Every persons initial step in online money making is setting goals.  Goals give you vision and a reason for what you are trying to accomplish online.  Write down your goals, print it out and place it someplace where you will see every single day.  Even better, make a simple home page so that every time you open your favorite browser your goals will be right in front of you because after all you should be right in front of your computer a lot if you are going to make any money online.  This website is a testament to one of my goals, and most would tell you that my goals are clearly listed close by at all times.  I even have a copy of my goals in my wallet.  This helps to ensure that I review my goals every day, providing me motivations and incentive to reach the next level.  Some will say that setting goals is for the weak minded, but any millionaire will tell you that they set goals in order to achieve their success, so you should too.

One million dollars.  Once again that magical number that says you’ve made it in life.

But did you know that you don’t have to work your whole life to achieve such a monumental financial achievement?  Yes, you heard correctly: you DON’T have to work your whole saving here and there to retire as a millionaire.  Believe it or not you can have all your savings completed before you are twenty one and still retire a millionaire.

Here’s how this easy yet brilliant plan to retire a millionaire works.  It all starts while you are young, vibrant and full of energy.  You are barely sixteen years old and your parents have allowed you to work part time for spending money and everyday expenses.

Now let’s say that every year that you work you take home about $7500.  Out of the money that you earned you invest $2000 of it into a Roth IRA. By investing in a Roth IRA your money will continue to grow tax free as long as you have the account open.  Once you reach the ripe old age of 59 1/2 you can withdraw your money tax free and enjoy your retirement.

Now here comes the true secret to retiring a millionaire.  Money when invested is compounded annually and is usually figured as an average percent over the last twelve months. Would you like to make instant millions? I can’t think of anyone that wouldn’t, myself included. Now can this be done in today’s world?  Certainly.  Is it as easy checking email?  Definitely not.  In fact, it’s not likely that you can make an instant million, that is unless you are fortunate enough to win the lottery or inherit a large sum of money.  However, there are several things you can do to get started down the road to a million dollars.

Well quite simply as the title states, in order to be a success and achieve ones goals, you have to be a person of action.  That means simply that you have to outline your plan, set your goals, then take steps to ensure that these things happen.  Then and only then will your goals be met and your plan become a success.

Anyways, I wrote the above to remind myself that it takes dedication, perseverance and action in order to achieve the goals I have set for myself.  August is turning out to be just like the previous few months with no real gain in income, partly due to my lack of planning, unforeseen tasks that we placed upon me, and yes the weather!  Having sporadic internet and power for three days last week certainly did not help me one bit.

However, the real weight I have been dragging around is the lack of action.  It seems I do get online daily, but once I am finished with my online session I have not accomplished anything towards achieving my goals.  This I find is mostly once again procrastination, lack of discipline and lack of a written plan of attack.

So with that I will spend the remaining part of today writing out what my goals are, the tools I will use to accomplish these goals, and the actual steps I will need to take on a daily basis before I do anything else online.

Ok, so money really doesn’t grow on trees. However, there is money to be made in growing trees. Over 20 years ago my younger brother and I helped our father start a small mail order tree nursery. Our dad placed some classified ads in a few of the local papers advertising Colorado Blue Spruce tree seedlings for sale, to be delivered in the Spring for planting. He ordered the trees from a nursery supplier in Pennsylvania, and when the trees came in we helped pack and ship them to the customers. Today he has a full fledged tree nursery and landscape business in Mid-Western Wisconsin that still serves both mail order and drive in customers. I know, you think I must be joking that one can achieve millionaire status by saving just twenty dollars per day.  In all seriousness ANYONE can become a millionaire through the most common way to make make a million dollars, and it really isn’t that hard.  But just how long would it take to achieve such a lofty financial goal?

If twenty dollars was put aside into your savings with no interest added it would take over 135 years for you to save one million dollars.  Combine that with normal inflation and by the time you will have saved such a  large amount, it will not be worth very much.

Now lets say instead of just saving your twenty dollars per day you invested it…how long would this take?  Well with an average stock market return of about ten percent per year and combined with the effects of compound interest, your daily twenty dollar savings will have turned into a million dollars in about twenty five years!  Now we’re talking! According to a recent report by Merrill Lynch, there are nearly 2.9 million households in the United States that have a net worth of one million dollars, which included all financial assets as well as real estate. In a report from 2006 it was stated that there were about 9.3 million households that had a net worth of at least $1 million dollars NOT including real estate.

So, are these millionaires the real deal? For the ones that have liquid assets (stocks, bonds, and mutual funds) totaling over $1 million dollars they certainly are. However, for those that include real estate in their holdings they certainly are millionaires, but these assets are not liquid and therefore with recent market fluctuations and mortgage problems this has greatly affected many portfolios. Once again I had to start this blog over.  I’ve had the site up for about several years now and have restarted it twice.  The first time was due to a server mover;  I had the site hosted through a membership site and when I was rudely booted from the site the hosting went with it, and I lost the database.  This time I’m giving it a fresh new look to match my new drive an ambition to make one million dollars online.

I’ve dabbled with affiliate marketing for almost 10 years now, but to be honest I’ve never been really serious about it.  It’s made me a nice side income at times, and I’m thankful for that.  However, I’ve always been somewhat lazy when it comes to implementing million dollars ideas.  What’s even worse is that I’ve purchased money making methods only to find out that the method purchased I already knew.  So I’ve wasted some money buying useless information and a lot of time reading forums.  Now don’t get me wrong, forums are a great place to network with like minds, but by the time one has finished reading all the posts and chatting several hours have passed and nothing has been done to help you make any money.

So, I’m restarting my million dollar blog with a renewed emphasis on creating and realizing my money making goals.  I’m still on the million dollar path, but I have to learn to walk before I can run.  I’ll be updating the blog once or twice a week on what I am doing, while also posting million dollar ideas on how ways to make a million dollars online!
