<p>If you&#8217;re like everyone else you&#8217;ll be excited about Google&#8217;s announcement of a new keyword selection tool for AdWords. But, is the new tool any good?</p>
<li>Where To Find The New Keyword Selection Tool</li>
<p>For once, everybody can trial Google&#8217;s new keyword tool rather than just a select few. To take part in the trial, log into your AdWords account and click on the &#8220;Opportunities&#8221; tab.</p>
<p>Scroll down the left side of your browser and find the &#8220;Tools&#8221; box. Within the box click on the &#8220;Keyword Tool&#8221; link to show the existing keyword selection tool. At the top of the page will be a link inviting you to &#8220;take a look at the new keyword tool&#8221;. Click on this link to start your trial.</p>
<li><strong>What&#8217;s New In The New Google AdWords Keyword Selection Tool</strong>?</li>
<p>The first change you&#8217;re likely to notice is the &#8220;categories&#8221; tree.</p>
<p>This tree lists major niches like &#8220;finance&#8221;, &#8220;home &#038; kitchenware&#8221; and &#8220;food&#8221;. Clicking on the &#8220;+&#8221; symbol to the left of a category shows sub-niches within the main niche.</p>
<p>Select the niche that describes your business and Google will reveal a long list of keywords to choose from and use in your AdWords campaign.</p>
<p>With your keyword suggestions, you get the familiar information we&#8217;re all used to like competition levels, estimated costs, local &#038; global search volumes.</p>
<p>New features include a trend graph that shows a keywords popularity over time. You can now tell if your keywords popularity is long term, seasonal or just a flash in the pan.</p>
<p>If you feel the need for more information about your keywords, additional columns can be added to the standard layout to reveal even more statistics. These include estimates on a keywords click-through-rate, ad position, impressions and cost. These should all be very familiar stats to regular users of Google&#8217;s Traffic Estimator tool.</p>
<p><strong>
<li>Advanced Options</li>
<p></strong></p>
<p>Not quite as obvious, but definitely as useful as the &#8220;categories&#8221; feature is the &#8220;Advanced Options&#8221; link. Clicking on this link reveals constraints you can place on your keyword statistics to get an even more realistic view of the performance you can expect from them.</p>
<p>One very useful feature is that you can now restrict your results by geographical location and language. You can also investigate the effect that different &#8216;max cpc&#8217; and &#8216;daily budget&#8217; limits will have on your keywords performance.</p>
<p>Another very interesting new feature is the ability to filter your results based on criteria that you define. For example, you could have the tool show you those keywords that obtain a top 3 position for your budget constraints or just show keywords that have more than 1000 impressions in a month.</p>
<li><strong>Is This Tool More Complicated Than It Needs To Be</strong>?</li>
<p>The new AdWords Keyword Selection Tool certainly provides AdWords advertisers with a very comprehensive view of how your keywords might perform. And I&#8217;m sure the seasoned AdWords expert will get hours of enjoyment looking at potential keywords for their campaign from every angle imaginable.</p>
<p>However, for those that are very new to AdWords, this tool is going to seem very complicated and the results it provides will be hard to fully understand. Many new advertisers are going to be tempted to select an even bigger list of keyword suggestions and add them to their campaign without really doing any proper research on their value.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re thinking that this is going to be good news for Google&#8217;s bank balance, then you&#8217;re probably right. They&#8217;ll probably make lots of extra cash from all the additional keywords these types of advertisers will select. But, maybe not so good for the advertiser who may not see a corresponding rise in sales.</p>

<p>But <strong>what is AdWords Quality Score</strong>, why is it important and how is it calculated?</p>

<p>What is AdWords Quality Score?</p>
<p>Just think about it, what is the purpose of Quality Score?</p>
<p>Google prides its self on providing users with relevant search results to queries. Quality Score is their way to ensure that only the most relevant AdWords ads appear to users.</p>
<p>Why Is Your AdWords Quality Score Important?</p>
<p>The reality is that AdWords calculates a Quality Score for a keyword every time it matches a search query. In general, the higher a keywords Quality Score the lower your bidding costs and the higher the position your ad will appear.</p>
<p>What this means to you is that the higher the Quality Score for your keywords, the less you pay in bids.</p>
<p>How Is AdWords Quality Score Calculated?</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re like most people, when you start using AdWords for the first time you might find the way your Quality Score is calculated and keeps changing very confusing.</p>
<p>What is actually happening is that when you create your brand new campaign, Google calculates a provisional Quality Score for each of your keywords based on how the keywords you choose have performed in the past when used by other advertisers and how relevant your ad is to those keywords.</p>
