As we all are aware of it that,
the climatic change and its adverse effects are mainly caused by green house
gases. Also various research shows clear perspective that of the various green
house gases carbon dioxide seems to be the most hazardous. There had been lot
of research to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It’s hard to say that
we could not find the most apt and best way to get rid of excess carbon dioxide
from the atmosphere. It doesn't mean
that we cannot get rid of CO2, but it will need some time for the
research to be carried out. As the time span is less, more we wait more adverse
effects we would have to face. In order to minimize the adverse effects of
climatic change researchers suggested changing the focus. They pointed that as
we are on the hot spot and we have to take action to the earliest so instead of
just concentrating on CO2. We
can concentrate on other green house gases and acute the effects on climatic
change. From the research done by NOAA scientists the graph below shows that
there are four ways how the effect of climatic change would go. First is if we
go on emitting the way we are emitting, then the direct radiative forcing which
is now 2.75W/m2 will reach 4W/m2 in around 40 years.
Second if we cut 80% of non CO2 greenhouse gases emission the same direct
radiative forcing of 4W/m2 would be achieved around 2100 nearly 90
years from now. Third is if we cut 80% CO2 emission the maximum direct
radiative forcing will be around 3.2W/m2 till 2100, which is far
better if we get. Finally if we are able to cut 80% of complete greenhouse
gases we can even reduce the maximum direct radiative forcing below the present
value up to 2.55W/m2. This way we can have some solution over the
climatic change issue.

Also the trashes disposed these days are quite different from the trashes disposed 50years back. All could not be treated in the similar way, as some are recyclable while others are not. If we just keep on dumping, or disposing by landfill methods, huge area of land is required. Now-a-days land available for living itself is diminishing, in this we require land for dumping waste, which is very difficult to get.

It was found that 70% of the trash from the household can be recycled. So instead of dumping these in trash it can be recycled. These include glass bottles, cans, papers, gift papers and boxes. Recycling these wastes is simple and can reduce space required for landfill.

On segregating the recyclable products the household wastes are left with less waste. Also the food waste in this can be used in developing gardens or compost piles. This way if we dispose the wastes in different bags it would be utilized in better way and least amount of wastes would be dumped. This will not only save the land also the resources.

Apart from household wastes, also garbage disposed from industries could be recycled. This will reduce the expense incurred in landfilling and incineration. Also it saves energy, reduces greenhouse gas emission and other toxic gases. It helps in conservation of scare natural resources.

Energy has become the daily need for us, without which life is very difficult. Now-a-days these animals and birds are losing their habitat and becoming endangered species. The environmentalist fears that the great adjutant storks (locally called Hargilla) are on the verge of extinction.

The reason behind this being the following:

-increase in human habitat

-lack of awareness for the necessity of the giant bird

With the increase in human population, the human habitat expanded along with urbanization and industrialization. As the land available is limited, so inorder to expand the human habitat the wildlife habitat was disturbed. This caused destruction of various trees that possesses nests of various birds. This was one of the major reasons for stork to be classified under the endangered species.

As man started disturbing the nature, the climate, the nature also changed thereby affecting such species. Thereby there was loss in wetlands, habitat and food for the stork. As these wetlands got dried, the land was used for dumping the garbage. The dumped garbage was exposed to various critical conditions due to which it started giving foul smells. The foul smell started to spread with the wind to the surrounding places where people lived. This caused problems to the nearby people causing uneasiness, which made them to clear off the place. Now these clean places get occupied by various building contractors inorder to build more houses. By doing so, the birds lose the habitat.

It was found that, the birds normally build its nest on Simulu trees that are found mostly in North of Guwahati across the river Brahmaputra, which lies in the areas of Satgaon and Mandakatta.

It was observed that the stork population is reducing every year. As we have increased the emission rate of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere to a greater extent, the polar bears are the most affected by it. We not only pollute the air but also the water. These toxic and hazardous materials travel the source to the destination with either air or water as the medium. Here the source is the place where the toxic materials are being produced or emitted like industries, automobiles, etc., and the destination is the place or things that are being affected by it like various habitats, vegetations etc.

