to be on in the month of November. Thanks to Testimony Radio in CA for having me on this Friday. Of course my home town paper for a great story yesterday.
Thank you for your prayers as Janet and I continue to reach out to people through the book. Cover us with your prayers. The following are more comments about the book. Thank you for your support.

I wanted to let you know how much your book has touched me and opened my eyes. I had not heard of your book until yesterday when a friend emailed me and told me about it, soon I was reading an excerpt on amazon and decided I had to have it. I told my brother about it and he got it on kindle and started reading last night and I had to finish it today.. Could not stop reading and at one point I felt I needed to pray so I did right at my desk at work and I felt an indescribable peace come over me and it’s still with me. This is an incredible story and everyone I have talked to today I have told them to read this as well. Thank you for sharing this story Bill… Truly amazing and the feeling of how great God is and his love for us. This book has changed how I see things and what I should do and has helped with the despair I have felt since my husband died this past April.

Just finished the book. All I can say is Wow! Reading this has certainly opened my spiritual eyes, to say the least. This book has also been a giant faith-builder. I’ve fallen more in love with Jesus and understand better the magnitude of His great love for us. Thank you Bill for having the courage to relive these memories so you could share your experience with us on paper!

Love this book! It is the SCARIEST thing I have ever read. Made me think about things in my house (that are no longer there) as well as the strength of faith and the power of our God. It truely is amazing. You will surely be blessed for touching so many lives with your story as well as during it. Thank you for writing it and I will pray for you and your continued protection as well as for this book to reach all the hands that really need to read it!

Well, after hearing the radio interview I headed over to Barnes & Noble to download the book for my nook (which was a super fast way to get it!) on the release date. It was a very intense read for me, full of suspense and surprise. It reveals a clear picture of the spiritual warfare that we face on a daily basis. A reminder to stay dressed in the full armor of God and keep your eyes on Jesus Christ. A clear look into the importance of staying strong in your faith in Christ when intimidations and fears of our soul enemy manifest. I would recommend this one without hesitation.

Thank you for your prayers and helping to spread the word about the book. It’s making an impact on many through the power of Christ.

God bless,

______________________________________________

I bought this book the first day it was available for the Kindle and am so glad I did. Even though I can’t say I know very much about the evil side of the spiritual world, I have always beleived it is here around us each and every day. As others have written, I can’t imagine what Mr. Scott and his wife went through, but I am so thankful for him sharing his story–it makes one open their eyes to things most people don’t believe is real or else they prefer to ignore it. I am a firm beleiver in the power of prayer and I was praying the whole time I was reading this book. Great book and thank you for telling your story Mr. Scott; I enjoyed reading it even though I was scared the whole time…it was well worth it!

_______________________________________________

I got your book at Wal-Mart today. Not exactly where I expected to find a book on true encounters of exorcism, but HEY.. so glad that I did. Finished it in one sitting. I recommend this to every Christian. Life-changing.A man’s recounting 18 months of terror.

_______________________________________________
It was hard for me to believe that the stuff in this book actually happened. After movies like Paranormal Activity and The Last Exorcism, I felt skeptical. Surely this was the result of someone’s imagination following the fad of these supernatural films.

Brian Scott received a phone call about 20 years ago from a woman claiming to be in danger of a Halloween sacrifice. During this phone call, he encounters a demonic voice. Scott believes he needs to help this girl out.

Once they make contact, Scott and his wife invite the girl, Roxanne, to live with them in their house. This is when the terrifying events take off. Whenever the sun goes down, Scott and his wife are in bed, the fear seems to leap out of the pages.

I did not read this book at night. There is no way I would have felt comfortable with this kind of material. I mean, who is seriously comfortable reading about demonic activity?

I like that Scott does not try to be a theologian. In fact, there are many times where he explains his confusion with what actually happened compared to what he “thought” he knew about demons and exorcisms.

There is a nice “twist” at the end to complete the authenticity of this terribly sad story.

______________________________________________

I learned a lot about the two kingdoms of this world. Hard to believe that these battles are real, but they are.
Thanks for writing the book and sharing your struggle.

______________________________________________

I just finished reading the Kindle edition of the book (saw info about the book on the DAB Facebook page). Because of the subject matter, it is hard to say I “loved” the book. It is not a subject to love, but I did love reading your experience, if that makes sense, and I’m glad you wrote it. I believe demons are very real, and I don’t think the majority of us take this subject serious enough. I have already recommended it to others!

