Bienvenidos Card Pink By Design

Lately I have been cleaning my studio up. While I was organizing stamps, I realized I had never sued this set of stamps from Pink By Design. So I decided to break them in with a fun Welcome card. If you love daily inspiration, Please check out the Pink By Design Blog. I am sharing my card there today as well.

This card is really very simple. All the papers are from Cricut Imagine Audrey. I used art metal for part of the backing. I ran it through the Cuttlebug with the Madison Embossing Folder to give it nice deep embossing. I then layers a circle cut at 3.75 inches from Cricut George and Basic Shapes Cartridge out of both chipboard and cardstock. Inside the circle, I added a shape that is from Musical Flourish Cuttlebug Embossing Plus folder. I stamped the shape with a Pink By Design sentiment from Say It In Spanish using Staz On ink in the center.

Instructions:

Print Audrey paper on white cardstock- front and back
Cut 1 3.75 inch Circle from black chipboard from George and Basic Shapes
Cut 1 3.75 inch Circle from Audrey Paper from George and Basic Shapes
Cut an A2 card base and fold in half
With Musical Flourish Folder, emboss white cardstock
With the Madison Folder, emboss silver metal.
Cut turquoise metal using Fanciful Labels Cuttlebug Embossing Plus Folder
Stamp the sentiment “Bienvenidos” from Pink By Design Say it in Spanish Stamps
Apply layer all pieces starting with the white cardstock, the silver metal, then Circle, then Turquoise tag.
Tie a small yellow ribbon along the side.
Apply 2 rhinestones with hot glue to the ends of the label.

Robot Party Canvas

I love experimenting with canvas. This home decor piece is one of my favorites. It was really easy to make. Today I am sharing this project not only with my readers but the readers at She's A Sassy Lady. The entire project was made with the Cricut cartridge Robot Party.

This project was made for a manufacturer. As a result I did not do a full photo tutorial. But I do have a complete list of instructions to duplicate this project.

Directions

Using an inexpensive canvas, paint a thin layer of blue acrylic paint along sides and across the front.
Once dried, measure and cut a piece of fabric to cover canvas and sides.
Smear a thin layer of Modge Podge Matte on canvas.
Lay down fabric
Smear another coat of Modge Podge Matte on top of the fabric.
Repeat Layering the Modge Podge twice, drying in between coats.
Cut <NameTgLyr> <CpckWpLr> <Card1Lyr> <CardLyr> Flip and <RoboPrty> from Silver Contact Paper, using settings: 3Depth, 3 Pressure, 3 Speed.
Weed out the vinyl and using transfer tape, lift the contact paper form backing and place onto the dried canvas.
Smooth the cuts down firmly
Using E6000, adhere several small metal embellishments, including, nuts, bolts, washers
Once the metal has dried, run a 1 inch wide strip of Terrifically Tacky Tape to the sides of the canvas. Removing the liner on one side at a time, begin to pleat the ribbon up about an inch and then down an inch. Continue this all the way around the canvas.

I did not make the pleating “perfect” since the theme is a bit quirky, playful and fun

April Showers Card

I think of all my Imagine cartridges, Enjoy the Seasons is one of my favorites. It always seems to have just the cutest images. My project today is themed April Showers for SOUS Die Cut Team.

This A2 card is very simple. The details, as always make the difference. The printed paper on this card is also from Enjoy The Seasons. I love this pattern.

I cut the image in layers and used pop dots to raise all of them. I also used Viva Decor Gloss Pen in Clear for the raindrops to make them stand out more.

Your Smiles Are Rare Layout- April Blog Hop

I am working hard to do more layouts. I love this one so much! I was inspired to create this layout for the April Blog Hop for The Bug Bytes. You should have come from Pam's at The Bug Bytes. When Pam from The Bug Bytes created this sketch, I knew I was going to adapt it to a boy layout.

All my cuts are from Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge from CTMH. The paper is from Sassafrass.

