So I thought of spending an evening with friends and acquaintances before we all leave,” Sundeep told us.

The guests too enjoyed the party to the hilt. “I am going to Denmark for my holiday. It was so nice to catch up with the luminaries of the city before heading for my summer vacation,” said Birgit Holm, a hotelier. The party was followed by a scrumptious dinner with Lebanese, continental, the Italian and Indian cuisine of the menu. The guests were spotted enjoying the lovely skyline of the City of Joy from the presidential suite of the hotel.

The management of Kolkata's GD Birla school has suspended one of the accused in connection with a four-year-old girl's alleged sexual assault by two teachers of the institution inside the school premises, reported ANI.

The West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR) has also sought the arrest of the principal of the GD Birla Centre for Education.

Principal Sharmila Nath could have dealt with the matter in a sensible manner, WBCPCR Chairperson Ananya Chatterjee Chakraborti told PTI.

"On the contrary, she (Nath) denied the incident first. Under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, she is also an offender. The arrest of the principal is much needed. I have spoken to the Kolkata Police commissioner and told him that she must be arrested," she said.
Chakraborti also asserted that the commission would initiate legal action against the school management for shutting down the institution for an indefinite period.

"They (the school management) cannot jeopardise the future of the 7,000 students studying there. We will definitely take legal action against the management of the school for this," said Chakraborti, who, along with other WBCPCR members, paid a visit to the GD Birla Centre for Education in south Kolkata this morning.

The WBCPCR has also sought the medical report of the child victim from the police.
Two physical training teachers of the school were arrested last week for their alleged role in sexually abusing the nursery student during the school hours.

Equestrian sports and horse racing has been an integral part of Kolkata’s culture for centuries. During the winter races are held in Race Course located at the southern end of Kolkata Maidan.

The races shifted to Kolkata in 1812 roughly as the same location as today. Calcutta Turf Club (CTC) also known as the Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) was officially formed in 1847 to govern the rules and regulations concerning racing and protecting the interests of the turf in Calcutta.

The Indian Navy has always taken great pride in associating with the equestrian sports throughout the country and has actively patronized these events.

The Navy’s association with RCTC goes back to more than four decades when the formal institutionalization of dedicated races became the norm. The Navy has been endorsing two prestigious races at RCTC, Kolkata namely the Navy Cup and the INS Hooghly Cup.

The INS Hooghly Cup is named after the Indian Navy establishment which was commissioned in Calcutta in February 1954 as INS Hooghly, now known as INS Netaji Subash.

The INS Hooghly Cup was instituted in 1994 on the 40th anniversary of the Naval establishment at Kolkata.

Although the Navy Cup and INS Hooghly Cup are new compared to the long history of horse racing in Kolkata they do attract a large number of eminent Kolkatan's. The Navy and INS Hoogly Cup boost the Indian Navy’s efforts to popularize the sport.

A real estate player hopes that during her second tenure, Mamata Banerjee would be able to keep a check on the so-called syndicates, promoting fair competition in the industry.

Some of the industry captains were seen sitting together and watching the "dress rehearsal" of the 2016 Bengal election results at a city five-star hotel and analyzing the poll prediction.

Sudarshan Kumar Birla, chairman emeritus of Birla Group, was upbeat about the fact that the tradition of the stable Government in Bengal would continue. "Some people were apprehensive that whoever comes to power, it won't be a stable government. But looking at the exit poll results, it seems Mamata Banerjee will get an adequate majority to be able to push through appropriate schemes for the development of the state," he added.

Keventer Group chairman M K Jaan also asserted that only a stable government would help out Bengal. "I am happy. It seems that there will be a continuity in the government. With the kind of majority predicted. Mamata Banerjee will do well," he added.

Hemant Kanoria, Chairman of the LSE-Listed Srei Infrastructure, also agreed with Jalan and Biria. "Any government with stability is good for the state. During the Left Front regime, there used to be a stable government and the last one headed by Mamata Banerjee, too, was stable. We are fortunate that for the past 39 years, we never had a hung assembly and it seems that the tradition will continue." he added.

