When I was a little girl, I just loved Crockett Johnson’s “Harold and the Purple Crayon”. Imagine being able to create the world around you with a simple crayon! I dreamt of the places I’d go if I ever got my hands on such a thing. So far, my only trips have been in my imagination. But I thought it would be fun to recreate a few of Harold’s adventures with my eldest this week. What a blast!

It’s been kinda quiet on this blog lately, but it’s been far from quiet at home! We welcomed our second baby home a few weeks ago. Boy, are we blessed. Rowan and his older brother, Graham, are such glorious gifts. I thought I’d share a few shots of Rowan’s earliest days.

Katelyn and I had such a good time at our shoot the other day that we decided to do a little repeat! This time, we focused on her musical talent, as Katelyn is a gifted euphonium player and vocalist.

Conveying someone’s voice in a photo is a bit of a challenge, so we played with some confetti here to represent music flowing from her lips. (Heart shaped music confetti, mind!)

Here’s how it looked in action!

After that, we headed to a little field and scared away all the grasshoppers to grab a few meadow-y shots.

I absolutely adore this one.

I could do this over and over again! Have a senior who needs photos? Send her (or him) my way!

I recently jumped at the chance to try something new–new to me, anyway–senior portraits! And my first subject was the lovely Katelyn. She made the session so easy and fun. And I was blown away when I took a look at the photos we captured. She’s a natural! Take a look!

I think this last one is my favorite. At the end of a stormy, humid day, she looks fresh and beautiful, as if we’ve been shooting on a perfect day at the beach (the only water nearby was in the puddles that were drying up!).