I cut the pennants at 1.24 inches and 1.47 inches. I used pop dots to layer and added cork alphabet letters to the center.

The arrows are cut at1.71 inches. The star journaling block is cut at 3.71 inches. I am getting braver with journaling.

The border is cut at 1.35 inches.

The sun shape is cut at 7.82 inches. The picture is 3.5 by 5 and mounted on green cardstock. Then I used corrugated cardboard for the dimension. I sprinkled acrylic paint to the cardboard to tie in the colors.I love picture of my Nicholas. I took this picture with my iPhone in our front yard. It is always difficult to get him to smile on command. So when I end up with a picture of him smiling, my heart jumps for joy!

Buzzin' By Birthday Card

I always like to have extra birthday cards on hand. It alleviates the pressure of trying to remember to make one for each occasion and it prevents the "panic induced" by a child asking for one at 10pm the night before the party. I am sharing this project not only with my readers today but also with the readers at Pink By Design Blog. Make sure you pop on over to sign up there for daily inspiration!

This card was pretty easy. I used Echo Park Boy's Life 6 by 6 paper pad for the paper. I chose to start with this top note shape. I trimmed one edge to fit my card which is 4 by 4. I folded the edge over to expose the backside. This is why I love EP paper- it is double sided.

To hold the folded edge down, I sewed a zig zag stitch. Next I stamped the sentiment from Pink By Design "Oh Boy!". I also tied several wraps of twine and hemp on the edge.

I then made my mounting with solid cardstock and more patterned paper from EP Playground. I stitch another zig zag to attach the pattern paper to the cardstock. Then I mounted the shape to the card base with pop dots.

Finally I added this adorable rocket ship from Martha Stewart Birthday Cake Art Cricut cartridge at 3.59 inches. I used more pop dots for the star. I also decided to add a button to the twine.

I love this boy card. The colors are fun and bright. I think the EP Boy's Life collection is my new favorite. As always thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and of course following me.

Factor Fun Math Game

I love finding new ways to use my Cricut. My Autistic son, Alexander, had to make a math game and write instructions on how to play. When he described what he wanted, I knew right away we would be using the Cricut. I am sharing this project not only with my readers but the readers at She's A Sassy Lady. The best part of this project: It is actually been useful. Memorization of multiplication has been hard for Alexander. Because of his learning disability, He struggles to memorize but he understands the concept. This game is so easy to play and the repetition really works!

I started by welding the calender grid from Designer's Calender cartridge. I sized a grid to 5.82 by 4.06 inches. I then made 3 copies and welded the 4 images together. I shifted the large grouped grid to fit on my mat so I created 10 squares by 10 squares (a portion of the grid hung off my Cricut Mini Mat; on an Expression Mat you could line this up without hanging the welded image off the mat). I laid the grid on a piece of white cardstock paper approximately 10 by 11.5 inches.

Next I cut a strip of black cardstock to act as a background for the title. The title font is from Base Camp and are sized at 1.60 inches.

Next we cut the tokens; they are sized at .60 inches and are from Designer's Calender as well. We chose 4 colors for the four players and cut 36 for each player. The number inside the square is actually cut from vinyl. I always use vinyl if I am cutting anything thin or slender. These numbers are from Nate's ABC's and are sized at .51 inches. The hard part in this project was figuring out the frequency that the products occur across the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Now for the game rules . . .

Each player takes turn rolling the 2 dice. Whatever two number you roll, you multiply together. You find that "product" (fancy term for answer in math) and place a token. When you have 4 tokens in a row, you win. I hope this gives you some inspiration to try and incorporate your Cricut crafting into school projects. Happy Spring Card

I can't believe Easter is this weekend! It always amazes me how fast these months keep rolling by! Today I am sharing my project from SOUS. The theme this week is "Spring is in the Air". Immediately I thought of Lori's Garden for this project. All the images are soft and beautiful.

