I've been working hard this holiday weekend on Graduation Invitations. Our oldest niece is graduating soon, and I was honored & touched that her & her Mom asked if I could make the invites for them:)

I ended up with three designs, mostly out of necessity. The first one had way too many gems and the red bow in the diploma was not making it look right in my opinion. So I removed it! lol I use the purple rhinestones until I ran out, then I switched to black, (easily found in my stash!) I was trying to keep the costs low. All in all, I feel good about making 53 invites for $32.00.

If the invites look funny....its because I'm trying to figure out the scanner without the husband home...lol. I'm sooo proud of the fact I figured out how to "white out" all the personal info so I could post them here! lol

I used Core’dinations Pearl Black Cardstock, And Core’dinations Purple cardstock.

I wanna know.......where did the weekend go? Boohoo! Its off to work bright and early tommorrow!! I did get back into cleaning my scrap room again. I'm trying to organize by colour. Its a lot more work than I thought, but I hope it allows me to use my stash better!
Just spent some money over at Art Freckles tonight! I'm super excited about the new kit coming up and added to my copic collection as well! Good Stuff!

Today Hubby & I went to the DIA to see the Fakes, Forgeries & Mystery Exhibit...... I was not impressed. First no one told us we needed to purchase additional tickets to get in! We paid our $8 each to get in, and then found the exhibit, and were told we needed tickets! Another $16.00 later and we were in. It was not as interesting as I thought it would be. All I can say is that they hired a very good marketing firm. It got us there! I did see some Picasso's and some of Andy Warhol's art while we were there. So I can strike that off my bucket list. Picasso's self portrait was interesting....to me, he looked like Ricky:)

I thought I'd start a new thing called "Technique Tuesday" to share some of the cool things I've found out there in the world wide web:) I'm hoping to inspire myself to actually scrapbook, and possible inspire you too:) On a Plus side, it will at least get me to blog more, and thats a goal I have set for myself this year:)

Family Day & Helena's Birthday!

Can you believe its Family day? Time Flew so fast this weekend! Its the first weekend in eons that M & I are home together for 3 days straight! Its been sooo nice! So today we went and celebrated Family Day by going to the movies. We were suppose to go to the DIA, to see the Fakes, Forgeries & Mysteries exhibit, but who knew the museum would be closed on a Monday? Not Us! I'm glad hubby checked before we went:) So we went and saw "Unknown" . It was very good. Keeps you guessing, that's for sure!

So on the way home Hubby and I had a serious discussion about starting our own family. All I can say is that its good stuff, and I'm sooo glad we talked:)

And I wanted to take a moment to wish my BFF a very happy birthday!!! You go Girl! Love ya!!

Dad Wins Molson Masters Bowling Tournament in Windsor:)

I'm so proud of Him. He's very passionate about his bowling, and he's worked so hard for this. We heard all last week how excited his was to qualify for the tournament, and how nervous he was to be on TV. He was so worried his was going to "choke", and in the end he exceeded his expectations. You Go Daddio! This is so my Dad:

In the senior men's final, Essex's Richard McCloskey fired a sizzling 237 to comfortably win his first Molson's title.

The 63-year-old McCloskey beat his old friend Sid Scott, who tossed a solid 215.
"I told him before we even started the day that I wanted to face him in the final," McCloskey said.
"I wanted to win, but if I wasn't going to win, I'd be happy losing to a good friend.
"He taught me a lot about how to bowl."
The turning point in the match came midway through the contest when Scott got stung with a dreaded seven-10 split.
With McCloskey heating up with a string of strikes, he was able to exploit the open frame to seize control of the match.
"I just had to control my nerves," McCloskey said.
"I was nervous all week. I've never been on TV before."
McCloskey said if he could control his nerves, he was in fine form the past week.
On Wednesday at Ruthven's Empire Lanes, he'd rolled a 300 game. McCloskey had also tossed two 700-plus series this week.
"I'm really proud to win this," McCloskey said.
"Every bowler here is very good. Every bowler here I felt was actually better than I was.
"I was fortunate to come out on top and I'm feeling pretty good having never been in this position before."

