Request – Hello friends and fellow street artists. ARENA here from Victoria, BC. I’m planning a massive collaboration by street artists from around the world. Were throwing a massive party at the end of November and want to cover the walls in street art. If I get too many posters then I will put them up on the streets of Victoria if that’s cool with the artist. So if you want your work to be a part of this, send me flikr mail and I’ll let you know where to send your work. Act fast, cus were looking to get this together by Nov 26, 09. I'll be posting photos of the finnished product.

Hi all,

we are glad to announce Street Art Photo Capture, our last App for iPhone & iPod Touch you can download for free.

This application will allow you to take pictures of urban art and share them with other users on the run. All pictures will be posted in the BeeLoop Street Art group in Flickr too.

The application has 3 main functions

GALLERY

Image gallery to browse the street art pictures sent by others users along the world, watch the pictures in deep, know where they are located in a map or send by mail.

MAP

Map with icons showing where the pictures are located. Pushing over an icon the picture will be shown in full screen. Users can select the map ratio or look for pictures next them.

UPLOAD PHOTO

Section where users can take picture of pieces of street art and share them with others users through the Flickr group BeeLoop - Street Art, where pictures are posted automatically and rest on a queue until accepted.

Users can also add a title, a description and several tags (comma separated) in order to help other Flickrs web users to find them.

Please note that pictures with the next items won’t be accepted in the group:

• Cartoon or Fantasy Violence
• Realistic Violence
• Sexual Content or Nudity
• Profanity or Crude Humor
• Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References
• Mature/Suggestive Themes
• Simulated Gambling
• Horror/Fear Themes

• Graphic sexual content and nudity

Billboard art competition - Call for submission - Art Moves Festival

Dear ALL

We are writing to invite you to take part in a billboard art competition.
The invitation is addressed to all the interested artists and students of
art schools. The participants are requested to prepare artworks which can
be displayed on a billboard in the form of a printed poster.
The artwork is supposed to be a creative response to this year’s
competition theme:
”Is Everything Interlinked?”. The entries can be sent by electronic
mail until 10 August, 2009 to the following address: artmoves@tlen.pl.
Find more information about the competition at: www.artmovesfestival.org.
The best 10 artworks selected by an international jury panel will be
exhibited in the urban space of the city of Torun, Poland as part of the
Art Moves Festival in October 2009. The author of the winning entry will
receive the main award in the amount of PLN 7,000 (approximately EUR 1,600).

The competition accompanies the Second Festival of Art on Billboards Art
Moves. The main idea behind the festival and the competition is to promote
modern art as the form of dialogue with the public and to encourage young
artists to create art engaged in the reality. The originators of the
Festival believe that art can be very important to contemporary man,
breaking people free from everyday routine and offering new clues to the
reality. The
actions undertaken during the Festival are intended to popularize art
outside
traditional art galleries and to humanize the urban space. They should also
facilitate the identification of people with the space they live in,
triggering a more
reflective approach towards the outer space and, at the same time, be an
alternative to the flashy, ever-present advertisements.
The following events are planned as part of the Festival:
- an international competition for young artists
- an international exhibition of large-size engaged art in the city space
- meeting of artists, art critics and sociologists in the Center of
Contemporary Art in Torun

The originator and organizer of the Festival is Rusz Gallery/ Rusz
Foundation which focuses on the creation and presentation of art in urban
space. The billboard art gallery founded in 1999 has been continuously
exhibiting its own artworks and the artworks of invited guests. It is
the oldest gallery
of this kind in the world, presenting art on the same billboard for over 10
years.

Rusz Gallery was awarded many times and the artists received numerous
scholarships and awards, participating in 30 exhibitions in Poland and
abroad.

We are kindly requesting you to disseminate the information about the
competition among art students, artists and all other people who might find
it interesting. If possible, we would appreciate if you can print off and
put up the attached poster inviting to participation in the competition. We
hope for as many entrants as possible. We would also be very grateful if you
could forward the information about the competition to the interested
individuals
or institutions.

Paste ups in winter?

Hi, I'm considering embarking on my first paste ups in Melbourne and wondering if it will be a waste of time trying to put them up in winter due to our 'lovely' cold and grey misty weather.

Obviously I will be doing them at night and will try and pick a night that will be followed by a sunny day, but this IS Melbourne!

So my question is will they dry OK, even if the weather is cloudy and cold?

Thanks for any advice!

European Parliament Elections Contest!

In a couple of weeks, we have European Parliament Elections.

I decided to run my own campaign.

Most of the regular election posters seen, don't say nothing about the person or the political party they want you to vote for... or who they work together with in the European Parliament.

For example: if you vote for the Dutch Cristian Democrats, you get the Italian party of Silvio Berlusconi for free.

Not the best of situations, in my opinion.

So here is the contest: I dare you to make your own European Parliament Elections poster campaign in your hometown.
Post photo's or links underneath this photo. I will choose the best, and the best will get a handpainted and signed Duck poster.

Rules:
1. you have to live in an European country that is part of the EU.
2. you have to make multiple campaign posters.
3. on your photo, I want to see some official election posters.
4. post your photo or a link to it, before the 4th of June underneath this photo.