______________________________________________

I urge you to pick up a copy of my friend Bill Scott’s new book The Day Satan Called. It’s a fascinating look at how God will use us, even in our weaknesses, to bring hope and freedom to those that need it the most. it is a FANTASTIC read!!

BOOK REVIEW: We live in a culture that is skeptical of most things spiritual – but that can’t seem to get enough of dark, scary movies and books – fromRosemary’s Baby to The Exorcist and a host of annual releases. So what more can be said about demons and evil spirits?

I will establish up front that I am friends with the author of The Day Satan Called and worked with him a bit on the development of the project. But that doesn’t mean I can’t be a raving fan and recognize some special contributions Bill has made through this book, does it?

I met Bill Scott and his wife Janet about a year ago to discuss a couple publishing projects they needed to work on for an organization for youth they founded and run. In the course of the conversation Bill mentioned off-handedly that he had written a manuscript (with more than a little help from Janet) of his experience with a … witch … who he had invited to live in his home in order to help her … okay. Suffice it to say I watched Bill just a little more closely to see what kind of guy he really was. What I noticed then and have seen confirmed over and over in the subsequent year is that Bill is direct and honest to a fault. I took the manuscript home and was transfixed – and terrified. That’s the first thing I would say about The Day Satan Called - it is a well-written, fast-paced, entertaining, and incredibly scary story. Bill seems to take you to the edge of the cliff at the end of every chapter. About the time you think what he lived through couldn’t get worse – it does.

I’m not going to give away any spoilers, but I’ll note that the book has a totally unexpected ending. The story is great but it is Bill’s observations that make this book special. In the process of looking back at how things started and ended, Bill asks and answers some poignant questions about demon possession: is it related to multiple personality disorder (MPD) – sometimes? All of the time? How much of what is called demon possession is someone’s personal fantasy or even a con game? Or both? How prevalent is demon possession in our society and how concerned should we be? With all the temptations in the world that seem to work so well with so many, why would Satan even bother with possessing of some people? Can a Christian be demon possessed – or in the case of a person suffering from MPD, can one personality be redeemed and another personality be possessed?

I mentioned that Bill is honest and direct. He doesn’t claim to know all the answers to those and other questions, but he does a great job of presenting what happened to him – even the parts that are personally embarrassing and he’d rather forget – and reaffirming the scripture: “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). – Mark

BOOK REVIEW: Your book was delivered yesterday, I started reading this morning and I’m already a little over halfway through. Mind you, I was at work all day shipping medical supplies. I have had goosebumps throughout the whole book so far and have almost cried in a couple spots. I can picture myself right there with you the way you have written this book. Excellent so far, and very eye-opening to what could happen at any time to any of us by not being vigilant or not having the knowledge to protect ourselves. - Tiffany

BOOK REVIEW: This is a true, unapologetic, uncompromising testimony from a man of God who has experienced biblical truths of what God has taught us about evil and the demonic realm. I love how author Bill Scott writes with such humility and describes the accounts with accumulating several perspectives from his friends and family.

This is a great testimony of God’s power over spiritual wickedness and principalities…and satan himself. Reading this book is challenging as it taps into our spiritual and our core fear as human beings, but it sure will make the believers and followers of Christ more aware of realities they probably had not considered nor experienced before. That’s why this true account must be read, even by people of doubt…as it will increase faith in anyone. Brilliant testimony and scary as hell itself. It certainly ignited a fire in my faith. Now I’m aware of how crucial it is for ALL to know the TRUTH of God. For there is no other Truth.

I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to know what truth is and to whoever feels an urge to wake from this matrix that we call life.

BOOK REVIEW: I’m starting chapter 13 and can’t tell you the feelings I’m having just reading it. Feelings that I’m glad I read it Feelings that I’m not sure I wanted to know/hear that things like this are SO real to real people. Even feelings of my skin crawling when I read your encounters I feel like I have been more aware since starting the book of the spiritual battle that is/could be right before us every day.

BOOK REVIEW: The Day Satan Called is fascinating, scary and eye opening. These are things I’ve heard about but not in a long time. I agree with so much of Bill’s evaluation of the events. Reading the book weirded me out a little. So I ate an entire jar of Nutela spoon full by spoon full as I read the book. It scare me, sorta. I know who I am in Christ and I know Satan is a lair. I am thrilled with the light of Jesus Christ that we live in.

