This article marks the end of this 3 years old blog (2012Spam.com). Though NEW topics won't be posted, this blog will continue to exist as a historical lesson for the new generations and as a reminder for all those who will again fear any new doomsday hoaxes in the future.

Many people lost their lives, some even committed suicide in fear of the world coming to an end on December 21st 2012, some gave up studying, quit their jobs and moved to safe places, some built bunkers and spent all their money preparing for the doomsday. People realized they just wasted their time and money when nothing happened.

Don't believe in anything you hear, see, watch, read or anything that just goes viral over the internet & TV, don't believe in anything without any strong evidence or statements from the government, scientists or the officials in your country. Live your life, let others live, follow your religion beliefs morals ethics and never panic again. Let peace, harmony, love and care take over the fears, hoaxes and spams like the 2012 Doomsday.

What happened on 21st December 2012?

Well just in theory, we humans (our generation) survived the end of the world. At least something we can brag about with our grandchildren when we get old. They can share stories like "Our grand parents really struggled to survive the end of the world hoax back in 2012".

When did the 2012 End of the world Hoax start?

It all started after some smart scientist figured out the Mayan Calendar ends on December 21st 2012. As days and months and years passed by, the Mayan Calendar theory wasn't that strong to create something the world could follow and fear about. Then came one theory and prediction after another surrounding the same date. Every new theories though never had any strong scientific or religious evidence. Every theory looked convincing in theory only in Books, on the Internet and Television.

But how did it get so Viral?

Blame it on Media, the Internet, Facebook, Twitter and doomsday book writers. Back in the old days, the Y2K could have been more viral if we had Facebook, Twitter, Youtube OR in simple words, if the Internet was so popular.

Should we blame the Mayans?

The Mayans did nothing wrong. They never wrote, documented, carved or mentioned anything on the rocks stating the world is coming to an end in December 21st 2012. Their calendar had to end someday anyways, people just over analyzed their calendar and started blaming the Mayans. They never predicted end of the world. If they could, they would all be working for NASA by now. We should blame it on Media, Internet, Social Networking sites and even Discovery, History and NatGeo channels for their documentaries on the Mayans and the end of the world conspiracy theories. Part of the blame goes to NASA as well for their articles and astrological assumptions which people misinterpreted and tried connecting with the non-existent Planet X (Nibiru), the solar flares theory and the Pole shift theory.

When did this Blog 2012Spam.com Start?

This blog started by early 2010 after watching the "2012 Movie" which became one of the greatest blockbusters of it's genre, and that's actually when the doomsday hype started getting more viral and people started assuming it's for real. It was just a movie.

What if someone predicts the end of the world again?

Just think about Y2K and this 2012 doomsday. Do not believe in anything similar like the 2012 Doomsday hoax in future. No one knows when the world will end, when the civilization will come to an end, when gods will arrive and just because some writers and movie makers tries to make it a business with some vague predictions don't mean you should follow it, fear it, spend your money in building bunkers, spend all your money, loose your life or your job.

Will this Blog continue to exist?

Yes, this blog (2012Spam.com) will exist forever as a lesson for years to come. No more new posts, videos and articles will be posted regarding 2012 or any other upcoming doomsday events but this blog (2012Spam.com) will exist as a lesson for our new generations, for our childrens, grand childrens and the future generations.

Though it is always a great idea to learn survival skills and to be prepared for disasters like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and tsunamis if you live in a area likelihood for any of these disasters. This blog has some great tips on surviving disasters and interesting topics that can be helpful for any disaster not just the end of the world (Anyways the world will never end !)

How will World end after 3 Days Blackout - Funny doomsday scenario

Who moved the End of the World? It was supposed to be on December 21st 2012. And now at the last hour, as per the internet and doomsday writers "The astronomical guru NASA predicted a blackout that starts from December 23 to December 25 2012." While NASA wrote on a blog post saying they are unaware of such objects passing nearby our Earth. Even Russian government told it's citizens that they are watching planetary movements closely and no threats exist as of now.

Anyways, Let's see how a blackout will end the world. The FUNNY doomsday scenario.

December 21st 2012:

Mayan Calendar ends. Oh No !, it marks the end of the world.

December 22nd 2012:

You will see 2 Suns rising from the East. Don't be confused ! One of those will be our Sun and the other Planet Nibiru which was hiding behind the Sun for this day to come. Seems like Nibiru (the 10th planet a.k.a Planet X) was just waiting for the Mayan calendar to end. Since it really ends in December 21st 2012, it's time to show up ! Planet X a.k.a Nibiru aligns itself between the Sun and the Earth. It takes 24 hrs for Nibiru to do so.

December 23rd 2012:

Planet X (Nibiru) revolves around to align perfectly between the Sun and the Earth. Hide and Seek game among three astronomical bodies (Earth, Sun and Planet X) starts. Perfect blackout, lights off, satellites turn off themselves, internet is down, it's really dark and a total blackout.

December 24th 2012:

Planet X decides to stay there longer, right in that position and the blackout continues. It knows how to align, stay there and how to make a complete blackout. Planet X is really smart than we think it is :-)

December 25th 2012:

Planet X decides to sit there for one more day doing nothing. It has to complete the 3 day cycle for no reasons. Complete blackout. Final day of Blackout.

End of day - December 25th 2012 (The World Ends):

Planet X gets really bored and then at the end of the day on December 25, it starts moving towards the Earth and hence finally collides with our planet. Then we will struggle to survive storms, magnetic pole shift, volcanoes, mountains melt down, earthquakes and you name it; all kind of disasters in a single day. People start running/evacuating, emergency suppliers run out of their business making huge lumps of profits, people in China, France Mexico to US go underground. The Mayans will probably organize a ceremony in memory of their ancients because they were genius and it's really happening. Kudos to Mayans ! End of the World.

December 26th 2012:

Only few survivors escape the doomsday. Earth is shifted somewhere else. Blackout goes away, planet X disappears and a brand new world. Start of a new civilization.

Starting December 27th 2012:

A brand new world. What will you really do now? Maybe start finding some stones to lit a fire, catch some fish, do some barbecue and survive !

For all the Intelligent people out there, it's going to be the same old Friday (December 21st 2012); go to school, college, arrive on time at your work or wake up late if you are retired (or don't have a job). It might be a sunny day, a gloomy day or extreme cold winter, depends on which part of the globe you call home. Things and Rumors like Planet X, Nibiru hiding behind the Sun, Blackout for 3 days on December 23-25 2012, Solar flares, Aliens, Planetary alignments, God visiting us and so on do not exist, these are just rumors/hoax. If anything was going to happen, we would have already felt some consequences to till this date. The sun will rise normally, Nibiru doesn't exist, there won't be blackout in December 2012, the day will be a normal day just like today.

Teenagers, stupid people and all the news and media believers call it End of the World as we know it. The day before the Doomsday which is Thursday; you won't sleep well, you will surf the net until midnight, you don't know whether you should finish up your homework for the next day school, you might be wondering whether you should call Friday December 21st a sick day leave, you might think of doing truck load groceries to fill your garage in case doomsday is real as if your house will remain intact after the disaster.

Human land on Moon Dec 21 2012

Some might take a vacation, trip to Canada reading stories that says 'The doomsday will melt down Canada and fill up Africa with snow capped mountains'. Some might go to China as the '2012 Movie' shows how human race already built a space ship for traveling to the space to survive the disaster. But wait a minute ! Where will you land your space ship? On Mars? On Moon? "Many mankind steps on the Moon this time not just one ... 1000s of human land on moon and too many giant steps for man kind ..." that would be a good headline on CNN the next morning. We will watch you guys on TV. By we, I mean the people i referred to on the 1st paragraph of this article post.

