Took over300 shots today during my first experience with the USLMRA (U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association) at their inaugural U.S. Open (championships), just 45 minutes away at the Delaware County Fairgrounds here in Ohio. Had a chance to talk to this driver after he took a spill around the first turn. You can view quite a few more pictures from the event here. Would you have the courage to race lawn mowers?

Blue Angels

Our family stuck it out in the chilly / rainy / windy 50 degree weather today at the Cleveland National Air Show to watch the Blue Angels. Today’s photo has to be the hardest choice I’ve had to make all year. Click here to check out some other Blue Angels pics, and one that was a close winner of a biplane over Shockwave (speed truck that blasts fire). Great day, but the weather sure could have been better!

Thought I would give HDR (Photomatix Pro) a shot this evening by capturing three different exposures (dark / normal / light) of Marla at her desk. I think I’d give it a B or B- on the grading scale. The woman working on her fifth book, I’d give an A+ of course!

I’m enjoying coaching my two older daughters and six other girls (each between 8-10 yrs. of age), but you won’t catch me wearing the coach’s shirt this year. Not sure if a woman that’s coaching the league through a fit over having to wear red, but this pastel stuff just doesn’t fly.

Had to run an errand, so I thought I would capture today’s photo on the way. Wasn’t sure where it would be, but it ended up being while driving (slowly) through Westerville this evening. Things get odd when you are moving and leave the lens open for a few seconds.

Soccer snacks

After practice tonight (coaching our oldest two girls), I was able to snap a promo shot of them reaching into a cooler. The shot will be used for a promotion that we are doing at 104.9 the River with Meijer, and a contest where families can win free snacks for their child’s team for a game! Pretty cool idea I think. Tomorrow I will apply the logos to the cooler, and brand the image to go with the campaign / contest.

Your Secret Name book launch

After work I drove over to Kary Oberbrunner’s place and helped him manage a 6pm – midnight online launch party for the release of his new book, Your Secret Name. We were able to chat with many people via our chat box while interviewing other authors that are part of the Throw Mountains team. By the end of the day over 10,000 people had visited the website, but more importantly – lives were changed. Girls at Zoombezi Bay

We all had a blast today at Zoombezi Bay (waterpark that is on the Columbus Zoo property). Nina and I took took two laps around the Lazy River, and she even wanted to sail under the fountains and buckets that spill water on your face. Marla and I took turns with the two older ones on the tube slides. We were tired (and I was sunburnt) after 5 hours of fun!