So Dad is going to donate part of his winning to the Junior Bowlers that are going to BC from Ruthven. What a guy! That's a total Dad thing to do:) xoxo

Oh Blog,

You have been neglected this last little bit. I've done a lot since May. I'm still not getting along with all of my family. I tried really hard up until August. I had a wonderful bridal shower. Hosted by my mother, my beautiful, oldest, dearest friend in the whole wide world, and a sister that I used to get along with. I'm not really sure why she helped, I'm thinking my Mom had something to do with it. I'm now married. Been to Disney World. Changed my last name. Went down to Part Time Staus at Work. Adjusted to a new normal, with the husband doing shift work (first time for Us), and myself getting used to afternoons. Then came October. A girl quit at work, and another went off sick. Craziness begins. Crazy hours. Literally work, home, sleep. Dogs were mad at me. Then US Thanksgiving. Had a great time. Hosted 10 people, and my house finally looked good. (For a day) Then the busy season hit. Got real busy at work. Became Full time offically again. Christmas. Upset my Mom (but she won't tell), refused to drive 4 hours on Christmas day to see everybody. Took it easy on myself, went to his side on Christmas Day. Went to My side on Boxing day as soon as Mike got home from work. (He left two hours early). Less stress, less people to get upset over. Wish I could see every one on one day.....but in the end this was better. For Us. Less Driving. I actually enjoyed Christmas. I was sad that I could not see everyone, and a tiny bit sad that this is the route I had to go, but in the end, I did it. and I believe I'll do it again next year. I think the time has come that I can't be at my parents bright and early Christmas Morning, in my PJ's, raiding my stocking while helping preparing Christmas brunch. I REALLY missed Christmas brunch! lol and its soooo much fun to hand out the presents and watch everyone open them. Its my favorite part. But....to keep my sanity I choose to go to my hubby's side. It was a lot of fun too. New traditions for a new life. Sometimes its hard to grow up. Sometimes I wish my sister would. Then we might get along again. Then again, maybe we wouldn't.

So here it is January. In the Year 2011. I've got a new last name, I still feel the same. I'm (finally) combining our household after 5 years, learning to live as an "US", instead of a ME. I'm really looking forward to 2011. Lots of Love, Learning and Laughter in my future. I can feel it:)

I'm proud of the fact that I figured out how to get my wordpress blog here in blogger world. So its all under one roof now. I'm still a forum moderator at Art Freckles. I love it. I promise to update this blog more frequently. I promise to watch my sugar levels. I promise to treat myself right this year, both mentally & physically. I promise to get those Thank you notes worked on! This Month! I also promise to take down that damm Christmas Tree! and lastly I promise to FINALLY get my craft room in order. I'm itching.....may I repeat that... ITCHING to scrap!!

Now let me start off my saying....I know shit about football. When Denver is playing on our TV, I strategically scamper off to my 'crapbooking room & disappear for hours of uninterrupted bliss....

On that note, I'll tell you the rest of the story...

This morning I got to see the Grey Cup, In Person. I'm not completely stupid, I know what the Grey Cup is, but I just did not expect to see it at work:) Its an awesome old trophy, full of history, and makes you pause and go "awe" at first sight. I can only imagine the tears of joy & showers of sweat this cup has seen over the years. It is amazing & makes me understand a wee bit more why they all chase that ball around. Hell I'd be proud as hell to have that cup at my house:)

Let me say, Mr "JP" you were a very nice man to show my co-worker & I that cup. Thank you again:)

So......I still think that Grey Cup is really cool....I may even watch next year's game:)

Bekasiak brings home Grey Cup

The smile on J.P. Bekasiak's face Monday left his father with a warm feeling.