BOOK REVIEW:

I finished The Day Satan Called (proof copy) LATE last night. I couldn’t put it down! The end was not what I expected… but then, I’m not sure what I was expecting.lol

Bill, your writing is interesting, compelling, AND encouraging. I realize it seems strange to say that a book about encountering demons is “encouraging”. The information and your open account of what happened have helped me understand some events in my family’s lives. If God is using us to bring light to the world and encourage His family, we’re a threat to the enemy. If you’re a threat to the enemy, he’s gonna try to make your life miserable. A friend often used this phrase, “If you’re taking flack, you’re over the target.” So, it’s OK… greater is He that is in me…!!

That’s the encouragement your book left with me. Thank you for writing it! I’ll be buying extra copies to give to friends!

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13

The book can be ordered everywhere and available at stores on Tuesday.

Hard to believe the book comes out this Tuesday, October 11th. Two years Janet and I have been working on this book. It almost doesn’t seem possible and yet I have a book setting next to me here on the plane.

As I type this blog Janet and I are on our way to Los Angeles to tape a couple of programs for the TBN TV Network and JCTV Network. Next week I am doing a number of radio interviews, an authors night from the WindFarm Cafe which you can stream live and actually ask questions at dailyaudiobible.com. (CLICK on the WindFarm banner.) Next week I have an interview set up in the UK as well, that should be exciting.

I had the chance to talk with some of the staff at the CornerStone TV Network in PA, it looks like I’ll be a guest on one of their programs in the near future. It’s tough to work out all the dates, travel etc… God is good and I am sure the schedule will work out some how.

Here is what I need you to do at this point if you would.

Pray that the message of this book touches hearts.

Pray for safe travel.

Pray for God’s favor on getting the right interviews.

Please share about the book on Tuesday October 11th, through FaceBook, Twitter, text, email or any other way you can.

Pray for my family to be covered by God’s protection as I talk about the freedom God offers and share my story.

Thank you so much for being so supportive with your prayers and getting the word out. I’ll post actual TV shows and times so you can watch if you desire. Don’t forget about Friday October 14th for the WindFarm event. You can watch live on your computer and ask questions.

God bless,

The title is something to make you go uhmm? Why would I post something like that? Very good question. From the top I do believe Satan is real. However, I have been told that I am silly for talking about spiritual warfare. I have had Christian media tell me they don’t talk about such things as spiritual warfare, Satan or the battle that every Christian faces on a daily basis.

1 Peter 5:8

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Sounds like God is giving us a warning in this passage. We are to be alert. There is an enemy and he is seeking someone to destroy. Janet and I visited Kenya and had the privilege to go on a Safari. It was very tough to spot a lion. They blended in with the fields. You could actually walk within a couple of feet of a lion and never see them. A loin is patient, laying low, watching for the perfect opportunity to make it’s kill. They are hoping the animal they are stalking doesn’t even know the attack is about to happen. This is what the Bible says about Satan. Satan is patient. He will wait for you to be wounded, tired and not aware he is around and then he strikes.

Why do you think it is people don’t want to talk about Satan and the battle Christian’s are facing? I had a person in radio once say that it isn’t something someone wants to hear over breakfast, however, watching your spouse walk out the door never to return isn’t something that pleasant either. The person who wakes up too depressed to get out of bed because they are losing the battle isn’t having a good breakfast either. Truth is something that is received and can turn a bad day into a good one. Individuals are seeking answers to why they are struggling so bad. Why they have so many fights during one day. Why there isn’t peace within their family.

There is a real Satan and the Bible warns us to be ready to fight. I don’t think most individuals are brought down by hearing the truth. I have seen the opposite in most of the responses that I have received. People now realizing there is a battle and they can have victory.

Ephesians 6:10-17

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against [e]flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15 and havingshod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; 16 [f]in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows ofthe evil one. 17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The battle is coming and we need to be prepared. Thank God he has given us the weapons we need to win when the attack hits our family. I don’t think this is bad news and depressing news but a message of victory and hope.

