The 918th is given a very rough mission with a 1/3 projected death toll, however weather prevents take off. Tom Lockridge is on sick report for an illness. Only 1 mission stands between him and completing his tour of duty (25 missions). His fiance nurse, Libby wants him to stay on sick leave to avoid his probable death. Libby goes behind Tom's back to ask Gen. Savage to ground Tom. Savage tells her that if he grounds Tom she'll save his life, but she wont have the man she fell in love with...

A war correspondent is sure one of Gen. Savage's gunners (and a friend) is a escaped murderer. When the correspondent mysteriously dies in an accident, an unconvinced Savage decides to have the gunner's fingerprints processed. On a mission the General's B-17 is badly damaged and Savage injured, is left alone, blinded with the suspected gunner. Probably one of the best episodes of the series! A+!

A stowaway clerk finds out on a mission that he has a talent for much needed gunnery skills. However his conscientious objector status has him very rattled after shooting down a Nazi fighter yet Savage needs gunners desperately. He must convince the clerk his beliefs are too idealistic. Very powerful episode.

Episode 01.01 Golden Boy Had 9 Black Sheep

Teaser to the first episode Sept of 1964. Introduces Joe Gallagher who later takes over in Season 2. A great episode flavored from the original movie. This episode introduces Savage as a tough as nails Group Commander as seen in the movie. He has no patience for goof-offs or slackers. Since many themes were borrowed from the movie itself, this episode serves as a beginning to the entire saga. It does not pick up off where the movie ended, a scene where Savage has a breakdown and is frozen in his chair until his group returns home.

This episode doesn't cover the relieving of Keith Davenport as the commander of the 918th, nor does it explain why a General is in charge of a group when a Colonel is quite capable for the command. The beloved Harvey Stoval returns played by Frank Overton.

Although broadcast first, this episode was actually filmed after 01.02 "Follow the Leader".

Anyway his episode is a great start to the series...

12 O'Clock High has been a favorite show of mine since the mid 60s when there were only 3 TV stations. Since that time I frantically searched my TV guide to see some kind of syndication of the TV series. It seems the series was destined to fade into obscurity.

It only appeared once in the early 70s on a local public TV channel. I often wondered why it appeared on a public TV channel and not on an ABC affiliate...?

It wasn't till the early 2000's it resurfaced unedited on the GoodLife Network digital cable. I guess it wasn't much of a surprise to discover the stories still held up!

Years later after seeing and hearing about horrible knock offs of the show, I decided to spend the money and 3 years and make it right. This site http://www.12oclockhighTV.com celebrates the great stories of the 8th AF and honors the men who gallantly gave their lives for freedom!
