I am always exploring new things about blogger and blogging and this time I am back with a new thing that is Amp blogger templates/themes. The reason I am sharing amp templates is that Google shows many results(mobile results especially) having this symbol ⚡ which is of lightning so these pages loads with speed of lightning meaning so fast ! Although I don't use AMP template because I have my special template and I am obsessed with it, I just can't change it. But may be other people like this new type of template design so I selected some best blogger amp themes/templates. How To Show More Relevant Ads - Google Adsense

If you are an old Adsense use you might have noticed that if you visit your blog though your IP or though any proxy or VPN, you always end up seeing ads that are totally irrelevant and not matching your interest or search queries which is totally against Adsense statement that they show interest based ads to your visitors. I also noticed this thing and searched for this thing and came to this conclusion that I have to change some settings in my Google Adsense so I thought to share this trick with you so that you can maximize your Google Adsense earnings by showing interest based ads to your visitors.

Google calls it Personalized ads previously called Interest based advertising in which Google Adsense uses visitor's browsing history to serve ads but it is actually a bad idea that is explained below in this post.

So in this post I will show you how to show more relevant ads by making changes in your Google Adsense account.

How To Make Google Adsense Show Relevant Ads / Interesting Ads?

Step 1: Go to your Adsense account and login to it.

Step 2: In the menu on left hand, click on Allow & block ads > Content > All my sites.

Step 3: Click on Ad serving and disable "User-based ads - show ads based on users’ interests, demographics, and Google Account information, and allow Google to collect visitation information from my site to create interest categories. Note, this control does not affect remarketing."

Step 4: Wait for sometime for changes to apply !

How it works?

So that the advertisers choose ads on your blog not Google, because Google collects data from each user and show him ads which are mostly not of there interest and advertisers choose to show ads on a site by keywords of that site so if your visitor search for shoes or fashion items and google starts showing shopping ads on your blog, your visitors won't click these ads because they are not on your site for shopping but for some other purpose that is your blog content and on the other hand if Google is not showing ads by user data and advertisers are showing keywords related data like for my blog they will show ads about seo or making money which is of my user's interest. So I will get more clicks when advertisers will show ads related to my content not user search based.

But in the past years it has become clear that meta tags are not part of search engine optimization any more.

What is "meta keywords" tag?

May be you are not a regular Seo reader so let me tell you what meta keyword tag is. Its shown below:

Above is the meta keyword tag and it contains keywords relevant to my blog content and the purpose or goal of this tag is to tell search engines is to show your blog when a particular keyword is searched.

Death of Meta keywords tag:

In the year 2009, Google officially announced that "Google doesn't use keywords meta tag". And the reason for this is mentioned on Google's official blog:

"In those days, keyword meta tags quickly became an area where someone could stuff often-irrelevant keywords without typical visitors ever seeing those keywords. Because the keywords meta tag was so often abused, many years ago Google began disregarding the keywords meta tag."

So now Meta keywords tag has very little importance, almost none !

Beware Of Google's Mobile Site Pop-up Penalty

Can My Site Get Penalized For Using Meta Keywords?

I am sure after reading above part of the post you must have question of getting penalized for using meta keywords tag but the answer is "No", Google doesn't penalize your site for this because it is not even important for Google, they just don't use keywords but on the other hand Bing uses meta keywords and is very strict about it and will penalize any site which have a meta keywords tag containing keywords not relevant to that site.

Yahoo and Bing Still use meta keywords:

As stated earlier in this post that Bing uses keywords meta tag and is also very strict about it, let me mention here that even Yahoo doesn't uses meta keywords tag anymore but has not officially announced that.

Bing says in 2014:

"Today, it’s pretty clear the meta keyword tag is dead in terms of SEO value. Sure, it might have value for contextual ad systems or serve as a signal to ‘bots plying the web looking for topics to target, but as far as search goes, that tag flat lined years ago as a booster."

Bing has same reason for not using meta keywords tag that people have abused it to get traffic for certain keywords that wouldn't even be present on that page which contained the keywords tag.

What about other Meta tags, Can I use them ?