Polar Bear baby died and parent is crying!!!

Mainly the polar bears in the arctic regions are face hard time due to these toxic materials. They are being affected by different kind of infections. They are losing their weights, resistance to cold, some even lose their lives. If this emission continues and increases, then in few decades one won’t find any polar bear left on this earth. So one by one we will lose everyone starting from the polar bears till ourselves, if we don’t take any proper action regarding our emission.

By controlling our emission we can still save the other polar bears left. It is never late to act. Everyone has to do their duty properly. Everyone has to contribute inorder to achieve this success. As drops of water put together makes an ocean, likewise everyone’s duty can save our earth and natural resources.

FOREST FIRE – A GREAT THREAT

Forest fire is bust out of fire in the forests to some activity mainly due to attrition caused by rubbing of trees. High temperature also adds up to cause of forest fire. Exactly what happens is, as the wind blows there is contact among the barks of the trees. This contact creates the attrition force among the barks of the trees. Oxygen available in the air helps along with the atmospheric temperature to cause fire.

This fire is a great threat, as it can’t be extinguished by us. It has to stop on its own. This causes damage to the wild species which live in those forests. They will lose their home, sometimes get hurt or even lose their habitat, in the worst cases. Such disaster will cause extinct of certain species that are very sensitive to changes. Along with this, the amount of forest will reduce, thereby due to less trees air purification will be less. Also burning of forest will cause emission of green house gas into the atmosphere. This will increase the atmospheric temperature; also damage the ozone layer causing global warming. The land becomes barren and almost waste.

It’s like chain we pollute the atmosphere and increase the atmospheric temperature by our day to day activities, which in turn disturbs the nature and comes like a boomerang and affects us in amplified way.

The controller for such threat is in our hands. All we have to do is to take care of the global warming. We must see that we don’t pollute the atmosphere beyond the tolerance limit. These are just simple things, if we follow them our earth will be the best place to live in.

Salmon is a fish born in fresh water and grows up in sea. It gains nutrients from the sea water. It stays in sea water for most of the months, but they lay their eggs in fresh water. There is variety of salmon available, out which main are the Atlantic Salmon and the other is Pacific Salmon. Pacific salmon die after they lay their eggs while Atlantic salmon don’t die after they lay eggs.

The Pacific salmon start their journey during the spring. They start to move from the sea towards fresh water, where they were born. There is around half a million salmon that return to the place where they were hatched. While moving towards their hatched place, they not only provide food to many species but also bring life to one of the richest habitat on earth. They move towards fresh water they have to travel around 3000 miles away from their present place. As they move they have to face enormous problems. They have to flow against the currents of the water, get escaped from various predators like grizzly bear, bald-head eagle, Bonaparte gulls and many more. Grizzly bears are the most dependent on these salmon.

They are at the heart of the massive network of life. They provide food to around 200 species of creatures including plants, animals and insects. They after their death undergo decomposition and provide phosphorous, nitrogen to the forests. This way these salmon play a vital role in life’s of various species.

Fresh water from the mountain

Recently it’s found that the number of salmon has gone down considerably. It was found that during the last winter, there were no salmons where they used to lay their eggs in the gravel. If this continues the salmon might get extinguished faster. If this happens the grizzly bear will be most affected, as it is their prime food to survive the strong winter. The main reason behind the decline in the salmon is the climatic change. As the temperature increases, the dissolved oxygen in the water gets decreased so it’s difficult for them to survive.

Due to natural calamities like cyclones, hurricane, storm etc., the natural costal vegetations get extinguished. Those which have least resistance towards change perish fast. These loose there vegetation in the disaster and could not adapt themselves to the available vegetation, so they perish. Due to such disaster, many species have been extinguished. This may even cause imbalance in the food chain or in the ecosystem.

In the recent years the frequency of natural disaster has increased to a greater extent. As soon as man started exploiting the nature in the name of development, the frequency of the natural calamities increased to a greater extent. In the recent past there were around there was many storms, hurricanes, cyclones creating disaster at the coastal areas. NOAA revealed that in 2011, around 12-18 tropical storm, 6-10 hurricanes, 3-6 severe hurricanes.

