Wizard Of Oz - illustrate a book - Workshop

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Wed, 23 Sep 2026 17:51:00 -0700

Detailed images are in the Gallery HERE

This is a workshop in the local library that was devoted to Wizard Of Oz book and movie. It was hard to separate the written story from the video version of it. For example, Dorothy had Silver Slippers in the book and Ruby Slippers in the movie. Scarecrow received a Diploma from Wizard of Oz; but in the book he actually received a bag of bran with pins and needles. And Cowardly Lion got a potion of Courage in the book while in the movie he got a medal.

I taught kids about a Still Life by cutting a few objects from the Wizard Of Oz story and combining them into a visual still life:

Then I painted the actual still life on a paper, and put it together:

We also had some "guests" who was watching us painting: my friend landed us a Wizard of Oz Barbie Doll collection:

Kids and I had a blast. We not only painted this time, we learned how to draw, how to place the images on a paper, make some important decisions on composition. The paintings turned out bright and creative:

Even Moms this time wanted to paint; and, I have to honestly tell you they did good and I saw they enjoyed every second of it :0)

How Famous Is Too Famous

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Mon, 21 Sep 2026 16:01:00 -0700

Above you see two gorgeous collages from one of the most famous museums of Saint Petersburg, Russia, The Russian Museum

(I am giving full credit to the museums organizers and web designers for that)

In between I placed some of my favorite paintings creating a strip of framed art. Oh, no, they are not in that museum. Yet! Let's say it is my vision board, my meditative visualization :)

And here is why I did this collage.

Let me explain.

The first couple months of this year I am quite busy by working almost at once on three projects. These three projects, yet to be announced, involve certain exclusivity. One is non-exclusive, one is fully-exclusive, and one is semi-exclusive (meaning that I do retain certain rights, but I do promise to keep the term of the contract). The projects are exciting, and they involve my Fine Art skills as well as illustrative skills.

While I was drafting the agreement for exclusive rights I thought to check online my name: who and where is using my name or my art.

I simply typed Irina Sztukowski in Image box on Google; and oh Boy, oh Boy, oh Boy.. I was ready for some interesting surprises.

It is certainly cool when people use your art for a poetry, such Livejournal.ru did (my art there on some what 20 posts from different people, exercising literal skills and using my art for their inspiration). Yet, I wasn't contacted by any of these people for the permission. Hm.

I also found that my Eiffel Tower painting became one of the most famous paintings of this tower:

I've learned that one of my art-photographs of Ponte Vecchio, that I made in Florence, Italy became a cover for the article Famous Bridges of the World:

And one author of the CoolStuff Directory decided to write about me and place several of my paintings:

What I was truly happy to discover, that the real museum, the Tao House Eugene O'Neill Museum in Danville, California, decided to use my artwork Old Barn At Tao House for the cover of their Artists Days at Tao House page.

Yey!!

And many many other surprises were waiting for me on the World Wide Web that day. No wonder, pretty soon museums will be calling me to place my art on their walls ;).

It is all great when you find that besides your own website where customers can purchase canvas prints, home decor, clothes with art, and other goodies; that people admire my art and my painings bring joy and inspire good articles, poetry (in some cases even tattoos' designs.. I kid you not! I found that too!).

But I also found some websites that offer my art for sale without my consent. For obvious reasons I am not placing their URL's here. The digital images are snatched right from my personal website and I am sure they offer a poor quality copies there.

I also got a kick when found out that in China, they actually offer my watercolor artworks to be duplicated in oils. Good Luck Guys!! I am not terribly happy about that. Some action will be definitely taken.

But on a good note, I am thinking: if I am an artist who loves to go to the museums, and learn from the great masters. And, I am, a curious person, who challenges myself all the time, learns how to paint some elements from 16th - 19th Century masterpieces; and, I do it in watercolor looking at oil paintings. Then why not!!!

When my art is in the famous museums around the world; I am giving a full permission to the Dreamers like myself; go ahead and visit those museums and paint my art!!