"The exit poll verdict, based on historical data and current analysis, tends to generate a lot of excitement but the ultimate truth is that the results are locked away. Mumbai, Dec 11 : Reliance Industries owned sports car that created a pile up on Peddar road was driven by Akash Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani. An eyewitness told a TV channel about it.

The mystery of the identity of the person who was driving the Aston Martin involved in an accident three days ago, remains unsolved. The Reliance Industries driver has admitted to the police that it was the driver but cops only will decide after getting scenic evidence. Zee 24 Taas claims Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash Ambani was at the wheels in the car when the accident took place. The eye witness alleged that Akash was “fully drunk” when the mishap took place. Reliance Industries rejected the allegations.

Gamdevi police, who are probing the matter, also claimed that the black Aston Martin was driven by a chauffeur. On Monday night, one day later, a chauffeur employed by Reliance came to Gamdevi police, claiming he was driving the Aston Martin when the accident happened. Police after the new allegation said that they will check the statements given by driver Bansi Joshi from his mobile call records and its location before booking him.

The eyewitness, however, says the police is hushing up the matter. The car mishap took place in the early hours of Sunday when the luxury car (MH01-BK-99) was driven at a high speed on Peddar Road. The Aston Martin went out of control and slammed into an Audi. A wheel of the Aston Martin came out and it then hit another car. The driver of the car was seen fleeing.

Peddar Road had two road accidents in a fortnight. Two municipal corporation workers were knocked down by biz man Akshay Bajaj who was driving a speeding car. He was arrested and released on bail. The dependents are devastated as no passer-by stopped to help the victims. The victims’ families feel that the rich go scot-free. The road which has the rich as residents is becoming the most unsafe in a city which has 600 accidents a year.

If your in-line wheels seize up or spin slowly and vibrate, they might need new bearings. Rust around the outside of the wheels and/or the sound of dirt grinding inside are also signs that it is time for a change.

Instructions :

1. Use an Allen wrench to remove the axle from the front wheel.

2. Pull out the front wheel.

3. Remove the old bearings from either side of the wheel. They should pop right off if you use a bolt or something similar.

4. Place new bearings on either side of the wheel. If necessary, use a flat surface for extra leverage.

5. Place the wheel in the wheel frame.

6. Use the Allen wrench to replace the axle. If your spacer is aluminum, tighten the axle bolts as far as they will go. If your spacer is plastic, tighten the bolts as far as they will go, then loosen them slightly.

7. Spin the wheel to see how easily it rolls. If it doesn't spin freely, loosen the axle. If it wobbles, tighten the axle.

I'm going to show a way to clean your skateboard bearings - it's a bit complicated and a long way but it is far better for your bearings than a simple way ( Also, it will cost you little ) .

You should clean your skateboard bearings if your bearings have slowed down, seem kinda mucky, or if they make a gravely, junky sound when you spin your wheels. To avoid getting to that point, you should really clean your bearings fairly often, even when they are only a little dirty, or just haven't been cleaned in a long time. Cleaning your skateboard bearings like this from time to time will increase your bearing's lifespan, and improve your skateboarding experience.

First, you'll want to remove your skateboard bearings. You can clean your bearings without removing them, but you won't get them very clean that way. To clean your skateboard bearings well they need to have been removed from your skateboard wheels. Not sure how to do that? Best Method To Clean Your Bearings

The best method to clean your skateboard bearings, is to give some love to your bearings. What you will need is Kerosene or Mineral Spirits, 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and some good quality skateboard bearing lubricants .

The first step is to wash your bearings with the Kerosene or Mineral Spirits. Your bearings likely have a rubber shield that you will need to pop out with a small pin - but be careful not to force anything, or damage the bearings. For the wash, you want to soak your bearings in the Kerosene or Mineral Spirits. Gently swish the solution around to get some movement inside the jar or can that you are using to soak the skateboard bearings.

Then remove the bearings, and rinse them off with the 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. If you used a skateboard bearing cleaner, then you don't need to rinse with the alcohol (unless the instructions on the cleaner say to - read the instructions!).

After rinsing them off, dry your skateboard bearings quickly! A can of compressed air is perfect for this.

Now, lubricate your bearings! The lubricant you bought should have instructions for how much to use, but just a little should be fine.

