Dizzie's West Coast Tournament Final Important Info

Hey guys,

I hope that all of you had a wonderful and feastful Thanksgiving weekend! I just want this work week to go by quickly so we could finally all hang out and play our tournament together on Saturday. I do have some important announcements so please make sure to read this email till the end.

1) Las Vegas Blvd. blocked:
For those of you planning to leave Las Vegas (whether by flying or driving) on Sunday December 4th, 2011 please be aware that Las Vegas Blvd (“the strip”) will be closed from 5AM till 11:30PM due to a Rock n’ Roll LV Marathon - which means that drivers won't be able to cross the roads that the 15,000 runners will rumble over because they will all be closed. Pedestrians, however, will be allowed to cross the course as long as they aren't interfering with the race. There will be only two ways to get in and out of the wide swath of the Las Vegas Valley enclosed by the marathon course. Motorists can hop on U.S. Highway 95 or Interstate 15 to pass over the closed roads and exit at the appropriate offramp. You may want to use freeway exits farthest from the race to avoid the more than 200,000 spectators expected to line the race route. This also applies for those who want to visit other hotels and such, so please plan accordingly! I don’t want anyone “stuck” in Vegas but it probably is best to leave on that Monday (or possibly at the graveyard hours on Saturday *yikes* if you REALLY have to get back). I also attached a picture of the route for you.

2) Friday Night “Meet & Greet” / Dinner:
I planned this year’s meet and greet at Hard Rock Hotel - 5PM on December 2nd (Friday) at an All-You-Can-Eat-Tapas place called Johnny Smalls. Tapas are “small appetizer plates” encompassing Spanish snacks, Asian dim sum, Italian antipasti, Mediterranean mezze, Indian thali, Mexican antojitos, classic American starters and more, the menu is a melting pot highlighting the most delicious flavors on Earth, regardless of origin and cultural boundaries, at a great price --- $20!!!! (You do have to sign up for a free RockStar card @ the player’s club because normally it’s $25. If you don’t have one, just tell me before paying and I’ll work my magic out for you but PLEASE try to get this before you get to the restaurant to save troubles.

At first, I wanted to choose a buffet but I know that some people don’t want to spend $35 on a extravagant buffet or $12 on a “OK” buffet….. soooo I decided on this place and have been here TWICE & loved it. So, I’m inviting you all to experience this w/ me and I promise you, it’s quality food & you WILL be full. It’s not a buffet but you can eat until you’re stuffed with no time limit. Come join us there at Hard Rock Hotel at 5PM sharp. (If you need to sign up for a card, come earlier). Whether it’s a group of 6 or a group of 30, I made reservations to suffice. 3) Your name on my roster:
If you are on my “confirmed” list for the tournament & have a change of plans or “things came up” PLEASE NOTIFY ME ASAP so I can remove you from my “confirmed” list. I have 43 people registered so far and a few on my “alternates” list. If you know you won’t be able to make it for sure, please reply to this email to allow my alternates into the game. I know that things always come up last minute so no hard feelings =) (there’s always a next!) PLEASE CHECK AND MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON MY LIST BELOW. If you’re not on my list, you won’t be able to register for this tournament.

4) The tournament / payout structure:
$125 buy-in for $8000 chips, $5 dealer appreciation for $1000 & $10 add-on for $2000. (This means that you can potentially start with $11,000 in chips!) 20 minute blinds with NO ANTES = Great structure with lots of play-time!

My $3600 DizzieDONK Pot...

I remember writing this a while back and finally wanted to share this because it's been TOO long since I've been blogging about my hands & sessions. (PLUS, this is one of my favorite all time moments that I could clearly remember {{& wrote down}} -- but there are a LOT!) Re-living this moment pumps me up again and till this day brings a smile to my face... Don't get me wrong though, it's not a typical smile but a very~very~ evil one! Muhahaha...

*THE TABLE*

On a Friday night, I decided to go downstairs and play for a bit in the Ceasar's poker room - Not my favorite room in Vegas but it left me no choice because I was staying there. I sit down with $1500 on a friendly $5/$10 table for about 5 hours and I was having a blast with 2 locals and 6 other tourists from all around the world, simply there for the convention. (I usually ask people where they are from, casually, which gives me more information about whether they're there to make money, to simply gamble, or just to have fun) And of course, I tell them I'm just visiting from Cali for the convention as well - which WAS true! haha.. Well, there were a couple big pots but hardly any action like I'm used to on a $5/$10 game - ugh, it felt more like a friendly home game... How was I going to make any money? Most of my night went like this...

