It's a bit of a marketing approach, but the end result is the same, regardless. You see, bees have been dieing off and the company (along with Mother Nature) needs the striped insect to maintain their use of 1 million pounds of almonds a year. To help save the bees, Häagen-Dazs is developing an area dedicated to bees at the University of California, Davis - an area that will include a half-acre, $65,000 bee-garden. Sweet! The World Community Grid is an IBM-funded project that ties people's personal computers into a grid or supercomputer that is used to tackle scientific research projects. One such project is the Clean Energy Project. This one seeks to find new combinations of organic materials for the next generation of solar cells and later, energy storage devices. The Clean Energy Project will process over 1 million configurations of atoms in the next two years. The time it would take without such an effort - 20 years! This prohibits gays from openly serving. In other words, don't tell us your gay, we'll let you risk your life for us, and if we do happen to find out that you're gay, then we'll kick you out. This could someday change, however, as a group of retired general and admirals is actively seeking to change the current policy. It is estimated that there are approximately one million gay and lesbian veterans in the United States today [PinkNews.co.uk].
