Christian Louboutin Men's Store, 19 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau

last weekend when i was in paris, i made a trip to rue jean-jacques rousseau, home to the first christian louboutin men's store. the store is situated in a gorgeous covered passage, which reminded me of the burlington arcade in london but less touristy and crowded.

the question you are probably going to ask, is if i saw that pair of christian louboutin x marlon gobel gold spiked shoes. yes i did!

isn't that amazing! these are shoes fit for a king! i believe the official name is potpourri dandy, only 30 odd pairs were made, and that's the second last pair in store. since i am not quite willing to lose a kidney just yet, i did the next best thing...

nevermind i wore the wrong trousers and the wrong socks, the shoes were truly magical. these were first featured early last year as part of marlon gobel's fall winter 2011 collection. quite simply the most amazing runway shoes i've seen, and i really want to know who are the lucky collectors.

putting the gold spiked shoes back into the box, i had a little wander. the store is tastefully decorated and full of interesting little details. i have no idea what that little stool is for, but i guess it's used for shoe polishing?

the store's quite eclectic in it's furnishings and decor. an ex-star trek prop sits in one corner, and there's also a "tattoo parlour" within the store. customers can select certain shoes and customise them the way they like. let's take a look inside the parlour...

i could literally just move in here already. the most delicious rollerflats in studs studs and more studs!

loving the textured walls, as well as the matching studded/spiked display case.

one of my favourite shoes is the mikaraja, named after the singer mika and the maharajah-ness of the shoes. i've seen it in black patent leather, which frankly i wasn't too keen on. however this version in blue canvas is simply stunning. the decorations were all hand sewn by lesage embroiderers in india, known to be the best in the world, from the same skilled artisans who work for chanel, hermes etc.

really lovely, definitely one of my favourite pair of louboutin shoes ever.

what i really really love, and scoured the whole of london and now paris but to no avail: the cream colored pik boat sneakers. i love the simplicity of the shoes, but finished with an almost discreet parameter of spikes. this is super high on my wishist, if you find one in size 43, hit me up!

failing on the gold spiked potpourri, the gorgeous lesage mikaraja and the cream pik boat, i settled for three other pairs of spiked sneakers. would you believe, none of them are in my size? who in the louboutin world is hoarding size 43 sneakers, reveal yourself now.

the store is truly magical, and currently the only shop in the world to carry such a comprehensive line of men's shoes. it's just amazing, i wish for a similar store to open in london soon. the second men's store will soon open in new york's meatpacking district.

and oh, the icing on the cake will definitely be bumping into the designer himself outside the store. it was a great day! so, seen any shoes you like so far?

saw the above window outside nike town at oxford circus this evening. reminded me of madonna on graham norton's show a few weeks back, where she tell her kids to work hard in life and not cheat or cut corners. my dad used to say if i want to win the lottery, i need to make that effort to go get a ticket.

we dream of too many things, day dreamers and day trippers.

saw milan vukmirovic last saturday while waiting to get into the dior homme fall winter 2012 show at the tennis club de paris. he has an impeccable dress sense, really love the salt and pepper coat, paired with skinny white denims and nice brown suede boots.

and the street style photographer is really loving his prada camouflage.

fashion philanthropist cameron silver was pictured at the giambattista valli couture show in paris yesterday. the founder/co-owner of pre-loved luxury boutique "decades" wore a checked trench coat with side toggle details from alexis mabille fall winter 2011. he paired the coat with a leather hat and leopard print shoes from christian louboutin.

i really like the coat, loving the small but beautifully shaped collars, to the nicely belted cuffs. never thought leopard prints would go with the coat, but i am also liking it here. loving the whole look, nice!

J.Lindeberg Spring Summer 2012

visited j.lindeberg a few months back to preview their spring summer 2012 collections. thought now would be a good time to post the pics as pieces from the collection are slowly arriving in stores. loving the burst of colors, reminding me of long strolls by the beach, sunsets and the smell of the sea. if i remembered correctly, the collection is about the swedes holidaying by the islands/coasts, like the hamptons equivalent in sweden. nice transitional clothing from the boats to the beaches to that dinner by the bay.

one of my favourite piece from the collection, simple but great execution.

the distressed corduroys were a surprise, but i really like them. i would pair it with the above striped sweater too.

loving the smart yet utilitarian jacket, sporty and stylish. i would wear this over the striped sweater and distressed corduroys. lovely!

also loving this contrasting sleeved cardigan. a simple orange knitwear with sleeves of a darker shade. stylish basics.

my favourite is this gorgeous brown suede jacket. classic investment piece, i would wear it with all of the above really. i do pick out my favourites! the pieces should be in stores right about now, go check them out.