Cut by one Canadian Football League club and left in limbo for nearly a month before landing with the Montreal Alouettes, Bekasiak paraded around his parents' home hoisting the Grey Cup.

"It's a significant achievement," said his dad, P. Antoni Bekasiak.

"It's nice how he is with the Cup. He's proud and looking forward."

Bekasiak and his wife Grazyna left Poland in 1981 and came to Canada when their oldest child Kamila was just eight months old.

The family stopped in Edmonton, where J.P. and his sister Ann Marie were born.

The family then moved to Wingham, where brother Anthony was born. They settled in the Windsor area in 1991.

At six-foot-six and 280 pounds, it would only seem natural that J.P. would have played football, but the family had no history with the game.

"J.P. was always into something," Bekasiak said.

"He was in soccer for a long while. He was quick in soccer and then he moved to basketball."

It wasn't until Grade 12 that J.P. finally hit the football field and his father encouraged the move.

"I thought he had the physical attributes for football," Bekasiak said.

A year of high school football and a one-year stop with the Windsor AKO Fratmen eventually led to a scholarship at the University of Toledo.

A first-round pick by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Bekasiak thought he had found a home.

Brother Anthony even followed him this year to play football at McMaster.

J.P. Bekasiak, bounced from defense to offense and back to defense, was cut by Hamilton in the spring and waited a month before landing in Montreal.

He shed 40 pounds, moved back to defense and battled his way from the practice roster onto the dress roster for the Grey Cup.

In one of the most dramatic turn of events in CFL history, Montreal rallied from a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win the 97th Grey Cup.

Agony turned to ecstasy when Montreal kicker Damon Duval missed a would-be game-winning field goal only to see Saskatchewan called for too many men on the field.

Moving 10-yards closer, Duval hit the winner for a 28-27 victory.

"Those last five minutes were really difficult for me and a lot of guys," Bekasiak said. "It was really draining."

Bekasiak said even the post-game celebration was subdued.

"Everyone was tired from the emotional roller-coaster," Bekasiak said.

"We were just more relieved we won."

His personal celebration kicked off Sunday when Bekasiak got his turn with the Grey Cup, which will last until early today.

He's been hastily calling family and friends to see the Cup and share in his joy.

"It just rekindles all the memories of what a difficult year it was and what I had to do to get (the Cup)," Bekasiak said. "It's nice to share it with people who know what I've gone through the last year."

Getting a head start

on 2010. I thought I'd start using this blog, and letting my old one die off in blog land. I hadn't updated since May 19th, and I really wanted a fresh start to 2010:) I'm up in the air about completely killing the old blog off, it is a reflection of my life from my old SNS days, a lot of my old scrapbooking tutorials are still linked up, and visited every day, and I also started that blog back in '05. Shortly after I moved to the US. So I have mixed feelings about it, but for now, it will stay up:)

So......Lets see.....In a nutshell....

Since May 19th...

My sister had her bridal shower at the end of May. Facebook Photos are Here. It was lovely, it was also the last day to cross the border without a passport....so I was 45 minutes late, 15 minutes actually late from the start time. All because I was stuck in the tunnel.

In June we did the Relay for Life in Windsor, It rained like the Dickens, so we did not stay long.

In July I took the plunge and re-financed my credit cards. I now live a cash only lifestyle. Its been a long road to get too, but its very satisfying to pay cash along the way. Its a lot less stressful, that's for sure:)

In August, My sister was married. No Photos up yet:) It was a grand affair....a year and a half in the making, and over in 12 hours:)

In September....Mike and I got engaged:) Whoohoo!! (See Shannon, I told ya I'd eventually post it:) It happened while on vacation in Silver Lake, MI. I have some Facebook Photos Here:
We also had some "Family Photos" done in September - The Facebook Photos for that is here: Mel Brown was our photographer, and she did a fantastic job:)

October was spent dealing with Mike's Heart Problems (but really was acid reflux and did not know it till all the tests were done), Canadian Thanksgiving at Mom's & Halloween.