<p>The right thing to do therefore when setting up a new campaign is to divide your keywords into small ad groups of 10 or less closely related keywords. Each ad group should trigger at least one relevant ad that includes within it the most popular keyword in the ad group, ideally in the title and in the first line of the text.</p>
<p>The landing page of your ad should also point to the most closely related page of your web site for those keywords and not your home page.</p>
<p>As you continue advertising, after maybe a few days, the Google AdWords Bot will visit your web site and evaluate it. It&#8217;s worth remembering that the Bots evaluation is of your entire web site and not just the landing page for your ad.</p>
<p>Therefore your entire web site or at least a significant amount of the content on it needs to be on the general theme of the keywords you&#8217;ve selected.</p>
<p>Now, as your account starts to mature, so the Quality Score of your individual keywords will change based on their performance. If the ad your keywords trigger has a high click-through-rate then it&#8217;s likely that your Quality Score will rise, poor click-through-rate and it will probably fall.</p>
<li>As a rule-of-thumb you should be aiming for a click-through-rate of at least 1% for all your keywords.</li>
<p>What Is Google Actually Looking For?</p>
<p>The actual formula for calculating a keywords Quality Score is a closely guarded secret. However, we do know what Google looks at when making the calculation.</p>
<p>Your AdWords Quality Score is calculated differently depending on if you&#8217;re using Google and the search network or the content network.</p>
<p>For Google and the search network, factors used to calculate Quality Score include:)</p>

+ The historical click-through-rate of your keyword and the ad it triggers.</ol>
<ol>
+ The historical click-through-rate of your entire account. The historical click-through-rate of your domain.</ol>
<ol>
+ The quality of your landing page.</ol>
<ol>
+ The relevance of the keywords to the ads in your Adgroup.</ol>
<li>+ The relevance of the keyword and matched ad to the search query.</li>
<ol>
+ Your accounts performance in the region you&#8217;re targeting.</ol>
<li>For content network, factors include:)</li>
<ol>
+ The ads past performance on the target and similar sites.</ol>
<ol>
+ The relevance of your ads and keywords in the ad group to the target site.</ol>
<ol>
+ The quality of your landing page.</ol>
<p>The best way to improve your keyword Quality Scores is by optimizing your account. This entails making sure that each of your ad groups contain descriptive ads all advertising the same product or service, and that each keyword in the ad group closely relates to the ads.</p>

<p>Your <strong>AdWords click through rate</strong> (ctr) is an important statistic for any <strong>advertising campaign</strong>. A good ctr will reward you with a higher Quality Score. And the better your Quality Score, the less you&#8217;ll pay in bids, saving you money.</p>
<p>It may surprise you to know that improving ctr is easy. Yet incredibly, many advertisers don&#8217;t pay it much attention.</p>
<ul>
<strong>What Is Click Through Rate</strong>?</ul>
<p>You&#8217;re probably wondering how Google calculate ctr values for your account? Well, there is no great mystery. Your <strong>AdWords</strong> Click Through Rate is calculated by dividing the number of clicks on a keyword or ad by the number of impressions.</p>
<p>For example, imagine your ad has shown 100 times and was clicked on 4 times. Your click through rate would be 4/100 or 4%.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that any ctr above 1% is acceptable, 5% is good and a 10% ctr or more is excellent.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re like everyone else, you&#8217;ll easily be able to name two instances where Google measures ctr. But, what most people don&#8217;t realize is that AdWords measures ctr in five different ways. And each has an impact on your Quality Score.</p>
<ul>
<strong>Keywords</strong></ul>
<p>If you&#8217;re like me, you&#8217;ll know that all your keywords have their own ctr value. To improve this statistic, you need more people to click on the ad that your keyword triggers.</p>
<p>You can achieve higher keyword ctr by:</p>
<ul>
+ bidding more so your ad appears higher on the results page.</ul>
<ul>
+ writing a new ad that is more appealing to your audience.</ul>
<ul>
<strong>Ads</strong></ul>
<p>Every ad in your campaign also has its own ctr value.</p>
<li><strong>To improve an ads ctr</strong>:</li>
<ol>
+ Add more relevant keywords to the ad group so your ad gets seen more often.</ol>
<ol>
+ Write an ad that is more appealing to your audience.</ol>
<li><strong>Campaign / Account</strong></li>
<p>Many AdWords advertisers don&#8217;t realize it, but Google also measures the ctr of all your campaigns and your entire account.</p>
<p>The easiest way to improve your campaign&#8217;s ctr is to remove keywords that are not performing. Try removing all keywords that have less than 200 impressions a month and don&#8217;t convert.</p>
<p>Why is this important? Consider this example:</p>
