You could already be living in a giant computer simulation. (Brief Article) Michael Brooks. OF COURSE you thought The Matrix was fiction. But only because you were meant to. Do you think they're stupid enough to let us realise what's really going on? It usually takes a conspiracy theorist to hatch such a far-fetched plot.

But Nick Bostrom is a philosopher at Yale University, and he believes the Hollywood block buster is closer to the truth than many of us would care to believe. He's done the calculations, and he reckons that we could well be living inside a simulation. That's right. Your life might actually be a computer program developed by a post-human society living in what you think of as the future. In a paper submitted to the journal Mind, Bostrom has outlined exactly how he reached this chilling conclusion. The reasoning starts with one simple premise.At some point, civilisation will develop enormously powerful computers capable of mimicking what we call consciousness. And if that premise is true, the rest follows logically. Outrageous? Not a bit of it. Look at it rationally. If it becomes technologically possible to mimic consciousness, the future can only pan out in one of three ways. First, some extinction event--maybe a powerful but deadly technology, maybe a natural disaster--will wipe us out before we actually do it. If that's true, then you can relax. What you're experiencing right now is real life. The second scenario is also a comforting one: future humans won't be interested in running simulations. They might be too sophisticated to bother with such games, or there may be laws against it. But do either of those noble outcomes sound like a probable future of human civilisation to you? Thought not.
Which leaves us with the least palatable option: humans will one day simulate consciousness, and then go on to create simulated Universes for it to live in. If that's true then the chances are they've already done so, and you're living in one. OK, it's just possible that you're part of the pre-simulation real world-what Bostrom calls the "original history". But given how many simulations there'll be, the probability of that is very slim. All things considered, Bostrom says, the probability that you're living in a simulation is "close to unity". "I think the argument is watertight," he says. Any logical argument, of course, is only as good as its premises. But Bostrom has got that covered too. Imagine that we do indeed live in the

"original history". How likely is it that we're on the trajectory leading to computers that can mimic consciousness? According to Bostrom, very, very likely. All you need is to discover the particular type of computational processes that leads to what we call consciousness. "A computer running a suitable program would be conscious," Bostrom says. Roboticist Hans Moravec of Carnegie Mellon University in
Pittsburgh has worked out that, whatever the "suitable program" turns out to be, emulating a mind would take about [10.sup.14] operations per second. That seems like a lot now-today's fastest computers struggle to get above [10.sup.12] operations per second- but we're heading in the right direction. Big thinkers As Bostrom points out, big thinkers such as Ray Kurzweil and Eric Drexler already argue that we haven't yet squeezed the full potential out of our existing computing resources. Today's nanotechnology would let us build a system the size of a sugar cube that would perform [10.sup.21] operations per second. And a computer with a mass equivalent to a large planet could do [10.sup.42] operations per second. We might even be building such systems by the end of the century. Even if we discount the possibility that new physics
could lead to super-powerful methods of computing, our current technology is already leading us towards a mind-emulating future. Once there's enough computing power to simulate consciousness, creating an
environment for it to interact with will be child's play. For one thing, simulating an entire Universe down to the minutest level would be a waste of resources. You would only need to simulate to a degree where the universe's inhabitants didn't notice any irregularities (remember those "disturbances" in the matrix). So, for example, there'd be no point filling in every microscopic detail, or the minutiae of distant astronomical objects, until someone decided to look at them. Then the creators could fill in the necessary details on an ad hoc basis. Obviously, the view has to be convincing, but there's no way the observer can know how these things ought to look or behave. It's quite likely a consciousness looking at odd features in the microscopic world of atoms and electrons would accept any bizarre irregularities at this level as "just the way things are". If you've ever wrestled with the weird nature of quantum mechanics, alarm bells may just be starting to ring... So what shall we do? Bostrom thinks we should keep calm and act normally; there's certainly no need to flip out. "Anyone who started to change their life because of this would be a mad loony," he says. But Robin Hanson, an economist at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, doesn't agree. He argues that you should alter your behaviour radically: if your life is just a computer simulation, you need to do
everything possible to make sure you're not deleted. First you need to workout the purpose of the simulation. If it's for entertainment then you'd better make sure you're part of the fun. What that means varies across cultures, so to be safe you should be funny, outrageous, violent, sexy, strange, pathetic and heroic all at once --"in a word'dramatic'," Hanson says. If the simulation is for the creator to participate in, then they're
probably going to want to rub shoulders with the rich and famous, or even play a famous persons. So you'd better be the life and soul of the party, and--most important of all--suck up to celebrities. But if the simulation is for the creator to play God, punishing and rewarding minions' behaviour, you'll do well to live a blameless life instead. And one more thing: don't be tempted to breathe a word about this to anyone. Hanson says that if everyone knows they're in a simulation, the whole thing will start to look stilted and staged, and the creator is likely to pull the plug. Keep it to yourself, or tell only a few close friends. Then you can get on with finding a purpose to your so-called lives: escaping. Entertaining though it might be, Bostrom thinks Hanson's advice is useless because it's almost impossible to work out what our world is for. "We don't have any direct access to how the simulators set it up," he says. "The least misleading advice would be to get on with your business as you would have done before." He even thinks it would be OK for everyone to know what's going on.
"Presumably in the original history there were people who had these crazy ideas," he says. "If you were trying to run as realistic simulation as you could, you wouldn't want to ban that." Maybe he's right. After all, millions of us sat through The Matrix without them pulling the plug onus. And nobody panicked at the idea that the Earth was a simulation created by a future civilisation intent on tapping our bodies for energy. But what did Bostrom think when the film came out? Was he impressed by its veracity? Not really. "Using humans as an energy source is ridiculously implausible," he says. "But that's Hollywood for you." Sony announces new Horror Game for PS Move 'Until Dawn'