It was also found that India was affected by several storms in 2011. As natural gas emits low amount of green house gases into the atmosphere. But after few researches it was found that this natural gas could not be the apt solution for climatic problems.

Even though it produces low amount of green house gas, it still is a conventional and fossil fuel. Due to this it could not be the exact solution for which we are searching for. It was also found that it causes other problems than the climatic problem, especially while mining of natural gas takes place. Huge acres of land gets useless after it is mined for natural gas.

In mining of natural gas, hydraulic fracturing or fracking is done. This requires alot of water and uses various toxic chemicals. It requires a huge area to be mined, proper transportation along with storage, which is far difficult.

It was also suggested that non conventional energy sources like solar, tidal, wind, geothermal, etc., could be the best replacement for the non conventional source of energy like coil. oil and natural gas.

Advancements are going on in these non conventional energy sources which are abundant in nature. The more concentrated is the solar energy. As it is directly available from sun at no cost.

Now a days technology in non conventional energy source has gone to such an extent that they have been started implemented on small scale. We have to encourage these inventions and help to develop more and more advancements in these fields. We have to convert this initiative into large scale projects which will be the apt solution this ever growing climatic problem.

Switching to green and clean fuels from fossil fuel will be the PERFECT solution for climatic problems.

This way we can save our earth & natural resources.

travesti

travesti
The scientists have found one more sink that is the BASALT ROCKS. These rocks arrests the carbon dioxide to form harmless limestone. This seems to be innovative step to fight against the global warming.

As we all know that the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has gone up considerably, it has made an urgency to reduce it as low as possible, otherwise we have to be ready to face the various consequences caused by it. The latest example is the formation of the hurricane in USA. This is also due to climatic change, global warming. If we don't any steps to reduce it even now, its very clear that we have to be ready to face such calamities very often.

The scientists are speeding up there researches in order to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere as low as they can. The scientists have found a new sink. This will lock the carbon dioxide in the basalt rocks.

The scientists have decided pump SELTZER WATER into the basalt rock through a deep hole made on the rock. The carbon dioxide entering will react with the calcium in the rock to form a limestone which is not harmful. The super-heated steam is obtained from geothermal plant. Scientists will separate the steam and carbon dioxide and this carbon dioxide is pumped underground into the rocks to form limestone.

This way the amount of the scientists of "Carb Fix" have found a new way to arrest the carbon dioxide available in the atmosphere.

Such innovative methods can save our earth & natural resources.

Glacial ice has also been affected by the global warming. It the past, before global warming, there were huge regions of glacial ice. The global warming has increased the warmth of the globe. This warmth has caused for melting of glacial ice. This is the reason for declination of glacial ice region. At present itself, the glacial ice region is present in very acute level. If such global warming continues, its sure that within few years there will be no glacial ice region. The graphical representation of the glacial regions in the past and present are show below. This would give you the clear picture of the present scenario.

The main reason is the emission of Carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It was found that around 190 billion tons of carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere every year. Out this, 7 billion tons emitted due to human activity, 91 billion tons due to biological activities taking part in the ocean and the rest due to volcanoes and decaying to terrestrial plants.

You might think that human activity is contributing the least amount. But if seen properly, the other two have been increased due to indirect human activities. Our activities, like excess mining, excess deforestation, etc., all such activities in excess has disturbed the nature.

Its very simple, we are disturbing the nature, so in turn its disturbing us by volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunami, etc. This way we are contributing to the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. We are polluting the water bodies by passing various industrial wastes into it. This affects the normal life cycle in the water bodies like oceans. This again will disturb the carbon dioxide balance between the atmosphere and ocean. So excess amount of carbon dioxide gets emitted from the oceans into the atmosphere.

This way we are whole responsible for the excess emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. So we have reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide by all means. We have to save our earth & natural resources.