I printed 2 8.5 by 11 squares- one 4.0 and the other 3,75. I used patterns from Lori's Garden. I then stamped this sentiment form Pink By Design call "Scripted Year".

The image is cut from Lori's Garden at 4.0 inches. I chose to cut 2 of these images; since this image is in the bonus section, it does not have layers. So I used the second cut to pop up some of the first cut. I also added some rhinestones with the I=Rock.

Pop dots really make this card have depth. I tied some twine and ribbon across the top. Finally I mounted the yellow piece to the green using pop dots.

Blast Off and Happy Birthday! How perfect for a boy! Today I am sharing this project not only with my readers but the readers at The Bug Bytes. A week or so ago I started showing some projects that were made for ProvoCraft last year. I finally got permission to publish these projects. This was another one of my favorites I made for Space Party. All the paper is from the Cricut Imagine cartridge JT.

Normally I do full photo tutorials, but in the case of these projects they were made for design work for a company. As a result, I did not do a full tutorial. I do however have full directions and cut sizes to duplicate this project. ENJOY!

I love mixing fabric and texture into my layouts. It adds so much depth.

The flowers are form my stash. I have been slowly trying to work though it lately. I just layered several flowers using hot glue.

Layout are challenging for me. But I always feel a huge flood of confidence when its done. I love to challenge myself.

Vintage Bunny Card

Today I am sharing this adorable vintage bunny card made for the SOUS Die Cut Challenge this week. The theme- BUNNIES!!! The hardest part in making this card was choosing which bunny! I finally settled for the bunny from Winter Woodland.

The card is an A7. The framing is made from Ornamental Iron. It is cut at 6.08 inches. I cut both the gate and the shadow. The edges were inked with Crushed Olive Distress Ink and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The paper is from Girls Paperie. After cutting the gate, I took a hole punch and created a hole to feed the ribbon through. I tied the ribbon and then palced the whole piece on the card base. I added some opaque pearls from CTMH.

Next I cut the bunny at 2.17 inches. I cut all his layers and inked each one. The trouble I had on this cut was the eye and nose. They are itty bitty. So I chose to cut those with vinyl. Whenever I am cutting super small I use vinyl. The edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I also used pop dots to separate the layers. Behind the bunny I cut the shadow from Swiss Dot Bazzill.

I love this card. That bunny is too cute!

Who would have thought to look for an Easter Bunny on a Christmas-Winter cartridge?!!?!?

Makeup Party Chandelier

This was one of my most favorite projects I made for ProvoCraft using Makeup Party. I do not have a daughter but I am a girlie girl through and through. So needless to say, I had fun with this cartridge.

This is a 3D chandelier made from Makeup Party. It is an Event/Project Cartridge, which means it is smaller in content but packs a punch! I used fishing line to create the dangle effect of the polish bottles. All the paper in this project is from the Imagine Audrey. The base for the chandelier was cut from Chipboard and covered with the Audrey paper. I added lots of pearls and small bows to give some depth.

Print favorite patterns from the Audrey Imagine Cartridge on white cardstock

Cut <ChndleLr> and <Chandelr> at 10.25 inches from black chipboard
Cut <ChndleLr> and <Chandelr> at 10.25 inches from Audrey Patterned Paper
Using Spray Adhesive, mount patterned paper to chipboard
Slide the two parts together, creating a 3D Chandelier. To set the cuts together, I used wet adhesive and pressed and held firmly.
Cut <NailPlsh> 4 times from Core'dinations Cardstock and <PolsihLr> 4 times from Audrey Patterned Paper
Then flip the images and cut again 4 times <PolsihLr> and <NailPlsh> from the appropriate paper.
Adhere fronts and back of all Nail Polish cuts.
Cut <DiamndLr> from Audrey patterned paper.
Flip and cut <DiamndLr> from Audrey patterned paper
Since <DiamndLr> does not have a blackout, I created a blackout by adhering both of the Audrey paper <DiamndLr> to the Core'dinations cardstock. I trimmed the excess off, creating a blackout. I then adhered the cuts back to back. (This could also be done with Gypsy, DS, or CCR)
Across the base of each corner of the Chandelier, add flat back pearls.
Below each candle, add a satin black bow.
Using a hole punch, punch a small hole at the bottom of each corner and in the center.
Using fishing line, tie the charms to the bottom of the Chandelier and in the center. Also tie a line into the top.