With this said, I am back to my studio, and I continue producing the best art I can:

And you are always welcomed to visit my "Museum" with more than 50 different Galleries with more than 1800 images of art for all good tastes!

Who You Are Poem Into A Song Plus Some Watercolor Art

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Mon, 23 Feb 2026 04:40:00 -0800

Artist Irina Sztukowski - Watercolor Self Portrait

Today I would love to share a poem that came to me probably a decade ago. I was thinking to write a simple one, that in short describes Who I Am. The poem didn't have to wait to long before it popped in my head:

You are what you do.

You are what you eat.

You are what you think.

You are what you read...

You are what you have

You are what you don’t

You are what you save

You are what you want

You are what you find

You are what you lose

You are what’s your mind

You are what you choose

Recently I decided to use Ai to put a music on my poem, I also created a little presentation of my recent artworks painted in watercolor (this was in no way a professional layout of music on the pictures of art, it was just a game I played one day).

And here it is, a little song on my poem that came into my brain one rainy day :)

Note: if the video didn't open write away, then just go directly to:

My Impressionistic Autumn

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Thu, 30 Oct 2025 20:55:00 -0700

As the Fall knocking the door already, I got in the Autumn mood and grabbed my brush. Here I want to share a couple of Impressionistic style paintings.

The first one is actually a segment of a larger painting:

Click on the image to see Zoom-up

This is the view from the window of my Fall painting where I mix a still life with the landscape. The still life will be very realistic, detailed; yet, the landscape is mostly done in wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry... just like The Nature welcomes us with Autumn rains and dry gusty winds. I'll be posting the final result in the next post.

Another painting was an inspiration and experimentation. And it is always a story coming around:

See this painting and its variations in my New Gallery Seasons

My artist-friend Vera Lysenko and I love the art of one wonderful Russian painter Konstantin Vasiliev whose short but extremely productive life produced more than 400 gorgeous paintings. Vera and I were discussing his painting about Fall; and, she asked me to paint a piece similar in expression for her. And even though Vasiliev was following more realistic symbolism shell I say; I decided to paint Fall forest in Impressionistic format using new for me techniques. First I painted all wet on wet with splashes of yellow, orange, and sepia. Then, I grabbed the brush and started splattering the "leaves" all over the artwork (the surrounding area also suffered for art: my computer display, desk, floor. Oh Well!). And when the painting was completed, I covered it with the thin layer of Acrylic Polymer that my friend can place it on a wall without framing (I fixed the painting with Auquarelle Fixative before applying the polymer). All of that made a very decorative colorful ready-to-give gift.

That's how one realistic artist and one wonderful friend can trigger an impressionistic idea in another artist.

Wearable Fall Art

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Fri, 17 Oct 2025 11:45:00 -0700

I am used to see my art on the wall of art collectors. But I was curious how the Fall Art would look like on clothes items. How the fall leaves, for example, would fit into the wardrobe.

The artwork Autumn Flow looks great not only on the wall as a framed art; but, as well as the scarf or top or even a dress:

Another artwork that I've created as a fall pattern, contains deeper solid colors of the great season:

It does look cute on the skirt, short sleeve top design, and a dress:

Mountain Fuji Japan Chureito Pagoda Watercolor Painting

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Mon, 13 Oct 2025 19:19:00 -0700

As a part of my new Around The World series (I mentioned it HERE), I want to invite my followers art collectors to Japan. I painted this artwork in watercolor in simple fresh style, where colors are bright and the lines are sharp, yet impressionistic approach to watercolor brush strokes in this painting provide an easy relaxing appreciation of this water media.

The Chureito Pagoda is five stories of beautiful lacy levels. It is located on the mountainside overlooking city of Fujiyoshida. Far on the horizon you can ses Mount Fuji. The pagoda is a part of the Arakura Sengen Shrine. It was built as a peace place and memorial in 1963. To get to the pagoda, one need to climb around 400 steps up. And when the hike is accomplished, the reward is a remarkable views of Mount Fuji in combination with Churito pagoda. It is beautiful view in any season. Lots of people love it during Spring when cherry blossoms are on the trees, but I pictured it in Fall. Autumn colors suit so well this beautiful building. The most colorful season usually takes place in the first half of November.