Some skaters say it's best to ride your skateboard bearings without lubricant, in order to go faster. This is a terrible idea. The lubricant helps keep the bearings spinning freely, and helps to keep there from being any freezing up, not to mention lessening wear and tear and friction. Without lubricant, one of your bearings might just stop spinning ... which means that you would eat pavement. Use lubricant in your skateboard bearings.

Replace the shields you removed.

You're done! Now, put those bearings back in your wheels - and enjoy your slick, clean ride!

Replacing your skateboard bearings, installing new skateboard bearings, and putting your cleaned skateboard bearings back on can be quick and easy, once you know the tricks. Read though these simple step by step instructions to find out how.

How To Replace Skateboard Bearings - Installing

First, simply place the new or cleaned bearing into the wheel. Most skateboard bearings have one side with a colored shield. I recommend placing this side facing out. However, you don't need to do it this way.

Either way, the bearing won't fit all the way into the wheel - the fit will be too tight. So first, simply set the bearing into the wheel.

Next, press the bearing down into the hole, applying pressure on the outside metal rim of the bearing. DO NOT press on the shield, or the center of the bearing. You should be able to press the bearing down to where it is flat with the edge of the wheel.

Repeat this process with all 8 bearings, putting one on each side of each wheel. I recommend having the shielded side of the bearing facing out on each. If you are using Spacers, make sure to put one in each wheel, between the bearings. If you are worrying about the bearing size then here is the online bearing catalog for you.

Just like the optional spacers, some skateboarders like to use bearing washers to help reduce friction and let your wheels spin faster. If you don't use washers, then skip ahead to step 3.

The washers are very small metal rings that fit on either side of your bearings. Put one on your axle trucks before you put the wheel on, and then one on after the wheel has been slid into place.

With all the bearings set into the wheels, put your wheels on your trucks. It doesn't matter if you have the graphic side of your wheels facing out or not - that's up to you.

Next, fit a nylon inserted ½" lock nut on the end of your trucks. These nuts usually come with your trucks, but if not, head to a hardware store and get a set of 4. Each wheel should be set up as seen in the photo. Don't worry about tightening each nut right yet.

Using your skate tool or a socket wrench, tighten each nut down slowly. This will push the bearings down into the wheels. Don't crank on the nuts too hard - you want the nuts to fit on snuggly, and to be done turning. That's it.

Now here's the secret. Once the nut has been tightened up, and the bearings are all sunk into place, you want to loosen the nut a little. Loosen it, and then jiggle the wheel a little, back and forth on the trucks. You want a small amount of play, just enough so you can feel it. When you pull the wheel from side to side, you want it to make a little clack sound, just a little. This will help your wheels to spin faster and more freely.

SCIENTISTS have come up with a new gadget that lets the iPhone detect CANCER.

Good call ... mobile phone gadget Handyscope can detect skin cancer

The Handyscope, which launches today, plugs into the Apple phone and converts it into a dermatoscope, which doctors use to find skin cancer.

It uses a polarising light to detect whether a mole is abnormal, before taking a picture of it and sending it off to a doctor to check.

Target ... device spots skin cancer

The image can then even be posted off to a second opinion service where world-renowned specialists can weigh in with their view.

Now experts have come out to say it could be very helpful in battling the disease.

Dr David Pye, a researcher based at Salford University, said:

"This is a powerful piece of kit which could be very useful for people in the profession assessing whether a mole is cancerous.

"Sending images around the world for expert diagnosis could be incredibly helpful and this is the first time I've ever seen anything like this before.

"During a mole examination you're looking for things like irregular edges and unusual colouration, which the device would be very good at picking up.

"However, I don't think it will be Joe Bloggs performing examinations at home - this is likely to be for doctors who could do with a second opinion."

Handyscope is made by German-based firm FotoFinder and any data is encrypted and can be password protected to keep it confidential.

At £995 for the gadget and £6.99 for the app needed to use it, the technology is not cheap.

But the firm behind it said the device had the potential to save lives.

Marketing manager Valeska Heinrich said:

"The Handyscope combines the latest communication technology with a sophisticated tool for skin cancer screening, opening up a new era for cancer diagnosis.

