Seasonal Variations of Physico Chemical Properties and Quality Index of 
  Groundwater of Hand-Dug Wells Around Ajakanga Dump Site in Southwestern Nigeria<title><![CDATA[Seasonal Variations of Physico Chemical Properties and Quality Index of 
  Groundwater of Hand-Dug Wells Around Ajakanga Dump Site in Southwestern Nigeria]]></title> 
<description><![CDATA[Ajakanga landfill located within Ibadan metropolis, southwestern Nigeria was 
  opened in 1998 and still in operation till date. The leachate emanated from 
  decomposed solid wastes have adverse effects on nearby groundwater sources. 
  The aim of this study was to assess the groundwater quality using an indexing 
  approach from existing hand-dug wells bordering this active landfill site and 
  assess its suitability for drinking and domestic purposes during dry and wet 
  season. Ten water samples from different locations within the landfill were 
  identified for groundwater sampling. The samples were collected in March and 
  August, 2013 and analyzed for different physico-chemical parameters. The analyzed 
  physicochemical parameters such as pH, TDS, TH, HCO<SUB>3</SUB>&#175;, CO<SUB>3</SUB>&#175;, 
  Cl&#175;, NO<SUB>3</SUB>&#175;, SO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>2</SUP>&#175;, Na<SUP>+</SUP>, 
  K<SUP>+</SUP>, Ca<SUP>2+</SUP> and Mg<SUP>2+</SUP> fall within the standard 
  limits of WHO and NSDWQ. The values of GWQI of water samples during dry and 
  wet seasons were found in the range of 16.8-38.4 and 11.4-48.9, respectively. 
  About 50% of sampling waters belong to &#147;Excellent&#148; 
  water status and 50% under &#147;Good&#148; 
  class during dry season. During wet season, 70% of sampling points come under 
  &#147;Excellent&#148; water status 
  while 30% belongs to &#147;Good&#148; 
  water status. The GWQI value of each well for both seasons revealed their fitness 
  for drinking and human consumption purposes. Pearson&#146;s 
  correlation coefficients among selected water quality parameters show very strong 
  association between EC and TDS in both seasons.]]></description>

Validity of High Pressure Isothermal Equation of State for Carbon Nanotubes<title><![CDATA[Validity of High Pressure Isothermal Equation of State for Carbon Nanotubes]]></title> 
<description><![CDATA[To predict the most suitable EOS for the analysis of real compression behavior of carbon nanotube bundles, single carbon nanotubes and Graphite we have used Suzuki, Shanker, Tait and Murnaghan Equation of states. The analysis of computed results suggests that the Suzuki formulation is not capable of explaining the compression behavior of nanomaterials at higher pressure. Shanker formulation gives slightly better results of volume compression at different pressure than the Suzuki formulation but the results obtained by Tait&#146;s and Murnaghan EOS are in good agreement to the experimental data for nanotube bundle and individual carbon nanotubes in the entire range of pressure. Surprisingly it is observed that only Murnaghan formulation gives the better agreement with the experimental results for graphite than Tait&#146;s formulation. Thus it is concluded that, the well known and widely used Murnaghan EOS is still most suitable and valid for the bulk as well as nanomaterials. The present study also reveals the fact that individual carbon nanotubes are less compressible than bundles of carbon nanotubes.]]></description>

On the Drying Efficiency of Potato Chips Using Open Sun Drying and a Locally Fabricated Solar Dryer<title><![CDATA[On the Drying Efficiency of Potato Chips Using Open Sun Drying and a Locally Fabricated Solar Dryer]]></title> 
<description><![CDATA[In this study, the drying efficiency of potato chips processed using open sun drying and a solar dryer is reported. Equal quantities of potato chips were subjected to Open Sun Drying (OSD) and also dried using a solar dryer, constructed using locally available materials. The experiment lasted for 3 weeks and the drying efficiency of the chips from the two methods were computed. The results show that there is a significant improvement in the drying efficiency of the potato chips using the solar dryer compared to the OSD method. The average drying period for the solar dryer was two weeks while that of the open sun drying lasted longer. The drying rate of the potato chips and the system efficiency (solar dryer) were found to be 0.75 kg h<SUP>&#150;1</SUP> and 68.5%, indicating the potentials and effectiveness of the constructed solar dryer compared to the OSD method.]]></description>