Ofcourse, you can use other meta tags but many of them has no value so you better check them before using them. I have also removed many useless meta tags and you can view it by viewing source code of this page and other pages. You can check Google meta tags page for which meta tags Google uses.

What if I still use "Meta Keywords" tag ?

Well there is no problem in using them but it has no value.

Google Adsense Ads Accidental Clicks, What To Do?

Does it happened with you too? Did you also clicked your adsense ad accidently? if yes then you must be worried about penalty(ban) which brought you here! , I was also worried like you the first time I clicked my own ad accidentally. But don't worry you are not going to get banned by Google Adsense. Google AdSense policy clearly mentions that as a publisher, you cannot click on your own ad otherwise you will get banned. In an article named, “Accidents Happens”, “Google mentions that you don’t need to contact them every time this happens. They will not ban you from clicking it accidentally but consistently repeating the same mistake will prove damaging.” As a Magento development company, you must know the following tricks to avoid those accidental clicks:
1. Invalid click contact form

If you sense more than usual click on your ads then the best thing to do is, notify Google AdSense about it through “Invalid click contact form”. In this way, AdSense will know you weren’t aware of the invalid click and are not falsely increasing your earnings.
2. Fast clicks are not real clicks

Advertisers do not value fast clicks. That’s the reason they get ignored being detected as accidental clicks. So, don’t get worried about them as they are not the actual clicks.

3. Edge clicks lack value

For touchscreens on mobile devices, the fat finger is a reality. On average the size of a finger pad is around 50pixels. Accidentally touching the edge of an ad while swiping through the mobile screens happens all the times. Intentional clicks have high conversational rates and more user intentionality. So, edged clicks lack value as compared to those that came from interior ones. Google recommends to protect edge clicks by increasing the size to 150 pixels.

4. Use line breaks

For DIV, use one line break prior to DIV and one before initiating AdSense code and also one after the AdSense code. This will blend in well with both mobile and desktop within the on-page elements. If you cannot do it, hire Magento developer.

5. Who sees ads Plugin

This Plugin prevents the publishers from clicking on their own ads. “Who sees ads Plugin” also allows you to decide the type of visitors you want to have access to your ads.

6. Click Bomb-Protect Plugin

Click bombing begins when your CTR exceeds the limit. You can easily avoid click bombing by adding a code to code of your ad. This plugin is supported by all themes and is user-friendly. Most importantly, you can restore your Ip address after being banned by AdSense.

7. Install Google publisher tool

But remember, accidents cannot happen frequently, excessive own clicks may ban you from the program. At that time we suggest you to add an extension to the Google chrome, through which you will be aware of the URL of the blocked ad. Here is how you will do it; Search for Google publisher tool in chrome, click on “Add to Chrome” then select “Add extension”. Its icon will appear on your screen. Click on the icon and “Allow” it to access your account. Now sign in to your account and publisher tool will create an overlay on your on your own ads.

Conclusion

Accidentally clicking on your own ads is not a big deal but doing it constantly either intentionally or unintentionally can block your Ip address. There are a lot of ways of preventing it which are discussed in this article.

When it come to designing blog, I am always ready to find something new. Today I really brought something new for you and I am sure you don't know anything like this. Have you ever noticed chrome color change while surfing your blog though your smartphone on Chrome? I think you still don't know what I am actually talking about. So I have a screenshot here.

In before part of the above image you can see that the browser has a dull color and after redesign the browser became black. So its good for site design and brings more professional look. So in this post I am going to teach you how to change chrome color with your site using a simple meta tag.

How To Add Theme Color Using Meta Tag In Blogger To Change Chrome Color In Mobile?

Step 1: Go to blogger and login to your account, choose the blog in which you want to make changes.

Step 2: Go to Theme and click on Edit Html.

Step 3: Click inside your theme code and use CTRL+F on keyboard.

Step 4: Search for <head>, you will find it in very initial part of your theme code.

Step 5: Copy below meta tag and paste it below <head>.

Step 4: Click on Create New Form.

Step 5:

» Set My Goal as Collect Emails.

» Select Welcome Mat as email collector(Form type).

» Choose design from list.

