Stone Brewing is now in Central Illinois

I had been hearing rumors for a while that Stone would be coming to Bloomington, IL and those rumors are true! Due to recent health problems I have been out of the beer loop for a couple months. So imagine my surprise when I walked into Friar Tuck on Saturday and I see Arrogant Bastard sitting on the shelves! No more mail orders! No more 2 hour trips to Chicago area to pick up Stone! The only disappointment was they were of course sold out of the Oaked Arrogant Bastard, but I'll hopefully get it next time! Thank you Stone for bringing your arrogance to Central Illinois, we're definitely worthy!

Hey everyone. Thanks for visiting my site. I know its been a while since I posted, but I've been incredibly busy with my business as well as with my move. Now that the move is over with I can enjoy blogging again! I've tried so many great beers this winter that I will have to do a post on them soon. I'm excited to see a few breweries make their way to central Illinois (Bloomington, IL) such as Smuttynose Brewing Company(Robust Porter, try it!) and Magic Hat Brewing Company (have only seen #9) along with the great news that Firestone Walker will begin distribution in IL, AWESOME! I still have my list of others I would like to see come to Illinois, are you listening Deschutes Brewery? How about you Oskar Blues? We would love to see you two distribute here, that would be great! Also I have a couple small breweries in my new city, including Destihl Restaurant & Brew Works

Drink of the night: Samuel Adams Winter Porter

I'm watching the season opening 2010 NBA basketball game between the Miami Heat (the big 3) vs. the Boston Celtics while I'm sipping on some Samuel Adams Winter Porter. A good choice to start this chilly and windy night, it definitely warms you up. I'm loving this Samuel Adams Winter pack so far, some very good choices of drinks in it. The Samuel Adams holiday porter is very drinkable and should please most that like Porters as well as some that may be on the other side of the fence.

Anderson Valley Winter Solstice

Anderson Valley Winter Solstice once again exceeds my expectations. I tried Anderson Valley Summer Solstice for the first time this year and really enjoyed that (search for review) so I had to try this. Winter seasonal beers are my favorite seasonals available and this is very smooth and would have never thought it was at 6.9% ABV. I will definitely buy this again and in my opinion its a must try. Anderson Valley is one good brewing company and an even better seasonal brewery in my opinion

I voted for Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head. Dogfish Head not only makes great beer of course but recently with the announcement of the Discovery Channel show Brewed, I think will help bring the love of craft beer to an even larger audience. That in my opinion counts for a game changer.