Dior Not War - Dior Homme Fall Winter 2012

i was in paris last saturday, not exactly there for paris menswear fashion week but i thought since i'm there might as well catch a show. the only show i was keen on watching that day, was dior homme's. never mind it was a little out of town, as monsieur neuville mentioned on twitter, "you come to dior, dior doesn't come to you". titled "a soldier on my own", kris van assche sent out an army of lonesome warriors. lots of military green, oversized cloakes and coats, paired with baseball caps and finished with contrasting soled boots.

the show venue was at the tennis club de paris, a huge show space but still overcrowded and exploding at it's seams. that was the moment when karl lagerfeld arrived.

front row was full of heavy weight figures. from whom i recognised: LVMH's bernard, delphine and antoine arnault, karl lagerfeld, berluti's artistic director alessandro sartori and model anja rubik. also spotted designers haider ackermann, milan vukmirovic, US actor/musician jared leto and taiwanese artiste nicky wu (吴奇隆).

one of my favourite looks, is this hooded body warmer layered underneath a suit jacket.

there weren't many bags featured in the show, but when they do it's show stopping. the crocodile leather tote in the most perfect shade of glossy green, seriously loving.

favourites were the voluminous coats, love the whole styling and shape.

most of the coats were split at the back, all the way up to the collars, rather interesting.

a little safe, but still lovely collection. love the finale where all of dior's soldiers marched out in unison. do you like this collection?

Nixon Mellor Wrist Watch in oxide

we've seen many that tried to produce the vintage, worn out, pre-loved feel to varying degrees of success. the above nixon mellor wrist watch is one of the best i've seen, the attention to detail is pretty good. the watch face is carefully oxidised to give that warm champagne color. the watch straps also carefully tanned and slightly distressed to give it an authentic vintage feel.

i tell myself not to buy anymore quartz watches, but at £120 this very handsome fella might just sway me. the watch is also available online from oki-ni.com.

totally frivolous buy from last weekend: the facebook style stamps! now we can flip through magazines and put a stamp on anything!

totally useful when you want to hint to someone that you really really really like that pair of burberry prorsum spring summer 2012 lace-ups. it was £12 at urban outfitters (the stamps, not the shoes! and £12, they having a laugh!?), now reduced to a fiver for the pair. go wreak havoc!

last sunday was the first free day i enjoyed since 2nd jan. sounds dramatic, but being called back to the office for three weekends in a row is quite frankly mentally exhausting. i am not complaining, the economy is so fragile at the moment i believe in giving a little more. a day spent working is a day not shopping and spending frivolously. managed to get last sunday off, so i went to get a haircut and a little massage. comfort was key, so i opted for my well worn topman chinos, utterly distressed converse sneakers, a white tshirt with my quilted balenciaga jacket circa fall winter 2009. comfort, i needed that.

and i wore my vintage jaeger le-coultre watch. love.

i am seriously loving that waxed cotton field jacket, am really thinking long and hard about it. i think for many others, the highlights from the burberry prorsum menswear fall winter 2012 show on saturday, were the studded portfolios and the duck-headed umbrellas. as with that gorgeous field jacket, the studded portfolio can be ordered straight off the runway till 22nd jan for delivery within eight weeks.

and i passed by christian louboutin at mount street yesterday, guess what i saw! he was the one that gave us studded shoes, so the studded portfolio should not come as a surprise. you know what's freaky? the head of the shoe horn they were using resembled the duck-headed umbrellas. i really should have stole a picture. go check it out yourself!

British Olympians Iain Percy, Louis Smith and Sir Matthew Pinsent for Alfred Dunhill Spring Summer 2012 campaign

alfred dunhill unveils their spring summer 2012 ad campaign today. into the third season of their "voice" series, the campaign casts notable brits for their achievements. previous poster-boys range from the great explorer sir ranulph fiennes (age 68), to violin virtuoso charlie siem (age 26). i really love the "voice" campaigns, it's so anti-fashion in a way but done so beautifully with stunning black and white portraits. it's not just about looking at a campaign and wanting that bag or the pair of shoes, but wanting to be that person who managed to achieve all these things and have all these great stories to tell.

and with the london olympics coming up this summer, alfred dunhill featured three british olympic hopefuls/honouree for their latest ad campaign, this is one amazing partership. i find it is often difficult casting athletes in fashion ad campaigns. not everyone can pout like david beckham or revel in tiny pants like cristiano ronaldo. but "voice" is an amazing platform, and the olympians really are a great fit, because it's more about the individual and less about the products they are hawking. but still i am seriously in love with that shawl neck jacket above.

i won't lie, double olympic champion iain percy's campaign is my favourite. those tousled manes, manly beard and steely gaze wouldn't look out of place in a fashion magazine at all. joining the british sailor is 23 year old gymnast louis smith, as well as sir matthew pinsent (above), who won four consecutive gold medals at the olympics rowing events.

they had sir david frost in their first "voice" campaign, then sir ranulph fiennes, and now sir matthew pinsent. you really have to be knighted by the queen to be featured in alfred dunhill's campaigns. more pictures and stories on dunhill's facebook page.

my favourite style icon is in milan! japanese footballer/model hidetoshi nakata [中田英寿] was pictured at yesterday's roberto cavalli menswear fall winter 2012 show in milan. nakata wore the khaki green long coat from balmain homme fall winter 2011. love love love nakata, hope to see more of him as fashion week moves along.

the balmain homme military coat is now 70% off at mr. porter, and 30% off at farfetch. hmm.

british boxer amir khan attended the burberry prorsum menswear fall winter 2012 show in milan yesterday. last season they invited tennis ace andy murray, this season they opted for amir. the professional boxer wore a long wool coat with cloth covered buttons, similar in style to the khaki coat above. he looks smart, but i would style him differently. i think a shorter cropped jacket will do him more justice. being a boxer he has a great body, the long coat isn't doing anything but to emphasise his lack of height.

ok he could knock me out in one punch here. love you amir! so, what do you think?
