Sorry there hasn’t been a proper update in a while, I do like showing you guys what me and my mates get up to with our cars, i’ve just been busy with life guff :)

Anyway enough of the rambling we headed off to Japfest 2: The Evolution on Sunday, I took my 180sx because my JZX90 is *still* being a massive bag of *F*A*I*L. My bro took his stripped track racer s14 zenki, Morf took his monster ca18 s13 and another buddy brought his TT GTO.

^^ I couldn’t resist taking a shot of that SEXY A$$, even dirty SSRs win

^^ Aargh what’s this?! Morf’s sx decided to throw a strop and pissed out all it’s coolant. The smoke made it look like it was going up in flames (anybody seen that mk4 golf gti burn video? :hurl:) luckily there seemed to be no epic damage. Suspect is the blanking plug for the water turbo line as the TD06-20g runs sans water cooling.

This was probably the most attended breakdown i’ve ever been to, we were getting beeped by passing jap cars on their way to japfest :wack:

^^ Wow cursed day or what - my bro’s bucket seat subframe welds snap while we were hammering along a national limit. All we had to repair it was zip ties and plastic bags :wack: That’s a pretty serious contender for sxoc bodge award?

^^ We finally made it to the show without any more incidents, I really rate the Rockingham layout, getting around is so much easier and more logical then a track like Silverstone. The drifting action was pretty cool, it was just a demo but the drivers were giving it the beans  I saw very few S13’s which was a shame, a couple in the drifting arena but none on display..

Drifted.com is a project myself and a couple of guys have been working on, it’s starting to do really well and seeing our stickers on all the BDC compo cars in the metal was pretty sweet :D

No pics but on the way home we had some superb convoy action, at one point unfortunately my drivers side wind deflector decided to go the way of my JZX90 and snapped off. Rubbish!

Sorry for the lack of updates folks. Been having a lot of trouble with the car.

I had the rocket bunny bumper fitted and painted a while back now and the car looked like this:

Was having suspension issue that I had checked and was informed that the shocks in my coilovers were seized….so took them out (and broke a Tein rod end in the process due to jammed bolts), sent them back to DW and it turns out that other than the front adjusters being seized they are fine.

Re-fitted them on Thursday and brought the car home.

And last night my mum reversed the scenic’s trailer hitch straight into the middle of the new bumper….just what I needed.

Am getting it looked at on monday to see if its fixable. Its cracked all the way through in the intercooler section and in the places you can see on the front.

Hopefully my next update will be a better one as I have a box of nice bits (nismo, Uras, Apex) and such to fit. Hopefully new brakes next month and rolling the rear arches.

Let’s see if I can still remember how to use this blog, its been a while.

The car needs to be lowered but my recent addition exhaust isn’t sitting the way it should and i’m blaming the flange on the decat as it’s sitting too low and it’s no where near the bumper anymore, but on a plus note I have new tyres to replace my bald and cracked front ones :o

As of today my drivers side drive shaft broke for the 2nd time in a month so the longer driveshaft may be what its been missing, i’ll do a little how to seeing as i’ve had a bit of practice lol.

Anyway lets get to the pics.

As the sun has been with us this weekend we did a few more tweaks to the 180sx. After I was pulled twice in a row for having no plate I finally gave in and bought one, this has been sitting around waiting to be fitted so that was first on the list for the weekend. Morf drilled the bumper and we fitted a bracket he had lying around.

Next up was lowering the rear, as we took this to Newquay this year it was full of gear so we had raised it roughly 2cm to accomadate the extra weight. We jacked it up and wound the coils back down and now it’s sitting nice. Sorry about the pics they are pretty shite from my G1..

Next up is going to be some replacement door pillars so I can swap out my shitty fake carbon ones, after that i’ve got my eye on a cusco cage but they cost a fortune!

Dyno day..

So dyno day came up after a good while of ****ing around with ecu’s, i’ve been running some irritating lean issues and finally decided to go for a Nistune ECU.

I arranged a mapping session with Steve Sadler from FC Tuning, we met over in Kent at the Hayes Engineering dyno.

After some Z32 wiring issues we were good to go..

The car was running mega lean and the dyno guy actually didn’t even want to run it incase of a blown motor

Steve sorted out my map and netted me these figures:

We were fumbled by the HKS actuator not holding enough preload to maintain a highboost 1.3bar+ run without dropping down to actuator pressure so the headline figure isn’t great. Still the torque and drivability is superb, the car has never felt so responsive and smooth since i’ve had it.

I also got some new toys:

- Bee*R rev limiter (rocker arm eating fireworks provider)
- Import numberplate, to lose the hastily erected stock UK plate attrocity
- HKS super power flow intake

Hey peeps, bit of an update.

Some mates and I went off to our annual run to the sun newquay holiday in may, we took my bro’s S14, a mates GTO TT and my 180.

