The Incredible Hulk Poster Revealed!

With a mere 60 days to go until its debut, Universal has finally put out a poster for The Incredible Hulk. The poster features a puny Edward Norton and a giant Hulk standing back-to-back and all the other standard advertising fare. To be honest, it’s quite unimpressive – at least, it’s not that eye-catching. Whether or not we’ll see more posters before its release is still unknown, but it’s my guess that this is the one and only Hulk poster there is. Check it out below and chime in with your thoughts as well.

In this new beginning, scientist Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) desperately hunts for a cure to the gamma radiation that poisoned his cells and unleashes the unbridled force of rage within him: The Hulk. Living in the shadows—cut off from a life he knew and the woman he loves, Betty Ross (Liv Tyler)—Banner struggles to avoid the obsessive pursuit of his nemesis, General Thunderbolt Ross (William Hurt), and the military machinery that seeks to capture him and brutally exploit his power.
As all three grapple with the secrets that led to The Hulk’s creation, they are confronted with a monstrous new adversary known as The Abomination (Tim Roth), whose destructive strength exceeds even The Hulk’s own. And on June 13, 2008, one scientist must make an agonizing final choice: accept a peaceful life as Bruce Banner or find heroism in the creature he holds inside—The Incredible Hulk.
The Incredible Hulk is directed by French filmmaker Louis Leterrier of The Transporter, Unleashed, and The Transporter 2. The script for the film was originally written by Zak Penn (Behind Enemy Lines, X-Men 2, X-Men 3), but after joining the film as the lead character Bruce Banner, Edward Norton himself took over the reigns and re-wrote the screenplay. The Incredible Hulk arrives in theaters on June 13th.

do they not want the hulk to do good or do they just not give a shit it took them forever for them to get a teaser out and now they give us this, does this mean the movie isn't any good im still going to go see it but it deserves a lot more then its getting at this point with only 60 more days to go i cant see this doing as well as it could if it was promoted more.

First and only poster? Only two months before release? Somehow I bet at the end of the day I will have enjoyed Ang Lee's much-maligned version twice as much. Epic. FAIL.

Cool! The poster captures the essence of the old series with Bill Bixby! Pretty original considering they could have done a complete cast poster a la "Iron Man" with the hulk off to the side or in the background---now that would have been bad!! I think this will be the 'sleeper' hit of the summer.

I completely agree with you Spider. The first thing I thought about when I saw the poster was the Bill Bixby tv series as well. This Hulk movie just may turn out to be a lot better than many expectations.

I find that this poster is really the essence of the Banner/Hulk dynamic. It shows how both characters have deep loathing for the other, almost a shame of one another, while at the same time being the born of the same entity. Banner has his head down, as is he is ashamed of not just the Hulk but his uncontrolable actions. The Hulk has his back to him with his head slightly cocked to the side, aknowledging that Banner is there and is a part of him but at the same time not worthy enough to recieve his full attention. It is almost as if the Hulk has a look of utter contempt for the puny human to which he can never be rid of. I think this movie will do really well, despite all attempts at marketing(or lack therof). I get the feeling that this movie is not intended to be the summer blockbuster that "Iron-Man" is, but more of a picture for the die hard fans, and I feel that it will become the sleeper hit of the summer. Nobody spends that much time on a movie of this scale just to shirk it in the marketing and advertiseing. There is something to this film, we just have to wait and see...

That poster really isn't that great. I understand what it is trying to do but kind of fails. I WANT to see the FRONT of the Hulk, not his back. The title also I think should be bigger and it just looks kind fo last minute thrown together.

Ugh. I hate this poster. I thought the movie was called "The Incredible Hulk" - not "The Incredibly Sad, Weepy Edward Norton?" They screwed up the poster for the first Hulk movie, too. DON'T OBSCURE THE TITLE CHARACTER! Bruce Banner could be played by a sack of potatoes wearing a Rollie Fingers mustache. I don't care. I want to see *THE HULK*. I want to see The Hulk breaking things. I want mindless destruction and property damage. If there was ever a property tailor-made for the kind of kinetic action Hollywood typically does so well delivering, The Hulk would be it. But noooooo... Self-important writers, directors and actors have to play up the "man-versus-himself" angle to make the material look more serious. Give me a break. If they unveiled the Iron Man poster with a big close-up of Robert Downey Jr.'s head on it, people would be crying foul. Same goes here.

Guys, trust me. They've done a horrible job marketing this thing - and, for that reason, it's probably not going to do very well. But if it's anything like the script I read for it, it'll be good. Damn good.

