Weekend ahead, lets go! On friday Flipperi from Top Billin & myself will be playing this Varieté Liberté thingy in the old UFA Palast cinema, on saturday its once again time for Odonien alongside Lando Kal, Lil Silva, JTRP and a couple of other ppl. Facebook here, cannot wait.

Wow. I finally managed to record a mix I’m almost satisfied with, who would have thought. Not too many tracks in there but those included are mostly played out completely, great stuff both old and new from the likes of Poolside, Classixx, Drop Out Orchestra or Runaway. Nothing for a wild party but perfect for late night hours.

Long mixing (Serato / 2 TTL’s), quite some loops and a few Mixer effects but no editing afterwards whatsoever. Tracklist after the jump, hope you all enjoy.

2011 and we are waiting for a mixtape to drop – to be exact, counting down minutes and refreshing browsers. (Well one browser but who is counting?) Can’t tell you how excited we are to hear Skratch Bastid’s new work, fittingly titled “The Entertainer”. The party we had with Skratch Bastid back last year was probably the most memorable one in our three year tenor, as the Bastid is not only one of the coolest dudes on the planet but without a doubt one of the sickest DJs there is. This is why we confidently urge you to download this guy’s mixtape and spread it around like it was 1995. We on our end promise to have him back in Cologne as fast as possible!

The JBs Ya!On Wedneday the 8th of June one of the finest Hiphop groups of all time is making their way to Cologne’s CBE. The Jungle Brothers have always been some sort of secret favorites of mine when it comes to early nineties rap, and after hearing that Arrested Development packed the Gloria last week and had the good folks of Cologne raving, I can only assume the Jungle Brothers to follow up more than nicely. So if you are having a soft spot for the golden era of Hiphop in your heart this show will definitely be right up your alley. What makes it additionally enticing is that they will perform in their original formation, the way they started the group in 1988, with Mike Gee, Africa Baby Bam on the mics and DJ Sammy B on the turntables.

As we mentioned before already, DJ Day got things on lock. Over the next couple of days we’ll bring you a couple of edits he unleashed over the last years, those little nuggets have been staples in our sets for a long time and all come highly recommended.

Cologne stand up! It’s been a while since the devastating Tsunami in Japan and with our media moving on to other, more interesting news it’s easy to forget, but help is still needed. Our friends from Come Together teamed up with some of Cologne’s finest DJ’s to throw a benefiz night at Bahnhof Ehrenfeld next thursday and we expect all of you to show up and have a good time for a good cause. All benefits from the night will be immediately proceeded to Hiro Sato, a priest living, working and helping the people in the Akita prefecture in north Japan. Yes, das nächste Electronic Beats Festival steht vor der Tür. Am 19. Mai geht es im Kölner E-Werk mal wieder zur Sache – ich freu mich vor allem auf Holy Ghost! aus New York, die zwei Jungs aus dem DFA/ LCD Soundsystem Umfeld haben gerade ihren ersten Longplayer veröffentlicht und ihre Tracks laufen vor allem an unserem Mittwoch im Sixpack regelmässig rauf und runter. Man darf gespannt sein wieviel analoges Equipment die beiden so mitschlepppen, in diesem Video von 2009 lassen sie sich zu genau dem Thema aus… Wait & See.

Animal Collective hatten wir hier auch schon mehrfach, werden an dem Abend natürlich live spielen und wahrscheinlich genauso wie 2009 im Gloria überzeugen. Dazu kommen noch Modeselektor, Nouvelle Vague, Planningtorock und Ada, fertig ist die Sause.