Here's something that might have a lot of potential, but that does not seem to be the first choice for games developers: a horror game using the Move's control. But it seems that people from British developer "Supermassive Games" have had enough "balls" to try something differently. Their next game will be called, Until Dawn and you will follow the nightmare of seven teenagers who had the misfortune to pick one of the worst vacation spots: a little cabin in the mountains with no phone signal, miles away from civilization and not finally, haunted by a ghost killer. The game Until Dawn , that will make extensive use of the PlayStation Move, features a story that will remind us of many horror movies we saw when we were younger, with a group of teenagers to mountain for an anniversary.

You'll play sooner or later with all seven characters you'll have to keep alive through a terrifying night , but not all teenagers will might see the light of day from this nightmare experience. Sounds like a good recipe to new ghost-story? Go figure.

With the Move, you can use the flashlight and the other lever you make other decisions in real time. It's a well thought out? Or, and this project is doomed to fail? It remains to be seen!

In this future of humanity, memory manipulation and "augmented reality" have control of citizens lives,secrecy of our past is no longer belongs to us - memories can be now scan,digitize, buy, sell or trade personal memories, and now people can reveal everything about anyone if they pay right price.
Nilin is the main character of this game, she was apparently one of the best at this to steal hidden past memories, but somehow along the time, somebody erased her memory and now she's determined to figure out why.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted este o reinventare a jocului din 2005 cu acelaşi nume, titlul va fi lansat pentru console şi PC. Most Wanted este dezvoltat de Criterion Games si Electronic Arts si vor ajunge pe rafturi în toamna anului 2012.

Jocul este plasat într-o lume deschisă, jucătorii vor putea să conducă prin locuri unde nici nu şi-au imaginat şi în funcţie de caracteristicile tehnice ale automobilelor.

Astfel goneşti cu viteze nebune pe alei laterale şi ai la dispozitie o mulţime de locuri vacante (pentru maşini off-road ) pe care poti sa le foloseşti pentru a scăpa de echipajele de poliţie care sunt pe urmele tale. Mai mult decât atât fanii seriei Hot Pursuit şi Burnout, vor recunoaşte în acest joc ca viteza peste limita, accidente spectaculoase şi drift-urile controlate sunt elemente normale din acest joc.

Un segment al noului NFS : Most Wanted va avea parte de un multiplayer online unde împreună cu jucători din toată lumea vor avea la dispozitie o multime de masini, multe moduri de a schimba setarile unui supercar şi o listă nesfârşită de curse.

Autolog se intoarce ( locul unde se desfasora modul multiplayer in NFS ) se numeste Autolog 2 şi este următoarea generaţie a acestui gameserver on-line. În Autolog din prima versiune se înregistra doar cele mai bune curse de şi le împărtăşea cu prietenii, în Most Wanted 2012, sistemul Autolog 2 salvează si distribuie: cele mai rapide tururi, cele mai lungi sărituri, tot ceea ce veţi câştiga sau veți descoperiti în joc ( traseele ascunse, scurtături ) va fi trimis catre prietenii voştri provocândui sa va bata recordurile şi poate sa faceti o cursa rapida cu ei.

