Defenseman Marco Scandella signed a two-year contract with the Minnesota Wild on Monday.

The 23-year-old had one goal in six regular-season games with the Wild this season and added a goal and an assist in five playoff games. He led Wild defensemen in playoff scoring and was fourth in ice time per game at 18 minutes, 1 second.

Scandella, a second-round pick by the Wild in 2008, spent much of the season with Houston of the American Hockey League, finishing with two goals and 15 assists in 45 regular-season games.

Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding was named the 2013 Bill Masterton Memorial trophy winner on Friday.

The Masterton trophy, named after former North Star Bill Masterton, is given annually to the player that best personifies "perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey."

Despite being diagnosed last fall with multiple sclerosis, Harding fought through the effects of the disease and extended lapses in playing time to serve as the Wild's primary backup goalie.

Wild re-sign forward Stephane Veilleux to two-year, two-day contract

Stephane Veilleux skated in only two games for the Minnesota Wild this past season. That apparently was enough for the team to decide he's worth keeping around.

The Wild announced on Wednesday that Veilleux has signed a two-year, two-way contract.

The 31-year-old forward had three goals, five assists and 45 penalty minutes in 33 regular-season games this season for the Wild's AHL affiliate in Houston. He was recalled during the playoffs and skated in two games of the opening-round loss to Chicago.