Upcoming Unreleased Projects

Last Spring I was asked to do some design work for ProvoCraft using, at the time, unreleased cartridges. I got to play with Makeup Party, Space Party, and Robot Party. I was just given notcie that I can release the projects on my blog- FINALLY!!! So over the next week or so you will be seeing lots of projects. Now, my regular readers are accustomed to seeing my photo tutorials. Since this was design work for a company, I did not do photo tutorials. But I do have detailed cut, size, and assembly for each project. I will add the directions at the bottom of each post.

Graphic 45 Bezel Bracelet

Today I am sharing an easy gift idea here and with the readers at She's A Sassy Lady. You are going to be surprised how easy it was.

I used red line tape or Terrifically Tack Tape, Judi Kins DG3 Art Gel, an empty bezel bracelet from Hobby Lobby, small patterned papers, and sharp scissors. I made two of these bracelets as gifts.

I started by using these smaller patterned papers from Graphic 45. Using a pattern with a square or rectangle makes it easy to cut for the bezels.

I found the bezels are not consistent in size so I had to trim and retrim a few times. But once I got the hang of it it went fast. After trimming, I placed a small strip of red line tape on the back of the paper square. I pressed it into the bezel.

Then using Judy Kins DG3 Art Gel, I filled each well.

Here is the vintage fruit bracelet.

This is the fairy bracelet.

It does take overnight for the gel to dry, depending on humidity. It was a bit hard to photograph through the shine on the gel once it was dried. This gel is easier than most epoxy kits and it can be layered between drying times. As always thank you for taking the time to comment and follow me!

Prince Card and Exciting News!

Before I give the details of my card, I want to let you know that I was asked to join the Stuck On U Sketches (SOUS) Design Team!

I am super excited to be working with this amazing group of crafters. I encourage you to stop by the blog and check out the talent. Thier posting schedule is one you won't want to miss on Fridays. It will alternate between Die Cut Inspiration (theme based) one week and the next week is a Sketch inspiration. I will joining the Die Cut team, but I will also be participating with the Sketches as well. I hope you take the time to pop over and show some blog love! Now for my card . . .

My Imagine has been sitting, lonely and neglected lately. So I decided it was time to dust her off and put her to work. My inspiration for this card came from the SOUS Theme of Silhouettes and Cameos. I has a hard time choosing between many of my cartridges such as Forever Young, Heritage, Nursery Rhymes- just to name a few. But I have a love for all things Teresa Collins, so I chose Baby Boutique. This card is simple, yet elegant. It is a full size A7.

I cut the frame and image from Baby Boutique at 4.5 inches (relative size) in layers. I cut the Blessings (also from Baby Boutique) at 1.0 inches. The mattings are also from Baby Boutique patterned papers. I chose to two distinct patterns to give interest to the background.

I did some simple pop dot layering to add depth to the cameo and frame.

Finally I added the Blessings to the bottom.

After yesterday's Copic card, I had a few emails about where I have been learning and any tips or techniques I could share. One thing I have learned through my Copic collecting is that as tempting as the bold colors are, I find myself using a lot of the 0000,000,00, etc. The lighter colors are essential to creating highlights. By using these lighter colors, I see a lot more dimension to my coloring. I have also developed my own method of background coloring. I am working to perfect it so I can teach it to you soon! One of the first artists I discovered was Suzanne Dean. She is amazing. She has YouTube channel and a blog. She recently came to Kansas City, but I was unable to attend her class. Believe me, the next time she comes I AM THERE! Another one of favs is Melissa at Melissa Made. Melissa also teaches online classes. Her blog has lots and lots of Copics! I am a learner. Next I made my card base. I used a ribbon slide cut from Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. It is cut at 1.08 inches. I then stamped the sentiment "Best O'Luck". This sentiment is from Pink By Design Stamps Luck 'O The Irish collection.