Flopped quads and I was betting out with them on the flop because I put 2 of them on overpairs and was right! - which was the perfect disguise b/c they never put me on quads!) AND..... guess what? New chip leader in the house!! With around $5500 in front of me.... BUT after that hand I was card dead for literally an hour! OK, I had to do something.... something crazy...

*THE ACTION*

I told myself this. F this. I'm under the gun and the next hand whatever 2 cards I get, I'm going to play them like I have Aces. OK? ANY two....

Hmmmm, now what am I dealt??? My 2 magical cards. K-freakin'-4 of spades. Ooooh~~ great.

Here we go.... I raise to $50, and "Minnesota" (the guy next to me) calls. Fold, Fold, "Dan The Man" (a local) calls. Fold, and "Mister-Euro-drunk-loose-player" reraises me on the button and makes it $150. Hmmmmm.... What to do? He's been throwing out chips with any two most of the night but sometimes has the nuts.... OK. I can't fold now because "I-ahem-have-Aces" but I'm not reraising him at this point so I just smooth call his raise. (I've been teasing him the whole night because I kept telling him to call my pots since he was getting a 50% discount at his EURO rate haha). Anyways, the two other players call behind me! WTF! I really need a miracle flop....

Ace of Hearts. Jack of Spades. 5 of Spades.

I look down again to double check my cards and oohhhhh yes, I need my spade, I N-E-E-D MY SPADE! Hmmm, now I supposedly have a set of Aces, right? So, I quickly determine that I'm not going to check raise at this point - instead I bet out my "set" and I push $400 right in front of me... and what happens??? Call. Call. and "Euro donk" min raises me. Grrrrrr..., I snap call and so do the two behind me.... Please.....! - I need a spade....

Turn is a 2 of Diamonds! OMG..OMG! I'm soooooooo-dead.

Either way, I bet out again to see what the others will do. I guess it was a bad move since I really DID need a free card, but too late... "Minnesota" go all in... then, "Dan the 25-yr-old local" calls behind him, and it's on "Mr. Euro"... He pops it but doesn't go all in..... I know if I hit I'm good... but these guys have me beat and there's so much money in the pot.... OK, if I had Aces at this point, I'd bump it up or push... but at the same time I'm skeeeeered and just call.... "Dan The Man" thinks about it and just goes all in who has "Euro-man" covered... and now everyone's all in... OH WHAT A DIZZZZZZ-aster!! I pray and pray for a spade - "JUST ONCE!..... Pleasssssssse"...

BAM! The river is... *drumroll*.... a dang R-E-D card. Ahhhhhhhh, I'm gonna cry.... Really? a little over $3600 pot. YIKEEEEEEEES.

And what do I see???? Everyone flips over their cards and I see A-J for 2 pair, a set of 55's, and Mr. Euro-Donk has a set of Aces...

I look down at my two cards... and see.... Ohhhhhhhmmmmmyyyyy. I rivered a straight on the river - it was the 3-of-diamonds! YEAAAAAAA!!!!!! I felt like the biggest donk in the world and I hardly EVER play like this but I found myself a new nickname that day - DIZZIEDONKEY. I wanted to scream my lungs out at this point but showed no expression and didn't even crack a smirk... No explanation either. After all, it left a bittersweet taste in my mouth like after shot of Bacardi 151 with no chaser to go with it. These were the people I was "cool" with for the last 5 hours... and now I felt the intense steam and shock on everyone else's faces so I quickly piled up my chips in front of me - not even stacking them up... left to go to the restroom to recoup, and of course do a little happy dance!! I came back to the table, played it cool, tipped the dealer and got outtttttttt of there. (He was the same dealer that dealt me the quads!) Normally, I'd never bust a hit-n-run like that but in this case, I didn't care. I know I could've made more money from them at that point but I didn't want to push it. They were all talking smack while I was gone - I mean, who wouldn't? K4?
But.... in all honesty, it wasn't me trying to donk - more like bluff; there's a HUGE difference there.... and this time, it worked out to my favor.

Oh, and I'm glad on here... you can't see my lil evil smile... HAHAHAH

So, I finally jumped on the bandwagon and created a HOME GAME group at PokerStars called TEAM HUSTLE. Our buy-ins for the tourneys will range from $2.20 up to $22 and you could pick and choose whichever game you want to play! We already have 21 members and growing so hopefully YOU'LL be able to join us! We had our first tournament last night called the "Small Ball Hustle" a $2.20 buy in tournament just to see how things ran and it was a LOT of fun & action! (I apologize to everyone for those who were registered for first tourney that got cancelled / refunded!) I sorted out the kinks & moving forward now!

