Tablao de Carmen Flamenco was created as a tribute to the great flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya (Barcelona, 1913 – Gerona, 1963), and Tablao de Carmen has been offering a flamenco show in its purest form since 1988.

The tablao is located in the Poble Espanyol de Montjuïc, one of the most beautiful parks in Barcelona and is surrounded by many interesting sites for visitors.

The Tablao de Carmen has maintained a rigorous artistic level since it was conceived. The show always includes distinguished, well-known artists within the flamenco world, accompanied by promising young artists for whom tablaos have historically served as a school and a springboard to fame. As such, the performance is constantly being kept fresh.

The show offered at the Tablao de Carmen is a typical tablao show, that is to say, there is no formal choreography or synchronized organization. The show presents many of the most important and representative styles of flamenco so that audiences can appreciate the wealth and variety of this art in all of its facets: music, dancing and singing.

The duo will perform a preview of their North American tour at the Olympic Park on Sunday 14 July, where the festival will be held for the first time. Live Nation runs the event, where Nicki Minaj and Rihanna performed in 2012.

Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are heading out on their North American Legends of The Summer Stadium Tour this year. Hip-hop pioneers A Tribe Called Quest will also play at Wireless at their first UK show in twenty years.

Jay-Z is already the main act on Saturday 13 July when Emeli Sande and Rita Ora will also perform.

About the Show

Increasingly, however, the irrevocable movement of Norwegians towards the cities – cities that are themselves places of great beauty, such as Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger and Tromsø – has altered the relationship between Norwegians and their natural world. But one thing remains unaltered: to paraphrase that great Norwegian son, Henrik Ibsen, those who wish to understand Norwegians, must first understand Norway’s magnificent but severe natural environment, for these are a people of the land, perhaps more so than any other Europeans. Wilderness in Norway has become more of a leisure pursuit, an idea that Norwegians embrace, escape to and explore with great fervour.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the country’s national parks – shining symbols of the nation’s desire to protect the environment as much as they are showpieces of Norway’s peerless landscapes and otherworldly natural grace.