Graphic 45 Design Team 2012 Audition

I decided this year to try for Graphic 45 Design Team. Paper and art are my loves in life. I enjoy expressing myself through my art, but what brings me the most joy is sharing with other crafters. I have 6 projects to include with my application. Some of these you may have seen before on my blog, but a few are unpublished, until now. I know this type of post is a bit of a deviation for my readers. Consider this post pure eye candy! Remember you can click on any photo to enlarge and see details.

This project is an altered wooden perfume box from Banana Republic. The box was so elegant, I could not throw it out. I used Once Upon A Springtime from Graphic 45 for the paper. This is the box closed.

When the magnetic top is removed, inside is a beautiful butterfly perched in some moss.

My next project is an altered 12 by 12 canvas. This done in a collage style with beeswax as the binder. It has Perfect Pearls dusted across it. In the picture it hard to appreciate all the details in the canvas. I loved this collection so much I wanted to use every part of it!

My next project is a mini album made from coasters. Although this project does not have any Graphic 45, I think it is a nice representation of my style. I love ink and I love getting messy! All the coasters have been embossed, inked, and then bound into a fun home decor style mini album.

My next project is a simple yet elegant card made from Steampunk Debutante. I love the frames that come with each collection. I hand-rolled the flower on the side and the curled ribbon is actually strips from Steampunk Debutante. I love to incorporate metal in my work. This card features some jewelry chain and a jewelry token from my stash.

My next project is an altered 7 Gypsy Printer's Tray. I made this tray using Halloween in Wonderland. There is lots of ink and embellishments. I encourage you to click on the picture to enlarge and see all the yumminess. Each "picture" has been coated with Crackle Accents to give a very worn look.

This is my final project. This mini album is made from Glassine Envelopes and bound with a YourStory. It has lots of details and each page is art thanks to Tropical Travelogue. This exotic mini album has lots of pockets and trinkets for all those special details and pictures.

Do Small Things . . .

With Great Love. I love that sentiment! It speaks so true to life. Last weekend I had the pleasure to get to meet up with my friend Chao. We had a craft night at her house. I always have trouble deciding what to take to a small crop activity. So I decided I would take my Cricut Mini, Gypsy, and Giant Flowers cartridge handbook. Normally, I would not bother taking the handbook but in the case of this cartridge, it is necessary. The handbook has the assembly directions and quantities need to assemble each flower.
Today I am sharing this project not only with my readers but the readers at the Pink By Design Blog. If you have not stopped by the blog- DO IT! There are daily posts with lots of variety and inspiration!

I started by making this "stand". This cut is actually from Sweet Treats and is cut 5.83 inches. It is the favor holder, turned upside down. I also cut his tag and its matching layer at 2.42 inches from Art Philosophy. The paper is from Webster Pages.

Next I layered lace around the edge of the box. I secured the lace with hot glue. I then added the tag with pink burlap twine. and crinkle ribbon.

Finally I added the peony on top. The peony was cut at 5.0 inches. All the petals were shaped and inked. I added some leaf cuts from Flower Shoppe. The leaves are cut at 4.12, 4.75 and 5.0 inches. All the leaves have been shaped and inked.

I thought this would be a nice gift for a friend. Or it could be used as a place setting or centerpiece for a shower or luncheon.

Kid Friendly Valentine Card

I love crafting with my kids. Although I personally love crafting in a more complicated or detailed manner, I find it very enjoyable to break it all down to the basics and make simple cards with the boys. Today I am sharing this simple card with not only my readers but the readers at She's A Sassy Lady.

