Do Small Things . . .

With Great Love. I love that sentiment! It speaks so true to life. Last weekend I had the pleasure to get to meet up with my friend Chao. We had a craft night at her house. I always have trouble deciding what to take to a small crop activity. So I decided I would take my Cricut Mini, Gypsy, and Giant Flowers cartridge handbook. Normally, I would not bother taking the handbook but in the case of this cartridge, it is necessary. The handbook has the assembly directions and quantities need to assemble each flower.
Today I am sharing this project not only with my readers but the readers at the Pink By Design Blog. If you have not stopped by the blog- DO IT! There are daily posts with lots of variety and inspiration!

I started by making this "stand". This cut is actually from Sweet Treats and is cut 5.83 inches. It is the favor holder, turned upside down. I also cut his tag and its matching layer at 2.42 inches from Art Philosophy. The paper is from Webster Pages.

Next I layered lace around the edge of the box. I secured the lace with hot glue. I then added the tag with pink burlap twine. and crinkle ribbon.

Finally I added the peony on top. The peony was cut at 5.0 inches. All the petals were shaped and inked. I added some leaf cuts from Flower Shoppe. The leaves are cut at 4.12, 4.75 and 5.0 inches. All the leaves have been shaped and inked.

I thought this would be a nice gift for a friend. Or it could be used as a place setting or centerpiece for a shower or luncheon.

Kid Friendly Valentine Card

I love crafting with my kids. Although I personally love crafting in a more complicated or detailed manner, I find it very enjoyable to break it all down to the basics and make simple cards with the boys. Today I am sharing this simple card with not only my readers but the readers at She's A Sassy Lady.

What makes this card so easy is the ability to have it put together quickly. I had all the paper pre-cut for a 4 by 4 card. My matting was cut to 3.75 by 3.75 and the patterned paper is cut at 3.5 by 3.5, This paper is from Jillibean Soup. The "LOVE" and it heart layers were cut at 2.50 inches with Cricut Home Accents (real size off). We pop dotted the heart. These were made for Alexander's teachers and para.

Happy Love Day Card and Video

Today I am sharing with you a card I made using Echo Park "Yours Truly". I get so excited whenever they release a new collection- they never disappoint.

This card is a pretty easy A2. I started by folding my card base and all the matting. The cut you see here in this picture is from Art Philosophy. It is a ribbon slide cut at 2.75 inches. At this size you can feed 1 inch ribbon through the slots. The grosgrain I used is 3/4 inch.

Next I fed my ribbon through the slots and mounted it to one of the mats. I wrapped the edges of the ribbon to the back.

Then I assembled the rest of the base of the card.

Now for the cool technique I used for the sentiment on this card. You will need sentiment stamps (I love Pink By Design), Embossing Ink, Embossing Powder, a stamp block, a large flat button, a heat gun, and the magic tool . . . A powder stamp pouch.

You will want to start by dusting the button with powder from a stamp pouch. Then mount your stamp and apply embossing ink to the stamp. Gently push the stamp onto the powdered button. Apply embossing powder and heat. It's pretty cool. I made a video to show you how to do this technique.

I Heart You

I am really enjoying playing my new papers I bought last weekend. This card is made with the Pebbles "With Love" collection, just like yesterday's card.

This card is 5 by 5. I am really digging square cards lately. I stated by cutting my matting to fit my card base. I also stamped this sentiment from Love Always from Pink By Design stamps.

Next I tied some hemp like twine to the top of the card. I knotted a button to finish it off.

The cut I used is from Love Struck Cricut Cartridge. I had the hardest time getting this to cut correctly at 3.5 inches. That is the smallest I would try going with this particular shape.

Finally I mounted the heart to the card.

Printed Kraft paper is a serious weekness of mine. I hope you liked today's project. Have a creative day!

Cupid Card- Quick and Easy

I decided to lift my spending ban this past weekend to replenish my Valentine's Day papers. I found this paper at Archivers. It is from Pebbles "With Love" collection. I have never bought their paper before, but I have to say I am seriously impressed. It has a nice weight and the prints in this collection are to die for. This card is 4 by 4. I love how simple and easy it is. I am sharing this project not only with my readers but the readers at the Bug Bytes.