There were so many suckouts, bluffs, and action last night! :P One thing definitely memorable were my Pocket JJ's. We were 4 handed so after I get reraised to my original raise, I push all in vs. Allen's 99's and BOOM! (runner runner straight). OUCH.

It's OK, I regroup and build to triple up my short stack! Then, it's that time again.... I wake up with 9's. I raise, Allen goes all in this time, I call and daym... he shows his JJ's. "DOOMED" I'm thinking.... but as I hear the swish sound of the turn, I look up at the monitor I see I hit my set BAMMMMM! BOOYAH~ 99's>JJ's.... Payback's a BEACH I say! (Sorry Allen!)

The next hand, we're down to the last three.... IN THE MONEY! Well, I'm the first to get K.O'd and shortly after..... the reigning champion stands ~~~>RHINO10126! Congrats to you, you are the Gold Star of our rankings. (FOR NOW :P)

Girl on Girl Action at the Venetian!

Rosie AKA PUSSSH reminded me of this incident.... Speaking of love and poker...

There was this time at the Venetian Poker room when some girl asked me for my number and wanted me to go clubbing with her that night. I just laughed it off. We were playing on the same table and hardly played against each other. Then I flopped the nut boat and she turned Quads, meanwhile I was betting into her the whole time!!! Then the river's a blank and while I'm counting out my chips to bet (knowing I'm probably gonna PUuSsH), she shows me her cards!! ... And saves me from going all in. When I went to the bathroom, she followed me... And kept asking me to party with her. I said "TY but no, I dont swing that way".. and she rushed back picked up her chips and bounced. hAHAhahaaa.

So, my roll-dawg "K" tells me "Yo, Dizzie... you ain't posted in a minute" so of course I'm going to talk about Vegas since I just got back from there and also just booked my next trip (in January for CES). I was looking back at all the events that happened while in Vegas and it just shows that I'M ALWAYS THERE! For example, I was there when 2Pac got shot, I was there when the real-life-Ocean's 11-light's-out took place at Bellagio, I was there when they blew up Boardwalk AND Stardust, I was there when Siegfried & Roy got mauled by their own tiger, I was there when that guy put all his life savings on one spin of roulette...WOW, the list goes ON!!!!! And I was just coincidentally there! Well, let me add one more: the opening day of Cosmopolitan Hotel!!

.: There was a countdown for the doors to open at 8:00PM SHARP (December 15th, 2010! :.

.: DUN DUN DUN! Brandon Flowers from the Killers performed on Opening Night! :.

.: Look at the perfect shot I took in the middle of the streets! (Luckily, all red lights - all 15 of them!) :.

The hotel inside was chic but it reminded me of a Downtown LA building where everything's narrow and high! But who could blame them, with such little land space... the only way is to go UP! So, here you could see the picture of the 3-story bar called "Chandelier Bar" which makes everyone look like they're standing inside a huge chandelier! Pretty creative, huh?

Honestly, that's the only thing that impressed me the most. That and the condo style rooms w/ balconies and kitchenettes! Also, I REALLY liked the roulette tables (video roulette AND the table roulette)... I'm not a roulette kinda girl (but I will throw some money down on it once in awhile - and hit! - but it's just not that exciting for me, probably because it doesn't require too much thinking!) Anyways, this is PERFECT for those too drunk to think at ALL! It lights up all the winning spots: odd, even, #, 1st 3rd, yadda yadda... Now, you REALLY don't have to pay attention!

Anyhoo, remember the video roulette machines that you could put your money on the numbers with a touch of the finger? And... sometimes you mean to tap on #12 but it puts it on #11 then you end up trying to move the bet and you place extra bets on #11 and then the timer runs out??? Well, say good-bye to tiny little numbers with fat pudgy fingers because Cosmo has the actual roulette board all to YOURSELF with elbow room!!! :)

I heart Hello Kitty.... Today I received a little gift for myself! My 2nd Hello Kitty case ---> this time: with more colors and more bling!

A couple weeks ago, I went to the Hello Kitty 50th anniversary fair at the Santa Monica Barker Hanger! It was held only for about 10 days and I managed to go TWICE!! Lucky me~! The owner’s car is raised and lowered by means of a hydraulic lift. The single model is $61,181 and if you want an over and under double it will be $72,816. Whoaaaaa, is it worth it? At least the car jack-ers will have to work a hellava-lot harder than stealing my car from a parked lot at Hawaiian Gardens Casino..... Geez.