I love how this painting looks in a simple black frame with white mat:

If to think about no frame, the canvas painting of Chureito Pagoda looks great in living room setting:

I also like how vertical view of this watercolor painting, allows Chureito Pagoda stand out and yet it gives a nice perspective to Mountain Fuji as well:

Around The World Travel Gallery became very popular in the last year, I've sold many artworks with famous places and I am glad that my followers and art appreciators are adding my art to their home collections.

Boboli Gardens Statue Florence Italy Watercolor Painting

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Mon, 6 Oct 2025 16:37:00 -0700

When I visited Florence a couple of years ago, I stumbled upon a real treasure of this grand city.. Hiding right behind Pitti Palace there were amazing Boboli Gardens. The Medici family established the blueprint of these gardens centuries ago. They thought about creating the Italian garden style, which in the future became a perfect example for many European courts and gardens. The enormous green area is mixing up with a regular layout. It is truly a museum under the open sky.

The garden is filled with gorgeous ancient and Renaissance statues and fountains. There are also decorative grottos, the most important of which is the famous Grotto created by Bernardo Buontalenti. Large fountains, for example the Fountain of Neptune and the Fountain of the Ocean are grand not only in their massive beauty, but strike the viewer with gentle lines and silhouettes shaped by great old masters. Later, the following Habsburg-Lorraine and Savoy dynasties developed and added to the gardens, outspreading the boundaries of the area up to Porta Romana.

I loved the strikingly beautiful terraced area of 18th-century pavilion, which called the Kaffeehaus. It is a rare example of Rococo architecture in Tuscany. The Lemon House built by Zanobi del Rosso between 1777 and 1778 has 500 citrus plants from the Garden. And of course, the main building of Boboli Gardens is Pitti Palace in the foot of the hill spreading its beauty and hugging the gardens from the Northern side. It is definitely worth visiting both, the gardens and the Palace in one day to appreciate the beauty of manmade structures with Nature provided but trimmed to taste of the last centuries, park.

Florida Keys - Travel Watercolors And More

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Fri, 21 Mar 2025 07:51:00 -0700

Remembering when I had a wonderful adventure of my life, traveling along the shore of Florida Keys with my friends. Amazing trip and unforgettable scenery. It was certainly a paradise for an artist's eye. I had an opportunity to paint a few watercolors there and brought tons of memorable photos that one day can transform into paintings.

Above seascape watercolor painting is from Islamorada little town. Translating from Spanish, Islamorada is a Purple Island. When looking at the clouds' color in the distance I understood why they named this beautiful place after one of my favorite hues. The scene was so serene, so lovely, that I couldn't not to paint it.

We also visited a larger town of Florida Keys, the city of Marathon. Besides fishing, diving, and sailing, it has a big tourists' attraction, beautiful Faro Blanco Lighthouse that proudly stands in the marina of Hyatt Hotel right next to the Palm Island:

Another gorgeous place that I've visited was John Pennekamp State Park:

This, from the first glance, peaceful place showed us its habitat pretty quickly. I was amazed how much wild life Florida Keys have and how close you can get to meet the "residents" who in return don't even care about tourists taking the pictures:

Amazing trip! True discovery of Florida Keys beauty and hidden secrets!

Flowers Impressionism - New Collection For Home Decor and Merchandise

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Fri, 7 Mar 2025 06:33:00 -0800

If in the last year I focused more on precisely painted botanical flowers for my Coloring Books Collection, this year I am exploring quite different style of painting; and, I am introducing an interesting water medium into my watercolor, gouache. Gouache is a pretty much opaque watercolor that allows to paint thicker, well pronounced layers on on a top of each other. I love an Impressionistic feeling when I paint with gouache.

