Best Buy offers free Side Shield, Apple looks into iOS 4 issues on iPhone 3G, Droid X ad pokes fun at antenna woes

Best Buy Mobile has announced that anyone who buys or previously purchased an iPhone 4 from the Best Buy Mobile store will get a free Zagg Side Shield . The Side Shield is the invisibleSHIELD film from Zagg and prevents the infamous antenna issues. According to the WSJ Apple is conducting a probe into the issues iPhone 3G users are seeing with iOS 4 on the smartphone. The main complaint is slow operation after the install. The woes of iPhone 4 users and the antenna design on the new smartphone are legendary at this point. Motorola has taken the rare misstep by Apple and turned it into a chance to poke fun at the iPhone 4 with a new ad leading with a tag line “No Jacket Required.”

ATTENTION iPhone 3G & 3Gs Unlockers: Baseband 05.14.01+ Makes Ultrasn0w 0.93 Exploit Obsolete Post from: FSMdotCOM Just a quick heads-up: Sherif Hashim confirmed that baseband 05.14.01 ( and above ) makes ultrasn0w 0.93′s exploit obsolete. iPhone 3G and 3Gs users should stay on iOS 4.0 or 4.0.1 and do not update to future iOS releases, otherwise you won’t be able to unlock your iPhone. Probably ultrasn0w will be updated in the future or, who knows, new unlocking tools will be released. But for now, just stay away from that update button.

Walt Mossberg: Despite The Exposed Antenna, The iPhone 4 Does Better Than The 3Gs [video] Post from: FSMdotCOM Walt Mossberg, personal technology columnist for the Wall Street Journal, tested the iPhone 4 for six weeks and came to the conclusion that although i4′s voice call capabilities could’ve been better handled, the devices still does better than its predecessor, the iPhone 3Gs. He also said that the ‘death grip’ is not such a serious issue. It does make the i4 drop bars yes, but it’s not dropping calls. Despite the hot-spot issue and the exposed antenna, the iPhone 4 does better than the 3GS for me in decent coverage. But I still wouldn’t advise adopting it as your primary phone if you live, work or travel in areas with poor AT&T reception, or if you prefer a network under less stress. Arkhippo case concept, white iPhone antenna fix rumor, iOS 4.1 beta 2 for devs

If you like to use your iPhone in a case that adds a lot of bulk I have the concept for you. The case concept is called the Arkhippo and is made from a material that is like Crocs shoes. The idea is that the case lets you stand you iPhone up or lay it on its side for watching video. With the white iPhone 4 getting another delay recently rumors have started to swirl that there may be another reason. According to the rumors the delay may be to fix the antenna issue on the white handset. Apple has offered up a new iOS 4.1 Beta 2 release specifically for devs. If you are a dev the new beta OS supports the iPhone 4, 3GS, and 3G as well as the iPod touch.