Come November, we got the house ready for US Thanksgiving. It was the first time his side has come to visit since I've moved in. In honor of the occasion we repainted the family room, bought a new couch & bench, and installed laminate & carpet in the family room. We also went to Stacey & Jason's lovely wedding, (had my truck die in the tunnel on the way home from that, (imagine me dressed up in heels and kicking my truck in downtown Detroit at 1AM)(but the wedding WAS FUN!), And Helena & Michael's baby girl Hope was born. She is an absolute doll. I'm still in shock my oldest friend in the whole wide world is really a Mom:) Hope is utterly beautiful, and I'm totally in love with her. Oh, and I'm happy to report that Thanks to my Mom's help, Thanksgiving dinner turned out well, (note to self - 15 pounds of potatoes is too much for this gang), and nobody was sick. I think they all had a good time:) Facebook Photos for the month of November is here:)

So now we are in December....Its a busy month in the courier business, so I was quite busy at work. I did make my own Christmas cards this year....the first time I scrapped in months:) I survived Christmas, I was SPOILED ROTTEN by my financé, my family, and my future family. I'm proud to say I had a cash Christmas, nothing went on the credit cards & I stayed in my budget:) So now you are all up to date....lol

Well, I know its safe to go to work tommorrow - Spitfires Won 2-1 over Kelowna tonight! Now as I type - The Wings are tied 2-2 with Obama's team..... they better kick ass tonight. Or a couple of certain co-workers will make my life a living hell at work. Moping......etc...and lets not forgot about DH - Oh Boy! He goes crazy over Detroit Play Off Hockey. Its Insane!

So I managed to watch the AI Finals Tonight. I totally think Adam rocked over Kris. This post has a great read on the show if you missed it. Never mind that it's titled 03/19/09 - its a big fat typo. BTW Kara's song SUCKED. Just felt the need to get that out there! Kris looked like he was in shock all night for being up on stage as one of the finals. Too bad it wasn't Danny!!

Other News:

What a day! I have officially lost my glasses. They are somewhere in this house. Very Scary. DH & I have checked everywhere - and no luck. Even the custom officer searching my truck this morning didn't see them. Darn!! lol
After work We bought ten, I repeat TEN tennis balls for the pups. They were in heaven! It was like watching the Easter egg hunt for dogs. Max had 7 in his pile, poor Maggie only had 3. But at least she brings the ball back for you to throw it again *giggles*

I've been officially informed that the Wings Won! Whoohoo!!

It's getting late - I think I'm overtired with all this rambling here,,,,rofl.

Savvy N Sassy Design Team Call

Savvy N Sassy will be looking for FIVE energetic and creative designers who love ribbon to join our design team!
If you are interested in receiving a new and exciting ribbon card in the mail each month filled with beautiful designs and colors then this call is for you!

As a design team member, we are seeking individuals who are interested in bonding with the team as a whole, have time to post and upload layouts to share and inspire with everyone on a regular basis. All applicants must be active in the forum/gallery in that they are familiar with our members and the overall environment of SnS.

Responsibilities

-Each month you will receive our Ribbon Kit of the Month in the mail. In turn, DT members are expected to post 3 projects with their kits. One project is 1 layout OR 4 cards OR 1 altered item. DT members are encouraged to do more than one type. For example: 2 layouts and 4 cards. These items created are not sole property of Savvy n Sassy. You will be able to post them in other online galleries, blogs, submissions etc. The only stipulation we ask is that you just add in the "ribbon provided by Savvy n Sassy" phrase when sharing your layouts. These projects are due no later than the 25th of each month and must be loaded onto the Savvy'n'Sassy blog by that date as well.

--A minimum of 25 posts a week on the message board. We encourage you to post more than that.

--Start new topics on the message board (5 - 6 are required/week)

--Post comments in the gallery, look at the projects and praise them.

--Post monthly challenges

--As DT members, we encourage you to do a minimum of at least one of the challenges posted each month other than your own.

