Setting sun through trees

I’ve enjoyed the photo walks through the woods this week, but I believe they’re taking a break after this shot. The way the color of the sun changes over the course of a day, the course of seasons, and through different things is pretty incredible. Do you ever catch yourself peeking around trees directly at the sun, watching the beams of light come into view? Really insane how fast light travels, but looks the way it does.

Went on a walk for about an hour this evening. Not sure why I’m picking this photo to be honest. I’m always amused when people like certain photos, and don’t care much for others. Fun to hear opinions and understand how different styles can be.

Not that great of a shot from maybe 100 ft. away, but I guess it works. I actually ran back 300 ft. to the bridge, crossed the river and walked through weeds (in shorts) trying to get a better picture. On the way there I didn’t have the zoom lens at all and missed Bambi from 20 ft. away. Ugh!!! Maybe next time!

Riel from Cambodia

The designs of paper money have always fascinated me a bit. Cambodia’s currency has no coins, and their paper money (Riel) has some intricate designs. Especially when you’re zoomed in with the macro lens within centimeters. Maybe tomorrow I’ll snap a shot of Benjamin Franklin’s nose hairs.

After liking AMC Theaters on Facebook and getting their occasional “any size popcorn or drink for $1″ coupon, I decided to go see Inception today. How can you pass up a $14.00 value for $2.00? I enjoyed the movie – definitely unique and interesting. Purchasing the drink (and drinking only 1/2 of it) during the movie, then refilling the drink and buying the large popcorn to bring home to the family.

My wife’s extended family had their annual get-together, where 56 were in attendance. We all had a good time, even being outside on the hottest July 24th on record some 200 years. I wondered around the farm and ended up being cornered by a corn field, defending myself with my camera.

Walked into the house this evening, and heard the girls playing in the basement. They only had the track lighting turned on, so it made for a pretty decent photo after setting the white balance correctly. I love my girls!

Was at Grace Church in Powell tonight helping Kary Oberbrunner with our last Your Secret Name Live chat tonight, but grabbed a few blackberries outside their church first for a quick snack. They’re just now turning ripe here in Ohio!

Went for a quick 30 minute walk behind the house tonight and was able to get within an inch of this guy. They fly so fast – I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get a clear enough shot. The depth of field is probably a bit too narrow, but I guess it works!