I started by making my mats at 3.75 and 3.5 inches. I then took the strip off the bottom of the paper where the SKU and product names are. Isn't this XOXO strip too cute?! I crinkled it up and then used my sewing machine on a zig zag to stitch it down.

Next I cut this adorable cupid and its layers at 3.0 inches (real size off) from Sweetheart Cricut Cartridge. I then used pop dots to raise him up and placed him on the card.

My final step was to mount my matting to my 4 by 4 kraft card base. See I told you quick and easy.

I will be back tomorrow with a project for Pink By Design.

Always and Forever Candy Box : Love Is In The Air Blog Hop

I simply adore Target's dollar section. My target had these fabulous $1 boxes last week. The options are endless! Welcome to Love is in the Air Blog Hop.

This is how it started. Plain and simple.

I started by layering my ribbon and lace. The lace is from Hobby Lobby and the ribbon is from Joann. I used Terrificall Tacky Tape to secire the two layers together.

My next step was to apply my ribbon to the box.

Once I had the ribbon on the box, I used some gliitered ribbon to hand pleat.

Next I applied a layered cut from Love Struck Cricut cartridge at 4.76 inches.

Then I cut this banner form Heritage at 1.94 inches. I inked with white chalk ink and then stamped this sentiment from Pink By Design Here Comes The Bride Set.

I then folded the edges and hot glued the banner to the box with some rhinestones.

Olive You Layout

One of my "Goals" this year is to do more layouts. I am super proud of this one. I even did some journaling (I don't like my handwriting so it makes me nervous). All the paper is from My Mind's Eye Oh La La collection. I love this collection. It is masculine yet sophisticated. All the cuts were inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I added lots of details so let's get started.

First I used a 12 by 12 sheet for my base of the layout. Then I added this half cut of a top note shape from Art Philosophy. To save on paper, I always hang these large images off the edge of my mat in either Gypsy or CCR. It is cut at 11.47 inches.

Next I started on the tab shape this is also from Art Philosophy. It is cut at 6.72 inches. I also cut a ribbon slide at 1.59 inches. I slid layered ribbon through the slots. Awhile back I made a video on how I layer ribbon. So I will add it here for those who may have not seen it.

It's a great way to use scraps and create dimension with trims and ribbons.

Next I added this half scallop cut at 3.12 inches to my tab cut and then added the pictures. I created this photo strip in Photobucket. I also used a little creative editing to change the color of the picture to look more retro.

Next I mounted my tab shape to the layout and used pop dots to raise it up. I also create this border from Art Philosophy at .93 inches by welding two borders together.

I then created this Olive shape by altering some cuts from the Cricut cartridge "From My Kitchen". I could not find an olive on any of my cartridges, so I did a little playing on the Gypsy and finally got what I think is a great looking olive. I used the new stamp set from Pink By Design called Plum Perfect for the "Olive You". I gave my stamp a slight curve to give shape to the stamped image.

Finally I added my olive to the layout and few strips of pom pom trim to the bottom of the layout.

Now for the scary part. I added some journaling. This made me so nervous but I did it! I wrote "Nick loves his olives! One for each finger!". I also used my Smash date stamp to add a date to the layout. I am slowly learning that my layouts don't always have to be about technique or art but rather the idea of sharing our families memories for years to come.

Happy Anniversary Card

I love making "romantic" cards. I have 3 boys so I don't get to play with flowers and such very often but this paper from Webster's Pages was too gorgeous to hide away in my stash.

I started by cutting a damask and its shadow from Damask Decor. They were cut real size off at 4.76 inches. I inked the edges of all the cuts.

Next I assembled the cuts.

Then I cut the doves layer from the same cut at 4.76 inches real size off. By leaving the real size off my layers will fit, regardless if they were cut at different times. I gave each of the wings a bit of a lift to add dimension.

Next i cut this banner from Heritage Cricut cartridge. It was cut at inches. I then stamped this sentiment from Pink By Design "Here Comes The Bride". To make the sentiment fit the banner, I placed it on my block with a slight curve. I then folded the edges back under each other to make the banner look 3D. I added a rhinestone to the cut.

