One of the amazing things about 20sb is that we have such a diverse group of bloggers. So we want to take some time to celebrate this, and give one another a peek into the lives and worlds of our awesome members. And what better way than a Vlog Day!

Vlog Day is one day on which everyone posts a video blog entry on their own blogs (or YouTube/Vimeo channels), all on the same topic. The topic for this Vlog Day is a fun one:

Give us a Tour!

We want the inside scoop on your world. It could be a tour of your desk, your room, your neighborhood, your city–or even a tour of your typical daily routine! Maybe you guide us through the places where a big life event happened–where you met your best friend, your first date, or whatever! Be creative and have fun!

How to Participate:

• Create a video tour of whatever you’d like! (Some general vlogging tips: most vlogs are between 3-6 minutes)
• Post your video on your blog on Tuesday, May 1st!
• Include this before or after your post:
  This video post is a part of 20SB’s Vlog Day, join us on this Tour de 20SB! Anyone can participate! Details found here.
• We’ll also have a lovely badge you can put on your blog as well! Check back later in the week to pick that up.
• Post the link to your video in the comments on this post. We’ll compile them all. If you tweet your post, be sure to include #20SBvlogday so others can find your links!

When I moved away to Anchorage and married my husband I started a blog as a way to keep my family and friends updated on my life. I quickly learned that I didn’t have a lot to say. There were only so many posts I could write about my daily routine. Work, couch, eat, sleep. Reading over my first dozen or so posts was a wake-up call. I’m boring. (I have since edited/deleted said posts.) Either I needed to get out and do things worth blogging about or I needed to find something interesting in my boring life.

My first instinct was to get out and do things. But the freezing temperatures and snow in Alaska was too intense to brave. Instead I learned how to appreciate my life. I put a spotlight on the things I took for granted. I took pictures of a lunar eclipse and wrote about the hilarity of standing on my icy balcony in my pajamas trying to find the moon. I posted about a trip through the carwash…actually, I get excited about carwashes so I probably posted every time we went through one.  Anytime I tried something new, big or small, it went into a blog post. Most of my posts weren’t long since I didn’t have a lot of time or energy for it back then. But not every blog post needed to be a huge production since everyday life usually isn’t a huge production. Nowadays I have more time to dedicate to my blog so I try to put in a little more meat and potatoes.

My blog has also forced me to carry some sort of camera on me at all times. There are always new and interesting things happening that should be documented; if not for my blog, then for my personal memories. Reading text gets a little monotonous and tedious so I like to add in picture illustrations as often as possible. I try my best to avoid using stock photos or internet images, just my preference for my blog. When my husband and I moved to Italy, I started posting a lot of amazing pictures. I like a good caption so I also started making sure to note what I was photographing and did research before posting. I don’t go too in depth, just enough to give my readers enough information to appreciate what they’re seeing. If they’re intrigued they can always look into it more or add it to their travel wish list.

Finally, blogging has allowed me to network with people all over the world. I love reading other blogs and hearing from fellow bloggers. I have new people to sympathize, celebrate, laugh, and cry with. I read different points of view and get inspiration daily; it’s a whole new education of sorts. I’m constantly expanding my reading list and meeting new people. My little world is always growing and I have blogging to thank for that. Hope to see you out there!

Dear 20SB Community,

I’d like to announce the departure of 20SB’s co-chief administrator, Derek Shanahan. I am so grateful to have been partners with Derek for the past four years, and I appreciate all his help and the dedication Derek has had to the community from the very beginning. 20SB wouldn’t be what it is today without him. He will remain involved with the community in an advisory position. I wish him the absolute best as he refocuses his priorities on his current projects.

With that, I would also like to introduce you to 20SB’s new Executive Board. This board consists of myself, Lacey, Renee, Jenn B, and Erini.The five of us, along with our incredibly committed admin team, will oversee the running of the community and make sure all the behind-the-scenes tasks are taken care of. We hope this leadership transition is smooth but we’re also always glad to get your feedback!

Please join me in giving our fondest farewell to Derek and our warmest welcome to the new crew!

Blogs are sort of like drugs, you know? Once you try your first one you can’t stop. You just need more, and more, and more until you find yourself in the back alley giving your first blow job to help you find your next fix. And then you die, most likely, in a drug bust gone bad because that person you gave your first blow job too? Yeah, totally a cop.

This isn’t my first blog and I’m pretty sure it’s this blog that will lead me in that back alley giving an undercover cop a blow-y and I’m OK with that.

In my experience, I found blogging about life is the easiest thing because you live it everyday and when you are lazy like me it makes it easy. That’s why I find myself blogging about life with my asshole dog who thinks it’s his right to be an overly emotional suck bag and my Fiance who thinks it’s his right in life to be an overly emotional suck bag when the ever the dog starts being a baby.

This is what my blog is about — my life.