<p>Picture a campaign that regularly gets 1000 impressions a week and 50 click through&#8217;s. Your campaign&#8217;s ctr is 5% (50/1000).</p>
<p>Now, let&#8217;s suppose that 20 of your keywords get 150 impressions and 5 click through&#8217;s a week between them. None of these keywords are converting, so removing them from your campaign is going to do no damage to your sales.</p>
<p>You now get 45 clicks per week and 850 impressions. The ctr for your campaign is 5.3% (45/850).</p>
<p>This represents an increase of 0.3%. A small rise, but every increase in efficiency can be significant. And if the keywords are not contributing to your sales, then they are not useful anyway.</p>
<ul>
<strong>Domain</strong></ul>
<p>Many advertisers, when they experience problems with their Quality Score, believe they can fix the problem by closing their account and opening a new one, They are shocked when this makes no difference.</p>
<p>The fact of the matter is that AdWords tracks your domain performance and will apply a low Quality Score to all the keywords in your new account if you haven&#8217;t fixed the underline problem.</p>
<p>The reality is that you should never try to trick AdWords into giving you a good Quality Score, it won&#8217;t work.</p>
<li><strong>Historical Keyword Performance</strong></li>
<p>Earlier on, I told you that there were five instances where AdWords measured ctr values. The fifth instance is the historical performance of all your keywords.</p>
<p>Millions of people use AdWords, and trillions of keywords have been tried in advertising campaigns. There are few keywords that have not been tried previously by other advertisers.</p>
<p>The ctr that others have achieved with any keyword you select will have a big influence on your Quality Score.</p>
<p>I know what you&#8217;re now thinking, how do you know if the keyword you&#8217;re about to select has a poor historical ctr?</p>
<p>Start by typing the keyword into the &#8220;Traffic Estimator&#8221; tool. This will tell you how many clicks your keyword might expect per day. Multiply this value by 30 to determine how many clicks your keyword will get per month.</p>
<p>Now switch to the &#8220;Keyword Tool&#8221; and enter your keyword again. This tool will return the number of searches you&#8217;d expect per month.</p>
<p>Divide the number of clicks a month by searches and you&#8217;ll get Google&#8217;s ctr for that keyword.</p>
<p>If a keywords ctr is low then beware. Google is trying to tell you that your chances of success are small.</p>
<p>The important thing is that if your keyword has a low historical ctr, but you&#8217;re certain it&#8217;s right for your campaign, then you can still use the keyword. And if you start to achieve a good ctr, then your Quality Score will soon rise and your bid prices drop.</p>
<li><strong>Last Thoughts On Ctr &#038; Quality Score</strong></li>
<p>All five measurements of ctr are important to the success of your AdWords campaign. And each can be improved by the changes you make.</p>
<p>The 2 most important things to remember when using ctr to improve Quality Score are:</p>
<p>+ Ctr is only part of the Quality Score equation. To improve, you&#8217;ll need to work on every part of the equation.</p>
<p>+ Google reviews performance over time. If your AdWords click through rate for any keyword or ad has been poor to date, then it may take a week or two for any changes you make to fully take effect.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When a potential buyer is attempting to find out whether he or she will buy a certain <strong>business operation</strong>, there are quite a few factors to carefully consider. When a prospect arises, besides the essential questions of suitability, location and longevity, the point of <strong>real-world business valuation</strong> should be the primary focus. When it comes time to begin negotiations, the seller will provide you with detailed financial documentation &#8211; and it is, of course, very much in their best interests to &#8220;paint the picture&#8221; of their business for sale in a rather luminous light. In such situations, the issue of &#8220;add backs&#8221; is probably going to represent one of the more difficult problems to deal with.</p>
<p>In a majority of cases, add backs are included to try and present the operation from a real world perspective. As a set of rigid principles must be adhered to when compiling traditional accounting reports, there may well be additional footnotes to consider and these can be either negative or positive depending on your perspective. It is very important when you buy a business to scrutinize each add back as they can often make a considerable difference to your valuation.</p>
<p>When conducting a process of due diligence, it can be a fairly straightforward procedure to check recorded sales and purchases against ledgers and against reconciled bank accounts. Very often however the outgoing owner will be keen to draw your attention to items which may be &#8220;one-off&#8221; or to additional income which may not necessarily appear on the books at all. You should be open to all suggestions of course but maintain a degree of skepticism at all times until you are able to validate the claims, or otherwise.</p>
