Build Tiny Rich Text Fields with NicEdit

Nicedit Does your site have a place where readers can input text of some kind? If so, give NicEdit a try. It's a simple inline content editor written in JavaScript that dresses up basic text input forms with WYSIWYG rich text tools. Users can choose fonts, sizes and colors from drop-down menus (Comic Sans, people!), add hyperlinks and images, and even create bulleted lists. It was created by a developer named Brian Kirchoff.

There are other Ajaxy tools to do this, but NicEdit is much smaller and simpler than most other options. FCKEditor one such a full-featured text editor that makes any input field look like MS Word. NicEdit is way less complicated and only 10KB in size when compressed, so it's easier to use and better for smaller forms. It's closer to TinyMCE, another excellent editor. Both are great for avoiding that bloated feeling.