I have this blog where I post things i find on the internet, sometimes i write up my thoughts just like this article you are reading right now and trust me, i too at times when i watch the documentary videos from so called the intelligent Gurus a.k.a NASA, Discovery or the History channel, i too have a feeling that says 'What if world really ends in 2012?'. There is a post on this article on how a teenage girl suicides fearing the doomsday . She thought the world will actually end and she preferred to die before she would face it. Don't repeat that ! People are building up the End of the World hype for business, to make money because they didn't find any other topics to write on OR maybe they did not find any appealing novels to make movies and documentaries on. 2012 is definitely just another Y2K. It is just one year right before 2013. Period !

It's funny how serious Doomsday believers are preparing for End of the World. Norway as per the news, the country was already preparing for 2012 Doomsday few years back. They were building a bunker for top officials to survive the end of the world. As seen on TV, some people even built basements to survive severe earthquakes. Some are filling up their garage with emergency and safety tools and equipment. Some are buying truck loads of groceries and hiding them somewhere. Some countries must have space ships almost ready to fly into the space. Some must have moved or getting ready to evacuate to safe places like the Antarctica. Some must have built underground bunkers, caves, under ocean ships, air planes with huge fuel tanks for hovering around the sky until its safe to return back.

So let us go back to the scary part of Doomsday, December 21st 2012, the day the world will come to an end. Well its Friday ! Its a good day of the week for most of us doomsday non-believers. But for believers, it is a day to panic. Some say Planet Nibiru a.k.a Planet X will cross earth destroying our home, some say solar flares will burn the hell out of us, some say floods earthquakes tornadoes volcanoes will erupt, some say Jesus or God will arrive and take the good ones leaving the evil us to die here. And sssh!! some even say Aliens are visiting us on December 21st 2012 on their saucer shaped space ships and they might say hi hello wats up humans! then invade us, capture and kill us.

Anyways there must be some serious Doomsday writers, authors, scientists and believers out there who might be completing their books, finishing up their doomsday documentaries, movies and packing up to survive the doomsday. The scoop: Mike Brown is a professor of planetary astronomy at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and an expert dwarf planet hunter, accredited with discovering over 100 minor bodies in the Kuiper belt. Dr. Brown is also very well known for his part in the re-classification of Pluto.

In this very special IM Interview, Dr. Brown takes some time out with space producer Ian O'Neill to discuss killing Pluto, hate mail and whether there's a massive Planet X hiding near the Kuiper belt ready to strike Earth in 2012 (spoiler: Mike isn't part of a global conspiracy to hide Nibiru).

Ian O'Neill: Lol, sounds good!

Right, my first question has to be about Pluto. How much hate mail do you get since you killed the poor little dwarf planet?

Mike Brown: Well, if you filter out the hate mail from scientists associated with the New Horizons mission to Pluto, the total amount has dropped dramatically over the past few years. Most people are pretty much over it.

Ian O'Neill: Hehe, that's good! I've been writing about the non-existence of an Earth-killing Planet X for the last 2 years, and I still get hate mail because I say the thing doesn't exist!

Mike Brown: I sometimes get hate mail because people are convinced it does exists and I discovered it and therefore the destruction of the Earth is really all my fault. I only WISH I had that much power.

Ian O'Neill: Lol! That's an interesting twist! So you're not hiding the existence of Planet X then? ;) Or should I say "Nibiru".

Mike Brown: It's funny. I really do get many emails and even worried calls from people who are convinced that I know something and am not telling. It is very hard to convince someone who thinks that there is a conspiracy that you are not part of the conspiracy. I really, really wish there were a Planet X and that I had discovered it. That would have been serious fun.

Ian O'Neill: When you discovered Eris, did it cross your mind that it *might* have been the fabled Planet X?

I think some conspiracy theorists think these dwarf planets are bigger than they really are!

Mike Brown: It was clear, even in the first second of discovery, that this thing was big -- bigger than Pluto, even -- but it was also clear that it was not the Planet X of legend. In my mind, that always referred to a really planetary sized thing -- Earth size, Mars sized, even Jupiter sized -- that was hiding at the edge of the solar system. We knew Eris was big, but it was clearly not a beast like one of these!

If there really were a Planet X out there doing what Planet X was supposed to do -- that is, perturb the orbit of Neptune -- it really would have to be quite big. But now we know that the orbit of Neptune is really not being perturbed at any measurable level, so that originally motivation for a Planet X 150 years ago is gone.

Ian O'Neill: I think the favorite doomsday object is that Planet X is a brown dwarf (!!) lurking somewhere near the Kuiper belt. Wouldn't we have spotted something like that before now?

I think THAT would have played some serious planetary billiards with the Solar System by now -- those "perturbations" would be planetary U-turns!

Mike Brown: It is not impossible that the sun has a brown dwarf companion, but to be hidden from us it would have to be much, much further out than the Kuiper belt. Maybe like 100 times further. And at those distances its effects on the earth are pretty much zero.

There are very good limits to what you can hide at what distances in the solar system and not detect their gravity. You could put a Mars at a few hundred AU (10 times more distant than Neptune, say) and everything would be fine. You could put a Jupiter at a few thousand AU (1000 the distance of Neptune), and, again, you're safe. There might even be things out there that someday we might find. I certainly hope so!

Ian O'Neill: Wow! Those distances are pretty huge! If there was something of note out there, it would have to travel pretty quickly to make it to the inner solar system by Christmas 2012!

Mike Brown: Yeah, that's an interesting calculation. Let's see, 1000 AU in 2 years is...

...2400 km/sec. At that speed you would not be in orbit around the sun. You would not even be in orbit around the galaxy. You would have to have been shot at us from intergalactic space faster than any known object (cue spooky music).

Ian O'Neill: That's stupidly fast! That's faster than a hypervelocity star!

Mike Brown: Only by a factor of 100 though :)

Ian O'Neill: Okay, so I think we can safely forget about a massive, speedy Planet X paying us a visit from 1000 AU distant, but what about something hiding in the Kuiper belt? There are a lot of undiscovered bits of debris (or "blood splatter" as I recall you describing it in one of your presentations). Do you think you'll still turn up some sizeable bodies lurking amongst the splatter?

Mike Brown: I do think there are sizable bodies left to be found, as long as by "sizable" you mean "approximately the size of Eris or perhaps a bit bigger at best." That's what you meant, right?

Mike Brown: The reason I say this is that (1) We have looked at about half of the Kuiper belt by now, and the biggest thing we found is Eris. Second biggest is a little smaller (Pluto). Third is a little smaller still (Makemake). Fourth is just a little smaller still...

Ian O'Neill: Absolutely. I think a lot of the most crazed conspiracy theorists still think we are going to stumble across Jupiter 2.0 in the Kuiper belt.

Mike Brown: If in 1/2 of the Kuiper belt we find a very smooth distribution of sizes like this, then surveying the other half of the KB it is unlikely we're suddenly going to jump an order of magnitude in size.

(2) There was supposed to be a (2). But I forgot.

Yeah, so Jupiter 2.0 CAN'T live in the Kuiper belt. We've known that for decades simply from watching what the other planets are doing.

Ian O'Neill: I think we can safely say there's nothing too much bigger than Eris out there. Isn't that still smaller than our moon?