» Choose visibility Mode:

Step 7: Now connect your welcome mat to a Email service, so when it collects emails for you then send it to your Email service which you use to send emails to visitors.There are many good email services, choose one which you use and connect it to your welcome mat.

Step 8: Click on Publish button and its done!

If you are using feedburner then don't connect to any email service, all collected emails will be saved in your sumo account in subscribers section. You can copy each email and send it your latest post and add it to your feedburner list manually but your visitor will receive emails only when he approves your feedburner to send emails to him.

I personally use Mailchimp to send emails to my blog subscribers and it is a very good email service because its easy to use and provides me full data about every subscriber, whether he opens my emails, visit links or no. So I know which subscriber is active.

Have you swiped next or back while surfing your blog's mobile site on your phone? If yes then you might have wished to remove this thing from your blog because sometime it is swiped next or back without intention and it is a negative thing for your user experience. Tips To Get Sitelinks In Google Search Results - Blogger

Sitelinks are some links that are showing below site in search engines. Its not just in Google search results but in Bing, Yahoo and also in Yandex. There is no idea how to get sitelinks, even Google says that sitelinks are automatically generated links to help visitors reach important pages of your site. Also you have no control over which page you want in sitelinks and also there is no code which can do it. You might be thinking that if nothing is known about sitelinks, how am I going to get it for my site ? Well, the answer is simple you will get it as I got them !

What Are Google Search Result Sitelinks:

Above is the sceenshot of sitelinks of my blog. If you search "101helper" oon Google you will see the sitelinks live. These are featured links from my blog and are shown to visitors to help them reach deeper pages or help them to reach the content of interest on a site.

Note that sitelinks never remain the same they change time to time and we have no control over it. Google allowed webmasters to remove certain links from sitelinks but now this feature is gone from webmaster tools so you can't remove URLs from sitelinks even if these are not of visitor's interest.

Though, you can control it indirectly by blocking these pages from index using meta tag or robot.txt.

Why Sitelinks Are Important ?

1. Sitelinks Increase CTR(Click through rate):

If you search a site and it doesn't have sitelinks, you will just click on the main site URL because you have no other option but if you search a site and it has sitelinks, you may like to click on something from the sitelinks which will grab your interest. So it increases your pageviews plus CTR.

If your site doesn't have sitelinks yet then before using tips below go to your webmaster tools and click on search analytics, take a sceenshot and compare it later with your click-through-rate. You will see an increase in CTR and also traffic.

2. Sitelinks Increase Visitors Trust:

Sitelinks makes a site look professional and increases visitors trust in your site which results in more bookmarks and more visiting because they trust your site.

3. Sitelinks Shows Your Rank:

Sitelinks are shown only below these sites which have a good rank. Rank is improved when you have good content, good traffic and your site is more social. So your fans will see that your site has a good rank so it improves your reputation.

4. Sitelinks Shows Featured Content From Your Site:

1. Make Content:

I got sitelinks below my site first time when my posts were above 50 and appeared only when I searched "101helper" on google.com not on google.com.pk or google.co.in so it means that sitelinks may take more posts to appear on country specific Google.

2. Submit Site To Webmaster Tools:

Its best to submit your blog to all search engines i.e bing and yandex also.

3. Markup Your Site Navigation:

Your blog menu or navigation should be markedup with schema, it means alot because after marking up site navigation with schema you are actually telling search engines that certain part of your site is navigation and later the menu items start appearing as sitelinks. 4. Customize Your Blog's Robots.txt:

Make sure that the robots.txt you are using is not blocking pages from crawling or not disturbing index status in any way. You can see your blog's robot.txt by visiting http://yourblog.blogspot.com/robots.txt. If you can see that these is no blocking then it good. Many bloggers disallow static pages(contact page, about page and sitemap page etc) in robots text which results in disappearance of these pages in search results. So if you have done this then even if you makeup your menu or navigation and your menu items include sitemap page, contact page etc, you will never see these pages in sitelinks and also it may take some more posts for sitelinks to appear because more content means sitelinks. If you have disallowed pages from appearing then only posts will appear as sitelinks.

