Pretty shonky camera work doesn't help much in this YouTube vid, and it's much too long, but you do get the idea of what else the Surface is doing at the Sheraton. But rather than all the useful information the publicists say the public want to use--local restaurant info, for example, or checking transport times--these users were more interested in just fooling around. Either that or it's actually too difficult to use effectively.
We do dig the virtual sealife touchpool that the video starts out with, and being able to resize a picture with your fingers is also pretty neat; same goes for the map features. But what we see here is way too gimmicky to be actually useful. We're sure--we hope--there's more, so we'll wait and see. Microsoft promises that Surface "will completely change the hotel guest experience" but from what we've seen that seems to be taking things a bit far.