West Coast Tournament @ MGM Grand

Hi WCT entrants,

First off, thank you guys for making it out to the West Coast tourney from all over the country… I hope you guys are recovering well from the lack of sleep, jet lag, time zone differences, too much partying – etc… It was a great turnout considering that Spade Club shut down on us during the middle of planning for this event, but it wouldn’t have happened without you guys!..... so, thanks again!

Secondly, I wanted to apologize for the way the structure of the tournament was arranged. My understanding was that it would be the same structure as their daily tournament but with 6,000 chips with no mention of antes starting off at the 2nd round. I didn’t find out till the night before but the tournament director I’ve been working with for the last 3 months got sedated after hurting his back the weekend before the tournament; therefore assigning our tournament to someone else (the one who was running our tournament that day…). By the time I was notified, it was the day of the tournament when I glanced at the sheet given to me breaking down the levels of the blinds……. and it was too late to change anything. I feel that they made it this way due to the number of entrants being so low – honestly, I’m not sure why (I will be emailing the MGM tournament director and complaining about this…..) If I would have known prior to the day of, I wouldn’t have even played it… but either way, what’s done is done… and there’s nothing we could do about it now… but know for the future live tournaments, I need everything in writing.

The next issue I wanted to discuss, was the issue of bringing in 2 pros to the event. I feel responsible for allowing them to play in our tournament but I had originally provided a estimated number of 100-120 entrants for this restricted event. As time went by, I kept extending the deadline date since many people were still unsure and many others flaked – even up until the last minute. So when I was notified of more players, I instantly figured that more money in the prize pool would be better for all of us and felt like I had no choice since we needed players.

Either way, I hope everyone had a good time meeting each other and getting to know each other even a little bit more (which was the sole purpose of the event: to have FUN!) – and of course to experience Vegas, especially if it was your first time playing live or first time in Vegas! I know there was a lot of personal drama (stolen license plate, lost baggage at the airport, car/bike problems, hotel and flight mishaps…..) AND whether you won/lost this past weekend, I hope this was a memorable experience for everyone … As many have discussed - hopefully we could meet again and make this an annual event!! Next time…… I promise it will be a whole lot better!!! For those who couldn’t make the event, don’t feel too bad….. we will see you at the next event: 2nd Annual West Coast Tournament 2011~ so plan ahead!

I Finally Got My Real Crystal Bling Bling!!!

It took a whole lot of patience of controlling my anticipation but I FINALLY got my hand made Swavorski crystal Hello Kitty case! I've been waiting for over 2 months but it finally arrived! It is bulky and heavy (and I do get stopped by everyone while I'm talking on the phone) but overall I'm in love with it! Look at all the detail of it, soooo fun! I could stare at it for hours... (Better in person~)

Starting off my 1 week vacation..... this past weekend I went to my very first NHL game Anaheim Ducks vs. The Phoenix Coyotes!

I had N-O idea what to expect (so little that I didn't know that it would be freezing in there and to my luck, I was wearing a short sleeve top and sandals!!!) Lucky for me I stole the hubby's jacket the whole time AND enjoyed my hot chocolate! HAHA... I ♥ hot chocolate!! ☺ It was the 6 of us and we scored some really good seats, thanks to Chris!!

And yesssss, the Ducks won! I love how in hockey there's so many fights! I kept chanting "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" There were a couple of rumbles even with some bloody noses. (No, I don't like looking at blood - but I'm the type where I watch those Nip Tuck scenes with my hands over my eyes with my fingers spread apart peeping to see what's next!) Honestly, I think I'm turning into a Ducks fan cuz we'll be going to many more games from now on......

Rain, Rain GO AWAY! Little Dizzie wants to play!!!! This weekend will be my very own private West Coast Tournament that I've put together just for fun - $125 buyin and roughly around 60 players! I finished making the name tags for everyone and we will all meet at Planet Hollywood for a Meet-n-Greet on Friday and the actual tourney will be on Saturday at the MGM...It's going to be a fun packed weekend! YAY to Vegas!! NAY to the weather............. Yuck! See you guys there and good luck all!!! BTW, I WILL be going back November 4th-7th so if you're going, see you there!

