Today I would love to share a poem that came to me probably a decade ago. I was thinking to write a simple one, that in short describes Who I Am. The poem didn't have to wait to long before it popped in my head:

You are what you do.

You are what you eat.

You are what you think.

You are what you read...

You are what you have

You are what you don’t

You are what you save

You are what you want

You are what you find

You are what you lose

You are what’s your mind

You are what you choose

Recently I decided to use Ai to put a music on my poem, I also created a little presentation of my recent artworks painted in watercolor (this was in no way a professional layout of music on the pictures of art, it was just a game I played one day).

And here it is, a little song on my poem that came into my brain one rainy day :)

My Impressionistic Autumn

As the Fall knocking the door already, I got in the Autumn mood and grabbed my brush. Here I want to share a couple of Impressionistic style paintings.

The first one is actually a segment of a larger painting:

This is the view from the window of my Fall painting where I mix a still life with the landscape. The still life will be very realistic, detailed; yet, the landscape is mostly done in wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry... just like The Nature welcomes us with Autumn rains and dry gusty winds. I'll be posting the final result in the next post.

Another painting was an inspiration and experimentation. And it is always a story coming around:

My artist-friend Vera Lysenko and I love the art of one wonderful Russian painter Konstantin Vasiliev whose short but extremely productive life produced more than 400 gorgeous paintings. Vera and I were discussing his painting about Fall; and, she asked me to paint a piece similar in expression for her. And even though Vasiliev was following more realistic symbolism shell I say; I decided to paint Fall forest in Impressionistic format using new for me techniques. First I painted all wet on wet with splashes of yellow, orange, and sepia. Then, I grabbed the brush and started splattering the "leaves" all over the artwork (the surrounding area also suffered for art: my computer display, desk, floor. Oh Well!). And when the painting was completed, I covered it with the thin layer of Acrylic Polymer that my friend can place it on a wall without framing (I fixed the painting with Auquarelle Fixative before applying the polymer). All of that made a very decorative colorful ready-to-give gift.

That's how one realistic artist and one wonderful friend can trigger an impressionistic idea in another artist.

Wearable Fall Art

I am used to see my art on the wall of art collectors. But I was curious how the Fall Art would look like on clothes items. How the fall leaves, for example, would fit into the wardrobe.

Mountain Fuji Japan Chureito Pagoda Watercolor Painting

As a part of my new Around The World series (I mentioned it HERE), I want to invite my followers art collectors to Japan. I painted this artwork in watercolor in simple fresh style, where colors are bright and the lines are sharp, yet impressionistic approach to watercolor brush strokes in this painting provide an easy relaxing appreciation of this water media.

The Chureito Pagoda is five stories of beautiful lacy levels. It is located on the mountainside overlooking city of Fujiyoshida. Far on the horizon you can ses Mount Fuji. The pagoda is a part of the Arakura Sengen Shrine. It was built as a peace place and memorial in 1963. To get to the pagoda, one need to climb around 400 steps up. And when the hike is accomplished, the reward is a remarkable views of Mount Fuji in combination with Churito pagoda. It is beautiful view in any season. Lots of people love it during Spring when cherry blossoms are on the trees, but I pictured it in Fall. Autumn colors suit so well this beautiful building. The most colorful season usually takes place in the first half of November.

I love how this painting looks in a simple black frame with white mat:

If to think about no frame, the canvas painting of Chureito Pagoda looks great in living room setting:

I also like how vertical view of this watercolor painting, allows Chureito Pagoda stand out and yet it gives a nice perspective to Mountain Fuji as well:

Boboli Gardens Statue Florence Italy Watercolor Painting

When I visited Florence a couple of years ago, I stumbled upon a real treasure of this grand city.. Hiding right behind Pitti Palace there were amazing Boboli Gardens. The Medici family established the blueprint of these gardens centuries ago. They thought about creating the Italian garden style, which in the future became a perfect example for many European courts and gardens. The enormous green area is mixing up with a regular layout. It is truly a museum under the open sky.

The garden is filled with gorgeous ancient and Renaissance statues and fountains. There are also decorative grottos, the most important of which is the famous Grotto created by Bernardo Buontalenti. Large fountains, for example the Fountain of Neptune and the Fountain of the Ocean are grand not only in their massive beauty, but strike the viewer with gentle lines and silhouettes shaped by great old masters. Later, the following Habsburg-Lorraine and Savoy dynasties developed and added to the gardens, outspreading the boundaries of the area up to Porta Romana.