Share your posts and blog URLs as many time as you can, join facebook groups, Google groups and other sites where you can get your URLs shared, it will not only bring you some social traffic and followers but also it will improve your sites social impact and improve your search rank.

By choosing a short and unique name for your blog, your visitors don't only remember your site but also use it in search and when there are more searches, you start getting sitelinks and popularity. How To Markup Site Navigation In Blogger For Seo

There are certain things about seo and blogging that only professional bloggers and webmasters know and are not told to everyone and if told everybody don't understand it. One of these things is marking up site navigation with schema which helps search engines know what is site navigation element and it is helpful to get sitelinks below site in google search results.

Its a little bit complicated to markup site navigation with schema but I will show you step by step and after final step we will verify if we correctly marked up site navigation or not. Popular websites and blogs are using this method to tell Google what is in menu and hence in the sitelinks these menu is shown.

Although it is not guaranteed that you will get sitelinks below your site in search results but it will markup your navigation and whenever you will get sitelinks, your menu items will be included in sitelinks. I am not guaranteeing because according to Google sitelinks are automatically generated links below websites to help visitors reach what they are looking for. It is also unknown what is the criteria for showing specific items in sitelinks but marking up site navigation has impact on it as I experienced !

So lets start marking up site navigation with schema for search engines.

Step 1: Go to your blog theme or layout where your menu code is.

Step 2: Add below line inside your menu's <div> or <nav> or <ul>:

Step 3: Add itemprop='url' to your menu's every item "link attribute" like this:

Step 4: Now add itemprop='name' to your menu item names, you can't add it directly so use <span> attribute and add itemprop='name' as I did for my menu, look it below:

Step 5: Do it for all your menu items one by one.

Note: If your menu items do not have <li> attribute, it doesn't matter but you need to markup all the <a> and <span> attributes.

Step 6: After you are done go to Google Structured Data Testing Tool.

Step 7: Put your blog URL and RUN TEST .

Step 8: Look for SiteNavigationElement, if you found it and there is no errors or warnings then its cool and you did it correctly, Congratulations !

Backlinks Violating Google's Guidelines (Autobacklinks Pros & Cons)

My blog reader asked me to write a post about auto backlinks building and its cons and pros so I decided to tell you about auto backlinks building and other backlinks that violate Google's guidelines for webmasters so you can avoid these backlinks generating methods and save your blog from Google penalties.

Before telling you about types of backlinks that violate Google's guidelines, let me tell you first what is autobacklinking. Auto backlinking is a way to get free backlinks without working hard, though it is easy way and works for sometime but if you get penalized then all your work go in vain.

There are many software that do it all you need is to put your link and make backlinks, some online tools are also available for this work. But I don't recommend it because these backlinks are not from sites which are similar to your site topic and these backlinks doesn't have value. Also there is a high risk of penalty.

So auto backlink generating methods are not successful and you should avoid them, here are some more backlink generating methods that should also be avoided. I recommend you to create backlinks on big websites that allow "dofollow" backlinks like Pinterest. To check if you are penalized by Google, check your blog or site stats from the day you started creating backlinks and if you have a decreased organic traffic(traffic from search engines) it means your site is penalized. Other ways to check is to search your indexed URL's on Google by using this link site:yoursitelink.com if you can see your site indexed then it means your site is not penalized and you are still on Google.

Still other ways to find if you are penalized you can search for online tools.

Types Of backlinks That Violate Google Webmaster Guidelines:

1. Paid Backlinks:

Ofcourse if you are buying backlinks to improve your search rank you are doing black hat seo and its against Google's guidelines. So avoid it.

2. Backlinks Exchange:

Some people exchange backlinks to help each other improve site rank and it works fine unless they start link exchanging with more and more sites and when they do it, their improved rank is noticed by Google and Google Penalize them because it is a black hat seo technique to improve rank, also most of the link exchangers do not have good engaging content so penalty becomes must as it is proved that without having good content how can a site get so many backlinks.

3. Irrelevant Backlinks:

Irrelevant backlinks are those links which are from sites which are not similar to your site for example if you have a blog about PC games or fashion and you have backlinks from sports or movie blog then these backlinks are considered to be irrelevant and it happens when you are using auto backlinks generator or you are exchanging links.