--DT members will also be responsible for 1 or 2 "How to" entries on the Savvy n Sassy Blog, and participation in our online crop (we have one crop per 6 month term).

--Help with online crops (challenges, games, etc.)

--Post your Savvy'n'Sassy projects, contests and news on your personal blog.

Compensation

--A ribbon kit every month to design with.

--Design Team members will receive a discount on stock in store and free shipping on purchases with each months kit. (as long as they are lettermail, larger items will be charged extra)

We'll remember the fact her nickname is "Kitten", and also our fascination with the Joker (played by Heath, even though I still love Jack's version too)

It is one of my more simple LO's and one of my favorites too:) It's a 5X7 Photo, matted horizontally & vertically, inked and attached to the pretty Patterned Paper:) Added my Title and I've got my keepsake:)

And That is why I scrapbook to make sure I remember! lol With this memory I have in my thirties, I definitely need my scrapbooks when I'm older...rofl!

Since I posted last! Lots to catch up on:)

I believe this is the longest I've let the blog go, in like....ever:)

Lets see....in a nutshell....if I can get you all caught up on my life...*giggles*

Early Feb - Injured my hand at work. It was worse than it looked I guess. Modified Duties make me bored, and being short handed at work, also frustrated as well..... It's been let's see....10 1/2 weeks.. and at least I'm having more good days than bad days with it now:) Sometimes I think it would have been better to break the hand, and get a cast, than to bruise it, and then keep re-injuring it with walking the dogs, or picking up a plate, or even driving....it was crazy!!

Valentine's Day - DH got me Sapphire earings!! They are gorgeous, and I love them! He did wrap them in a hard drive box, so they seriously were a surprise! At first I was like, Thanks Honey, another hard drive - exactly what I needed...*giggles* That's the best hard drive ever, if you ask me!!!

March was the same - doing nothing, getting frustrated, etc. One thing this hand taught me - was that I spent too much time on this computer. So does DH. So we worked a few things out this month. Communication is the best relationship advice I can ever give anyone:)

The end of March brought some changes to my life, in the scrappy world. Just before the retreat with Annie's group, that week I believe, I became only a gallery moderator for SNS, and the board moderator for AF. I love both sites dearly, but with my hand and not scrappin for 8 weeks, I was at a cross road. (Best way to describe it) Now I have no deadlines, and less responsibility. At The retreat, it was the first time I could scrap what I wanted to, when I wanted to, in a long time. I usually end up catching up on DT stuff at crops and retreats. It was so liberating! Annie - you seriously rock at retreats girl!

So that brings me into April, DH was gone the last week in March, First of April. It was so quiet in the house...until Max heard an ant think or something:) I swear DH told him to go on guard duty while he was gone:)

I tell ya what was seriously sweet though, when I came home from the retreat, DH & I were both driving on 1-75, in the middle lane, doing 70mph. lol Only I was in Northern MI and he was in KY. lololol When I got home that afternoon, DH left me pretty flowers on the stove. I think he missed me:)

So I survived a week of Max Guard Duty - a whole lot of sleepless nights, NOT because DH was gone - but because he kept protecting me from the imaginary burglers in our house. Barking at 1AM & 3AM every night is not a fun experience. Specially when he's tearing downstairs like a bat outta hell and waking Maggie up:) Not fun, not Fun!! When DH finally made it home, I was like glad your home, Love you, now I'm off to bed:) And I did just that *giggles* I need my beauty sleep!!

Easter came and went, we had a great time at his sister's house. It was a lotta fun. They really get into finding the easter eggs too. Some seriously funny shit happened!!

This week - Mom and I started Missy's Bridal Shower invites. I have seriously worked out my wishblade. I started with two new mats, and I think they are almost done now:) But I've made approx 100 or so. 60 are completely done, and 40 or so to finish up tomorrow.

I think this gets me updated now!! LOL I'll update with some photos, if not this weekend - then this week:)