Finally I tied my ribbon and mounted my cuts to my card base. This card is larger at 6 by 6. But I think it has an elegance that anyone would love to receive.

Thank You Milk Carton

Today I have a quick goodie box to share. My son's Paras have been transferred to a new school. They work so hard to take care of him, so I knew I needed to squeeze in a quick favor this week.

I used the new Imagine Notebook Doodles for the container. (I bought mine from Terrikrafts at Stampsalive.blogspot.com) I set the image to fit to page and I changed the default pattern. When I changed the pattern, the scoremarks vanished off the cut!

I was in too much of a rush to fiddle with cutting the original, so I used my Martha Stewart Scoreboard estimated where the scoremarks would be. I finsihed folding the box and added my candy.

The last step was to cut a "quotation" shape from the built in Imagine Shapes and filled it with a pattern from Notebook Doodles. I stamped with Pink By Design "Big Thoughts" for the sentiment.

I am going to find time this weekend to make a video for you on how to fold this box when the scoremarks vanish. Have a Happy Friday!

May The Waves Kiss Your Feet Card

I finally got to play with the new Cricut Imagine cartridge The Good Old Days. I am so in love with this cartridge. The colors and patterns are awesome and full of year round images. As soon as I saw this image, I had the perfect stamp set from Pink By Design to use.

I statted by cutting the boy image at 3.5 inches in layers. I inked the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. To add dimension to the sand I stamped with Pink By Design Canvas Background stamp with Antique Linen Distress Ink and then sprinkled sandy colored embossing powder. I also cut my matting paper by using the built in Imagine shape rectangle 5 by 7. I sized the red to 5.o inches and the blue to 4.5 inches.

Next I cut the label shape from the built in Imagine shapes. They are sized at 1.9, 2.1, 2.3 inches. The sentiment is from Pink By Design Sandy Toes set. It reads "May the waves kiss your feet, the sand be your seat, and your friends outnumber the stars". LOVE IT!

Next I began assembling. I stated by cutting and mounting to an A7 base. I added some white shiny ribbon and a button with twine to the card before placing the blue mat. I then added my sentiment.

Finally I added the image.

I truly have anew favorite cartridge.

This card so many deatils but still has a nice balanced simplicity. I hope you enjoyed my project. As always thank you for commenting and of course following me. Have a creative day!

Thanks Snow Much Card

Now that Christmas is all packed up, I have started to get all my thank you notes out. I am trying to make them sort of easy and quick since I have so many to do. This one is one of my favorites. Once I had the sizing and placement, I was able to make several within an hour.

I stated by printing and cutting in Layers from the Imagine Snow Angel cartridge. The mittens are cut at 4.0 inches. I attached the top layer to the mitten, and then flipped the cut over. I used some ATG to attach the twine to the back of both mittens. I also added an AWI wobbler to each mitten.

Next I made my card base. This one is an A2. I mounted the matting from DCWV Glitter Mat Stack. I then used the top note shape from the Imagine. They are sized at 1.7 inches and 1.4 inches. The sentiment is from Pink By Design "Snowflakes".

My final step was to mount the mittens to the card and the stamped sentiment.

Stines and Stems

I am completely addicted to Glass Etching. It all started when my husband wanted to do an etched beer stine as a white elephant gift for his office holiday party. I had never done any kind of etching. I knew how to do but had never attempted it.

I started by kiss cutting (3 depth, 3 speed, 3 pressure) into vinyl. He wanted "Risk Analytics"- his company's name. I used Nate's ABC font at approximately 1 inch.

Once I had cut the vinyl, I placed the stencil of the font onto the mug. I placed the large portion first and then placed the center of the R and the A into the stencil.

We bought the mug at Goodwill for 49 cents. I then used a black sponge brush and covered the stencil with Armour Etch.

After about 10 minutes, I rinsed the etching cream off, dried the mug, and removed the vinyl.

I had a hard time photography the mug.