4. Links From Sites with broken links:

If you have backlinks from sites or blogs which have many broken links then these are bad for seo. Broken links are not even good for that site then how can these sites improve your rank which have so many broken links ?

5. Automatically Generated backlinks:

If you search on Google or on Fiverr or any other freelancing site or even on Facebook groups you will find guys which offers you to buy their package and get 10K to 15K backlinks for just $5 or less or more but never accept such offers. It sounds so good to have 10K or 15K backlinks overnight but it will penalize your site within days or weeks so all your work will be wasted. All these backlinks are generated by bots and software and are usually on blanks pages or high ranked website or in forums or in comments. Avoid Automatically generated backlinks if you don't want your website to be penalized.

6. Backlinks From Other Language Websites:

It does not have a major role because my blog(101Helper) also have backlinks from websites with other languages e.g Hindi, Russian, Spanish etc but all these websites are similar to my blog so it is not considered a bad seo technique but if you have backlinks from websites with other languages and also it is irrelevant then its not good and you can get penalized.

7. Generating Backlinks With Coding:

If you are generating your blog or site link on other websites by using CSS or Javascript or other programming language and hiding them then its against Google's guidelines, If your links comes with plugins and is for copyright reason then its fine but if you are hiding them and the person doesn't know that certain code is making links on his site then it will become the reason for your site to get penalized. So avoid it!

8. Backlinks From Sites With Duplicate Content:

If you have backlinks on websites with same and duplicate content then it will affect your rank and you can get penalized so avoid this backlink technique.

9. Low Quality Guest Posting/Blogging:

Ofcourse guest blogging is best way to get quality backlinks and this technique will never die but low quality guest posting which is just to get backlinks is not good for seo.

There are many other ways to get backlinks but all these are black hat seo techniques which should be avoided otherwise your website will be destroyed.
How To know If My Blog Is Penalized By Google ?

If you see a major drop in organic traffic from Google then its a symptom that you are penalized by Google and to confirm it you can use online Google penalty checker and also you can check it manually by searching your site on Google using this link: site:yoursite.blogspot.com other way to confirm it is to look at your site index stats in Google webmaster tools.

How To Recover If My Blog Is Penalized By Google ?

Well, if you are penalized by Google for certain activities, I recommend you to reverse everything you did. Its like undoing all the bad seo activities. If you have generated low quality backlinks or if you have used a software for autobacklinking then use online backlinks remover or manually remove it.

In my opinion best way to get quality and safe backlinks is quality guest blogging and commenting manually on forums and blog and dofollow social networks like Pinterest, Linkedin etc.

We all know that popups are really beneficial to get followers, likers and traffic and thats why tools like Hellobar is used by many. I also use Popups because my visitors give response more to popups rather than sliders or fixed content. Similarly its very hard to get content shared so popups work for it too. And its important to get content shared because more sharing equals to more traffic. Popup share buttons are not new, many of use have used them but popup have either 5 or 6 buttons so visitor is limited to share content only to some social networks and may be he or she is not using any of these networks so it will be a waste of time you will not get content shared.

So I brought you a new idea, Why don't we use addthis popup sharer, it has all social buttons plus it doesn't need long coding and too many scripts so it doesn't slow down our blogs. So in this post I am going to share addthis popup sharer along with some customization. So you can get popup by the time when you want.

How To Insall Addthis Pop-up Social Sharer Widget In Blogger ?

Step 1: Go to your blog theme and edit your HTML.

Blogger Not Accepting Javascript / Error Parsing XML - Solved !

If you are blogging for even 2 months you must have seen this error once when you tried to add a javascript in you blog theme. This error appears when a javascript contains some symbols like $ or & or sometime =. All these errors show error when theme is saved. and the error says "Error parsing XML, line number, column number: The reference to entity "version" must end with the 'example' delimiter".

As shown in above image, blogger is not accepting Facebook like button code and showing error. To solve this error I have to simply make this code acceptable by blogger.

