I wonder…how many people actually use their words to say what they mean…

It’s been sometime since I’ve browsed Flickr Creative Commons for pictures to go with a thought I have. Today’s thought is shoes.

I was sitting here thinking about the kind of shoes I like to wear and the kind of shoes a friend of mine likes to wear. I don’t know why I was thinking about this. It was a thought that popped into my head and went from there. My friend Lola loves to wear 5″ heels and has no problem dancing in them. I don’t like wearing heels. I appreciate them but I’m a ballet flat sort of girl. I like my soles bendy and it to feel like I’m not wearing shoes. I loved the pair of ballet flats I had last year but they fell apart. That’s it for my comparing shoes to Lola. Lola wears flats too and has some rocking Chucks. Someday I want a pair of Converse and Toms. I don’t know why I haven’t bought any for me yet but I am still Converseless and Tomsless.

I think that concludes today’s thought about shoes except that I’m really wanting Converse and Toms now. I think I want a pair of Vans also but not really.

Today’s Mother’s Day, a day I don’t celebrate. I do call my mom and wish her a happy mother’s day because she does celebrate it and I’m not going to force myself opinions on her. I used to celebrate mother’s day. When #1 was a baby I made sure Hubby had enough hints to make it special for me. Umm…yeah…he forgot…I would end up crying later in the day because I couldn’t hold back anymore. This is him. He forgets his birthday. I eventually figured out I needed to tell him exactly what I wanted. I wanted to hear the words “Happy Mother’s Day” when I woke up. I don’t care for gifts. I want the words. Then I got to thinking…I’m not his mom. Ew. Also, I had friends that if the husbands didn’t make a big deal out of the day then there was bitterness and resentment. I had recognized that in me and didn’t like it. I started looking around at others…people who had lost their mothers…women estranged from their children…women who wanted children but weren’t able to…children that didn’t have parents… I started seeing pain associated with this day (and Father’s Day) and didn’t like it. To me everyday is mother’s day. I have my children. I don’t need a special day. I don’t need recognition. I want the others to not have pain. I’m pretty much like this with any holiday. I see the pain in others involved. Yes, the other holidays are low key too. Also, what about those who knew they didn’t want children therefore they didn’t. Shouldn’t they have some kind of recognition? I mean…not all children were planned so it’s not like this is a special thing being a mother. Umm… I might be going into another subject for another day. However, thank you to those that didn’t give in and have children when you knew you didn’t want them.

This semester is over. This has been by far my hardest semester and I don’t foresee it getting any easier. This is also the semester I learned the most so all the hard work has paid off I think. This is the first semester I didn’t freak out on my family because of stress and deadlines. I’ve come close but managed to pull it back. Breathe in…count to 4…breathe out…count to 4. I learned I can write papers with children running around, sick kids home, and kids not understanding the meaning of quiet. I usually have to have silence when I’m studying or writing but this semester wasn’t having any of that. This semester kicked my butt. I thought other semesters were bad… Ummm… I was wrong. I turned in the last of my finals today. The kiddos were in the other room playing when I told them I was done with school until August. We turned on the music, cheered, and danced.

My grandmother gave me this package of hair pins. I’ve had them for at least 18 years. I think of her every time I see them or use them. The package used to be full. I try to be careful to not lose anymore and put my hair pins back when I am not wearing them.

Everyone who knows me knows I love coffee. What most people don’t know is I have a couple of favorite coffee cups I like to use. I have four that are my favorite. They each have a shade of orange on them and make me happy when I look at them. I try to make sure I am able to use on of the four daily unless someone else pours my coffee then he/she grabs the first available coffee cup. My coffee experience is the same but I do enjoy drinking out of my favorite cups.

The Legos in the picture…those are mine…mine all mine. I don’t have to share with the kiddos. I have my first set of Legos. Mine. Not the tubs of Legos the kiddos have. Nope. I have Batman and Catwoman. Mine. I’m excited. I have my own Legos.

I love Batman. He’s filled with anger and isn’t forced to be nice to people. No one makes him behave well with others. He’s the ultimate AWESOME!

I’m guessing today was national puppy day. I think I saw that trending on twitter. I could be wrong. Anyway, I was walking by my dog this evening and tossed my blankie down. I happen to glance and see her cuddling with #3′s puppy. It was too cute.
