over the last year, i have been working almost exclusively on a project that i am extremely excited about.

18 months ago, David and I were asked to assist a group with the purchase of certain assets and intellectual property in the football industry. One thing led to another, and we decided individually to join the effort, form the company, and commercialize the product. as someone who is football mad, it represented a great opportunity to pursue an entrepreneurial venture in a sport i spend a great deal of my personal time consuming. Not to mention a boyhood hero, Kenny dalglish is part of the team.

Fast forward 12 months, and we have finally put the product out on the market in the UK. Its a disruptive technology for sure, and we are fighting massive incumbents. but why cant we succeed?

In my role now as the COO of the company, i find myself on all corners of the globe (manufacturing in Indonesia, product release in UK) frantically trying to maintain control of the systems, design, manufacturing and product aspects of the company.

Its an exciting and challenging time for us. wish us luck

South Boston Culinary backwater

I live in a neighborhood of boston (02127) that has historically found its notoriety for such happenings as the busing efforts of the 1970’s - school system imposing a form of forced integration, and for crime figures such as whitey bulger - memorialized in the movie the departed. What i cant understand, is why there has not been any kind of renaissance in th culinary offerings in the neighborhood - it is a proverbial eating backwater - anything beyond steak bombs, or boring bar food is not available.

I am also posting this as i am trying out a new technology called Outside.in which is a hyper local 2.0 UGC type offering.

Concave goes to the Emirates

My new company recently sponsored Barclays at a Childcare charity event held at Arsenals Emirates stadium

A great day had by all. Here is a picture of Jim Grimes (Concave’s CEO) and Simon Walker in Arsenals Dressing room after the match.

We also auctioned off a pair of our new football boots and they fetched $1000!

Outlook order from chaos

As someone who is part of an organization that is worldwide and who’s executive team is remote (really remote). Outlook is both necessary and impossible. i was recently turned on to a new application that - once installed - resides with the outlook framework and attempts to provide a logical, sensible semantic view of the chaos residing within the application. It acts like a scrobbling (see last.fm) application, monitoring what you are doing (all local) and organizing your actions in a way that provides the user with a much more meaningful lens in to his data.

Rather than list all of the benefits in this post, i urge you to go ahead and install the tool and try it. It is superb.

What i dont understand, and maybe this is indicative of the larger strategic flaws that are washing over redmond (see Vista reviews - appalling piece of software) is wehy MSFT did not come up with this?

What i also dont understand is how xobni intends to generate a business outside of the grasp of said behemoth in redmond.

What better a way than to learn about a new industry than to study a competitor. I do hope that one day we can call them a competitor BTW. Check out this commercial for nike, directed by Guy ritchie.

So i have been spending the better part of the last 12 months immersed in an unusual project for me. A distinct departure for me professionally, it involves the sport of football - a love of mine, and a disruptive technology that truly has the potential to change the game. 
The Company is called Concave, and you can find our web home here the site will be going up shortly, in preparation for our product hitting the shelves in the UK this August.
I have taken on the role of COO - the image below is a pretty cool piece of precision engineering that we will be using in the products construction.