You might have problem saving codes of some ads like media.net ads, chitika ads, bidvertiser ads etc all these ads are sometimes not accepted by blogger so you can fix them by following this post and run ads or custom scripts.

How to add javascript codes in blogger without parsing error ?

Follow below steps:

(1). Grab the javascript code which you want to fix in to a notepad or paste it in your blog's <head> or elsewhere in your blog template.

(2). Copy below piece of Text / HTML tag.

(3). Now paste it after <script> or <script type='text/javascript'> of your javascript code.

(4). Now find the closing tag of your script i.e <script> and paste below piece of HTML above it.

Step 8: Right click on your index file you just created and edit it.

Step 9: Paste the copied code which you copied in step 7 and click on "SAVE & CLOSE"

Make following changes before saving:

1. Replace https://101helper.blogspot.com with your blog URL.

2. Change 40 if you want the widget to refresh automatically after desired time.

3. Change 5 to change number of posts.

Step 10: Now again right click on your file and click on "VIEW".

Congratulations ! now your refreshable widget in ready to be installed in your blog.

Step 11: Copy your file URL from the browser and replace it with YOUR LINK HERE in below code and copy the final code.

Before showing you how to install this ad unit let me tell you that this ad unit is not available for every Google Adsense user, to know are you eligible for this ad unit go to your Adsense account and create a new ad unit, if matched content ad unit option is there then it means you can use this ad unit.

Eligibility to use Matched content

Depending upon your site traffic your site may fall in one of the following categories.

1. Not eligible - Your site doesn't have a minimum requirements for traffic volume and number of unique pages.

2. Eligible but can't show ads yet - Your site have a minimum requirements for traffic volume and number of unique pages but still needs improvement.

Disadvantages Of Buying Custom Domain For Blogger

As you know that 101Helper was upgraded to the101helper.com some months ago and then it was again degraded to blogspot, the reason for this was that custom domain doesn't give you things that you expect and so it is not good to buy a custom domain in my opinion. So this post is on request and I am going to share my experience of why I upgraded 101helper to the101helper.com and why I degraded it back. I hope that if you are also thinking of upgrading your domain, you might get some advice from this post.

So the main goal to buy a domain is to:

1. Boost traffic.
2. Increase earnings.
3. Get popular and improve ranking.
4. Make a brand.

etc.

But actually you don't always get all the things mentioned above for example if you think you can increase your traffic after buying a domain then its wrong, reality is that after buying a domain you lose the traffic which you have gained. And similar to that if you lost your traffic you will ultimately lose your ranking, earnings etc. So here are the reasons to avoid buying a domain.

1. Its not free:

Everybody knows that buying a domain is not for free, although there are some domain name providers that give you a discount but still you have to pay atleast $10 to buy a domain. There are some fake offers too like HOSTGATER says buy a domain for $0.01 but when you come to register they ask you to pay $20 or more for two years or whatever.

I purchased my first domain at Ipage and no doubt there service was good, always available to help but they were also lying at the time of buying domain like the offer "Get $100 in Google adwords after spending $25" and when I asked them about this offer they told me that this offer is available for USA only while at the time of purchasing domain they didn't tell the truth.

Similar to Ipage other domain registrars also use these fake tricks to get more customers as I mentioned Hostgator above.

2. Rank, Shares, Backlinks Lose:

When a blogger blog is upgraded to a custom domain Alexa and other ranking websites do not include the backlinks and shares of old blog so you get traffic from these sources but the rank and backlinks you got for the blog are no more. Also Alexa forgets the old blog after sometime so you lose everything.

3. Fake Pageviews:

I am not sure about all the domain providers but when I upgraded 101Helper to the101helper.com I saw a dramatic increase in my traffic but the sources were unknown and blogger was unable to track the viewing source. So I got 2000 to 3000 pageviews but ad-views were just 600 because it was real traffic.

4. Ad networks Lose:

Some ad networks like Google Adsense, Yahoo Gemini and Content.ad do not accept new domains easily and review site again and reject it so if you have a blog and got approved for Adsense or Content.ad are you upgrade to a domain, you'll be not allowed to show their ads until you get approved and the approval process starts again and its almost impossible to get approved for the new domain. Even after specifying that its the upgraded version of the same blog you are unable to use the same account and network. So it is a very big lose I guess.