What makes this card so easy is the ability to have it put together quickly. I had all the paper pre-cut for a 4 by 4 card. My matting was cut to 3.75 by 3.75 and the patterned paper is cut at 3.5 by 3.5, This paper is from Jillibean Soup. The "LOVE" and it heart layers were cut at 2.50 inches with Cricut Home Accents (real size off). We pop dotted the heart. These were made for Alexander's teachers and para.

Happy Love Day Card and Video

Today I am sharing with you a card I made using Echo Park "Yours Truly". I get so excited whenever they release a new collection- they never disappoint.

This card is a pretty easy A2. I started by folding my card base and all the matting. The cut you see here in this picture is from Art Philosophy. It is a ribbon slide cut at 2.75 inches. At this size you can feed 1 inch ribbon through the slots. The grosgrain I used is 3/4 inch.

Next I fed my ribbon through the slots and mounted it to one of the mats. I wrapped the edges of the ribbon to the back.

Then I assembled the rest of the base of the card.

Now for the cool technique I used for the sentiment on this card. You will need sentiment stamps (I love Pink By Design), Embossing Ink, Embossing Powder, a stamp block, a large flat button, a heat gun, and the magic tool . . . A powder stamp pouch.

You will want to start by dusting the button with powder from a stamp pouch. Then mount your stamp and apply embossing ink to the stamp. Gently push the stamp onto the powdered button. Apply embossing powder and heat. It's pretty cool. I made a video to show you how to do this technique.

I Heart You

I am really enjoying playing my new papers I bought last weekend. This card is made with the Pebbles "With Love" collection, just like yesterday's card.

This card is 5 by 5. I am really digging square cards lately. I stated by cutting my matting to fit my card base. I also stamped this sentiment from Love Always from Pink By Design stamps.

Next I tied some hemp like twine to the top of the card. I knotted a button to finish it off.

The cut I used is from Love Struck Cricut Cartridge. I had the hardest time getting this to cut correctly at 3.5 inches. That is the smallest I would try going with this particular shape.

Finally I mounted the heart to the card.

Printed Kraft paper is a serious weekness of mine. I hope you liked today's project. Have a creative day!

Cupid Card- Quick and Easy

I decided to lift my spending ban this past weekend to replenish my Valentine's Day papers. I found this paper at Archivers. It is from Pebbles "With Love" collection. I have never bought their paper before, but I have to say I am seriously impressed. It has a nice weight and the prints in this collection are to die for. This card is 4 by 4. I love how simple and easy it is. I am sharing this project not only with my readers but the readers at the Bug Bytes.

I started by making my mats at 3.75 and 3.5 inches. I then took the strip off the bottom of the paper where the SKU and product names are. Isn't this XOXO strip too cute?! I crinkled it up and then used my sewing machine on a zig zag to stitch it down.

Next I cut this adorable cupid and its layers at 3.0 inches (real size off) from Sweetheart Cricut Cartridge. I then used pop dots to raise him up and placed him on the card.

My final step was to mount my matting to my 4 by 4 kraft card base. See I told you quick and easy.

Always and Forever Candy Box : Love Is In The Air Blog Hop

This is how it started. Plain and simple.

I started by layering my ribbon and lace. The lace is from Hobby Lobby and the ribbon is from Joann. I used Terrificall Tacky Tape to secire the two layers together.

My next step was to apply my ribbon to the box.

Once I had the ribbon on the box, I used some gliitered ribbon to hand pleat.

Next I applied a layered cut from Love Struck Cricut cartridge at 4.76 inches.

Then I cut this banner form Heritage at 1.94 inches. I inked with white chalk ink and then stamped this sentiment from Pink By Design Here Comes The Bride Set.

I then folded the edges and hot glued the banner to the box with some rhinestones.
