These vinyl wall graphics for Keller Williams Realty have that “WOW” factor!

But getting ready for that enhancement involves some preparation to ensure that what you are ordering and installing portrays what you want your customers to see in your brand – namely, attention to detail.

Here’s what you can do to get your walls ready before the 12-Point Team installs your décor.

Clean Those Walls!

It cannot be stressed enough how important it is to clean your walls properly. We suggest following 3M’s Enhanced Adhesion Cleaning Method and thoroughly wiping down walls with isopropyl alcohol, removing much of the adhesion-fighting chemical compounds from the paint’s surface. This cleaning method can improve the adhesion of your vinyl graphic display – especially if you are unsure about the type of paint on your walls. (See below for more information about that!)

Thanks to proper wall prep, these vinyl graphics for the Church of the City will last a long time.

Damage Control

While it isn’t uncommon to have furniture scuffs, water damage, cracks, or a random hole, vinyl graphics cannot hide all physical flaws. These high-performance vinyl products are relatively thin; therefore, the marks can be seen through the vinyl even after the graphics are applied. For this reason, we always suggest clients prepare their walls with a Level 5 finish – the highest level of drywall finish regarding smoothness and lack of flaws to help give your vinyl graphics the desired “WOW” it deserves.

Primer & Paint 

After applying the primer and paint, it is recommended to allow the paint to cure before applying the adhesive-backed vinyl graphics. At least two weeks of cure time achieves better quality adhesion results. Be sure to avoid the newer paint formulas advertised as “less stinky” (or low to zero VOC) and more scrubbable for ease of cleanability. These chemical compounds can reject adhesives over time, resulting in your custom graphics potentially peeling away from the wall surface. The separation of the vinyl from the walls can even happen overnight. An adhesion test can take 15-30 minutes and provide valuable information about how the vinyl will adhere to the wall. We highly recommend this – especially if you are unsure what type of paint was used!

A Tip for Mural Installations

If installing a mural for your facility, print the mural in vertical panels with extra bleed material around the edges. However, when you hire 12-Point SignWorks to install your mural, you’ll receive extra experience and effort to achieve good results.

As with many situations in life, the correct answer is “it depends.”  Read on if you’re looking for car and vehicle wraps in the Nashville, TN area!

There is a big difference in designing and installing a wrap for a golf cart as compared with a custom trailer wrap, but the basic building blocks of a quote are the same.

We completed this Tiny Tea Trailer Wrap for our repeat customer, Franklin’s Fruit Tea. It really ties in their brand with their fleet of trailer wraps and their brick-and-mortar location in Murfreesboro, TN.

We consider several things when figuring up the cost of a vehicle wrap.

• How large is the total area to be wrapped?
• What surface conditions will the wrap material be applied to? Are there rivets, screws, corrugations, seams, etc., that will require additional attention and labor?
• How complex is the geometry to be wrapped? (A flat surface is a much different application than the spoiler and bumper of a car.)
• How long is the wrap intended to stay on the vehicle?
• Are there windows involved that need to be covered with perforated window film to complete the graphic layout in the wrap design?
• What are the design requirements? Is the wrap primarily a solid color with some cut vinyl accents, or is there significant information or imagery that needs to be carefully planned and incorporated into the custom wrap design? Is the client bringing artwork to use in the wrap design, or are we starting “from scratch”?
• Does the client bring us donuts?

Because vehicle wrap design is such a critical part of the whole process, we start with design as a separate activity. We can finalize a particular wrap’s costs based on the final concept in the advertising wrap’s layout.

Sometimes a full wrap isn’t necessary to accomplish what you’re trying to do with vehicle advertising, and partial vehicle wraps can be a great option to consider. Partial wraps can still be highly effective from a visual and marketing perspective – we’ll help you work within your budget!

A Quick Word on Solid / Color Change Wraps

It’s also important to note that solid color wraps generally require more labor and attention to finishing details than full-color vehicle advertising wraps. For an advertising wrap, the vehicle’s original paint color often blends visually with full-color wrap graphics, such as door seams where the wrap doesn’t cover the paint.

However, this isn’t always the case for solid color wraps, where the vehicle’s original paint can stick out like a sore thumb if all the visible regions haven’t been entirely covered. As such, if you desire a color change wrap, your wrap specialist will generally remove quite a bit of body hardware to ensure that the solid color vinyl thoroughly covers all the nooks and crannies of the painted surfaces. It’s important to note that we don’t currently do color change wraps, but would be more than happy to discuss your vision to see if a full advertising wrap makes sense instead.

What is Experiential Design?

Experiential design (also known as environmental design) focuses on several areas of influence to build an environment (facility space) that will connect people’s emotions to your product/services so they can better understand who you are.

We collaborated with NewGround on this experiential design project for People’s FCU in Amarillo, TX. We love the colors and theme throughout the branding with the murals, dimensional letters, and privacy vinyl.

Bring Your Message Home for Your Customers

Even when the message isn’t uniquely yours, like this Easter message from the Church of the City (COTC) in Franklin, TN, say it boldly if you have something worth saying. COTC wanted to make a very hands-on display for Easter. Kids loved being able to touch the message by putting together a uniquely crafted puzzle for the church. And there was something for Mom and Dad, too, with a custom photo booth backdrop to forever encapsulate the family dressed in their finest. Of course, the consumer was brought in, to begin with, by the colorful custom banners COTC had on display. The display had something to make everyone happy!

We really enjoyed creating this custom Easter puzzle for Church of the City so they could share the message of Easter with the children of the church.

When we collaborate with NewGround, everything from the windows to the walls are considered for experiential design. The legacy walls we have created for school’s in the area are an architectural display in varying sizes of custom-cut acrylic.