I am very excited for my new book to hit stores October 11th. I believe it will open the eyes of so many Christians that don’t even know there is a battle for their family. The book The Day Satan Called is something I believe will be a life changer for many. I heard from a young mom who told me she heard about the book on the radio this week. She is a practicing witch along with her daughter. She told me this has gone on for many generations. It looks as though she is ready to break the cycle and begin a journey with Christ. She can already see there is a battle over making this decision. I encouraged her that with God victory is hers. I don’t know about you but I need to hear that on a daily basis. I can win the battle, I am victorious, I can have the strength it takes through Christ to live my life free of Satan’s strongholds.

my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

Keep this verse in mind as I share a mind-blowing story with you today. Remember nothing has to be scary as we walk in Christ.

A few years ago a friend of mine called me. This man spoke on a national basis as a minister. He knew that I had dwelt with some demonic things in the past. I am not so certain that he believed my stories, at least until now. My friend had moved into a new home, at least new to them, the home itself was built-in the 1800’s. As the family moved in, weird things began to happen. They experienced things they didn’t even know could happen in a home, much less a Christian’s home. I could hear in his voice that this was serious, that something had him really concerned and perhaps even scared. I began to ask questions as to what was going on. He just blurted out, “my house is haunted.” Needless to say I was surprised. We had talked a few times about how my home was haunted years ago and to be honest I am not sure he believed it. I’ll give him credit, I am not sure I would believe him either if I hadn’t actually experienced this myself. I began to ask questions. Do you feel something? Hear something? See something? What’s going on in your home that makes you actually think it’s haunted. He said you can hear people walking on the wooden floors, up and down the hallways at night. It sounds like soldiers boots. Doors open and close. We have even seen soldiers late at night walking through our home. You could tell he was in disbelief even as he shared these bazar things that were going on in his home. He continued to tell me one story after another. He said Bill, we have four workers that are here during the day working on restoring our home. They looked up and an old lady from the 1800’s was rocking in a chair watching the guys work. The men were stunned. She got up and walked into the bathroom. One guy followed her only to find an empty bathroom when he arrived. A dog came with the house which the family kept. My friend would put him out every night and every morning the dog was found laying next to the fireplace. This happened for a couple of months. soldiers, old people sitting in chairs, doors opening and closing at night along with other things. As you can imagine this was getting old for my friend’s family and the workers that saw these things on a regular basis. One day the carpenters were finishing a room where they were putting down the finish to a hardwood floor. They were almost finished when they heard a loud bang. They looked up and saw a huge foot print in the middle of the floor. The carpenter who was on his knees finishing the floor yelled out I have had it with you! He felt something push him from behind to the floor and then heard feet stomping like crazy. When he looked up the new finished floor had foot marks all over the floor. It ruined the floor which had to be redone – again. My friend invited me over to look at it, my guess is he felt no one would ever believe this. I believed him before arriving to his house but indeed it was more than amazing to see it in person. My friend told me this had to stop. We can not live with this kind of demonic activity in our home. Nor should you I told him. I don’t know what happened in this house before you moved in but something demonic happened and it’s opened doors for all of this to happen. The good news is we don’t have to live in fear, we can take control, clean the house of any spirits and claim it as yours with the authority of Christ. I explained to my friend what needed to be done in order to bring this activity to an end. Janet and I do this every time we buy a home or even rent a home. You never know what has been there before you. As a believer you can make sure things are clean and that you can live in peace. My friend experienced a clean home once we were done. To the best of my knowledge there has been no more activity in his home once we went through and cleansed the property.

Now let’s go back to our opening verse.

Hosea 4:6 (NIV), my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

Satan doesn’t care if you know how to battle him. He will continue to haunt you, torment you and continue to weigh you down in every area of your life. It is up to us to study the Word and learn how to fight Satan. Spiritual warfare is real and you can lose if you don’t know what you are doing. We can be destroyed because we haven’t spent the time to learn what it takes to have victory through Jesus Christ. Your family has a huge stake on what you are learning or not learning. My friend would still be living in this haunted home if he didn’t take authority over the spirit and clean his home spiritually.

You might not have a home where things go bump in the night. Thank God if your home is not like that. However, keep an eye out for the unseen battle. Do you see fights taking place in your home, an unrest, a theme of rebellion etc… Begin to look at life through your spiritual eyes. Yes, we can make some dumb decisions, yes people can do stupid things but don’t discount that Satan is also wanting to work against your family as well.

The good news is we can have victory in our life in every area. Let’s make sure we have the knowledge that we need to overcome!

God bless

Bill Scott

There are many battles that find us in life. Some of the battles we create by making bad decisions, others come our way simply because Satan would like to see us stumble and fall. God has given you the tools to succeed and win the different battles that you and your family are facing.

