Good. You've been paying attention.
When I was little, I used to tell him how much I loved him and then ask for something (most often it was for some sort of pet). Well, last week, he returned the favor. He was hoping that you, my loving, adoring viewers would help him out with something, he and Ecotrust believe so strongly in.
Ecotrust is competing for a piece of $2,500,000 that American Express
has dedicated to non-profit projects that are nominated by members and
non-members. The goal is to make it into the top 25 by the deadline of
September 1 when card holders will then vote for winners.
Our project is called "Yum" in their contest and will involve getting
organic fruits and vegetables into early youth programs such as Head
Start and daycare centers.
Organic fruits and vegetables for kids! What could be better!?
To nominate this project: click HERE and then click on the Nominate this Project button (directly below the picture of the baby eating the book). At that point you will be asked to register and then to nominate YUM.
(You can also get there by clicking on the widget I just put up on the top right of my blog.)
I know that signing up for something is annoying, but I really believe in my Dad and in Ecotrust, so I would really appreciate it if you would consider nominating or even blogging about nominating the Yum project as part of the American Express Members Project.

Done!
Done!
not a problem...
Done too.
I'm good at following instructions.
On my way right now!
First, of course I know your dad works there... it's all you talk about... and you have the need to show it off... "oh look at the fancy roof at my dad's building, I'm sooo cool"
But that's not your dad's fault. It's not the fault of the kids either... so I did it.
but not for you
Very cool. I voted for this project and so did my wife.
Done! Go dad!
done....happy to do it for a cause near and dear to my heart...
Done! Such a great cause! I think it's awesome that you rave about your dad too!
You are an angel! Thanks so much for this. We know it's a longshot, but it's fun to try. And your comments abuot the project are terrific, and right on target.
Thanks again for your help!

Done!
Thanks everyone! My Daddy gave me a great big hug when he saw the post and all of your responses.
Thanks to you, we now have 80 nominations! Of course, the top project has 750, but, hey, we're still 8th in our subcategory! We still need more nominations, and also need lots and lots of discussion (when people post to the board, it bumps the project up where it gets more visibility). It would be thrilling to see our little project advance! Many thanks, to each of you.

To everyone who took the time to nominate and promote our project: THANK YOU!!!
Thought you all might like a little update: Nominations closed on 9/1. Our project received 114 (yippee!), keeping us in eighth place out of 51 in our subcategory.
GREAT NEWS!! AmEx fixed the glitch that prevented us from getting on the Discussion Boards to talk about the project (the other really important element in getting to the Final 25).
Between now and 9/9, everyone can still contribute comments. On 9/9 AmEx cardholders will be able to vote for their favorite projects from the Final 25 list.
If you can, please contribute to the Discussion Boards, and encourage everyone you know to do the same (even if they didn’t nominate).
To refresh your memory:
1) go to YUM! – Farm Fresh Food in Childcare Facilities; 2) register and/or login; 3) enter comments on the Discussion Board.
Don’t wait! Five days, 7 hours, 57 minutes left for discussion.
Once again, Thanks!
Rose
p.s. missburrows, I'm your neighbor! just a few blocks away on Lavina, moved there in April. love this neighborhood!

Hi Everybody,
If you helped us along in our efforts, you have received the list of the Final 25, and will notice that we aren’t on it. While we’re disappointed, we knew our chances were slight, and we are still happy to have made the effort. Many people got to see the Farm to Childcare project, and it was universally well-received. We had fun doing it, too.
This year’s Members Project drew 1,190 project entries, 6,613 comments on the Discussion Board (15 about “YUM!”), and 213,522 nominations in all (“YUM!” received 114). We came in eighth out of 51 in our subcategory, and held our own with nominations. We were disadvantaged by a system problem that prevented our project from being connected to the Discussion Board until the very end of the window for comments, but we received terrific comments from all over, once they fixed that glitch. All in all, it was a worthwhile effort, and we’ll be in a better position to participate in next year’s competition.
To everyone who contributed your time and efforts, a huge, and very sincere THANK YOU!
Best,
Rose