I like to judge movies based on their posters. It's what I do, and clearly, I'm smarter than the rest of you. I mean, c'mon, this poster clearly states everything the film represents. Not going to see it because of the poster. Studios really need to spend at lest half of their time on the film, and at least 3/4 of their time on the poster. I mean, for fuck's sake studios, get it together with your posters.

Not bad not bad. As a designer myself I certainly see where they're going with this and I think they pulled it off well. As fans we can all agree that the proper amount of money has not been allocated to the marketing of this film, but I think that it's going to be very good. It's not going to win awards for anything, but is it going to be a "comic book movie"? I think so. For some reason just seeing this poster makes me a good deal hyped for it.

why are you guys bashing on this one so much? it's got detail, it's got a sad looking norton, it's got the movie name, release date, actors list... true, they could have showed the hulk's face. but then again...do you want the face of some huge green guy staring back at you everytime you see the poster at your local movie theaters? i'm fine with just seeing his back...big green guy? i know it's the hulk without having to see the face. if i was a hulk fan, i'd proudly hang this on my wall. but i'm not...so i'm not going to.

I like it. Its not in your face. It emphasises the underlying current of hate/distrust and yes #8 loathing and shame. An intelligent poster. Implying an intelligent film? I hope so, Norton is known for his cranium. No wonder some of the lesser species around are so dismissive. Get back to 'Aint it Cool News' trolls.

I ain't gonna lie the poster didn't excite me, but it's still cool none the less. Kinda look like hulk could be featured in a levi's jeans commercial, they got his back all arched. The hulk ain't suppose to stand upright isn't he suppose to have a hunched back kind of, oh well.

It looks like the hulk is watching some action quite a distance in front of him (where the tanks and choppers are focused) and Norton is just walking away from a bad poster. The artist doesn't seem to know much about anatomy either. I realize it's a hulk but it's basis is that of a human. They obviously didn't put much effort or money into this one.

It's fairly bland as these things go. Focusing on a bored looking central character, not really showing us the main draw (Hulk himself) and having some generic-looking action going on in the background almost as an afterthought doesn't give any prospective audience the right message frankly. Surely it deserves better than this?

Honestly, I'll tell you what's bugging me: the damned lighting. That "action" street is super illuminated...so is Norton. How the hell's the Hulk so dark in between them? I know realism doesn't necessarily apply with movie posters, but our eyes are reading it as incorrect. I dig the concept behind the poster, but frankly I think the execution of the Hulk is pretty lame. As far as 3D go, it looks like someone slapped a mottled green texture on a poorly normal mapped model. There's no specularity, there's no depth; it looks more like a statue than a living being with SKIN. Don't even get me started on the stupid anatomy. All in all, I don't hate the poster, I hate the rendition of the character.

I agree with #29. Everyone wants to see "HULK SMASH", and I am absolutly sure there will be plenty of that, but what about the story? That is what this is about. Action is merely a by-product of one man's struggle with himself. Much like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Besides, it is rumored that Iron-man will make a cameo appearance in this film. Once that gets out, all this movie has to do is piggyback on the Ironman marketing.

I want 10 new posters before opening night, just to make up for this depressingly dark photoshop-job excuse for an "Incredible" poster. I want "INCREDIBLE!!!" Not "incredible." The best, most eye-catching Hulk covers always have Big Greenie in a "Titans Clash" style Tableau... Same picture of Banner w/ the Two Monsters confronting each other on top of him would be Immensely more effective... Have to agree w/ the Canadian Tuxedo comment. Nothing against Canadians, mind you, but he looks a MILLION times cooler when he's wearing a Hoodie! GIMME A HOODIE POSTER! I want Banner in a Hoodie, with Monsters Confronting each other, above & Behind him. For REAL!!!

Yep, it reminded me of the Bill Bixby series first off; walking that lonely road or sidewalk at the end of each episode. Who knows? Maybe this will be good, but I agree the marketing for the movie up to now has been, well, total shit.

I think this poster is nice. It isn't flashy and pretentious like most and will hopefully leave the suspense and nail biting to the film, as intended. It's unique and it shows the contrast of each character. The big, bulky Hulk and the small, book-ish Bruce Banner. When you look at it, you think of the original which is what this film is trying to take you back to, unlike the first one that makes the Hulk look like a big green marshmellow.

(cont'd) I just wish the studio would take more time to actually market the film. The only time I've seen this trailer is on Yahoo! and if I were not a completely Edward Norton stalker, I would know nothing about this movie. But, I am looking forward to it. Edward Norton is an extremely talented actor and I hope he lives up to his reputation is a super-hero movie rather than romantic comedy or drama or thriller. Fingers crossed.