We had a shite trip down there because of traffic, 3 hours stuck on the M25 in a stripped & nurspec’d S13!!

Once we finally arrived it was pretty sweet, beaches, barbeques, fires and awesome driving roads all over one long weekend. Superb :)

We made out early the next day to try some cornish spec touge :)

Unfortunately we were assailed by boost pipes blowing off on the S14.

Morf get’s stuck in to the repair job.

S14 repaired we continued on our quest for touge awesomeness.

We had it out over some awesome roads, loads of elevation changes, vicious camber, sweeping bends and tight hairpins and conclusively found the GTO ****ing owned:eek: I was right on the edge of my cars grip limits and the fricken GTO just pulled away time and again. Pretty impressive stuff 4wd and fast spooling turbos  I definately have more respect for the big boats now.

I also found without the kouki spoiler my car really suffers from lack of downforce over about 60mph, I had no idea it would affect it that much

My bro’s S14 suffered from having tein springs on stock shocks, it really failed in the corners and from outside the car it looked like an overweight muscle car desperately trying to bounce itself off the road :smash: If anybody has some second hand S14 coilovers then drop me a PM as we really need to sort that out!

Finally, after the car throwing any problem it could at me. I managed to get my S13 on the dyno for a full session.

Massive thanks to Steve @ fctuning and Ali from Unit18
for helping getting the car in shape and of course mapping it!

I did have a mapping session with Steve a couple weeks ago, but during the run my wastegate got stuck open and had a pretty weak spring in it (around 6 psi) so that was the end of the night for me.

It was a bit hit and miss for yesterday as well, due to a manifold stud threading and being unable to tighten, so that had to come out and get sorted. I managed to get it back in with plenty of time thanks to Ali sorting the thread on short notice.

Met Steve at Motorworx’s in Marlow around six, got the car on the dyno and off we went!

The first run produced a somewhat high 2 bar boost due to the boost controller pipes being not in the right order, oops!

At one point we thought the car had done in a plug , but luckly it only had blown one of the intercooler pipes off (time to upgarde the clips!). With that fixed and new plugs in Steve got down to fine tuning the car.

Coming into the night I was anxious it wouldn’t make the power I was looking for, but the car surprised everyone!

The peak power of the night it made was 418bhp dead (356 @ wheels) however I’m not running forged rods, only pistons.

Because of this we decided it would be safer to tune it down slightly. It made several consitent 400+ runs so is very much capable of doing so.
My final figure for the night was a very satisfatory 388bhp at the fly (~330 at the wheels).

Less text, more graph

Peak power:

Spec list:

- Greddy TD06 20G and tubular manifold
- Wiseco pistons
- Trust headgasket
- 3″ exhaust
- Apexi induction
- Z32 AFM
- Front mount
- 720cc Injectors - through Steve had to keep taking fuel out! Suspects they are flowing more.
- Walbro uprated fuel pump
- Nistune ECU

Here is some blurb from the official site:

“Crail Airfield is a 350 acre site, situated in the East Neuk of Fife, ten minutes South of St Andrews, only an hour and a half from the Forth Road Bridge.”

“The north side of the airbase contains the barracks and mess areas, while the south is home to runways, associated buildings and events arena. Crail Airfield is renowned as one of the country’s best kept Second World War naval air base’s, which formally known as HMS Jackdaw then became HMS Bruce. With four main runways, the airfield contains two large hangars, an old cinema/gymnasium and many other class/barrack style buildings, some of which are presently in use for light industrial and agriculture production.”

“The events arena holds a diverse range of events that run throughout the year, including - Scotland’s Drag Strip (The Crail Thrash), Track days, Sprints, Rallys, Driver Training, Military Training, Sunday Markets/Car Boot Sales (every 2nd Sunday April to September), Film Sets/Location/Studio, Dog search training and pre-booked fly ins.”

“The majority of events take place at the weekends, but those wishing to visit the facility during the week can do so by prior arrangement.”

Hey peeps.

This is just a little update as it’s been a while

The car has been behaving really well, i’ve given it a lot of abuse and it is so far just laughing at me which is a sweet (and rare) time

The kouki wing is off to get painted properly, I also want to paint the skirts and potentially change to a different front bumper but I am undecided as yet. Engine mods are all waiting in the wings, i’m just waiting to secure a new job before I go ahead with the big turbo etc so that should be cool when it happens I’m running morf’s passenger seat rather then my bride as we are doing a long journey down to Newquay in a couple of weeks so it looks a bit odd

My bro has bought his first sx recently, we’ve gone to town on lightweighting and modifying (on a shoe string budget ) and it’s a mint car and has some real potential. By the time it’s finished it should be wide wheel, super low and sexy. The cars primary role is his drift learner so all the mods done reflect that.
