Thursday May 17th
Jeff Benedict, Sports Illustrated: (article on LDS High School basketball phenom Jabari Parker)

Benedict:"Everyone I spoke with about Parker talked about his character first" and his basketball talents second. @1320KFAN

"There are not a lot of Mormons in Chicago, there are not a lot of African-American Mormons anywhere, and [Parker accepts] those roles."

Parker's father's laundry was lost while in Salt Lake City playing the Jazz, and he met his mother Lola while shopping for clothes. Lola is LDS, Jabari's father Sonny is not. But Sonny is very supporting of his family's dedication to the LDS faith, says Benedict. (Sonny Parker played in the NBA for Golden State, from 1976-1982)

Benedict: "I try not to get into that [aspect of things]. Jabari is considering a collection of schools, and BYU "is on that list. "But he's...."been contacted by every top school you can think of. But I never once asked him if he was seriously considering BYU."

Benedict Benedict continues: The family asked to not be pressed on the matter of which school Parker will choose, "so I respected those wishes."

Coach Chiesa says an NBA management/coaching will know if they made a roster mistake within 1 1/2 seasons. "By the 2nd All Star break."