I was reading Ephesians chapter 1 today in the Message version of the Bible and it really touched my heart, I am assuming it will do the same for you.

I am just going to give you a few verses from this awesome chapter.

Ephesians 1: 3-14 (MSG)

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he[b] predestined us for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he[d] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

11 In him we were also chosen,[e] having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

I love the fact that God decided to give us every spiritual blessing and that he chose us before the creation of the world. How crazy is that? No doubt you have days as I do wondering if God really has my life under control? At times things seem to be so out of control and yet this verse talks about how God had me in mind before creating the earth. I guess that reenforces the fact that He is not winging it when it comes to the plans for my life. Nothing has caught God by surprised, me perhaps but not God.

I love the word adoption that is used in the passage. I know how special adoption is. My older brother was adopted into our family and my son Ryan is adopted. I chose to make Ryan my son and give him all that I have. No one made me do it. I wasn’t stuck with Ryan, I chose him. God chose you, He delights in you and is crazy about you.

We have all done some dumb things and have chosen to rebel against God at times in our life. Through the blood of Christ all of us now have redemption. We don’t have to live under sin. We can get up and see the victory in our life that God has put into place. We have been given what we need to see victory.

God has promised all of us victory. What are you doing today to make sure you walk in victory? We have to first know what it looks like to walk in victory right? That is why its so important to study the Word on a regular basis. God has left you every spiritual blessing, now it’s time to dig in and find out what those blessings are.

Perhaps today you are struggling with the battle of your life. You might be reading all of this because you woke up this morning really wondering if you can see victory in your lifetime. Take time to read this full chapter. You’ll find comfort and the answer to the question you rolled out of bed with this morning.

If you have time check out some of my other blogs that talk about the battle we all face and how to win. Here is the good news, God has chosen you to win this battle and receive victory. Don’t give up. Take it one day at a time. If you haven’t done so as of yet, begin spending time in the Word daily. If it’s easier to listen to someone reading the Bible, than join my friend Brian daily at the dailyaudiobible.com. He’ll take you through the whole Bible in a years time. It’s a wonderful community of believers going through God’s Word.

Janet and I would like to thank you for praying for our new book that comes out October 11th. We believe The Day Satan Called will reach many people with God’s message. If you would like to read the first chapter, you can by signing up to the left of this blog.

Please share this blog today with a friend and leave a comment.

God bless,

Try to follow me on this if possible. What if King David went to your church? What if King David was a leader in your church? Lets go one step further, what if King David were your pastor? Ok, now that you have this picture in your mind, hold on to that. Lets look at who King David was.

King David is a warrior. He is a man’s man. From a young boy he was ready for battle. David killed a lion and bear with his own hands. No doubt few could brag about such an encounter, yet one that was won. David was the young man who killed Goliath with only a sling and a stone. David was a man of faith and strength. Now fast forward to when David was King David.

2 Samuel 11:1 NIV, It was spring. It was the time when kings go off to war. So David sent Joab out with the king’s special troops and the whole army of Israel. They destroyed the Ammonites. They went to the city of Rabbah. They surrounded it and got ready to attack it. But David remained in Jerusalem.

King David began this verse by making a poor choice. He was to be at war. Neglecting his duty led to his temptation. Matthew Henry said, “When we are out of the way of our duty, we are in temptation.” Needless to say while being home he was not worried about battle.

2 Samuel 11:2 NIV, One evening David got up from his bed. He walked around on the roof of his palace. From the roof he saw a woman taking a bath. She was very beautiful.

I love how Matthew Henry said it in his commentary, “Giving way to sin hardens the heart, and provokes the departure of the Holy Spirit. Robbing a man of his reason, is worse than robbing him of his money; and drawing him into sin, is worse that drawing him into any worldly trouble whatever.” This is when it all began. David had someone bring him this young lady and he slept with her. Long story short he got her pregnant. David called for Uriah her husband to return from the battle hoping he would sleep with his wife once he returned home. Uriah didn’t want to sleep with her because his buddies were still in battle. David’s plan was spoiled by this not happening. David didn’t want to be found out as being the father so he sent Uriah back to battle and made sure he was on the frontline, assuring his death.

Amazing that this unbelievable leader has fallen so far. He committed adultery, got someone else’s wife pregnant and than murdered her husband.