Mike Brown: For me, the fun thing to think about for "sizable" in the Kuiper belt is that fact that there was no equivalent to Clyde Tombaugh in the southern hemisphere. So it is not impossible that someday someone might find something as bright as Pluto moving in the south that could have been discovered 80 years ago but wasn't until now!

Mike Brown: Yeah, Eris is about half the size of the moon. Pretty pathetic, even I must admit.

Ian O'Neill: That's still impressive considering you managed to spot that little thing floating around -- must have been like looking for a needle in a haystack!

Mike Brown: As individuals, Eris and Pluto and all of the rest of them have only a trivial impact on our solar system. You could get rid of any of them (I have a vote which ones, too) and nothing much would change. That makes them very very very very different from the planets.

Yeah, a haystack that we searched through systematically for 8 years before we found it. I think I am now allergic to hay.

Ian O'Neill: Wow, you must be patient. It must be satisfying to actually find a dwarf planet. How many objects have you found now?

Mike Brown: As of now I am up to something like 100 objects in the Kuiper belt. There are people who are much much much more efficient at finding things though. They're going after faint ones, of which there are many. The ~100 that I've found are bascially the brightest 100 out there.

It's really very fun to come in to your office in the morning, search through data taken (automatically!) the night before, and know that today might be the day you discover something bigger than anything else discovered in 150 years.

Ian O'Neill: That's incredible. This is why I'm astonished by this whole "Pluto is a planet debate" -- the Solar System contains so many objects (and still growing), some re-classification is needed.

So you don't have to use one of those blinking light tables (blink micrometer?) to find dwarf planets any more?

Mike Brown: It was not a bad debate to have had, I think, as long as it made people sit up and look at the solar system fresh and say "wow, look at how Pluto really fits in HERE with the other Kuiper belt objects rather than HERE with the planets." Incredibly useful that way. But much of the continuation of the debate is driven by ignorance and emotion rather than an understanding of the solar system. Not all of it, mind you, but much of it.

It's true that I don't use the blink comparator anymore, but the idea is still exactly the same. Every one of those Kuiper belt objects I found I first identified by the fact that it was moving in images (blinking on my screen, rather than in the big clunky machine).

Ian O'Neill: I agree -- I think people actually know how many planets there are in the Solar System from this debate alone. No bad thing. But I do agree that much of the intense debate comes from emotion rather than logic.

Ah yes, "blink comparator", that was the name of it. Thank goodness the observations are taken automatically now.

Mike Brown: Emotion and ignorance. If you ask people to draw planets in the solar system and make them the correct relative size and then draw Pluto, most people will make it about the size of Mercury (which itself will be 1/3 the size of Jupiter). And I think that's because that's what we often see in popular images of the solar system. SOOOOO wrong. I wish I could take all of those images out there and at least make them correct.

It's fabulous that the images are taken automatically and that the first cut at finding moving things is done by computer. It means that even though I was collecting data most nights for 8 years, I still went home every night and slept in my bed. It's a much more civilized way to do astronomy, I must say.

Ian O'Neill: Ha, that sounds like my kind of astronomy too :)

Ian O'Neill: So, this Planet X/Nibiru thing... how do I know you're not a part of a grand conspiracy...?

Mike Brown: I don't get paid enough to be part of a conspiracy that big.

Ian O'Neill: Good answer! Best yet.

Another story roaring the internet this 2012 is 'How kali yuga (Kalyug) will end in December 21st 2012 as per the Holy Hindu books in Hinduism religion'. Do not panic ! 2012 is a Spam. Do you agree? Or are you so silly that you actually think the world will end in December 21st 2012? The internet is roaring with 2012 Doomsday hype. Some crazy people think 2012 is the end of the World. Is it true? Well, 2012 might not be the end of the world, it might be another Y2K but things stated about Lord Shiva in Hindu holy books is not false. Lord Shiva creates earth and everything we see and He will destroy on his will because he created whatever exists in this universe. But did Lord Shiva ever created us, this universe to destroy it? No, unless we human beings are unbearable.

In other words, if we continue to be cruel like animals, selfish, jealous, anger, wars, crime, terrorism THEN maybe someday God might say 'You broke my rules. Let me take back what i created the earth, the moon, the planets, the living beings and everything. Let me transform this world now from Kali Yuga (Kalyug) to Satya Yuga.' So do good and be good. Make god happy. Even if world ends, you will survive to Live if you do not break God's rules. Is December 21st 2012 the end of Kali Yuga (Kalyug)?

Long story short. Who created the Earth? Not the Mayans, it's not NASA , it's NOT the creator of all these doomsday theories. It is Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva, Jesus Christ, Gods of Muslim, Buddha or whatever you name it, there is only ONE God. All these names are just variations or different avatars of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is the Lord of the GODs, he is the creator and he is the destroyer. You cannot decide when Kali Yuga (Kalyug) ends, when satya yuga will begin and how earth will come to an end in Kali yuga (Kalyug). He will decide and you know whom i am talking about when i refer him to?

Now, how about the Mayans? Did the Mayan create Earth? No ! Did the Mayans knew when universe started? No !

In short, if Mayan knew how to predict the END OF THE WORLD in 2012, how come they did not predict other things? The Mayans struggled to survive. If they were good predictors, they would have ruled the world. NASA would have hired all the MAYANS to work for them :-)

Lord Shiva will destroy Earth and the Universe on his will. He created all of us and will take us back when time comes. He will not end the world in a day or two. He will instead transform this world into Satya Yuga in a slow pace. Lord Shiva can end this whole UNIVERSE in a millisecond, if he wants to OR if we break his rules, if we are cruel, if we act like animals, if we do crime, if we increase terrorism.

We are in Kali Yuga (Kalyug). The good ones will enter Satya Yuga and the bad evils us will be destroyed. Do good, Be good, Stay Happy, Enchant God's name whatever God you follow and forget 2012 doomsday, 2012 is JUST a NUMBER. There is no End, there is Kali yuga (Kalyug) but this is not the end of Kali Yuga (Kalyug).

Started this blog after i watched the movie '2012', came back home, started reading articles, news, videos, different books, theories, then thought of utilizing my spare time doing something, bought the domain and started posting my thoughts, whatever i can find about 2012 - The Doomsday. Since then, this blog is growing slowly and I enjoy reading your comments and thoughts.

We have posts that say doomsday is real, some posts that say 'Nah ! 2012 is false', documentaries that scares few of my visitors, some posts that talks about my own thoughts and some posts get written when i find something interesting. Here's my take on this fear - The fear of 2012 Doomsday - World coming to an end.

People have fear, fear of religion, fear of dying, financial fear, fear of poor grades, fear of competition, fear of public, fear of social image, fear of identity, fear of not being able to accomplish what they want, what they deserve, fear of time, fear of loosing and fear of world coming to an end. What will happen to me? What will happen to my life? How about my dreams? I was born to do something. Am i dying?

Here is my take on this 2012 Fear:

- 2012 might not be real. (I really don't know the fact , i am clueless after reading numerous books and theories). But when i read new versions of these doomsday theories, i think 2012 end of world is a total bullsh*t.

- I have a friend who has cancer. He might NOT live to see if 2012 is real or not. Does he even care? Nah ! for him, the world ends when his life ends. He is loosing his life. Forget 2012.

- I will drive to office tomorrow, i might have a horrible accident. I might loose everything. Do i even care about 2012?

- There are people, people who have financial burden, a total mess, they don't even know whether they can afford a dinner tonight. Do they even care about 2012? No, they don't even know blogs and theories like these exists.

