"Snake Bag" uses children's backpacks to reflect on the earthquake in Sichuan, China.
"Snake Bag" commemorates the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. Unnumbered children died in that calamity because of faulty school construction attributed to local corruption. Their backpacks lay scattered within the rubble, tangible symbols of their truncated lives.
"Snake Bag", realizada con mochilas de niños. Recuerda el terremoto de Sichuan de 2008. Un gran número de niños murieron en esa catástrofe por la defectuosa construcción de las escuelas, atribuida a la corrupción local. Sus mochilas estaban esparcidas en los escombros, símbolos tangibles de sus vidas truncadas.

Ai Weiwei has covered the floor of the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern in London with more than 100 million individually handmade replica sunflower seeds. The installation invites visitors to walk over the porcelain pieces, which cover 1000 square metres of the hall.