Nathan the prophet comes to David sharing with him the Lord knew his secret sin and that his son would die because of this. God shows how much he hates sin, even in his own people; he will not let it go unpunished. I love the fact that David doesn’t say a word to excuse himself or make light of his sin, but freely owns it. David simply said, I have sinned, and Nathan believed him. There are consenquences for our sins. David also had to endure many days and years of extreme distress.

All of us love the fact that after David repented of his sin, God said that David was a man after His own heart. I believe we love this so much because it gives us hope for the sin we have committed in our own lives. We all want God to say we are a man or woman after his own heart at the end of the day.

So back to the picture we had as King David being our pastor. Not all but many would have excommunicated David. Sure he was repenting of his sin but we cannot have a leader that is so evil right? We all agree that sin comes with payment required but many times we really cannot conceive of the leader in our life being restored. There are times the church needs to discipline but not discard.

I love the fact that God kept David as king. David was restored to a man after God’s own heart. But how many times have we seen leaders thrown away in our churches due to sin? A lot of us don’t want to see them restored back to leadership but some how moved on and the sin covered. I have seen some rare cases in which a church has walked through restoration with a leader that was repentant and it was amazing to see someone walking again in their calling.

Galatians 6:1, Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently.

Paul who wrote this passage was bringing the Galatians up to speed on responsibilities of those who are spiritual and how they are directly related to the problem of division in the Galatian churches. Paul describes the problem in the churches, he speaks of “biting and devouring each other” and “provoking and envying each other along with false teachers etc… Paul’s list of responsibilities in this section shows how those who are truly led by the Spirit can bring healing and unity in their divided churches. These responsibilities are both for the church body and individuals.

1. corporate: restore him gently

2. individual: watch yourself

3. corporate: carry each other’s burdens

4. individual: each one should test his own actions…each one should carry his load

5. corporate: share all good things with his instructor

6. individual: do not be deceived…a man reaps what he sows

7. corporate: do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers which includes restoring sinners

I love the fact that Paul points out the first responsibility of those who claim to be spiritual is the restoration of one who has sinned. I believe Paul puts it this way, if someone is caught in a sin, is framed in such a way as to point to the high probability that members of the church will sin. Having a leader sin or anyone for that matter is not hypothetical possibility, it’s reality. The sin that Paul is talking about is never mentioned, that wasn’t the point, it was the manner is which someone who had sinned was treated in sin itself.

Back in this time period the zealots for the law were merciless to sinners. But Paul wants to show that the occasion of sin is the opportunity for Spirit-led people to display the fruit of the Spirit in order to bring healing to those that have fallen and unity in the church.

I experienced a time in my life as a leader when I fell. I decided to live in rebellion and to make poor choices. It’s impossible to make good choices while in the state of rebellion. I fell big time. I lost my ministry, family, friends and all that was important to me. I was repentive and so much wanted to be restored. Most of those close to me ran for the hills, many to never be heard from again. Finding a restoration program was not easy. Finally I was able to find someone to lead me through a restoration process about eight hours from where I lived. Having someone believe in me and realize that God’s calling on my life wasn’t over was an amazing event in my life. Now you understand why I am so passionate about this topic.

Like David I also want to be a man after God’s own heart. So the next time a leader falls in your life like King David did, gently restore them. Walk with an individual who has sinned and guide them through restoration. Do not discard and a leader but restore them. They will be more powerful than ever after experiencing God’s healing, restoration and grace.

God bless,

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

We must be ready for battle. So many Christians don’t look at spiritual warfare as something they are involved in.

It takes discipline in order to be ready to experience victory in spiritual warfare. The exercise of discipline is never an easy matter. I’ve been jogging over the last few months and it’s been painful. I have been tempted many times to stop exercising. We must discipline ourselves to be ready for battle, spiritual battle. It’s not if battle will come but when.

In the above portion of scripture Paul is writing to the Corinthians. Paul is not trying to scare the Corinthians. He takes great pain to reassure his readers that he approaches them as Christ himself would. Paul is very bold. Paul says, “We do live in the flesh [en sarki],” he admits. This is the everyday world of human existence with all of the limitations, frustration, tests, troubles that we face. Paul is talking about everyday normal life.