In the first group of paintings of my Impressionistic Flowers I explored cool and warm tones of a simple beauty painting flowers bouquets in free loose brush strokes:

Part of the collection includes my art on merchandise such pillows, dresses from my RedBubble Gallery; as well as from my website Flowers Impressionism Gallery

Conservatory Of Flowers Watercolor Painting San Francisco Plein Air

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Thu, 27 Feb 2025 21:05:00 -0800

I always thought about coming to paint Conservatory Of Flowers in Golden Gate Park of San Francisco en Plein-Air Style. And finally, I packed my paints and went. In spite of the starting rain, I stoically waited for the first sun rays to come up while I was drawing And then, the magic had began: I splashed the paint all over the artwork. But the day was still oh so cold. I warmed up my hands in the restaurant at the Ocean Beach and then happy and full, filled with art ideas, I went back home to add a few details to the painting :)

A note from the keepers of this beautiful Botanical Life Museum:

The Conservatory of Flowers is a national, state and local landmark, officially “Landmark Number 841” in the State of California. Built in 1879, the Conservatory of Flowers was the first formal structure erected in Golden Gate Park and remains an icon at the entrance of world renowned Golden Gate Park.

The Conservatory is literally filled to the brim with flowers, foliage and plants from around the world, with a concentration on tropical plants. It’s a place where you will always be greeted with a warm smile, an unforgettable experience, and an opportunity to view a plant or flower that you may not see anywhere else. Come visit the Conservatory today and immerse yourself in our five distinct galleries, each focusing on highlighting a different ecosystem, ranging from a tropical rainforest to the cloud forests perched on top of mountains. Once inside the Conservatory you will engage all senses: see an awesome array of colors and textures; feel the warm, moist air; smell intoxicating fragrances; taste the mist on your tongue; hear the trickle of falling water, a clap of thunder in our rainforest, or crickets as the sun starts to set.

We are proud that the Conservatory is engaged in important conservation and education work, keeping rare and unusual plants on display for the young and old, just as we have done since 1879. We are proud to translate the amazing stories of plants unique features or ingenious adaptation traits through our carefully curated interpretation and experiences. Finally, we are proud to welcome children of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

The colours are bright and vibrant. Because I have a large wall I ordered the largest size. It looks stunning above my blue love seat ! I order large pictures when I can as they give more impact. The picture quality is just as good as the smaller ones .... they DO NOT distort as others have indicated. It came well packaged and damage free.

Watercolor Of Alaska Mountains Iceland And Greenland Paintings

noreply@blogger.com (irinasztukowski) — Thu, 31 Oct 2024 19:32:00 -0700

As a part of my Travel Around The World series I want to invite my art collectors to some Northern part of the World.

Watercolor painting landscape with snowy mountains of Alaska is above. The mountains are so grand and monumental in all their beauty. The solitude, peace and serenity comes to my mind when I look at this watercolor landscape.

And here is a little different scene. In this painting, besides the cold and solid mountains on the back, we see cute cozy and warm houses of Northern country Greenland. I love this little community, where people know what hardship of a tough weather can be yet still appreciate living in this area:

And another Northern country scene that I've recently painted is a famous Blue Lagoon in Iceland:

Here is quite interesting story about Blue Lagoon creation:

What is curious is that the Blue Lagoon is not a natural phenomenon. Iceland is a country brimming with natural hot springs, but the Blue Lagoon incidentally is not one of them as it turned out to be. The Blue Lagoon history dates back to 1976 and is formed next to the geothermal power plant. The lagoon was created by the excess water from the power plant, that is drilling for steam and hot water. The runoff is filtered straight into the Blue Lagoon, which is what heats the water. This "accidental" paradise is now attracting hundreds of people from all over the World to visit, enjoy warm waters, crisp air, and peaceful beauty of Iceland. The waters of Blue Lagoon are clean and safe. It does not contain any chemicals, only natural minerals that have proven to be very good for people’s skin.