This was a huge hit at the holiday party since all the employees are male. We boxed it up with some beer, pretzels, and Beef Jerky- The Total Guy package

So after the success of the White Elephant gift, I got thinking I could do small gift for my siblings and their spouses for Christmas. I went to the Dollar Store and bought all the men Beer Stines and all the girls Wine Glasses.

I then used Blackletter Cricut cartridge for the guys at 4 inches.

The wine glasses were etched with Wall Decor and More at 2 inches.

Each couple received a set with their first name initial etched into the glass.

You know its a good gift when it gets posted on Facebook with a shout out! My sister Kathleen and her husband Bret put them to use right away. I hope you have a creative day!

Always Play Layout-Tutorial and Gypsy File

I know I promised some non paper projects today but I had to do a little rearranging in my schedule to fill in over at Pink By Design Blog today. Normally I shy away from layouts. They are intimidating for me. I am no sure why since that's how I started 13 years ago. But as a personal goal this year (I despise resolutions), I am attempting to try and make more layouts. And not blank ones- ones with pictures. So here we go!

All the cuts are from the Cricut cartridge Teresa Collins Sophisticated. The paper is also Teresa Collins- On the Edge.

I started by cutting all my embellishments. I like to do all cutting then all assembling. This banner was cut at 1.12 inches. I folded it in half. Stamped this sentiment from Pink By Design "Big Thoughts" and then adhered it with ATG around a lollipop stick.

Remember I cut from Gypsy so if you are cutting traditionally you will need to round up or down to the nearest 1/4 inch.

Next I cut this star shape and the layer "BOYS" at 3.38 inches (real size off). I cut this from Tim Holtz Grungepaper. My settings were depth 6, speed 5, pressure 5, multicut 2. I also used paiter's tape to hold to the mat during cutting. I used Layers on Glimmer Mist and Crackle Paint in Broken China for the star emblem. The words boys was coated thinly with Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

The Argyle is cut at 7.35 inches.

The bracket is cut at 8.29 inches.

I also saved and trimmed the negative portion of the bracket cut to use.

The crown is cut at 1.47 inches from AC Metallic cardstock. I tinted the silver cardstock with Sailboat Blue Alcohol Ink and then gently coated it with Gunmetal Stickles. It's a pretty cool effect in real life.

Next I matted my photo. I used Cuttlebug Folder Brickyard for the matting. I sanded after embossing to really bring out the embossing. Whenever I sand, I use the Dust Buddy From Core'Dinations. It picks up all the loose dust. You can even rub it on your projects to remove the paper dust from sanding and distressing.

Next I began assembling.

Whenever I want to add dimension, I use pop dots.

Finally I added my cuts. The word "Play" is from my stash of goodies. I may have gotten them at Joann, but it was several years ago. Then I tore up the edges of the side to reveal the white core. I inked the exposed edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.

After I tore up the edges and inked, I used Canvas Corp Hemp to wrap around the edge. I also used some beading wire too. I used ATG to mount them to the backside of the layout before mounting to my base.

I love all this dimension!

It has given me the confidence to begin to preserve my families memories.

I am still not brave enough to add my handwriting, but one step at a time, RIGHT!??!!

Blingy Turtlenecks

As most of you know, I am huge fan of buried layers and treasures inside my Cricut cartridges. Over the last month or so I have shown several projects using Ribbons and Rosettes. One feature that I found once I opneded the cartridge was "Rhiniestone" layer feature. I relish the opportunity to add bling to anything I can and since I have 3 boys- that does not happen very often. I decided to try this feature on a gift for my neices- Michelle and Shyloh. They are 3 and love pink, hearts , and BLING. This gift has all 3!

I started by cutting contact paper (or vinyl) using Kiss Cutting- 3 Pressure, 3 Depth , and 3 Speed at 1.63 inches (if you are cutting from the cartridge, I would round this to 1.75). For some reason my E2 cuts a bit different than my Expression did- so I had to lower the Depth and Pressure to 2. I pressed the contact paper to my washed shirt. Next I began using a heat tool to set each rhinestone. I used my Tulip one for this project, but if you have an I Rock (I have both) you could use that too.

