After seeing Joe’s 180 with the staggered wheels front and back, i though that looks pretty smart. Due to Failing the MOT on the front tyres and having an argument with my local tyre fitters because there prices have gone up £20 per tyre and they couldn’t offer me any better deals after using them for years.

Now my brother has some 17″ tyres in the garden which he wasn’t using, i thought what better excuse do i need to try the staggered look. So i purchased some 17″ Advan’s from a fellow SXOC member and put my brothers tyres on.

Upon seeing how they look (I think they look better in the arch in comparison to 18′), i am going to purchase a set of 17″ work emotions to match the back.

It’s been a while since i’ve come on to update the progress of my car but most of it was just accumulating parts so i could increase the power to my intended 350bhp, but due to an accident driving to work this will no longer be achieved on this car.

As i was just collecting parts the only updates were recent pictures that i got before the snow and salt landed on out roads.

So i shall share my pics before the accident and ill reveal what the car looks like after the accident :(

The car then attended a drift event which it didnt take part in (was suppose to take part this year but… oh well) so instead i drove around to take some pics of the car lol

Then it came to an end

I feel sick when looking at these pictures because it was my pride and joy and it was all coming together, but it could have been alot wost and luckily no one else was involved as i spun out on a straight road. i just hope that wheel is repairable!!

Now i just need to look forward to the next 180sx project in the future which should move along quicker than this one did because all the parts are still piling up.

Almost two weeks ago I took the car to my first ever pro drift event. It was a great test both for the car and my building skills as well for me as a driver.

Equipped with some fresh oil, a few spare tires I headed towards Lublin track course…

I was hoping the car will get to the track located 200kms from home on a trailer but unfortunately I didn’t manage to organise one so I had to drive the car all the way to the track. Packed with 8 spare wheels, some spanners and fuel I headed to Lublin.

After the night in a hotel on Saturday morning something was wrng with the car. It was sliding alle the time. When we arrived to the track it turned out that the welded diff snapped. I was very worried as I didn’t have a spare diff. Fortunately one of guy had another S13 diff so I got it from him. After a quick pit-stop I was able to continue thrashing the car around the circuit.

Apart from that little brakdown Nissan performed spotless and there were no more problems at all. I had a great opportunity to improve my skills and make sure I want to tak part in the full season of 2011 drift chamipnship over here in Poland.

The only fact that spoiled my weekend a bit is that the engine started to give a knocking noise and I am almost sure it is a spun shell. So it does mean I will have some work for the winter season.

The last time I wrote I was introducing my first S13. However since then a lot changed. Being a bit bored with the old car I wated to do something new and as I wanted to start learning drift it was a perfect moment to do it. The previous car was sold and about a year ago I started a new project. Of course it had to be another S13, but this time with a different engine and completely different approach. After a year of hard work (with 5 months break) there is the result.

At the starting point it didn’t look to promising. I got a bare shell to start with followed by eBay hunt for a suitable engine:

Enginewise I went for the SR20DET. It was the easiest engine to swap. It offers good power for reasonable money and there is plenty of aftermarket parts laying around.

Once the decision has been made I started to work. All the job is done in my garage with the help of my father and my friends.

It definitely isn’t the prettiest, well I’d even say it looks ugly, but that’s the point. The car should be perfect underneath and in the interior, but I don’t care about the rest. Maybe for the next year I will install a full bodykit which I already have and paint the car.

The spec is following:

General:

- Stripped S13 shell

- rear brace, ultra racing fender braces

Engine:

- SR20DET

- full 2,75″ stainless exhaust

- FMIC

- colder NGK spark plugs

- Bosch 040 fuel pump

- K&N cone filter

- Bailey Motorsport BOV

- circuitsports rocker arm stoppers

- lightweight aluminium pulleys

- large capacity oil sump

Electronics:

- Apexi PFC

- Blitz DSBC

-pivot fan controller, electric fan

-battery relocated behind the passenger seat

-omori boost gauge

Drivetrain:

- stronger clutch disc

-welded diff

Brakes:

- Z32 BMC

- 300ZX aluminium calipers front+rear

- stainless steel brake lines

-ABS removed

Suspension

-5 lug conversion

- K-sport Street coilovers

-Godspeed AntiRollBars

-adjustable tension rods

-adjustable rear camber arms

- a few sets of JDM alloys

Exterior:

- front Vertex bumper

- lightweight bonnet

- shitty paintjob :)

Interior:

- nardi Torino steering wheel

- NRG uick release boss

- Corbeau and EBS bucket seats

- OMP 4 point harnesses

Sorry there hasn’t been a proper update in a while, I do like showing you guys what me and my mates get up to with our cars, i’ve just been busy with life guff :)

Anyway enough of the rambling we headed off to Japfest 2: The Evolution on Sunday, I took my 180sx because my JZX90 is *still* being a massive bag of *F*A*I*L. My bro took his stripped track racer s14 zenki, Morf took his monster ca18 s13 and another buddy brought his TT GTO.

