Camp Rock is a 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie. The musical is written by Julie Brown, Paul Brown, Regina Hicks and Karen Gist. The movie is directed by Matthew Diamond and produced by Alan Sacks. The movie stars the Jonas Brothers and introducing Demi Lovato for her first lead role in a film.

The Jonas Brothers attended the premiere of Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock at Ziegfeld Theatre in New York on the night of June 11. This musical TV film which sets Demi Lovato to become next Hannah Montana will officially air at 8PM ET/PT on Friday, June 20 on The Disney Channel (United States), and on September 21 in Disney Channel Asia. The movie also features Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, a 17 yrs. old Filipino-American actress who will play Ella in this series (known for her role as Ashley Dewitt on Hannah Montana)

Plot:
Camp Rock tells the rock n' roll Cinderella story of Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato), a teen with an amazing voice and a driving ambition to be a pop singer who wants to spend her summer at a prestigious rock camp. Unfortunately, an expensive music camp is a bit out of reach for her family, but her mother gets a job as Camp Rock's cook so that Mitchie can attend as long as she helps out in the kitchen between classes. Befriended by fellow camp member Caitlyn (Alyson Stoner) but intimidated by the immensely talented Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin) and her friends Peggy (Jasmine Richards) and Ella (Anna Maria Perez de Tagle), Mitchie lives a double life hiding that she is the cook's daughter and posing as a well-to-do camper in order to become part of the hottest clique at camp. When she's overheard singing, but not seen, by teen pop star and celebrity camp instructor, plus lead singer of Connect Three, Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), he is completely taken and sets out to find the girl behind the beautiful voice. Meanwhile, Mitchie will have to learn how to confront her fears, step out of the kitchen and into the spotlight as herself.

Characters:
* Mitchie Torres (Demi Lovato) is the female protagonist of the movie. She isn't very rich, but had always wanted to go to Camp Rock. In order to do that, she had to work along with her mother, Connie, in the kitchen and mess halls. Mitchie lied about her "fabulous" life and pretended to have rich and famous parents, like everybody else. But when her secret got out, Tess blamed Mitchie and her friend, Caitlyn, for stealing her charm bracelet, which led to banning Mitchie from camp activities. She sang a song (This is Me) and Shane overheard her singing it. He was determined to find her because Mitchie's song reminded him of the music he used to like, but because Shane had never even seen Mitchie sing the song, he would have difficulty finding out that it was her singing it.

* Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) is the male protagonist of the movie. He is the lead singer of the band, Connect Three. The other two band members include Nate (Nick Jonas) and Jason (Kevin Jonas). In the beginning of the movie, he is shown to be hot-tempered and does not like spending summers teaching at camps, but Nate made Shane come back to Camp Rock, where he first began to love music. As the movie goes on, Shane heard a girl, Mitchie Torres, singing that reminded him of the music he used to like, and was tempted to find the girl behind the talented voice.

* Caitlyn Geller (Alyson Stoner) is Mitchie's best friend, and they met at Camp Rock. Caitlyn is the only girl who wasn't mean or rude to Mitchie. She wants to be a producer and is constantly carrying her laptop around. She also has an intense rivalry with and, apparently, a hatred for Tess.

* Nate (Nick Jonas) is the guitarist and vocalist of the band, Connect Three. He is practical, but sometimes bossy and serious towards his band mates; he's the one who suggested Shane go to Camp Rock.

* Tess Tyler (Meaghan Jette Martin) is the female antagonist of the film. She went to Camp Rock to be "too cool" and wants to be a pop star. She is very popular but very mean to others, especially Mitchie, and even purposely blames Mitchie for stealing her charm bracelet so that she can be banned from all camp activities. Her role is very similar to that of Sharpay's in High School Musical.

* Jason (Kevin Jonas) is the lead guitarist of the band, Connect Three. He is spacey, out there, and the "airhead" of the band.

* Ella (Anna Maria Perez de Tagle) is one of Tess's best friends. She follows Tess around and does whatever she tells her to do, although she isn't as completely mean as Tess. Ella is the girly girl of the mean girl clique; she's obsessed with lip gloss and nail polish. One of the reasons why she is friends with Tess is because she wants to be popular. She's also supposedly dumb, as seen in the trailer, where she has a dilemma of choosing between two nail polish the exact same color.

* Peggy Warburton (Jasmine Richards) is one of Tess's best friends and is part of Tess' group. She isn't quite as cruel as Tess but is still more so than Ella. Other than tagging along with them, she dreams of being a famous guitarist and singer.

* Connie Torres (Maria Canals) is Mitchie's mother. She is supportive of Mitchie's dreams, and got her in Camp Rock.

* Lola Scott (Aaryn Doyle) has been going to Camp Rock for a long time and becomes friends with Caitlyn, Barron And Sander.

* Barron (Jordan Francis) is a Latino mischief maker at Camp Rock and best friend of Sander. He and Sander want to be Reggae singers.

* Sander (Roshon Fegan) is the best friend of Barron and camper at Camp Rock. Also he is a reggae singer like Barron.

* Andy (Giovanni Spina) is a camper at Camp Rock And becomes friends with Barron and Sander.