If its intensity is not controlled, it could be the most disastrous weapon. This is now mainly affecting the wild life, aquatic life to a greater extent. We too are being affected but to an acute level, but within no time it will affect us.

After affecting coral reefs, rare spices of aquatic life, the climate change is targeting the Polar bears cubs. We know that, due to the climatic change, the ice caps in the polar regions are melting down. This means that the Arctic region is declining. Arctic region is the habitat for the Polar bears. So as this Arctic region gets declined, so they are swimming mile together in search of their new habitat.

The elder Polar bears can swim such long long miles days together, but the small once, its highly impossible. Even the elder bears losses considerable amount of weight during such a tedious journey. They lose around 1/4th of their weight.

It was found that the polar bears were swimming approximately 426miles to reach a region which is similar to their habitat. Even that region is very small, also due to increasing climate change problem, even it is expected to be lost soon. The baby polar bears just swim small distance, and die. This way many babies of polar bear has lost their life.

We know that, these polar bears are the poster of climate change. If this climatic change goes to serious level, soon we have to search for some other animal, or even time will come for putting our image too for the poster, if not controlled.

We have to take some initiative to solve this problem. If it is not solved, we might also be facing such problems sometime or the other. So lets put our hands together and save our earth & natural resources.

Effective Reuse of Old CARS

Technology is developing day by day. Everyday there is improvement in all fields. Everything is becoming absolute as day pass. In the automobile field its also the same. The people are going for latest models. They will discard the old cars. So it forms solid waste. So it gets dumped on the earth. With an hint of creative idea we can even utilize these discarded cars the best possible way.

These can be utilized for making some new creative form of parks, gardens. So along with entertainment, environment problem like solid waste disposal can be solved. These parks can be the initiative for creative work.

They can also used in creating museum. This would show the future generation of the past cars. They can see to themselves how the automobiles have developed and much more. Its all how we represent them. If we dump them, it becomes waste and the same thing if we present it quite different way which all like to see. it would surely welcomed and encouraged.

By doing such creative things, we can make the best possible use of them.

If it cant be used for such purpose, we can go for the better way like using its various parts as scrap, recycling them instead of using the fresh raw materials again and again. So raw materials can be conserved at the same time, the energy required to process such scrap will be some what less as compared to the fresh feed.

So don't waste the resources we have, utilize them to the best possible way. This can help to save our earth & natural resources.

Sciences

http://www.agora-sciences.org

****SAVE OUR EARTH &NATURAL RESOURCES****: Carbon dioxide a new boon-----used as fuel.

****SAVE OUR EARTH &NATURAL RESOURCES****: Carbon dioxide a new boon-----used as fuel.

Carbon dioxide a new boon-----used as fuel.

Carbon dioxide along with sunlight produces methanol and gasoline which can be used as fuel. A new innovative method that could reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

As everyone know that the excess amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the prime reason for causing global warming. The global warming has become a greatest problem for the past decade or so. Along with global warming we are facing problems regarding the energy availability. As our fossil fuels are on the verge of extinction, everyone has been alerted for an alternative source of fuels. Till now many alternative fuels have come, but this is going to be more interesting. As this will give solution for two problems at the same time.

Here carbon dioxide along with sunlight can be used as fuel. This will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Along with this energy will also be produced that can be utilized.

In this, carbon dioxide is converted to petrol using sunlight. This is achieved by recovering the building blocks of hydrocarbons by reversing the combustion process. The product so obtained can be synthesized to produce fuels in the form of methanol or gasoline. Already this technology has been tested for small scale utilization. It might require decade or so to commercialize.

Extracting fuel from carbon dioxide is found to be some what expensive. But on fine research it could be optimized. Also the reason for encouraging it is the ever increasing price of crude.

This process uses solar reactors named Counter-Rotating Ring Receiver Reactor Recuperator which is simply called CR5. This solar reactor uses sunlight and breaks carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide and oxygen. Its simply a heat engine, but it does chemical work instead of doing mechanical work which is done by the normal heat engine.

