Cherry Mobile Flare Lite DTV

My brother bought this Cherry Mobile Flare Lite DTV phone last year during Lazada.com.ph sale for less that a thousand pesos. It got 512MB RAM, 4-inch WVGA display, 233ppi, 1,400mAh, 1.2GHz Quad Core... it's basically a crappy phone. The one redeeming attribute of this phone is that it got a built in Digital TV. But still its a fuckin crappy phone and on top of that this phone install crapware/malware/adware when not in use. Tried installing anti-malware, anti-virus but it didn't work, tried flashing the ROM that didn't work either. After a couple of tries i gave up and chuck the phone in the drawer and forgot about it.

Flash forward to today found a simple way to stop those unwanted app from installing and the answer is NoRoot Firewall!

Just innstall the NoRoot Firewall app and block anything that's trying to access the internet that look suspicious, especially this one app the "android system, cherry dtv..."(screenshot below) of all the apps running this one is trying to access anubisnetworks and linode.com not really 100% sure if this app is the culprit but zero malware has been installed since i denied internet access for that app.

Now that malware issue is solve(hopefully) this phone is still crappy and it's sooooo underpowered. Apps just start and runs soooooo gaddamn slow but luckily popular apps like Facebook, Instagram, Spotify and Firefox got Lite version perfect for this phone. So now it's less crappy still crappy but less.

Howto Embed Videos from your Google Photo to your Blog or Website

To do this you need a Google Drive and Google Photos Account.

1. Upload or backup your video to Google Photos

2. Sign in to Google Drive on your desktop computer with the same email you use to sign in to Google Photos.
To Link your Google photos to your Google Drive:

In Google Drive click settings click "Create a Google Photos folder" and click done.

Next in Google Photos click settings and switch on "Google Drive sync photos & video from Google Drive"

3. Click Google Photos in the left sidebar under My Drive

4. Find and double click the video you want to share (Videos have a Play icon on them) the video will open in a lightbox

5. Click the 3 dot More actions icon at the top of the page click "Open in new window" icon

6. When the video has popped out in its own window click the 3 dot More actions icon at the top of the page Select "Embed item"

8. Copy the embed code

9. Paste the embed code in your website or blog

10. Voila! Your Done!

Been searchin around the web on how to stream video using dropbox. Found Lockergnome how to guide on doing this, except for one thing, the damn video won't play.

following Lockergnome's instruction this is what i did

Its been awhile since i last since my last post. I have returned to my first passion and that is biking. I have been spending less time with my computer and more time riding outside with my fixed gear bike. The only time i get to use my computer is to check on bike stuff on the internet. overall this means this blog is going from tech stuff to fixed gear biking. thats all :)