<p>Remember that for an item to be claimed as &#8220;one time&#8221; it must not have appeared during preceding years. Seller could argue that a particular expense is much larger than it should be due to a particular incident or requirement, but if you see a pattern of any kind then the add back must be discounted.</p>
<p>One of the most common add backs, especially when the business can be owner operated, is to suggest the value of a manager&#8217;s salary. You need to establish that the outgoing owner was not actively involved in the operation of the business in this case and this figure is only of interest to you if you intend to assume the role of the redundant manager.</p>
<p>Add backs may not be asserted whenever they represent intangibles, such as the prospect of additional revenues due to a new marketing initiative that the outgoing owner has just put in place, for example. Nor should you believe an owner claim that you can reduce a certain category of expenses through renegotiation or other initiatives. After all, if the outgoing owner has not being able to do so to this point it seems reasonable to assume that an incoming &#8220;newbie&#8221; is likely to have even less ability to affect short-term change in this regard.</p>
<p>Be particularly wary when you are told that a business retains a lot of cash sales. You must essentially discount this notion from a strict valuation perspective, even though such a claim made, after review, may be seen as reasonable. If the owner has not entered the cash sales on the books, he or she will not have accounted for taxes correctly and it&#8217;s not fair for them to expect to receive a double benefit in this way, a net tax saving and enhanced <strong>business value</strong>.</p>
<p>When you have reviewed the complete list of business financials, treat each claim for add back on an individual case basis and never roll them into an inflated value. At this stage you must be particularly diligent to enable you to arrive at a real world price for this prospect.</p>

While searching for a missing part to my workout machine, I stumbled upon a Website that claimed to offer the elusive part for sale. The layout of this site was so confusing, I literally got dizzy trying to navigate through it. It would have been easier to find my way out of a giant kaleidoscope with binoculars on. After a few short minutes of this nightmare, I finally left the site for good.</p>
<p>Sadly, websites like this are all too common. Far too many times with the sites I visit, it is almost impossible to find my way around, or even tell what the site is actually about. In many cases I simply leave. This is obviously not the action want you want from your visitors.</p>
<p>Whenever you build a website, there are a few simple, but critical rules you must follow:</p>
<li><strong><em>Focus Your Visitor</em></strong></li>
<p>What is the purpose of your site? Is the purpose to sell a product or build your list? You must determine what the number one goal of your website is, then be sure to focus your visitors in that direction.</p>
<li><strong><em>Make Your Site User Friendly</em></strong></li>
<p>If you want to keep your visitors interested, don&#8217;t confuse them. Nature dictates that most people don&#8217;t have very long attention spans. You will be lucky if you have 20 seconds to get someone interested in staying on your site, before they decide to move along. If the content on your site is too difficult for people to read, they will just move on. So make it as user friendly as possible.</p>
<li><strong><em>Use A Simple Background</em></strong></li>
<p>You want people to focus on your content, not be distracted by your background. This is why you can almost never go wrong with a white background. If you must use a different color, make sure it is light and not filled with distracting graphics. Remember, your background should compliment your site, not be the star.</p>
<li><strong><em>Keep The Banners To A Minimum</em></strong></li>
<p>Nothing screams &#8220;unprofessional&#8221; like a site filled with a dozen banners, begging you to click on them. This is a huge reason a visitor will click away at the speed of light.</p>
<p>If you are trying to generate ad revenue, you should keep it to a maximum of three strategically placed banners on each page. Test which banners generate the most revenue and stick with those.</p>
<p>When your site turns someone off, you have no chance of benefiting in any shape or form from that visitor. However, by using these simple tips above, you will have a much better chance to get a sale, make a commission or add a new subscriber to your list.</p>

It can turn a business with slow or erratic sales into a busy bustling one, but only if you are prepared to spend some time and money setting up and managing your campaign.</p>
<p>Trade is vital for any business and in order to get trade, customers have to know that you exist.  A fast way of getting your company name out there and noticed is by using <strong><em>PPC</em></strong> on the search engines.  Basically the process is that you bid for keywords and key phrases associated with your products or services, so that when your ad is clicked, you will pay a fee to the search engine.  It is vital therefore, that you choose your <strong><em>keywords</em></strong> and <em><strong>key phrases</strong></em> carefully, so do some research before hand otherwise you could be throwing good money away for no return.  And that is what it is all about, getting a good return on what you are spending on <strong><em>advertising</em></strong>.</p>