1. Pit of Despair : Psychologist Harry Harlow induced clinical depression in monkeys by taking young macaques that had bonded with their mother, and placing them in complete isolation, in a darkened cage, for up to ten weeks. Within a few days they became psychotic, and most could not be treated.

2. Russians Re-Attaching Dog Heads : This infamous propaganda film from 1940 shows Soviet Dr Sergei S. Bryukhonenko removing the head of dogs, and keeping them alive on a heart-lung machine. While possibly a Soviet fake, it produced a major stir in the west.

3. A human brain - trapped in a mouse! : Researchers at the Salk Institute in La Jolla discovered how to grow human brain cells by injecting embryonic stem cells into fetal mice. This combines the twin horrors of stem cells and transgenic research to give us either supersmart squirmy mice babies, or people with rodent brains.

4. Stanford Prisoner Experiment : Philip Zimbardo's Stanford prisoner experiment took place in the 1970s. The psychiatrist took 24 undergraduates and assigned them roles as either prisoners or guards, in a mock prison on campus. After just a few days, 1/3 of the guards exhibited sadistic tendencies, two prisoners had to be removed early due to emotional trauma, and the whole experiment only lasted six of the planned 14 days. It showed just how easily normal individuals can become abusive, in situations where it is encouraged.

5. Implantable Identity Code : The first RFID implant in a human was in 1998, and since then it's been an easy option for people wanting to be a little bit cyborg. Now companies, prisons, and hospitals have FDA approval to implant them into individuals, in order to track where people are going. A Mexican attorney general got 18 of his staff members chipped to control who had access to documents. The prospect of a business forcing its employees to receive an implant of any type is creepy and totalitarian.

6. Stimocever : José Delgado, a Professor at Yale, invented the Stimocever, a radio implanted in the brain to control behavior. Most dramatically, he demonstrated its effectiveness by stopping a charging bull with the implant. Except this thing could control peoples actions. In one case, the implant caused erotic stimulation for a woman, who stopped looking after herself and lost some motor functions after using the stimulator. She even developed an ulcer on her finger from constantly adjusting the amplitude dial.

The Demon Core : During experiments with a sphere of plutonium nicknamed the "demon core" at Los Alamos laboratory, scientist Louis Slotin died when a screwdriver slipped and the sphere went supercritical. After the room grew hot and was suffused in a 'blue glow,' he saved the lives of seven other people, but died from severe radiation exposure.

8. Evolving Robots : Take a bunch of cute, round robots, give them a generation lifespan two minutes, and after a few hundred generations, they evolve to cooperate, find food, and avoid pitfalls. These robots can evolve communication and intelligence, to some degree. Incredibly short lived, with the ability to evolve greater intellect. Just wait till they break out of the lab.

9. Time Machine : Physicist Ronald Mallett's work is based on using a ring laser to create closed timelike curves, which may allow time travel. Possibly you would only be able to travel back in time to the point when the device was turned on. What could go wrong?

Large Hadron Collider : The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), located in an underground facility in Switzerland, is the world's largest particle accelerator, designed to ram protons or lead nuclei into each other at ludicrous speeds. The LHC has suffered a series of delays, and is meant to be back online in November 2009. Physicists admit there is an infinitesimal chance that it will generate a black hole that could destroy the Earth - or possibly another kind of anomaly that would eat the universe. Two scientists have even put forth the theory that the LHC is sabotaging itself from the future, to prevent us unearthing the elusive Higgs Boson particle; others have sued in the hope that they can shut down the LHC before it destroys the world.

Crazy Corner : Man Eating Up Light Bulbs !!

Zhang Yujian, a Chinese stuntman from Mudanjiang City, Heilonjiang Province, has eaten two light bulbs during his performance, on Monday. XInhua reports the glass-eating master has a record of three light bulbs eaten in just 120 seconds. Now, I’m not sure if he eats the entire thing, but he certainly made short work of the sharp glass, without any serious cuts.

I knew the Chinese had some pretty bizarre foods, at least for my taste, but Zhang Yujian is taking things a little too far. I wonder if he’d be interested in meeting Russia’s sand-eating woman, I bet they’d hit it off.