- I receive emails every week, i get emails that read like this 'Can you tell me if the next biggest earthquake will hit Nepal?' , 'Do you have any information on if my country is safe for 2012?', 'Do you have any idea if it will really happen?' ... there are tons of emails like these. I really don't know. I am NOT a super man Neither am i one of those people who wrote those theories. I have this blog where i post my thoughts, information on doomsday and videos on 2012 , this blog is just a place where i jot down and where my visitors drop in their thoughts. No one knows what future holds for us.

- Be positive ! If world is ending, it is and if it's really ending, you are NOT the only one who will die, all of us will die. If world ends in 2012 and let's say, you finally struggled to find a safe place to hide and hence, survived the disaster. Now you are the ONLY survivor around. Our Earth has collapsed. But hey!, you survived the doomsday. Kudos ! Yay ! But remember the fact that you might die pretty soon anyways due to hunger, frequent climate changes, health, sickness because there will be no ONE to help you. You survived to die. So, if it's happening, it is. If it's not, good for us.

- Whether 2012 doomsday will be REAL or not, 2012 will be the year of self awareness, year of change, change in thoughts of people, change in your life, 2012 might be the year of human consciousness.

- I have a line which i often use 'Bad things go to trash'. Negative thoughts, negative fears, negative theories, negative assumptions all needs to be trashed, trash for good or trash for a recycle. Just do what you are here for, do what it takes to become what you deserve, build your knowledge, share your knowledge, help people, when you give don't expect to take, things will come your way because you gave (everything rotates in a cycle just like our Ecosystem), love like you never loved before, dance like you are not being watched, make everyday a beautiful day, start your day with a positive thought...

Think this way, 'I can handle any problems at any given situation', 'If i am broke, i will handle it', 'If my relationship isn't working, i will handle it', 'If i am divorced, i will handle it', 'If my children are on drugs, i will handle it', 'If I get into an accident, i will handle it', 'If i get betrayed, i will handle it', 'If i loose my job, i will handle it', 'If i have health issues, i will handle it', 'If 2012 is real, I will handle it', 'I will handle anything'....I was born to handle anything....

Isabel Taylor, 16, thought civilisation would end in 2012 after researching nuclear meltdowns and hangs herself to death. She was Silly and Insane. Schoolgirl Isabel Taylor, 16, turned to Buddhism after becoming fed up with the 'complications and injustice' of the modern world. But while searching for answers she began researching doomsday scenarios - becoming convinced a nuclear reactor meltdown would end civilization in the coming months. She had researched on the internet how to overdose but was found hanged in her bedroom by her mother.

Her parents Gary, 51, and Ingrid, 48 said Isabel had begun making flippant remarks that the world would end soon. Mr Taylor, a retired civil servant, said: 'We were aware of the 2012 issue. She would mention it around the dinner table. 'She would flippantly say "oh but it's all going to end next year anyway" and we would try and laugh it off. 'She believed something was going to happen that would change the world, I'm not sure whether she ever fully believed that it was going to end, but she definitely thought something was going to happen. She read articles on all different types of things which could make the world end, she read about 15 to 20 articles over the course of 2011 with her best friend. 'The most recent one she read was on sun spots and how if they went wrong it could cause a nuclear reaction.'

In France a tiny village named Bugarach has seen visits from doomsday devotees, claiming it will survive any apocalypse event. The inquest at Trowbridge Town Hall, Wiltshire, heard how Isabel was concerned about 'injustices' in the world and had converted to Buddhism in Spring 2011.

The committed vegan had just started studying animal science and management at Wiltshire College and was a passionate animal rights campaigner who ran a guinea pig sanctuary with a friend.

Her parents said: 'Isabel was a fully committed vegan and had very strong views on animal welfare especially animal testing, livestock and dairy farming. 'In the spring of 2011 she turned to the Buddhist faith and their teachings to search for answers because she could relate in their beliefs and principles.

'It would seem her belief in Buddhism and the possibility of another, better life was strong enough to persuade her that the time was right to move on to what comes next.'

The inquest heard how Mrs Taylor, found her daughter hanged in her room at their home at 3.15pm in September last year, after spending much of the night on the computer.

Mr Taylor added: 'We will never understand why she took her life and we will never fully come to terms with it.

'We miss her greatly , it was a tragic incident, she had such a promising career ahead of herself. The enormous shock of it remains with us and we will never fully come to terms with it. She managed to hide what was going on inside her mind because outwardly the happy, bubbly Isabel we knew and loved so well was what she portrayed to us until the end.'

Please Please Please do not try that again for all the doomsday readers. 2012 End of the world is just a scam or a spam to get people's attention. Look at how the 2012 Movie showed the world ended with earthquakes, storms and tsunamis. That was just a movie to make BIG money. The Mayans ? If they could predict end of the world, how come they can't predict any other disasters on earth ? If they were that smart and intelligent, they would have ruled the world. 2012 is just a hype, one theory after another. Even NASA sometimes predicts and talks about world ending in 2012. But if you go to NASA's website, there are again articles and videos that say 'No it's not the end of the world. We are safe !'.

It is not ONLY about 2012, anything can happen to you at any point in life, today tomorrow or a week from now. Personally, as a owner of this blog , I too think 2012 is a total bullshit. It's not real. There is no ONE single theory that is strong enough to provide the evidence that Earth will end. But i personally do think it is interesting and fun to read these theories but to COMMIT a SUICIDE based on these theories is a stupidity.

Think about your life, at least your loved ones and your family before even thinking about escaping this 2012 bullshit stories. Floodwater engorged by a 24-hour deluge of up to 10 inches crumbled roads and damaged homes and businesses in Duluth, Superior and surrounding areas on Wednesday and caused the drowning deaths of dozens of animals at the Lake Superior Zoo. Emergency crews rescued an 8-year-old boy who was swept five to six blocks through a culvert in Proctor on Wednesday afternoon. He had some cuts but was otherwise uninjured, St. Louis County Undersheriff Dave Phillips said.

Tom Crossmon, a captain with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Volunteer Rescue Squad, said the boy was amazingly lucky to have survived his five- to six-block journey through the culvert. Crossmon was en route to the scene in Proctor with a remotely operated underwater search device when the boy popped out the other end of the culvert.

Elsewhere Wednesday, the Rescue Squad was called to check submerged vehicles and used its airboat to rescue several stranded motorists, Crossmon said.

Half of Duluth’s Fond du Lac neighborhood and the town of Thompson were evacuated as the St. Louis River rose from above-normal dam discharges upstream. The dams were reported to not be in danger of failure, but Minnesota Power is releasing more water that may flood homes downstream. First United Methodist Church in Duluth — the “copper-top church” — and the Scanlon Community Center are being used as evacuation centers.

Rescue squad members helped evacuate Fond du Lac residents by boat throughout the day. Crossmon said the squad helped about 50 people to safety Wednesday.

Most residents in affected areas have heeded evacuation advisories, but some remain, he said.

Thomson residents have been asked not to use tap water for drinking, cooking or bathing because it may be contaminated.

Heavy rainfall and flash floods in Duluth left some roads under water and caused flooding, sinkholes, open manholes and mudslides, including along parts of Skyline Parkway and in the Hillside. Parts of Interstate 35 in Duluth and in Carlton County were closed. Jean Duluth Road just south of Zimmerman Road was closed because of a washout at the Lester River crossing, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said late Wednesday.

Some motorists were trapped in their vehicles, vehicles were stuck in sinkholes and some cars simply quit running because too much water got under the hood.