The prototype that is used has the size and shape of a beer keg. This contains 14 cobalt ferrite rings each having diameter of 1 foot and rotates at 1rpm(revolutions per minute). An 947.23 square foot solar reactor traps huge amount of sunlight into the reactor. This is used to heat the cobalt ferrite rings to about 1427 degree centigrade. At this temperature the carbon dioxide breaks up to carbon monoxide and oxygen. As breaking of carbon dioxide to carbon monoxide and oxygen is an endothermic reaction, it absorbs the heat from the rings. When the rings temperature goes down to 1093 degree centigrade, it is exposed to carbon dioxide.

As the cobalt ferrite rings now lack oxygen, it takes it from the carbon dioxide that it is in contact with. There by leaving carbon monoxide, which serves as building block. This building block is the source for the formation of hydrocarbon. Further this can be converted to methanol or gasoline, which is a fuel. After the formation of fuel, the cobalt ferrite ring comes back to its original state and is ready for another cycle.

This way the carbon dioxide which is considered as a problem can be utilized properly to give energy.

This to has one drawback, heating of cobalt ferrite ring to such a large temperature at commercial level. Heating for small scale has been achieved. So we have to find how to commercialize it.

By doing this we can save our earth & natural resources.

If anyone has any idea regarding the heating of rings for commercial scale can give. Its our earth and we have to save it.

CLIMATE CHANGE PROMOTER OTHER THAN CO2

It was initially concluded that CO2 alone contributes hugely for causing climatic change. But it is found that not only CO2, soot coming out from various industries, automobiles along with smog created by the combination of smoke with fog. These are the promoters of climatic change apart from CO2.

Soot is produced by various industries. These soot comes out from the chimneys of the industries. These are carried out to some of the near by places with the help of wind. This is know as pluming. There are various forms of pluming, depending on the velocities of both the soot or plume rising and the wind. Greater the velocity of the wind, long spread of pollutants from the soot takes place. If the wind velocity is far less than the plume velocity, the pollutants will travel in the vertical direction. This will not affect the people to that extent than the former one. But this will affect the air travel, birds etc. This soot from the plume promotes pollution. There by increasing the unwanted green house gases into the atmosphere, which in turn will promote global warming. This global warming will enhance the climatic change problems. There by increasing the global temperature.

This can be reduced by having a control over the emission of soot into the atmosphere. This can be done by 3 methods.

METHOD 1: Using Proper Raw Material

By using those raw materials which would either wont give any soot or give in least amount. This will not only give soot free along with superior quality of product.

Either use top quality raw material or refine it. This will enhance the product with decline in pollutant emission.

METHOD 2: Using Quality Process

If the raw materials cannot be processed or if we wont get pure raw material. Its more advisory to go for good quality process. This quality process will enhance the product also it wont emit pollutant. There by amount of soot produced will be low.

METHOD 3: Using Proper Post Treatment

Various adsorption processes can be applied to adsorb the soot. This will reduce the amount of soot.

This way soot can be reduced and we could prevent pollution. This will reduce the climatic change problem.

Smog is another promoter with would enhance the climatic changes problem. Smog is caused by combination of Fog and smoke. Due to soot from industries and huge amount of smoke from the automobiles along with fog due to natural climate will together make smog. This will causes irritations and various health problems.

Also causes visibility problems and various climatic problems leading to climatic changes.

So to save our earth & natural resources we have to have control over the pollutions which we cause.

INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Industries uses water for many activities. These water is then discharged out. Discharged water contains various impurities like chemicals, metals, suspended particles, etc. All these things are to be treated or removed from the water before they are to be discharged in any water body.

If the water is not properly treated, then the impurities will act upon the various elements water causing adverse effects on aquatic life. This in turn will affect us through food chain. So its our prime duty to see that the water which is being discharged into the various water bodies follows the proper standards as prescribed by the pollution control board.

There are fews sequential steps to e followed to treat the waste water.

STEP 1:

     SCREENING

In this all the coarse sized solids are been removed. Along with the coarse, the floating and other suspended materials of considerable sizes are removed.