I read an article the other day about war. During the later years of the Great Depression, the American people were faced with mobilizing themselves for a second world war. They rationed their butter, meat, gasoline and other basic items. With the money they had left after purchasing their necessities of life, they paid wartime taxes and bought war bonds to provide even more funds for mobilization. They also sent hundreds of thousands of their finest youth abroad. Paul sees himself in pretty much the same kind of war effort. In Paul’s case it’s a battle being fought on a spiritual front. As you can imagine, spiritual warfare requires spiritual weaponry which Paul is all about. What distinguishes Paul’s weapons from those of the world can be summed up in one word–power (dynatos). Paul’s weapons have divine power and, as a result are far more powerful than anything that is found in the world. One powerful weapon we have as Christians would be the Holy Spirit. I would also include “truth,” “righteousness,” “the gospel of peace,” “faith,” “salvation” and “the Spirit,” put on as the Christian’s armor in Ephesians 6:13-17 that we have talked about in earlier blogs I have written.

The weapons Paul is using are effective. They can demolish strongholds. Ochyrwma is a military term for a “fortified place.” The picture is of an army attacking and tearing down the fortified defenses of the enemy. In the ancient world a prosperous city would build not only a stout wall for its security but also, somewhere inside the wall, a fortified tower that could be defended by relatively few soldiers if the walls of the city were breached by an enemy. Once the stronghold was taken, the battle was over.

I love the fact that Paul’s weapons not only can demolish strongholds but can help us take every thought captive that comes our way so we are obedient to Christ. The verb aichmalwtizw means “to take a prisoner of war.” A lot of the battle that we are facing or will face often comes in our minds. A great book to check out is “Battlefield of The Mind.”

In this day and age the mind is really down played and the needs of an individual elevated. You may have heard this generation is often referred to as “the me generation.” It’s time to put our flesh behind us and reach out to God. We can only do this as we learn discipline and get ready for spiritual warfare. It’s most important to discipline ourselves to be in the Word on a daily basis. In order to do this it’s no longer all about you. You must give up things to study the Word of God. There is no other way to be ready for battle. Reading the Word and praying really are a huge part of getting ready for battle.

Your choice today will not only impact you but your spouse, children and grandchildren. Are you ready to train for battle? We are in the war together but here is the good news, God has promised us victory. You can win the battle in Jesus name.

God bless,

Over the past few months I have been getting back into shape by jogging. This is huge for me. You must understand I have taken an exercise break since the Ronald Regan administration. I began with the program Couch to 5K. After that I began training for my 10K. I continue to amaze myself by how far I can run, this coming from a guy who had a hard time running a mile back in high school.

I realize, in order to stay healthy my body needs to exercise. Is there pain in getting my body into shape? Yea, big time. I cannot tell you how sore I have been at times. However, I can see my body getting stronger every week.

We need to get into shape spiritually. It’s not a matter of if Satan will attack, it’s when. If we are not prepared we are going to fall flat on our face. I was watching TV this morning. It was the Navy Seals training camp program. They were pushing these guys to their very limits and beyond. They know the battle is coming and if these guys are not in the best shape, they will be killed.

Not every hardship that comes our way is demonic. We live in an imperfect world. I will tell you there are a lot more attacks coming from Satan than we might want to admit to ourselves.

Ephesians 6:10-13

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Janet and I have challenged each other to spend more time in the Word than ever before. We realize with the new book coming out in October and both of us doing more ministry, that we are under attack. We both need to be in shape spiritually. Why would you ever think you could go out and run a marathon of 26 miles if you hadn’t run a mile yet? Why do we feel we can stand up to Satan’s attacks when we haven’t even put on the armor of God yet?

This week I am encouraging you to step it up. Get ready for the attack that is coming. The victory is yours if you are in shape spiritually. There are a number of things you can do to get into shape, I’ll give you three today.

1. Spend time daily in the Word of God.

2. Spend time daily in prayer with God.

3. Find a small group of believers that you can walk with.

That might sound to simple but I promise you’ll see results. Ladies feel free to sign up for Janet’s daily Bible study at ChocolateandGod.com. Men, grab a devotional or your Bible and start reading something daily.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

All of us need to take the battle we are in more seriously if we are going to see the victory we desire. The race can be run but we need to get into shape. Lets begin today.

If you are encouraged, please leave a quick note that you’ll join Janet and I getting into shape spiritually. We would love to have you join us.

Check out my new book coming out October 11th. The Day Satan Called. I would love to have you read it. For a FREE CHAPTER click HERE.
