Our twelfth and final tune of the 12 Songs of Christmas comes from south London’s nerd rockers The Little Philistines.

This little gem, “Talking Japanese” is a Recharged Radio exclusive and you’re not going to get it anywhere else – hence us releasing it last.  However, they are releasing a new single called Hot Phone, on 7th Feb on iTunes and Spotify. The album launch is Friday 4th Feb at Good Ship in Kilburn (that’s in NW London), with Bordeauxxx, Cop On The Edge, Keith John Adams, Ben Folke Thomas and special DJ guests including Alex Watson – our Head of Music here at Recharged.

Our eleventh and nearly final tune of the 12 Songs of Christmas comes to us from JW Show superfans of Texas, Titty Bingo.

The band whose name you can’t say on radio, Titty Bingo – Dahr Jamail, Freddy Fletcher, Larry Fulcher, Derek O’Brien, Bobbie Nelson, and Willie Nelson (when he feels like it) are rooted in the roadhouse of outlaw country, classic hard rock, and Texas electric blues.

Formed 20+ years ago, Titty Bingo has performed at Farm Aid, Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnics, the House of Blues, and various honky tonks, bars, and dives.

Our magic number 10 song comes from 50ft Woman!

Inspired by the eponymous B-movie, 50ft Woman is rockpunkpop band from London.  Energetic spunky songs with quirky lyrics and catchy choruses make for an eclectic but energetic mix.

Described as ‘Blondie’s forgotten love child‘ and a personification of ‘Into the Valley of the Ultra Vixens‘, the catchy choruses, quirky lyrics and crunchy guitars make for a heady mix.

50ft Woman’s debut EP, “Menage a Trois” is out now and you can grab the rest of it off their blog.

Off the debut album “Lock” from At Freddy’s House comes our ninth song of the 12 Songs of Christmas.

A great friend of Rodrigo de Sa (Recharged Radio’s I Land Music Show presenter) we got this song happily passed along and in turn happily pass it along to you.  Here’s the video of the tune as well!

Happy New Year!  We’ve got four more songs for you, and the next one comes from our Canadian friend and Western Australian producer, Terri Marie (and Peter Renzullo, he’s her producer.)

She’s even gone ahead and written a bio for the tune, here are her words:

“I suppose it’s the first song I wrote that i was really excited about. I got some good reactions from some fellow artists and friends and it really encouraged me as a writer and musician. I wrote mostly out of frustration and certain dissatisfaction, and it’s one of those songs that always makes me feel good when I play it. It was written after a not so nice break-up, and though it didn’t start out quite as bluesy as it is, that’s where i found it going, as my musical influences changed, as they always are.”

Our seventh tune of our 12 Songs of Christmas comes from Portugal – they’re called Noiserv.

Noiserv is a project that appeared in 2005 when David Santos decided to bring together many years of material and turned it into something real and serious.  In July of 2005,  Noiserv was invited to join the Portuguese netlabel Merzbau and edit his first EP, “56010-92”.  After that, David had played in Portugal’s most important alternative scene venues and had quickly become well-known in Portuguese media and audiences. Finally on October 13, 2008, the singer-songwriter self-released his debut full-length record “One Hundred Miles from Thoughtlessness”, considered one of the best 2008 Portuguese records. In November, the record was distributed in Tokyo (Japan) with Preco records, in Manchester (UK) with Piccadilly records and also in several more European record stores.

On April 2009 was released the first Noiserv single 7” through Autumn Ferment Records, U.K., with one song of “One Hundred Miles from Thoughtlessness” – “Bullets on Parade”.  During the last year Noiserv had played with several well-known international artists such as Perry Blake, Camara Obscura, Bill Callahan, I Like Trains, Tara Jane O’neil, Yndi Halda, Your Ten Mofo, Julianna Barwick, Don’t Mess with Texas, Half Sleep, The Swell, Damon & Naomi, etc…

In the beginning of July this year, Noiserv released a new EP called “A Day in the Day of the Days”… a soundtrack for a day in our life… that’s where this tune comes from.

Our sixth song of the twelve comes to us from south of the river in south London by Englefields, one of Robert Batley‘s pet side projects.

Three writers from Bexley got together to write an upbeat Christmas song at their friends’ request.  The vocals were recorded during the annual Englefields Christmas party last year under the influence of a heady mix of booze and christmas spirit!

Our 5th song (FIVE GOLDEN RINGS!!) comes from the Minneapolis powerhouse Lights Out Dancing.

Created in May of 2007, Lights Out Dancing is a Pop Rock n’ Power Roll group out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The newly formed band knew they were ready to make their music their life.  In August of 2007 the band independently released their first record; a five song EP entitled “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”. The album was recorded with help of producer Jordan Schmidt and mastered at Sterling Sound in New York.  After heavy independent touring, and promotion such as following the Vans Warped Tour, the record became a great success, selling over 17,000 copies.

