DVR Alert: Sci Fi Channel's Tin Man

Cross the glossier, darker vision of a Sci-Fi channel story with Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz story and what you get is a three-part miniseries called the Tin Man.  The Tin Man premiers Sunday night on the Sci Fi Channel, at 9PM Eastern and Pacific time and 8PM Central.

I'm typically a sucker for the Sci Fi movies so I'll be recording this series especially knowing there won't be many decent shows on television soon due to the writers strike.  This one might not be for everyone though as there's been some lets say "mixed" reviews come out on the Tin ManHollywood Reporter says this about the miniseries:

"Say this for it: The thing manages to hold our interest in the same way it might were David Lynch to plan your office Christmas party."

Entertainment Weekly gives it a C+ and says:

"Tin Man deconstructs The Wizard of Oz and is best enjoyed if you've never seen the 1939 Judy Garland movie. But is there anyone out there who hasn't?"

Well I've seen The Wizard of Oz just like most others have, but I'm willing to give the show a chance - even if it won't be December when I watch it.

It's interesting how the Sci Fi Channel used their website to publicize the show.  They included a "Google Map" of the world the show takes place in, a comic (seems pretty common anymore in these types of shows) as well as a comparison of the Tin Man to the original Wizard of Oz Story.  Pretty good stuff.