“We tried to get my wife to work at Wells Fargo but the power steering went out. There’s just too much water out there,’’ said Zach Eustice, who lives on Eight Street East in Duluth. “My guess is there won’t be too many people going to the bank today, anyhow.”

Chester Creek spilled over its banks and became a gushing torrent, spurring a mudslide that uprooted large trees near the old ski jumps. The entire Chester Bowl Park area was strewn with flooded picnic tables, and water rose toward the chalet.

Eighth Avenue East in Duluth turned into a raging stream, turning up large chunks of blacktop, blasting manhole covers and causing entire sections of sidewalk to buckle.

Many residents reported flooded basements.

Mayor Don Ness declared a state of emergency in the city of Duluth, citing “significant damage, debris and popped manholes.”

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton said he will visit Duluth today to assess the flood damage.

“This morning my thoughts are with our friends and neighbors in Duluth and the surrounding region, as they respond to major flooding,” Dayton said in a statement. “I have spoken to Duluth Mayor Don Ness and have offered all possible state assistance now and during the recovery.”

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office recommended no travel in the county except in emergencies because of flooded roadways. The most-affected areas are across northern parts of the county; Highway 210 through Jay Cooke State Park is closed. The iconic swinging bridge across the St. Louis River in Jay Cooke was yet another victim of Wednesday’s flooding, swept away by the river.

Among other developments:

The Miller Hill Mall, which was without electricity, was closed.

Duluth police were asking residents to stay home, traveling only in case of emergency. Calls to 911 should be for emergency purposes only, police stressed.

East Ninth Street, where it crosses Chester Creek and turns into East Eight Street, was closed while the bridge there was inspected for damage, police said. Eighth Street was a river with water rushing down from the Chester Creek Café at 19th Avenue toward the bridge. Chester Parkway was closed as sides of the road gave way.

Elevators at St. Luke’s hospital in Duluth were temporarily out of service when the basement flooded. Pumps that were coming from the state’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management division didn’t arrive in time, said Jo Ann Hoag, vice president of network development.

“We had our own pumps and we arranged for additional pumps,” Hoag said. The 6 inches of standing water was pumped out by mid-day, when the elevators were turned back on. No electrical problems accompanied the flooding, nor did any hospital unit close down.

“So far, that is it,” Hoag said about 2 p.m. “We’re taking care of patients. Open for business.”

The Superior Police Department reported many streets with water flowing over them or washed out.

The National Weather Service said the Flood River in Floodwood was over its banks and past flood stage and was starting to flood some homes there. The Weather Service also reported flooding in Grand Rapids, Nashwauk and Eveleth, with many city roads covered in water.

The Weather Service reported that the White Pine River overflowed its banks and flooded Minnesota Highway 33 north of Cloquet, forcing the road to be closed. There were reports of 2 to 3 feet of water over the roadway.

Authorities in Cloquet evacuated campers in Spafford Park along the banks of the rapidly rising St. Louis River, according to the Pine Journal.

Both the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District and city of Duluth experienced sewage overflows because of the massive amount of rainwater infiltrating the sanitary sewage system. While the systems’ new overflow tanks held during heavy rain in April and May, this record rainfall was simply too much, said Karen Anderson, WLSSD spokeswoman.

“We don’t even know the extent of it yet because it’s too dangerous to be out checking in some spots,’’ Anderson said.

The city cautioned residents against playing in standing water, which might be contaminated by sewage.

NASA 2012: Solar Flares NOT powerful to destroy Earth

Given a legitimate need to protect Earth from the most intense forms of space weather – great bursts of electromagnetic energy and particles that can sometimes stream from the sun – some people worry that a gigantic "killer solar flare" could hurl enough energy to destroy Earth. Citing the accurate fact that solar activity is currently ramping up in its standard 11-year cycle, there are those who believe that 2012 could be coincident with such a flare.

But this same solar cycle has occurred over millennia. Anyone over the age of 11 has already lived through such a solar maximum with no harm. In addition, the next solar maximum is predicted to occur in late 2013 or early 2014, not 2012.

This is not to say that space weather can't affect our planet. The explosive heat of a solar flare can't make it all the way to our globe, but electromagnetic radiation and energetic particles certainly can. Solar flares can temporarily alter the upper atmosphere creating disruptions with signal transmission from, say, a GPS satellite to Earth causing it to be off by many yards. Another phenomenon produced by the sun could be even more disruptive. Known as a coronal mass ejection (CME), these solar explosions propel bursts of particles and electromagnetic fluctuations into Earth's atmosphere. Those fluctuations could induce electric fluctuations at ground level that could blow out transformers in power grids. The CME's particles can also collide with crucial electronics onboard a satellite and disrupt its systems.

Most importantly, however, even the biggest solar flares are not powerful enough to physically destroy Earth.

In an increasingly technological world, where almost everyone relies on cell phones and GPS controls not just your in-car map system, but also airplane navigation and the extremely accurate clocks that govern financial transactions, space weather is a serious matter.

But it is a problem the same way hurricanes are a problem. One can protect oneself with advance information and proper precautions. During a hurricane watch, a homeowner can stay put . . . or he can seal up the house, turn off the electronics and get out of the way. Similarly, scientists at NASA and NOAA give warnings to electric companies, spacecraft operators, and airline pilots before a CME comes to Earth so that these groups can take proper precautions. Improving these predictive abilities the same way weather prediction has improved over the last few decades is one of the reasons NASA studies the sun and space weather. We can't ignore space weather, but we can take appropriate measures to protect ourselves.

And, even at their worst, the sun's flares are not physically capable of destroying Earth.

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck northern Italy early Sunday morning, destroying dozens of historical sites, some as old as 1,000 years. Even 24 hours after the initial quake, aftershocks continued to weaken many of the structures. Italian Instagrammers have been sharing photos of the quake’s aftermath.

SAN FELICE SUL PANARO, Italy, May 21 - Residents of some small northern Italian towns hit by Sunday's quake may have all survived, but the tremor that shook them to their foundations reduced their artistic and architectural riches to rubble.San Felice Sul Panaro was just one town where the quake inflicted severe wounds on centuries of heritage, memory and tradition, in some cases erasing them.

"A thousand years of art has turned to dust," was the headline in Monday's La Repubblica newspaper.

The damage done to Italy's artistic heritage was the greatest since a 1997 earthquake hit the central Umbria region and parts of the ceiling of the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi collapsed.

San Felice's three main churches were in ruins and the town's trademark Castle, La Rocca, was standing but wounded, perhaps fatally, by the 6.0 magnitude quake that hit Italy early on Sunday morning, killing seven people in other towns.

Aftershocks were continuing more than 24 hours later, further weakening the centuries-old cultural sites.

"It's indescribable. There's a lot of pain. La Rocca was our pride and joy," resident Manuela Monelli said as she cast a mournful eye over what was left of the castle.

"And to think that we had been told that this was not a seismic area," she said.

Started in 1332 by the Este family and enlarged in the following century, La Rocca housed a museum and was the town's main tourist draw.

Only one of the castle's four towers was left standing and a wide V-shaped crack in its brickwork suggested it too might fall.

"If it doesn't come down by itself they'll have to pull it down," Monelli said.

TOWN SYMBOLS CRUMBLES

"It is the symbol of our town," said mayor Alberto Silvestri. "We have practically lost all our artistic heritage. Churches and towers collapsed. The theatre is still standing but has cracks."

San Felice's Church of the Archpriest practically imploded and is now only half its previous height.

"We are thankful there were no casualties," said Simone Silvestri, a city council member, looking at the church surrounded by a sea of rubble.

