This week’s “theme” for lack of a better word wasn’t originally supposed to be this, but last Friday the twitters were spreading the name Rebecca Black around like useless gossip around a workplace (another topic for another day). I’ve been showing the video around to people because apparently those who aren’t narcissistic enough to tweet, haven’t heard of it. Pretty much I start LMFAOing (yes, how lame am I. It’s 2003, right?) when the chorus starts. Usually people give this weird look like, “What the… Why the… Huh? What the fu…?”, which is pretty much the only reason why I laugh. An idea came up about recording responses with a webcam or something, but two problems exist; it’s been done before and most everyone I have shown was on a smartphone. The song itself is mildly subpar, which was written by Ark Music Factory; and the video was a performance that her mom paid for (as many aspiring actors/actresses’ parents do, or is it many parents’ with aspirations of childrearing a star?). Said video was then up for a few weeks so that family and friends could view, then the memesters picked it up and rocked the Twitterverse with such a magnitude that the world has not seen since 3/11 (Too soon? Well, just like BP; I’m sorry). Yet Rebecca, despite having a backlash of haters posting “comment” things on Youtube and facespace, appears to be less fazed by it. And iTunes has sold over 2 million downloads of that one song, with Forbes calculating that she already has earned about $1mil just from having a song online for such a short time. While I agree with many that the song is annoying in general, I still commend her for having enough cohonas for keeping that video up there; after all the negative comments, the backlash and (I presume) mostly empty hopes that she dies. Some people wouldn’t.

And as to what she plans on doing with that extra cashflow: school arts programs and the Tohoku Earthquake/Tsunami relief efforts. At least she’s giving some money. Wells Fargo threw up a “donation box” and notice on their ATM’s; I mistook this notice as a “this ATM may have been broken into/tampered/inproperly modified” warnings.

I can’t believe it took me 5 days to realize why stuff wouldn’t upload (created way more work than I had to, like always). A random place like a rooftop would be awesome. Now to find access to one. Not to jump, just to sit and process thoughts. Preferably when dark outside, and temps. above the 50 degree mark. Sitting on a porch playing Drink Car isn’t bad, either.

Currently working my way through Mad Men; getting unrealistic expectations about smoking indoors but it is very decent as of end of season 1.

This and a scene in Morning Glory (walking across the Brooklyn Bridge) reminded me of walking around at (technically) 3A.M. last Sunday. There’s a lot of strange personas out and about for Sunday at 2/3. A creeper came over to me in the most weird way and started conversing about how redbox has no good movies ever; before that, a drunkard “holding up” a cement wall asked how my night was and whether I saw 5 cops across the bridge. Police scanner app later announced a potential beating or victim or something at a downtown motel; drunk wall support was long gone on the return trip, two downtown cruisers’ booked it across the bridge, and “no sign of victim” was the last I heard before I turned it off.

I should turn this into one of those motivation posters in some way.

Waste of time illustrating the concept of the Interstate Highway System displacing small roadside towns like Radiator Springs, in my opinion. I’ve also watched this movie at least 3 times with younger cousins, and a couple times on Starz back home, so I may have a biased view. Doesn’t excuse the fact that I bothered going to class just to listen to your literal lecture, then played a child’s film and claimed “So, I have to go, but my lovely (ass-suction-cup face) assistant right here will help you with any questions.”

Also, acquired a new mattress today. Hopefully, it will diminish the random waking up at night and having weird stomach issues.

Last, I’m not sure how to have color and be able to work it in a timely (somewhat) manner, so black and white is here to stay. For now. I may go back to the ubersexy palette offering that is Microsoft Paint sometime, eventually. Maybe.

My past week has been consumed by taking part in a ritual that occurs every time (well, most often) I acquire a new high-end electronic device. The latest acquisition: an iPod touch. Granted, its the 2nd gen 8 gig coz I was cheap and figured it’ll be replaced in a year or two. Then again, I kept thinking and saying the same thing with my previous iPods, a 3rd gen w/ a normal routine of replace-the-battery-every-year and a twice-failed hard disk, and a pink Nano. It was $20 and the juice still lasts decently long. Which has since been transferred to my dad. 50 year old with his first iPod and computer, glad he’s happy. Overall though, I like my new iPod. It may not have the network connection of the iPhone or whatnot, but it’s a very convenient and second-brain-like touch thing with little app programs that do what I want.

I noticed not long after my last update that this somewhat turned into a blog-esque site. Or at least I’m interpreting it as such. Either way, it works. (30 sec. update: I figured out why this was double posting.)

Looking forward to school starting back up, if only for constant submergence in WiFi and fast internet, and a restart of a life-as-somewhat-usual schedule. Supposedly I have a new roommate, who I have yet to meet… Its a woman, and everyone thinks I know her as she hangs with Tyler a lot, but the dank truth is that I don’t observe/pay attention to him too much, and so all clues that people give to me fail miserably.

Naturally, the further I go, the worse it gets unfortunately; and its much easier to bury my head in the sand (0r shoot out an old computer, haha). Especially when internet access isn’t as ubiquitous as even Houghton or Marquette. Screw the U.P.; I’m a fool for the city. (Street lights, big dreams, all lookin’ pretty…)

Though, I do find my family’s semi-secluded property decently comfortable and away from others. Peaceful, at least until blasting the next “Motown shit”* album outside when yardworking.

*My mother considers rap, R&B, hip hop, and a chunk of pop all combined into the Afro-American genre “Motown”. Realistically, I’d like to see at least one R&B station up here. We really need another country and/or Praise-Jesus-and-become-wholly-virtuous-or-else-you-will-burn-indefinitely-in-hell radio station like we need some people’s half-assed attempt to extort Uncle Jesse.

Speaking of which, doesn’t John Stamos look awesomely good? At least he finds Marquette “a beautiful little town”, and states that he looks forward to coming back with the Beach Boys, with whom he plays with, schedule pending. Might have to make a trip down to Escanaba on Sept. 3rd-4th, get down in Kokomo (well, as much as one can in a tropical island-themed casino and hotel.)

Side note: looking at adding to this site at least twice a week. If it’s not written somewhere, it won’t be followed. (Not that that guarantees the following of policies here or in real life, but I’m sure the dude who originally set this up appreciates it. Its more likely that I’ll remember it with me writing this down.)

It was great for what it was/is, a new and awesome (circa 2007) method of communicating. Now it’s appears to be another system for one’s “friends” (How do I have 237 friends? Haven’t even talked to some of these idiots in over 4 years, what the heck) to pester everyone with Mafia Wars and Farmville requests, or strange and (some unsolicited, some unwanted, some both) conversations/comments, or narcissistic sobbing on a public forum.

The “f” has been dropped from my life. Much like a piece of shit around midday in the employee bathroom at work.

I expect the future “hover car” to look something like a regular car, with some sort of floating apparatus integrated into where the wheels/wheel wells would go. Since the general design of a car hasn’t really made any dramatic change in the past 100+ years, where do these bubble-shaped dome-on-top-of-disc-like-bowl ideas really appear? UFOs?

As it is most likely not apparent when solely looking at this; when I drew this, the Fox 5 Traffic Report was on in the background.