In August 2009 the band teamed up with producer Rob Freeman to create their second album.  With high expectations for the second EP, the band set to work, harder than ever, to make Ever the Optimist an even greater success.  Following the release of the new record Lights Out Dancing received features from purevolume.com and both Alternative Press and Substream Magazines.  The band was also chosen in the top 20 unsigned bands of 2009 by Myspace.com and in the top 10 by purevolume.com.

In the early 2010  Lights Out Dancing gained the experience and talent of vocalist Jordan Wark from San Diego, California.  Now, more than ever, the band is striving to reach a new level of both writing and performing.

Noted for a highly energetic and entertaining live show, Lights Out Dancing is making a name for themselves around the country with their heavy touring schedule. They are a lighthearted band always looking for a good time that can still take their art seriously. As a result they are constantly finding new ways to keep their music and band fresh and inspiring.  Guitarist Mike Haase sums it up by saying “We are best friends who love what we do and always do our best at it.  It’s like we always say ‘We take having fun way too seriously.’

Our fourth “Song of Christmas” comes to us from The Scratch, a Recharged Radio favourite.

“Erotomanaic” by The Scratch was the very first track the band ever worked on back in 2002. Originally a pure electronic track this version was first recorded for the bands debut album DIY in 2003. 2010 saw it remastered and re-issued as part of a brand new DIY available for the first time on digital format.

Our third Song of Christmas comes from The Doups.

The Doups are a Portuguese indie/rock band formed in 2007 in Setúbal, Portugal. The band consists of João Rodrigues (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Nuno Cunha (lead guitar and back vocals), Gustavo Andrade (bass guitar) and André Rosa (drums and percussion).

After concentrating on writing good tracks as well as fine tuning their live show, 2009 became a busy year for the band.  The year saw The Doups win best regional garage band quickly followed by an invitation to record a mini album in Southern Studios in London with Producer Harvey Birrell (Dananananaykroyd, Johnny Foreigner, The Buzzcocks).  While tracks were still being mixed The Doups entered into the Supajam “Fast track to Heineken FIB” Competition with over 900 other bands across Europe and over 1600 tracks. Seen only as a way to get heard, The Doups were surprised to first get into the Top 40.  The band was announced as TOP 5 finalists and flown to London to play a show with 4 other bands in front of a packed house at the Pigalle Club and 7 music industry Judges, finishing as “runners up”.

Shortly after the concert in London, The Doups embarked on a promotional FNAC tour of Portugal and were asked to play the Rockone Festival supporting the Offspring. “Try, Lie, Die, Whatever” the track which secured them Top 5 in the Supajam Competition was released on itunes by Supajam followed by their debut EP “Six O..clock Shadow” containing a different version of “Try, Lie, Die, Whatever”.  This received both national and international radioplay and The Doups ended their year supporting Franz Ferdinand at Campo Pequeno in Lisbon. Surprisingly, The Doups remain an unsigned band.

2010 saw The Doups’ 2nd single and videoclip: “Now I’m Going”, being released as a gift to the fans (free download).

2011 looks good already, The Doups will do an European Tour and a late 2011 debut album release.

Unquiet Nights brings us our second track for the Twelve Songs of Christmas from Burning the Tracks, an album yet unreleased.  That’s right, EXCLUSIVE (and Luke loves it when we say that.)

“We Were the Ones ” is on Under The Radar’s Best of 2010 sampler, and that we are playing The Scala, London with Bloc Party on 12th March 2011.  Anyone who wants their ticket should buy it directly from us for cheaper and gets a secret download link and a free digital copy of the album when it’s ready.

Merry Christmas!  Our first song for The 12 Songs of Christmas is from a band that we’ve been following for quite a while now, Projekt.

With a knack for anthemic indie rock and roll, Projekt are a hard-working four-piece who have been gigging hard for the last 2 years. Putting in near to 100 performances at a wide variety of venues, from their first gig at Camden’s intimate Tommy Flynn’s to the vast expanse of the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, they’ve also demonstrated their versatility by putting in a number of acoustic shows.

With a diverse mix of influences, from Elvis and Des O’Connor to Kasabian and Them Crooked Vultures, from mushy peas and Ruddles to Bombay mix and gin, their songs combine a strong melody, pulsing beats, dirty bass and soaring layers of guitar.

After a number of EP releases during 2009 (Ocean Passage) and 2010 (The Compass & Monsoon Love), 2011 looks to be a big year for Projekt as they get their debut album ready, a batch of killer tunes.

Here is an acoustic track from their performance on Recharged Radio’s Friday Forum in November.  Entitled ‘ Goodnight, Goodbye, So Long!’, the song is due for release on their upcoming album as a full-on electric crescendo.