Ubisoft lanseaza noi lumi deschise catre viitor din industria jocurilor video, în cadrul emisiunii de prezentare a acestui joc de la conferinta E3 2012, şi acest show a intarit faptul ca "Watch Dogs" este unul dintre jocurile cele mai impresionante ale expoziţiei E3 2012.
În această lume în care computerele controleaza aproape toate aspectele vieţii noastre şi în acest prezent unde nu putem trăi fără telefoane mobile,laptopuri şi tablete, toate sunt interconectate la internet iclusiv computerele care fac un oras sa functioneze ( semafoare, camere de supraveghere, etc ), acest joc este foarte ancorat în realitatea de astăzi.

Vei juca ca Aiden Pearce care este justitiarul din jocul Watch Dogs. Watch Dogs deschide o lume plina de acţiune şi foarte periculoasa, Aiden poate sparge "CTO" oraşului Chicago (Sistemul Central de Operare). Acest computer conţine toate informaţiile electronice pentru toti locuitorii și care informatii pot fi folosite pentru o mulţime de scopuri.

Ideea jocului este că, în acest timp, aproape toate marile orasele sunt legate printr-o retea la un calculatorul central. Această reţea care rulează prin internet şi leaga inclusiv luminile de pe fiecare stradă, fiecare semafor, fiecare înregistrare financiara atunci când utilizaţi un cardul de credit, fiecare camera de ATM-uri, fiecare bază de date, fiecare macaz de la metrou, orice urma a istoriei electronice ( atunci cand navigati pe internet ) sau un trecut ascuns, toate acestea sunt accesibile dacă ştiţi cum să spargeti o bază de date. Una dintre aceste persoane care pot face acest lucru este Aiden Pierce, un hacker cu o istorie tulbure, care se luptă cu autorităţile, cu fiecare dispozitiv accesibil si care il poate ajuta in lupta sa.

Acţiunea jocului se desfasoara intr-un oraş din timpul revoluţiei industriale, cu multe elemente SF, jocul este atât de ciudat şi întunecat, descrierea acestui gen este Steampunk.
Stilistic subgenul este plasat în epoca victoriană, dominat de numeroase invenţii şi o lume plasata sub puterea aburului in care genul Steampunk descrie o istorie alternativă.

Va trebui să elimini diverse tinte cu un sistem de luptă flexibil,abilităţi supranaturale, numeroase arme şi gadget-uri neobisnuite aflate la dispoziţia voastră. Urmaritiva inamicii sub acoperirea întunericului si atacati fara mila cu lovituri bine plasate.

Alegerile pe care le faceti vor determina soarta acestei lumi, dar indiferent ce ce se se va intampla, viata pe care ai avut-o in trecut nu va mai fi la fel.

In acest joc esti Corvo Atano bodyguard-ul de încredere a Imparatesei.Tu esti acuzat de uciderea ei şi condus de răzbunare şi ură, ve-i deveni asasinul cel mai infam, cunoscut dupa masca grotesca şi terifianta, care va deveni cartea ta de vizita.

În timp ce calatoriti printr-o lume afectată de ciuma si asuprita de un guvern care dispune de o tehnologie de ciudata şi de arme care aduc moartea pe străzi, adevărul din spatele trădării dumneavoastră este la fel de tulburator ca apele din jurul oraşului.

You play as Aiden Pearce is the vigilante in the game Watch Dogs. Watch Dogs opens a world of action and very dangerous , Aiden hack the "CTOS" city of Chicago (Central Operating System). This computer contains any electronics information for all the city's people, which can be used for a lot of purposes.

The concept is that, in this time, almost all big cities have a Central Computer link to a network. This network running on the internet, and through on every streets light, every traffic light, every financial record when you use the credit card,every ATM camera, every database, every subway, every bit of electronic history or hidden past, if you know how to hack a database . One of those people is Aiden Pierce, a hacker with a disturb history who is fighting with the authorities with every tool and every equipment on his hand.

The Bethesda and Arkane Studios have joined forces and created a new action game called "Dishonored" . The screenshots and video trailler don't give much of a taste of the action in this game but they do hint at a title heavy on atmosphere and the time.

Action of this game is in a city where seems the time is industrial revolution with SF elements of the game makes it appear so strange and dark this genre is named Steampunk.
Stylistically subgenus is placed in Victorian era, dominated by numerous inventions and a world placed under power of steam and Steampunk describes an alternative history.

You must eliminate your targets with the flexible combat system with numerous supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual,weird gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make.
Choices that You make will be determine the fate of the world, but no matter what happens your old life is gone forever and never going to be the same .

In the game you are Corvo Atano the most trusted bodyguard of Empress.You are accused for her murder and driven by revenge and hate, you become an most infamous assassin, known only by the grotesquely and terrifying mask that has become yours visit card.

In time once you navigate in a world affected by plague and oppressed by a government that posesses a strange technology and weapons that bring death on the streets, the truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city.