Have you ever thought about how you’d like to be remembered? Where you’d like to leave your name when you’re gone? Or even a proud place to visit when you can? Perhaps you’ve already done something like this. You’ve left a legacy. You added your name to a brick that was incorporated into a new building to help it be built. Your name is on a plaque for donating to a special cause. You can’t deny the pride that comes along with your donation. Legacy Walls

Providing a legacy wall is the perfect way to thank those who have contributed in various ways to the creation of something related to a business, usually a part of the building. It’s a gift given back to the donor in the form of something physical that will live on forever.

A beautiful example of recognition of donors coming together to support a cause can be found at Thompson’s Station Middle School. Supporters contributed to covering the cost of materials not included in the school’s budget. They were thanked with a permanent display of their names on glass plaques covering their Thunder Legacy Wall.

Not all kids share the same financial privileges. In those cases, financial donors are crucial to ensuring a positive school experience for all children. As thanks, the Thompson’s Station Middle School showed their appreciation with a permanent display of their names on glass plaques.

School Donor Walls

A School Donor Legacy Wall deserves a special explanation as it has many more specific uses than just recognizing those who have donated money. Consider a wall for:

If your brand, product, or company has been around for a while, that’s an accomplishment to brag about. History Walls

Not all history needs to be displayed as a timeline. For example, look at the Silicon Ranch right here in Nashville, TN. We incorporated their prominent historical events into an attractive wall setting. Whether your display takes up a corner of your office space, a large prominent wall, or even a well-used hallway, you can use the space you have to exhibit the chronology of your business.

If you want to be caught thinking out of the box, create a history wall that is more like a non-linear timeline, like the one you can find at the Rosedale Federal Savings and Loan Association Towson Branch. Such a choice can highlight relational values with its design.

We used dimensional features on this timeline for the Towson Branch of the Rosedale Federal Savings and Loan Association.

Hygiene Decals

With everything in the world so focused on our health over the past few years, behaviors such as proper handwashing have come to the forefront of many concerned citizens’ minds. Showing your business to be a community that cares about the health of its employees and customers goes a long way in building strong relationships. Be a company that cares—post signs or decals detailing the steps to proper handwashing in the bathroom.

Hygiene decals help remind guests and employees to keep their hands washed while maintaining your brand’s aesthetic.

Vinyl Graphics

With the help of custom vinyl graphics, you can have a little fun with the idea of genders based on your brand. Wayfinding Signage

You may know how to find the facilities in your workspace, but visitors may have a more difficult time navigating their surroundings. They might get lost and be too embarrassed to ask for directions, or worse – they might get lost and walk out the door! Don’t lose your visitors due to poor information – provide visible wayfinding signage directing them to the nearest bathroom.

Wayfinding signage is extremely helpful for new visitors. This is especially if your location covers a lot of ground.

Floor Decals

You can post a sign on the bathroom door. You can use directional signs at the hallway intersections and corners. There could even be a two-sided sign above the actual bathroom door, but there still could be somebody who doesn’t notice any of them. However, we often notice things out of place on the floor. If that’s the case, don’t let your signage placement keep somebody from finding the way to the bathroom. Use floor decals to help guide your guests.

Not everyone notices wayfinding signage, but most people see things on the ground. Custom floor decals get noticed when other signage can’t.

Hollywood

The (arguably) most famous sign in the world sits on a lonely hill, just above the city it represents. The famous HOLLYWOOD sign doesn’t just represent the area’s name (the “LAND” at the end of the original sign was removed after about twenty years); it’s a symbol to aspiring actors that they have made it. Other visitors see it and know they are about to encounter some of the most glamourous surroundings they’ve ever seen.

You don’t even have to see it from the front (or all of it, for that matter) to know which iconic sign this is.

Las Vegas

You haven’t really made it to Vegas unless you’ve seen it. That famous “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada” sign speaks of everything that Sin City and the 60s have always stood for – bright lights, colors, and excitement. Not located on the main strip, tourists will still go out of their way just to see the sign.

This famous sign has been the backdrop of many a family picture and has made cameo appearances in several blockbuster movies over the years as well.

Radio City Music Hall

The pink neon vertical lights spelling out the name of the famous New York venue may not have begun with the intention of becoming world-renowned. Still, as years go by, it’s hard not to look at the seven-story high signs and realize you are in the presence of something historic.

Basking in the iconic lights of the Radio City Music Hall has been the dream of millions, achieved by so few.

London Underground

Traveling across the Pond, you’ll come to England and most likely make your way to London if that wasn’t where you landed at first. Need to make your way around the British capital? You will probably be heading for the subway – evident by the iconic red circle with the blue horizontal line through it, marked with the white block text, Underground. Foreign travelers will always know where to go if they see that sign.

The instantly recognizable blue and red of the London Underground logo is a perfect example of international iconic signage.

Make Sure You Only Place Them in Spots Where They Are Legal

Many cities and communities have restrictions on the types, number, or specific placement of temporary signs, so be sure you know the laws in your area before hanging, posting, displaying, or sticking one in the ground. Interfering with sidewalk traffic with a misplaced A-frame sign or leaving a sign out for too long could result in a notice from the city that you want to avoid! Following local guidelines will keep you in good standing while also getting your message out.

Make Sure It Stands Out

Because of the smaller size of a portable outdoor sign, you don’t have a lot of room to share your message. If you put more than your brand name and/or logo, contact info, possibly a slogan, or a business special, your design will be too small to read quickly. So make those few words count! Get creative with your design while also considering the size of your advertising space. A yard sign needs to get right to the point, while an A-frame provides more space to be creative.