Once I had all the rhinestones in place, I gently pulled the contact paper up and revealed my design. This project was super easy and under $5 to make. The Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge has several borders as well as a font that is set for adding rhinestones. Tomorrow I will have a couple glass etching projects that I made as gifts. I know I am few days late wishing everyone a Happy New Year, but better late than never- right?!? Our family has been very busy these last weeks. Fortunately, I am still sane (Barely) even after 3 weeks of Christmas break for the kids. My projects for the next few days are what I consider non traditional Cricut projects- meaning not papercrafting. I decided to make a few gifts handmade this year. I am going to be showing those over the next few days. Normally I do more papercrafting. So what I would like to know from my readers is . . .

Do you like seeing projects that are not papercrafting but made with Cricut?

If so, I will start to publish more of those projects in addition to my cards, tags, minis, layouts, and altered items. So if you have time, leave me a comment letting me if these types of projects interest you.

Sophisticated Thanks

A few weeks ago, James and I were invited to his office holiday party which was held at one of the owner's homes. We had such a great time. Now that I am all done and caught up with Christmas stuff, I decided I needed to take the time to make a nice thank you card for the hosts.

I stated by making a 5 by 5 Square card. The paper is new and from Teresa Collins Carolina Breeze. I love this collection. The frame is cut from Cricut cartridge Teresa Collins Sophisticated at 4.18 inches. The matting behind the card is cut at 4.75 by 4.75 inches.

Next I chose one of the pre-cut die cuts from the paper bundle and stamped this sentiment from Pink By Design Home Sweet Home collection. In my opinion this sentiment set is a must own.

On the same die cut sheet came several 12 by 12 borders. I folded this one into a rosette and added a rhinestone to the center.

Then I took a small strip of tulle approximately 4 inches by 6 inches and folded it into a pleat. Then I used the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher and put a staple in the center.

I fanned out the pleats. I then hot glued this to the back of the rosette.

This card has such sophistication. The colors are even more beautiful in person. If you can find this collection , BUY IT. You will not be disappointed. I hope you have a creative day!

Just Add Water Gift Tags

This is the week of baking and prepping in my family. My sister asked me to make her some tags to add to her Cocoa Mix that she gives out each year. I knew right away what I wanted to do! I hope you will like these cute and easy tags. I am sharing this project not only with my readers but the readers at Pink By Design blog.

First I cut 6 sets of circles using my built in Imagine Shapes. The shapes were "filled" using my Imagine with Kate's Kitchen. I have owned this cartridge for awhile, but this is my first time using it. I really like the colors and patterns. The circles are sized at 3.2 inches, 2.9 inches, 2.6 inches. I cut the little hot cocoa image at 1.5 inches combined layers (this means it cuts flat). All the shapes were inked with Frayed Burlap and Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink.

I stamped this sentiment from Pink By Design Tags and Treats set. I curved "just add water" when I mounted the stamp so it would bend around the tag.

Then I assembled the tags. I used pop dots on the cocoa to make it stand up a bit.

Finally, I punched a hole through the top of the tag and added some twine and ribbon.

I made 6 of these in under 1 hour- 20 minutes was spent looking at patterns to use for my circles. I always do that. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this project and maybe it will inspire you to dress up those homemade goods. Have a creative day!

Nothing says '80 s to me more than Bon Jovi. And let's face it who doesn't like singing that song at the top of their lungs in the car! So when I was asked to be in this hop I knew I had to put that sentiment to use!
Welcome to the Back to the 80's Blog Hop!

I am joining in with several friends to celebrate Emily's birthday. You should have come from Candace. Your next stop is Angelica. If you get lost along the way, Emily is the start and our hostess. There you can find the full line up if you want to start at the beginning. Even though this is a quickie, my card is fun and funky and totally 80's inspired!

I started by cutting this microphone at 4.0 inches from Quarter Note Cricut Cartridge. I added rhinestones to glam it up. I mounted it to an A2 base. The paper is from Generation Tech stack form DCWV (background) and the Creamy stack from DCWV (microphone and layer).

Then I cut this diamond from Cake Basics at 1.75 inches. The paper is Creamy Stack from DCWV. The sentiment is from Pink By Design.