BTW, my friend Steve called me a "Pumpkin Head"... WHY? Cuz I decided to go back to my regular hair stylist just for kicks and she dyed my hair ORANGE! I have writer's block since I haven't updated in SO long! I've been going through some mixed luck lately.... but mostly I've been working hard making and grading finals - since I'm coming to an end with this aesthetics term! (I have vacation for about 2 weeks (maybe 3 if I'm lucky) starting October 18th, so Vegas, Catalina, TJ wherevers... here I come!!) 2 days ago, my first student to take the State Board exam PASSED!!!) I'm so proud of her considering I pressured her so much even made her cry a couple times - but hard work paid off!!! Now... for my other students to pass....

If you know about the whole GSR situation, the security tapes were found and they even found the car two days ago!!! Everything in one piece except the Volks TE37's. Sighhh, I'm happy they found the car but mad that insurance might not pay out on the wheels and you KNOW that's what's worth the moola . It hasn't even been a month since it was purchased and already having bad luck with it. I'm now debating to get new wheels or get another car completely.

Guess what I've spoiled myself with!! It takes a month or so but it's going to be soooo worth it! I customized it my way but here's the gist of it. (OH, BTW, I got the new Iphone4 (I even like this case more than the diamond $20K bling'd out one!! ... a BLING'd out Hello Kitty case!!! Ohhh yea~
I LOVE ITTTT! I just can't wait until I receive it and I'm SURE it'll be a hellava lot nicer in person!

Oh, another bad thing that happened to me was ....... my desktop crashed! And it's not easy to fix since I had the Ultra Slim HP Desktop (which means that the power supply, motherboard, hard drive, etc. were miniature sized!!) I can't just take it to Best Buy and have them look at it since they don't have the parts so I guess I'm just calling it a loss..... All my old files, emails, pictures... LOST. (insert *le sigh*)

Seriously, all I've been doing lately is eating at the bestest places - Lawry's Prime Rib, Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, Fleming's Steakhouse, Rockin' Crawfish, Tomikawa, Macaroni Grill and also sushi, sushi, sushi (my favorite food)... *I'm due for some food reviews - coming up!*

Sin City - My 2nd Home:
This summer, I've been going to Vegas every 2 weeks!! I'm having a good summer record as far as my cash flow goes... especially the last 2 trips - I just couldn't miss... It's one of those streaks! Last summer was the same where July - September I couldn't miss a thing! JJ's vs KK's all in on a 9 high board (ALL IN) and my Jack would hit on the turn. The 2nd to last trip, I played BJ, Paigow, Poker, and even slots (had comped credit to play) and won in everything I touched... I know streaks end but that's why it's always called a gamble. With poker, I've been logging my plays and doing extremely well this year and last. More info to come later...

Spa-La-La-La-Laaaa:
From the gym and wet and dry saunas there, in addition I have to pamper myself to detox from all the grease ingested...with Aromatherapy and going to different spas and massage parlors all across San Gabriel Valley to Vegas... I've been feeling like a princess =). I even did the naked Korean spa thing where this girl exfoliated my whole body for 50 minutes (every inch of it) with these special mitts, exfoliator, and warm water *more details later!* followed by an oil massage for another 60 minutes.... This was HEAVEN!

I'm just enjoying the summer sun and laying out to work on my tan as well... Right now I'm living the life because I have to work hard and play harder!! It's Labor Day Weekend and I'm packed and ready to leave for my getaway to Palm Springs for some more GTG @ Miracle Springs Resort and Spa!

So, the Iphone 4 craze has begun this month and I admit, I'm a victim.... I want one but I don't want the first generation since there are so many bugs, etc.... but I can't help to drool over this one.... WHITE with diamonds.....! But what's it gonna cost? A whopping $20-freakin-thousand dollars! YUP, $20,000.... UHM, no thanks.... I'd rather buy a full body kit, rims, paint job, wing, and a whole lotta goodies with that moola.... BUT, it IS nice to look at...(BTW, Platinum cased and the apple logo is also in diamonds.. A little over 6 carats...!) Did I convince you? Ehhhh, I'll stick to my plain-jane white :P

A crusty old Marine Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation.

"Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?"

"Negative, ma'am. Just serious by nature."

The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action."

"Yes, ma'am, a lot of action."

The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, "You know, you should lighten up. Relax and enjoy yourself."

The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner.

Finally the young lady said, "You know, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex?"

"1955, ma'am."

"Well, there you are. No wonder you're so serious. You really need to chill out! I mean, no sex since 1955!" She took his hand and led him to a private room where she proceeded to "relax" him several times.