Among the art works in the church, and presumably destroyed or severely damaged, was a triptych painted on wood by 16th century artist Bernardino Loschi depicting the Madonna, St Geminiano and St Felice.

Paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries used to adorn the sacristy.

Another strong symbol of the quake's destructive force was the 14th century clock tower in nearby Finale Emilia. The first quake at 4:04 a.m. (0204 GMT) on Sunday split the tower in half vertically as if it had been hit by a meat cleaver.

Only the left half of the clock, showing Roman numerals from seven to eleven, remained at first. Twelve hours later, a strong aftershock of magnitude 5.1 brought down the left half of the tower.

"Our historic memory has been wiped out," said town resident Elena Sergio.

Also in Finale Emilia, a section of San Carlo church collapsed. It contained a painting by 17th century artist Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, who was known as Il Guercino.

Despite the damage to churches, there was a sigh of relief throughout the area that the quake did not strike hours later, when the places of worship would have been full.

"Our school children were to receive their first communion here (Sunday morning)," said a priest in the nearby city of Mirandola, where the roof of the cathedral collapsed.

Things not worry about in 2012 - NASA on Doomsday Theories

There is a lot of hype going around about the end of the world and how it is almost here. With dozens of different theories being thrown around the public, no one is exactly sure which theory to believe or not.

According to the NASA website, everybody thought that the end of the world was May 2003, from a “planet heading towards Earth.” When this ended up not happening, the date was moved to December 2012. Many of the people that generally believe that the world will end then have not made any initiative to research such theories or even tried to find arguments that back up their view. It is tough to find proof that the world will end and that something unusual will happen on Dec. 21, 2012.

Most of the proof leads towards this because nothing will happen to the planet in 2012. NASA has confronted some of the popular theories and disapproved six of them.

Theory 1: One of the most famous is that the Mayan calendar ending on Dec. 21, 2012, give or take a day or two, will mean the world will end. However, the Mayan calendar is exactly what it states. It is a calendar for the Mayans. Instead of going by months and only being 365 days, the long-count Mayan calendar is 1,872,000 days, and resets to zero when it has ended.

“This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then, just as your calendar begins again on Jan. 1, another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar,” according to the NASA website. Just because another Mayan calendar is resetting, it does not show any evidence of the end of the world.

Theory 2: Another famous theory is that the Earth will go through a “polar shift,” which is where the Earth’s rotation reverses due to an extreme gravitational pull, causing continents and oceans to collide. This, however, is impossible.

According to NASA, “Many of the disaster websites pull a bait-and-shift to fool people. They claim a relationship between the rotation and the magnetic polarity of Earth, which does change irregularly, with a magnetic reversal taking place every 400,000 years on average. As far as we know, such a magnetic reversal does not cause any harm to life on Earth.”

Theory 3: Nibiru, formally known as Planet X, is yet another theory of doomsday. It is said that this planet or object in the universe is heading towards Earth, and will strike in December of 2012. This theory is strictly impossible, due to the fact that this “Planet X” does not exist.

According to NASA, “If Nibiru or Planet X were real and headed for an encounter with the Earth in 2012, astronomers would have been tracking it for at least the past decade, and it would be visible by now to the naked eye. Obviously, it does not exist.”

Scientists these days can look out into the universe and see out farther than any of us can imagine. If anything is coming, we will know it.

Theory 4: It is also said that a giant solar storm is to hit in December of 2012. Although this theory is actually true, the solar storm will not be any different than the ones in the past, which have not destroyed us.

According to NASA, “Solar activity has a regular cycle, with peaks approximately every 11 years. Near these activity peaks, solar flares can cause some interruption of satellite communications. But there is no special risk associated with 2012. The next solar maximum will occur in the 2012-2014 time frame and is predicted to be an average solar cycle, no different than previous cycles throughout history.”

In the early days of computers, when hard drives weighed as much as a piece of furniture, a popular phrase was "Garbage-in, Garbage-out" (GIGO). It meant that computers would unquestioningly process the most nonsensical of input data and produce nonsensical output.

"GIGO" describes the abysmal lack of intelligent thought and critical thinking on the Internet when it comes to all the hysteria about the end of the world coming on December 21st, 2012 -- just in time to ruin Christmas.

I'm getting e-mail about this weekly and I expect the nonsense to ratchet up. This latest installment in decades of flaky astronomical apocalypse predictions is loosely based on the Mayan calendar that marks the end of a 5,126-year era. Apparently the Mayans knew something about the heavens we don't, according to numerous hot-selling 2012 doomsday books on the market. Our multi-billion dollar telescopes, space probes, and 6,000 professional astronomers somehow just can't keep up with the mystic knowledge of an ancient superstitious culture.

With the much-ballyhooed release of the film "2012", end of world chatter has been the topic from backyard cookouts, to bars, to wine and cheese parties.

I am listing the 10 most popular 2012 end-of-world scenarios and providing a quickie reference guide to use in politely dismissing any friends, relatives, or in-laws whose brains have turned into a pile of GIGO mush after being suckered by the End of Days hype.

The ten top 2012 doomsday scenarios:

10. Changes in the Sun's magnetic field will lead to powerful flares.

So what else is new under the sun? The sun goes though a well-documented 11-year sunspot cycle that is driven by its magnetic field entangling, reforming and flipping polarity. Yes, the peak of the next cycle is in 2012 (or 2013), and some predictions suggest it might be 30 to 50 percent stronger than the last peak.

But experts say it will certainly not be the biggest peak ever recorded.

The bottom line is that no dragon's breath of flame will stretch across 100 million miles of space and blowtorch Earth. The largest solar flare recorded to date, on Nov. 4, 2003, spewed several billions of tons of plasma in Earth's direction. The flare's X-ray radiation that impacted our protective atmosphere had the equivalent radiation of 5,000 suns.

We're still here.

9. The Earth's magnetic field will reverse.

Don't hold you breath. The last field reversal happened nearly 800,000 years ago. Fred Flintstone and our other ancestor cavemen survived. Geological evidence shows that the field has reversed its orientation tens of thousands of times over Earth history. Yet there is no definitive evidence that a magnetic field reversal has ever caused any mass extinction due to increased cosmic ray influx.

8. The Earth's rotation axis will tip.

This isn't nearly as easy as tipping cows. Unlike Mars, which does go though wide excursions in it axial tilt, Earth's tilt is kept steady by the gravitational influence of the moon. An object the size of Mars would have to hit Earth to transfer enough momentum to knock us out of kilter. But Mars-sized protoplanets were kicked into interstellar space over 4 billion years ago. The solar system doesn't make "planets-gone-wild" anymore.

7. A grand alignment of Jupiter and Saturn will gravitationally perturb Earth.

For the past several decades there have been doomsday claims that the combined gravity from grand planetary alignments will cause geologic and meteorological upheavals on Earth.

None are scheduled for 2012.

In 1962 an extremely rare grand conjunction of the classical naked-eye planets drove astrologers crazy. The conjunction happened on Feb. 4-5 and was accompanied by a solar eclipse! The most infamous grand conjunction was in 1982 and popularized in a book called "The Jupiter Effect," which predicted earthquakes and massive tides. Life went on as usual both years. The moon has a vastly greater gravitational influence on Earth than Jupiter. It's called location, location, location! At a whopping distance of 400 million miles from Earth, Jupiter's tug is pretty wimpy.

6. The Sun will align with the galactic equator on the winter solstice.

So what? These are simply coordinates in the sky. It has no physical reality any more than the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue at Times Square influences the geology of Manhattan Island. This is greatly confused with the fact that the sun's position actually oscillates up and down as it orbits the galaxy, like a horse on a carousel.