<p>Setting up your <strong>PPC campaign</strong> begins with finding keywords and <em>key phrases</em> associated with your products or services.  This important research will tell you what people are typing in and looking for on the engines.  Do not choose very vague keywords or choose keywords and phrases which don&#8217;t really describe what you sell.  For example, if you sell luxury hand made socks, it would be inappropriate to use keywords and phrases including things like cheap socks as the potential customers who are looking for cheap socks are very unlikely to purchase luxury socks and you will have spent money on clicks for nothing.</p>
<p>Make sure you have good copy for your adverts and that your website is kept up to date and that the copy on it is keyword rich.  Your website must be easy to navigate and if you are selling online, easy to order from.  Make things as easy for potential customers as possible, it is well known that if ordering is difficult or awkward people will just leave and go else where.</p>
<p>Set a sensible advertising budget and stick to it.  You can usually set how much you wish to spend per day with the search engines and your adverts will be displayed until that sum has been spent.  Avoid a &#8216;bidding war&#8217; for keyword phrases, as this can deplete your budget very quickly. There are always others to go for.  Watch how much you are spending and compare this amount with the sales made.  This will also give you an idea of the <strong>return on investment</strong> or <em><strong>ROI</strong></em>, which is vital data for your budget management.</p>
<p>Make sure that your website works on all the popular browsers and that it is <strong>kept updated with news, blogs and articles</strong>.  Know your products or services so that you can push these towards potential customers.  Do not be afraid to terminate a campaign and set up another if it is not working for you.  Also, change the copy in your adverts regularly so you can find which approach works the best.  Spending time doing proper research and being flexible in your attitude to PPC will pay dividends and can really transform your business.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As I&#8217;m sure you know; when a visitor to your website signs up for your newsletter, buys a product or even fills out a form this is classed as a conversion. The reason you&#8217;re probably paying for traffic to your website is to increase your conversions.</p>
<h2>It&#8217;s important to track your conversions. But why?</h2>
<p>Let&#8217;s say you&#8217;re running a campaign to increase the number of subscribers to your weight loss newsletter. You might be paying $20 per day and getting 100 new subscribers per day &#8211; but how do you know these subscribers are coming from AdWords?</p>
<p>By tracking your conversions you can see where the visitor came from and therefore which campaign is performing at its best.</p>
<p>You can also make your campaign more efficient by removing keywords that don&#8217;t convert well &#8211; thus reducing your costs.</p>
<h2>So how do you track conversions in Google AdWords?</h2>
<p>It&#8217;s really quite simple. All you need to do is setup conversion tracking in AdWords and then copy-and-paste some code into your website.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s get started!</p>
<p>1) Login to your AdWords account</p>
<p>2) Select a campaign you want to setup conversions for</p>
<p>3) Under &#8220;Reporting&#8221; select &#8220;Conversions&#8221;</p>
<p>4) Select &#8220;+ New conversion&#8221;</p>
<p>5) Choose an action name e.g. &#8220;newsletter signup&#8221; and select a purpose for the conversion e.g. &#8220;signup&#8221;</p>
<p>6) Your security level for the page will probably be http unless you&#8217;re using a secure certificate (SSL)</p>
<p>7) Enter any revenue for the conversion. If it&#8217;s a newsletter signup it will probably be zero</p>
<p> <img src='http://1stebiz.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif' alt='8)' class='wp-smiley' /> You can also change the look of the tracking indicator. Under the terms of the AdWords conversion tracking you must tell the user of your website that you are tracking conversions</p>
<p>9) All you need to do now is copy-and-paste the code produced into the page on your website where the conversion is completed. Personally, I insert the code on the page where the user is taken to once they confirm their email address. That way I know their conversion is 100% complete.</p>
<p>There you go, that&#8217;s all there is to is! Now all the clicks that turn into conversions will be tracked on AdWords. This is especially useful for keywords effectiveness.</p>
<p>After a few days of running a campaign, view your keywords for the campaign and sort the keywords in order of clicks. Then look to see how many of those clicks turned into conversions. If there are some keywords that have high clicks but low or even zero conversions, remove them from your campaign. There just wasting you money!</p>