STEP2:

     PRIMARY TREATMENT

Here mainly settling process takes place. The water is allowed to settle for a while and then are treated with microbes. These microbes feed upon the wastes colloidal particles suspended in the water.

STEP3:

     SECONDARY TREATMENT

In this process the water is made suitable for almost all purposes, except for drinking. This is mainly done by chemical process. This includes various advanced oxidation process either used separately or with combinations. This will give a better quality if water.

STEP4:

     TERTIARY TREATMENT

Here fine treatment like reverse osmosis, membrane filtration, etc. are being carried out in order to make the water suitable for drinking.

Mostly if the water is to be discharged into water, then we can stop at step3.

So please treat the water before discharging it into any of the water body. By doing this we can save our earth & natural resources.

THE ADVERSE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON ARCTIC

The changes in the climate is found to be drastic & dramatic. In the early olden days there could be certain climatic pattern over a period of time. For instance 3 months rainy season, 3 months autumn, 3 months winter& 3 months summer. Now unfortunately we hardly have these seasons existing. Its raining anytime, the temperatures have gone to extremes both winter and summer. The most affected by this climatic change is animals. They could not adapt to such changing conditions and get perished.

Such kind of similar situation exists in the arctic region. The arctic region has become one of the warmest zone on the earth. Here the summer temperature is increasing year after year. Its expected that during the period from May to June snow formation takes place. Its found that the snow formation has reduced by around 20%. Here the summers are being increased and winters are being decreased by a weak or so. All such unusual changes has taken place in the recent one or two decades.

This also tells that the temperature will increase another 3 to 7 degrees centigrade very soon. Also the the winter period and the thickness of snow is reducing at a greater velocity. Its expected that the glaciers will lose 10-30% of there total mass.

The present rate of increase of green house gases shows a clear path that by 2100 the rise in the sea level would be from 0.9m to 1.6m. This increase in the sea level is found to be twice of that predicted by the UN's panel on climatic change, IPCC in 2007.

Its never late, so its our duty to reduce cordon dioxide emission into the atmosphere. We have to save our earth & natural resources.

GREENHOUSE GAS ALMOST BECOMING DANGEROUS

The carbon dioxide which contributes maximum to the green house gases is found to be increasing its concentration in the atmosphere. It has rosed up to 455 parts per million (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report). This level is termed to be the tipping point.

The amount of carbon dioxide in the environment has already crossed the threshold limit. This means that already the life on the earth has been in danger. The rate at which the carbon dioxide is increasing is enormous. So we have to take some strict action, measures as early as possible. The level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rose because of our activities. So very are very much responsible to sort it out.

It was found that in the 90's the emission rate of carbon dioxide was less than 1% per year, but in 2000's it was near 3.5% per year. This shows at what rate we are emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

This tremendous increase in the carbon dioxide emission rate has lead to around 75% of the problems faced on the earth either directly or indirectly.

These problems include sudden rainfalls, aperiodic changes in the season, price hikes, health problems, food scarcity, loss of habitat, etc.

So its our prime duty to reduce the carbon dioxide emission into the atmosphere and also take some actions to reduce the already existing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Till now you would have guessed those 3 R's, which i m talking about. Ya its REDUCE, REUSE & RECYCLE.

REDUCE:

Reduce the wastage of all most everything. Even small things wastage will directly or indirectly contribute to the loss of resources. So its our prime duty to reduce the wastage as far as possible. This could save energy thats required to produce it, the resources required to manufacture it, etc.

REUSE:

There are some things that can be reused, instead of buying new one. For instance, you can carry cloth bag from home and avoid taking plastic bags from the shop, this could will reduce the problem of pollution caused by plastics and will save huge amount of energy and resources.

RECYCLE:

Most of the solid wastes are dumped in the open spaces. These contains all sorts of solid wastes varying from the domestic waste to industrial wastes. These includes metals, glass, some plastics, which can be recycled. These can be recycled and can easily be used for some other purpose. This way we can save both energy & resources.

Hey friends this all seems to be very small thing, but if everyone of us follow there will be tremendous change that will be seen. So to save our earth everyone has to contribute there level best.