We pass through the galactic plane every 35 to 40 million years. It's possible that an increased number of comets might be hurled towards the Earth because of gravitational interaction with the densest parts of our galaxy during this passage. But we are talking about the consequences spanning many thousands of years, not crashing down on our heads in any one specific year.

5. The black hole in the galactic center will affect us.

The Milky Way's black hole has no influence on the galactic disk. The black hole is three million solar masses. The Milky Way is several trillion solar masses when we add the tug of dark matter. Any gravitational influence of the black hole over the galaxy would be like the tail wagging the dog. The Milky Way's collision with the Andromeda galaxy will dump gas into the black hole and it will blaze as a quasar. But that's several billion years away.

4. An asteroid will smash into Earth.

A threatening near-Earth asteroid that's gotten the most press is the 900-foot wide Apophis. But its chances of collision have been downgraded to 1 in 250,000 at its next close approach in 2029. In theory, an uncharted asteroid or comet could come out of the blue tomorrow. But if we don't know about it today, the Mayans certainly didn't know about it 1,200 years ago. Earth-killer impacts are tens of millions of years apart. So there's no reason to be a doomsday clock-watcher.

3. The rogue planet Nibiru will swing by Earth.

There isn't such a planet any more than the planet Naboo from the Star Wars trilogy is real. Purported Internet pictures of the interloper are photographic lens flares or hoaxes. Don't believe every dot you see photographed in the sky.

2. Supernovae or hypernovae will irradiate Earth.

There are no stars that are so close to Earth that radiation from their supernova demise would seriously affect us. The nearest candidate, the red giant Betelgeuse, is predicted to explode in the next 1,000 years. The monster star Eta Carinae is also on a short fuse. Neither doomed star has a spin axis precisely aimed at Earth, so we don't have to worry about being fried by a narrow beam of gamma rays ejected from the core's implosion. In fact the kinds of stars that shoot out these Death Star beams are uncommon in the Milky Way. Earth has a one percent chance of getting zapped over 10 billion years. Scratch gamma ray bursts off of your homeowner's insurance policy.

1. A cloud of negative energy engulfs the solar system.

Wow! A dark cloud with a bad attitude! This sound suspiciously like a Star Trek episode. Dark energy is all around us already, but it is not packaged into clouds. The same goes for dark matter.

Geologists say a fault in central Arkansas where hundreds of earthquakes have been recorded in recent months is longer and potentially more destructive than initially believed.

Scientists had thought the fault is 3.7 miles long. Now they estimate it to be 6 to 7.5 miles long.

Arkansas Geological Survey geohazard supervisor Scott Ausbrooks told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the length is a concern because a longer fault could trigger bigger earthquakes.

More than 800 earthquakes have been recorded in the area in the past six months — including a 4.7 magnitude quake on Feb. 27 that was the largest earthquake recorded in Arkansas in 35 years.

Injection wells used by companies drilling for natural gas and thought to be connected to the quakes have been temporarily shut down.

Ron Paul is gaining popularity day by day and needs support. He might not win but I do think he will be in the race until the end because of his loyal supporters and fund-raising prowess. Ron Paul is the man true of his words unlike others who say something and do something else (Eg: Obama first words of hope to bring the troops home, later he said he would bring them back in 16 months yet hundreds of thousands of troops are still across the border lines). Thousands of times every day, drilling deep underground causes the earth to tremble. But don’t blame the surprise flurry of earthquakes in Oklahoma on man’s thirst for oil and gas, experts say. The magnitude-5.6 quake that rocked Oklahoma three miles underground had the power of 3,800 tons of TNT, which is nearly 2,000 times stronger than the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

The typical energy released in tremors triggered by fracking, “is the equivalent to a gallon of milk falling off the kitchen counter,” said Stanford University geophysicist Mark Zoback.

In Oklahoma, home to 185,000 drilling wells and hundreds of injection wells, the question of man-made seismic activity comes up quickly. But so far, federal, state and academic experts say readings show that the Oklahoma quakes were natural, following the lines of a long-known fault.

“There’s a fault there,” said U.S. Geological Survey seismologist Paul Earle. “You can have an earthquake that size anywhere east of the Rockies. You don’t need a huge fault to produce an earthquake that big. It’s uncommon, but not unexpected.”

But there’s a reason people ask if the quakes are man-made rather than from the shifting of the Earth’s crusts. If it's not man made, is it 2012 ???

In the past, earthquakes have been linked to energy exploration and production, including from injections of enormous amounts of drilling wastewater or injections of water for geothermal power, experts said. Citing the conclusion of a lengthy cycle in the ancient Mayan calendar, certain theorists anticipate the end of life as we know it on December 21, 2012.

In Hinduism, there is the story of the god Vishnu coming back in the last cycle of time as a figure called Kulki, who rides a white horse, carries a sword that looks like a comet and destroys the forces of evil. In some Buddhist prophecies, the equivalent of Armageddon is Shambhala, in which good triumphs over evil; however, the planet is restored rather than destroyed so people can pursue enlightenment.

It now seems that our entire universe is living on borrowed time. Time is flying by on this busy, crowded planet... as life changes and evolves from second to second. And yet the arc of human lifespan is getting longer: 65 years is the global average ... way up from just 20 in the Stone Age. Read the full footage and story...

Modern science, however, provides a humbling perspective. Our lives... indeed the life span of the human species... is just a blip compared to the age of the universe, at 13.7 billion years and counting. It now seems that our entire universe is living on borrowed time... And that even it may be just a blip within the grand sweep of deep time. Scholars debate whether time is a property of the universe... or a human invention.

What's certain is that we use the ticking of all kinds of clocks... from the decay of radioactive elements to the oscillation of light beams... to chart and measure a changing universe... to understand how it works and what drives it. Our own major reference for the passage of time is the 24-hour day... the time it takes the Earth to rotate once. Well, it's actually 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.1 seconds... approximately... if you're judging by the stars, not the sun. Earth acquired its spin during its birth, from the bombardment of rocks and dust that formed it. But it's gradually losing that rotation to drag from the moon's gravity. That's why, in the time of the dinosaurs, a year was 370 days... and why we have to add a leap second to our clocks about every 18 months.

In a few hundred million years, we'll gain a whole hour. The day-night cycle is so reliable that it has come to regulate our internal chemistry. The fading rays of the sun, picked up by the retinas in our eyes, set our so-called "circadian rhythms" in motion. That's when our brains begin to secrete melatonin, a hormone that tells our bodies to get ready for sleep. The Mayan Predictions

The Pacific Oceans Ring of Fire has become quite active. Small underwater eruptions, and larger, unexpected activity of volcanoes on many of the island nations, including the Philippines, have scientists scrambling to provide answers.

Earthquakes

Many areas are prone to earthquake activity. The interesting part of 2012 Doomsday predictions is that they include global earthquake activity. In the past few years, earthquakes have occurred in regions that were considered earthquake free zones. New fault lines are being discovered and old ones are changing. While the magnitude of recent earthquakes has not been much higher than usual, the aftermath of unexpected quakes has proven to be difficult. The Chilean 8.8 magnitude earthquake on February 27, 2010 moved an entire city ten feet and shortened an earth day by a few milliseconds. Now more than ever before, being prepared and taking the necessary steps to provide for yourself and family during and after an earthquake is important.