I added Stickles to add some shine and sparkle. I used Firefly, Glam Pink, and Turquoise

My last step was to add an Action Wobbler to the sentiment, so it shakes around. Fun!

Teacher Gift Bags

At my oldest son's school, the teachers have wish lists for classroom supplies. I grabbed a few tags for each teacher. I decided to go with a good rule of thumb K*I*S*S- "Keep It Simple Silly". My natural inclination is to do a detailed project but this is not always possible. Today I am sharing not only with my readers but the readers at She's A Sassy Lady.

I realized I needed a bag of some kind to put the items in. I found these unfinished bags at Joann's. They came in a 6 pack for $4.99. I then used a 40% off which made this a very affordable gift wrap option. Plus I could make these bags very quick (added bonus!). I started by cutting a 12 by 12 sheet to 9 by 12 inches. This left a nice border on the edges.

I then cut my images from Gingerbread. I bought this cartridge last year in a bundle. I had not used it and I have to say this is an easy cartridge to cut and layer. I am going to do some cuts for the boys to play with next week during winter vacation. Here is my sizing (real size off):

Candy 4 inches

Gingerbread Girls 6.0 inches

Holly 5 inches

Next I cut these tags from Art Philosophy at 2.0 inches. I stamped this sentiment from Pink By Design "Gratitude" set. I added some twine to the top of the tags to tie to the bags.

Finally I assembled the bags.

Here are my other designs. I made a total of 5 in about an hour.

Elegant Gift Card Holder

This year I bought my sons' teachers and paras gift cards. They work so hard all year; it's the least I can do. I did not just want to hand them a gift card. I wanted them to know how special they are and how much I appreciate them. So I took some time to make these fabulous gift boxes.

I started by cutting a box from Spring Holiday Cards. The paper is BoBunny. I used by Gypsy to size so the sizing I used is a bit odd. If you are using any of your Cricuts traditionally, size it to 3.50. If you use Gypsy, DS, or CCR- You can download my Gypsy file for free at the end of the post.

I then folded the box. This box is pretty easy. The scoremarks can be seen but are not huge either. The box can be folded to open and close on the side or on the top.

I know several of my readers have stated how much they learn better in a video so I made you one on how to fold this box.

Once my box was folded, I made my pinecone. This pine cone is made from pear shapes from Gypsy Wanderings. If you own a Gypsy, you have this cartridge. If you do not have a Gypsy, many other Cricut cartridges offer pear shapes. Mine are sized at .75 and .85 inches. If you use another cartridge you may have to play with the sizing a bit.

Next I cut the greenery from Straight From the Nest. I love this cartridge for any kind of nature cuts. The spiky greenery is cut at 2.50 inches. The long scrolled greenery is at 2.07 inches (remember f you are cutting traditionally, size up or down to the nearest 1/4 inch.)

I then wrapped my box up with some ribbon and added the greenery on top and then the pinecone.

The added elements on the top really make this look like a special gift.

Rosette Ornaments

Rosettes are all the craze right now. Of course I couldn't help myself but to buy the Cricut cartridge Ribbons and Rosettes. I am still playing with the cartridge. Today's project is made using Ribbons and Rosettes and Mini Monograms.

I started by using my Gypsy to weld two 3.59 inch borders together. I used the 2x3 border feature. i cut two of these out of Authentique double sided paper. I then scored every 1/4 inch.

Here is a close up of the paper. Isn't it divine!?!

Next I connected to two pleated strips. I used this flap to "wrap" over the edge of the second pleated strip.

Once I connected to two edges, I ended up with this cupcake looking circle.

Next I cut and stamped these circled form Mini Monograms at 2.5 inches. The sentiment is from Pink By Design Stamps "Olde Time Christmas".

Next I applied lace to the back of the circle with hot glue. I then hot glued rhinestones to the circle.

Next I flattened the rosette and applied a generous amount of hot glue to the center. I pressed the circle into the glue, sealing the rosette in place. I did this for both sides. I then tied small gold twine through the loops to create a hanger.

I am making a few of these to put on my tree. I think they would be awesome on gifts in lieu of bows or ribbons. Because both sides are done, they could also be hung from the ceiling to decorate.