^^ I couldn’t resist taking a shot of that SEXY A$$, even dirty SSRs win

^^ Aargh what’s this?! Morf’s sx decided to throw a strop and pissed out all it’s coolant. The smoke made it look like it was going up in flames (anybody seen that mk4 golf gti burn video? :hurl:) luckily there seemed to be no epic damage. Suspect is the blanking plug for the water turbo line as the TD06-20g runs sans water cooling.

This was probably the most attended breakdown i’ve ever been to, we were getting beeped by passing jap cars on their way to japfest :wack:

^^ Wow cursed day or what - my bro’s bucket seat subframe welds snap while we were hammering along a national limit. All we had to repair it was zip ties and plastic bags :wack: That’s a pretty serious contender for sxoc bodge award?

^^ We finally made it to the show without any more incidents, I really rate the Rockingham layout, getting around is so much easier and more logical then a track like Silverstone. The drifting action was pretty cool, it was just a demo but the drivers were giving it the beans  I saw very few S13’s which was a shame, a couple in the drifting arena but none on display..

Drifted.com is a project myself and a couple of guys have been working on, it’s starting to do really well and seeing our stickers on all the BDC compo cars in the metal was pretty sweet :D

No pics but on the way home we had some superb convoy action, at one point unfortunately my drivers side wind deflector decided to go the way of my JZX90 and snapped off. Rubbish!

Sorry for the lack of updates folks. Been having a lot of trouble with the car.

I had the rocket bunny bumper fitted and painted a while back now and the car looked like this:

Was having suspension issue that I had checked and was informed that the shocks in my coilovers were seized….so took them out (and broke a Tein rod end in the process due to jammed bolts), sent them back to DW and it turns out that other than the front adjusters being seized they are fine.

Re-fitted them on Thursday and brought the car home.

And last night my mum reversed the scenic’s trailer hitch straight into the middle of the new bumper….just what I needed.

Am getting it looked at on monday to see if its fixable. Its cracked all the way through in the intercooler section and in the places you can see on the front.

Hopefully my next update will be a better one as I have a box of nice bits (nismo, Uras, Apex) and such to fit. Hopefully new brakes next month and rolling the rear arches.

Let’s see if I can still remember how to use this blog, its been a while.

The car needs to be lowered but my recent addition exhaust isn’t sitting the way it should and i’m blaming the flange on the decat as it’s sitting too low and it’s no where near the bumper anymore, but on a plus note I have new tyres to replace my bald and cracked front ones :o

As of today my drivers side drive shaft broke for the 2nd time in a month so the longer driveshaft may be what its been missing, i’ll do a little how to seeing as i’ve had a bit of practice lol.

Anyway lets get to the pics.

As the sun has been with us this weekend we did a few more tweaks to the 180sx. After I was pulled twice in a row for having no plate I finally gave in and bought one, this has been sitting around waiting to be fitted so that was first on the list for the weekend. Morf drilled the bumper and we fitted a bracket he had lying around.

Next up was lowering the rear, as we took this to Newquay this year it was full of gear so we had raised it roughly 2cm to accomadate the extra weight. We jacked it up and wound the coils back down and now it’s sitting nice. Sorry about the pics they are pretty shite from my G1..

Next up is going to be some replacement door pillars so I can swap out my shitty fake carbon ones, after that i’ve got my eye on a cusco cage but they cost a fortune!

Dyno day..

So dyno day came up after a good while of ****ing around with ecu’s, i’ve been running some irritating lean issues and finally decided to go for a Nistune ECU.

I arranged a mapping session with Steve Sadler from FC Tuning, we met over in Kent at the Hayes Engineering dyno.

After some Z32 wiring issues we were good to go..

The car was running mega lean and the dyno guy actually didn’t even want to run it incase of a blown motor

Steve sorted out my map and netted me these figures:

We were fumbled by the HKS actuator not holding enough preload to maintain a highboost 1.3bar+ run without dropping down to actuator pressure so the headline figure isn’t great. Still the torque and drivability is superb, the car has never felt so responsive and smooth since i’ve had it.

I also got some new toys:

- Bee*R rev limiter (rocker arm eating fireworks provider)
- Import numberplate, to lose the hastily erected stock UK plate attrocity
- HKS super power flow intake