Famine and Plague

With extreme weather comes poor harvests and the potential for outbreaks of deadly diseases such as cholera and typhoid. Genetic modification of food crops has also been proven to allow genetic mutations of some insects allowing them to be less susceptible to poisons. Drought causes more difficulties as poor land management and over farming allows precious topsoil to be blown away the wind whips across rain-starved ground. Fire becomes another factor in the famine equation. As forests, fields and prairies dry up lightening and accidental ignition of the dry grasses cause wildfires. The smoke from these fires rises up into the atmosphere. When smoke accumulates in the atmosphere it causes the warming power of the sun to be bounced back into space. This can cause cooling in areas that are not used to such temperatures. These types of disturbances allow crop and human diseases to emerge and crop failures that lead to famine in areas that were once rich food crop regions.

No one can say for certain if the 2012 doomsday predictions will come to pass. Some believe that the predictions signal a change in the earth's surface while others believe it will be the end of human civilization. Preparing for the worst, while hoping for the best, is a good alternative to doing nothing to help ensure your survival during any type of emergency.

Good News! Well, not for us but maybe for our next generations. 2012 is near and some of us think that Earth will end. Most of us assume that our Earth is unique and we wont die. But wait, think again. There are planet like Earth everywhere. We are so tiny like ants in this universe that we can't see the outer world. Astronomers have announced they have discovered an earth like planet that could support the crucial conditions needed for life to exist. The new planet sits directly in the middle of what is referred to as the habitable or Goldilocks zone (Gliese 581 g), unlike any of the nearly 500 other planets astronomers have found outside Earth's solar system. It also is in Earth's galactic neighbourhood, suggesting that plenty of Earth-like planets circle other stars. Astronomers say the planet is neither too far from its star, not too close and could contain liquid water.

Butler says astronomers have identified about 400 planets in the past 15 years. He explains he and fellow planet hunters observed the faint red dwarf star Gliese 581 using one of the world's biggest telescopes at the W.M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii. Since they started observing this star 11 years ago, they have identified six planets that orbit around Gliese 581. But only planet G is the right distance from its star, in that so-called "Goldilocks zone." "The truly exciting thing about this discovery is that the star is so nearby, and we found it relatively quickly in the scheme of things," says Butler. "So this suggests that potentially habitable planets are very, very common." "So nearby" is a relative phrase. This new planet is about 193 trillion kilometers away. And "potentially habitable" means the planet could potentially sustain life, but not necessarily life as we know it.

This newly discovered planet has a mass about three-to-four times that of Earth. And it is locked into position with its star, so one side is always in dark and one side always in light. And, as far as orbits go, Gliese 581G's 37-day orbit around its star is far shorter than the 365 days it takes our planet to orbit the Sun. "When you listen to that you think, 'Wow! That must be way too close to the star for there to be life because that is a short orbit. So this is shorter than the orbit of Mercury around our own Sun. It must be terribly hot.' Actually, that is not the case," says Doug Hudgins of NASA's exoplanet exploration program. He says Gliese 581 is a red dwarf star that is much cooler than our Sun and emits far less radiation.

New Earth Like Planet Called Zarmina with Life

WASHINGTON — Astronomers say they have for the first time spotted a planet beyond our own in what is sometimes called the Goldilocks zone for life: Not too hot, not too cold. Juuuust right. Not too far from its star, not too close. So it could contain liquid water. The planet itself is neither too big nor too small for the proper surface, gravity and atmosphere. It's just right. Just like Earth. "This really is the first Goldilocks planet," said co-discoverer R. Paul Butler of the Carnegie Institution of Washington. The new planet sits smack in the middle of what astronomers refer to as the habitable zone, unlike any of the nearly 500 other planets astronomers have found outside our solar system.

And it is in our galactic neighborhood, suggesting that plenty of Earth-like planets circle other stars. Finding a planet that could potentially support life is a major step toward answering the timeless question: Are we alone? Scientists have jumped the gun before on proclaiming that planets outside our solar system were habitable only to have them turn out to be not quite so conducive to life. But this one is so clearly in the right zone that five outside astronomers told The Associated Press it seems to be the real thing.

"This is the first one I'm truly excited about," said Penn State University's Jim Kasting. He said this planet is a "pretty prime candidate" for harboring life. Life on other planets doesn't mean E.T. Even a simple single-cell bacteria or the equivalent of shower mold would shake perceptions about the uniqueness of life on Earth. But there are still many unanswered questions about this strange planet. It is about three times the mass of Earth, slightly larger in width and much closer to its star — 14 million miles away versus 93 million. It's so close to its version of the sun that it orbits every 37 days. And it doesn't rotate much, so one side is almost always bright, the other dark.

Temperatures can be as hot as 160 degrees or as frigid as 25 degrees below zero, but in between — in the land of constant sunrise — it would be "shirt-sleeve weather," said co-discoverer Steven Vogt of the University of California at Santa Cruz. It's unknown whether water actually exists on the planet, and what kind of atmosphere it has. But because conditions are ideal for liquid water, and because there always seems to be life on Earth where there is water, Vogt believes "that chances for life on this planet are 100 percent." The astronomers' findings are being published in Astrophysical Journal and were announced by the National Science Foundation on Wednesday.

The planet circles a star called Gliese 581. It's about 120 trillion miles away, so it would take several generations for a spaceship to get there. It may seem like a long distance, but in the scheme of the vast universe, this planet is "like right in our face, right next door to us," Vogt said in an interview. That close proximity and the way it was found so early in astronomers' search for habitable planets hints to scientists that planets like Earth are probably not that rare. Vogt and Butler ran some calculations, with giant fudge factors built in, and figured that as much as one out of five to 10 stars in the universe have planets that are Earth-sized and in the habitable zone.

"It's not a very interesting name and it's a beautiful planet," Vogt said. Unofficially, he's named it after his wife: "I call it Zarmina's World." The star Gliese 581 is a dwarf, about one-third the strength of our sun. Because of that, it can't be seen without a telescope from Earth, although it is in the Libra constellation, Vogt said. But if you were standing on this new planet, you could easily see our sun, Butler said. The low-energy dwarf star will live on for billions of years, much longer than our sun, he said. And that just increases the likelihood of life developing on the planet, the discoverers said.

"It's pretty hard to stop life once you give it the right conditions," Vogt said.

Zecharia Sitchin, who writes fiction about the ancient Mesopotamian civilization of Sumer, claimed in several books (e.g., The Twelfth Planet, published in 1976) that he has found and translated Sumerian documents that identify the planet Nibiru, orbiting the Sun every 3600 years. These Sumerian fables include stories of “ancient astronauts” visiting Earth from a civilization of aliens called the Anunnaki.
Then Nancy Lieder, a self-declared psychic who claims she is channeling aliens, wrote on her website Zetatalk that the inhabitants of a fictional planet around the star Zeta Reticuli warned her that the Earth was in danger from Planet X or Nibiru. Only recently have these two fables been linked to the end of the Mayan long-count at the winter solstice in 2012 – hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

A reversal in the rotation of Earth is impossible. It has never happened and never will. There are slow movements of the continents (for example Antarctica was near the equator hundreds of millions of years ago), but that is irrelevant to claims of reversal of the rotational poles. However, many of the disaster websites pull a bait-and-shift to fool people. They claim a relationship between the rotation and the magnetic polarity of Earth, which does change irregularly with a magnetic reversal taking place every 400,000 years on average.

As far as we know, such a magnetic reversal doesn’t cause any harm to life on Earth. A magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next few millennia, anyway. But they falsely claim that a magnetic reversal is coming soon (in 2012) and that this is the same as, or will trigger, a reversal of rotational poles.