I loved the strikingly beautiful terraced area of 18th-century pavilion, which called the Kaffeehaus. It is a rare example of Rococo architecture in Tuscany. The Lemon House built by Zanobi del Rosso between 1777 and 1778 has 500 citrus plants from the Garden. And of course, the main building of Boboli Gardens is Pitti Palace in the foot of the hill spreading its beauty and hugging the gardens from the Northern side. It is definitely worth visiting both, the gardens and the Palace in one day to appreciate the beauty of manmade structures with Nature provided but trimmed to taste of the last centuries, park.

Florida Keys - Travel Watercolors And More

Remembering when I had a wonderful adventure of my life, traveling along the shore of Florida Keys with my friends. Amazing trip and unforgettable scenery. It was certainly a paradise for an artist's eye. I had an opportunity to paint a few watercolors there and brought tons of memorable photos that one day can transform into paintings.

Above seascape watercolor painting is from Islamorada little town. Translating from Spanish, Islamorada is a Purple Island. When looking at the clouds' color in the distance I understood why they named this beautiful place after one of my favorite hues. The scene was so serene, so lovely, that I couldn't not to paint it.

We also visited a larger town of Florida Keys, the city of Marathon. Besides fishing, diving, and sailing, it has a big tourists' attraction, beautiful Faro Blanco Lighthouse that proudly stands in the marina of Hyatt Hotel right next to the Palm Island:

Another gorgeous place that I've visited was John Pennekamp State Park:

This, from the first glance, peaceful place showed us its habitat pretty quickly. I was amazed how much wild life Florida Keys have and how close you can get to meet the "residents" who in return don't even care about tourists taking the pictures:

Flowers Impressionism - New Collection For Home Decor and Merchandise

If in the last year I focused more on precisely painted botanical flowers for my Coloring Books Collection, this year I am exploring quite different style of painting; and, I am introducing an interesting water medium into my watercolor, gouache. Gouache is a pretty much opaque watercolor that allows to paint thicker, well pronounced layers on on a top of each other. I love an Impressionistic feeling when I paint with gouache.

Conservatory Of Flowers Watercolor Painting San Francisco Plein Air

I always thought about coming to paint Conservatory Of Flowers in Golden Gate Park of San Francisco en Plein-Air Style. And finally, I packed my paints and went. In spite of the starting rain, I stoically waited for the first sun rays to come up while I was drawing And then, the magic had began: I splashed the paint all over the artwork. But the day was still oh so cold. I warmed up my hands in the restaurant at the Ocean Beach and then happy and full, filled with art ideas, I went back home to add a few details to the painting :)

Snowing In The Room

Watercolor Of Alaska Mountains Iceland And Greenland Paintings

As a part of my Travel Around The World series I want to invite my art collectors to some Northern part of the World.

Watercolor painting landscape with snowy mountains of Alaska is above. The mountains are so grand and monumental in all their beauty. The solitude, peace and serenity comes to my mind when I look at this watercolor landscape.

And here is a little different scene. In this painting, besides the cold and solid mountains on the back, we see cute cozy and warm houses of Northern country Greenland. I love this little community, where people know what hardship of a tough weather can be yet still appreciate living in this area:

And another Northern country scene that I've recently painted is a famous Blue Lagoon in Iceland:

Here is quite interesting story about Blue Lagoon creation:

What is curious is that the Blue Lagoon is not a natural phenomenon. Iceland is a country brimming with natural hot springs, but the Blue Lagoon incidentally is not one of them as it turned out to be. The Blue Lagoon history dates back to 1976 and is formed next to the geothermal power plant. The lagoon was created by the excess water from the power plant, that is drilling for steam and hot water. The runoff is filtered straight into the Blue Lagoon, which is what heats the water. This "accidental" paradise is now attracting hundreds of people from all over the World to visit, enjoy warm waters, crisp air, and peaceful beauty of Iceland. The waters of Blue Lagoon are clean and safe. It does not contain any chemicals, only natural minerals that have proven to be very good for people’s skin.