5. Search Rankings:

After upgrading to custom domain "search ranking" is also lost. It means if your blog is on first page of search results it may go to 5th or 7th page of search results or it may even disappear and take months to re-appear again and the hard work you did to get you blog to top of search results is wasted. So if your blog is appearing on 1st or 2nd page of search results for a keyword then buying a domain would be a bad choice and your competitors will get a good chance to replace you.

6. Search Engine Results Intermixed:

You might have heard this first time but when a blogger blog is upgraded to a custom domain the search engine is confused and show mixed results and it happened with 101Helper also. When I upgraded to a custom domain, everything was fine for a month because Google, Bing and Yandex were busy in replacing old links with new domain links but after a month I found that my mobile site links with "?m=1" suffix were showing up in the desktop version of Google and I tried to fix it with Webmaster tools but unfortunately I was unsuccessful in doing so.

So visitors were viewing mobile site on desktop or desktop site on mobile which was bad for user experience and I was loosing traffic because of it.

7. Post Preview Feature Lose:

Blogger is the easiest platform for blogging and it has many features and among them a feature is that you can Preview a post while editing it or writing it or adding any ad inside it. But when a blog is upgraded to a custom domain this feature is lost (in my case it was lost) and when preview button is clicked, the whole page is crashed and nothing works so you have to close the whole browser while writing a post and it becomes very difficult to edit or write a post.

8. Encrypted Page(HTTPS) Feature Lose:

This is another feature which is lost after upgrading to a custom domain, it tells visitors that the page they are viewing is secure. So to get this feature back you have to pay for it and the amount they get for this feature is more then the domain price! So its better to get this feature for free.

9. Your Information Is Available to Everyone:

This is another thing that made me stop using custom domain which is they ask you the info and allow public to view it and to secure this info they again ask you to pay.

10. You Don't Have Full Control:

Blogger gives you full control over your blog but domain providers don't. Such as you can't make changes in your DNS in case of mine I was not able to do so. So I had to go to support everytime I wanted to make changes in DNS. And when I asked them to let me control my domain's DNS they said you are not allowed to do so, first buy a hosting (not domain) which was of $30 and then you will be allowed to make changes in DNS.

11. Fake Offers To Get Customers:

As I mentioned above many registrars like Hostgator and Ipage have fake offers in their promo pages and banners e.g free adwords credit, seo marketing tools, FTP features(upload files), Email sending feature. All these offers are just to attract visitors and these are just tricks to get more customers and sell their packages.

Confusions And Wrong Concepts

Ad Networks Approve Custom Domains:

You might have read alot of posts on other blogs and websites that some ad networks like Google Adsense is approved when you have a custom domain which is absolutely a wrong concept. The reason for this confusion is these bloggers and website owners actually want to refer you to domain providers and get commissions.

PageRank Increase Slowly With Subdomains:

Almost all bloggers favoring custom domains write in their posts that buying a custom domain is the first requirement to gain a good rank which is again a very wrong concept because you can check many sites which are registered for years but rank is not that good.

More Shares And Followers:

Another wrong thing that I have read in some blogs and websites is that your post social media shares get increased along with your social followers when you have a custom domain which is again a wrong concept and the reality is that if you have a good, helpful, meaningful content that people like they will surely share, bookmark and read your content and also they will follow you because they like your content and they don't want to miss more content in future.

Reputation:

This is also a wrong concept that if you have a custom domain then you have a good reputation because I have seen many blogs which have better design, more followers and more readers than websites. So if you thing that purchasing a custom domain is going to help your reputation then its wrong!

Conclusion:

I am not against domain registrars, I am just sharing my experience. Although some people get success by upgrading to Domain but if you are starting a new website then you should start it from domain and not from blogger because it takes a long time and hard work to make a successful blog and then after upgrading you don't get full of it. So in my opinion if you want to start a domain later after success in blogging then its not good choice. Also if you are beginning a website then choose the best domain provider and also your website should have a topic that will rock otherwise you can't get success in websites.
