"Acting is not pretending or lying. It’s finding a side of yourself that’s the character and ignoring your other sides. And there’s a side of me that wonders what’s wrong with being completely honest."
-Angelina Jolie

Raised mostly by her mother after her parents divorced while she was still a baby, Jolie moved around a lot with her mother and brother. She also did a fair amount of traveling as a professional model, living in such places as London, New York, and Los Angeles before settling for a time in New York as a student at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and New York University, where she first started acting in theater productions. The fledgling actress soon moved on to film with a small role in 1993's Cyborg 2, followed in 1995 by her turn as a computer hacker in the more widely seen Hackers. The film gave her her first taste of recognition, as well as an introduction to Trainspotting's Jonny Lee Miller, to whom she was married for a short time.
After appearing in a number of mediocre films, Jolie finally hit it big in 1997 with her Golden Globe-winning performance as George Wallace's wife in the highly acclaimed TV movie George Wallace. The role, coupled with her Emmy-nominated performance in the title role of HBO's Gia, provided Jolie with a new level of professional respect and recognition. She was soon appearing on talk shows and in magazines, answering questions about everything from her multiple tattoos to her famous father to her brief marriage.
She was also netting roles in high-profile projects: In 1998 Jolie headlined an ensemble cast that included Sean Connery, Gena Rowlands, Anthony Edwards, Gillian Anderson, Ryan Phillippe, and Madeline Stowe in Playing By Heart. The following year, she was part of another high-voltage cast in Mike Newell's Pushing Tin, co-starring alongside John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and Cate Blanchett. Although the film was neither a critical nor a financial success, it did little to diminish the rapid ascent of the career of the actress, who was in hot demand for projects that would further elevate her already rising star. In 2000, Jolie's star received one of its greatest boosts to date when the actress won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of a volatile mental patient in Girl, Interrupted. Later that year, her personal life also got a boost in the form of her April marriage to Billy Bob Thornton.
Onscreen, Jolie was hard to miss in 2000. She starred in a number of films, including the crime thriller Gone in Sixty Seconds, in which she co-starred as a car thief alongside Nicolas Cage, and Original Sin, a thriller that featured her as the bad-seed bride of a Cuban tycoon (Antonio Banderas). If she was hard to miss in 2000, Jolie was impossible to escape in 2001 with her turn as shapely video-game adventuress Lara Croft in the long anticipated film adaptation of the popular Tomb Raider video-game franchise. Carrying on the tradition of video-game movies that are light on plot but heavy on the action, Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life (2003) scored with summer audiences and quickly shot to number one at the box office despite disparaging reviews citing an incoherent story line, unlike Life or Something Like It, the 2002 romantic comedy-drama that critics and audiences alike would rather not have seen.
On July 18th, 2002, Jolie filed for divorce from Billy Bob Thornton, claiming that their priorities no longer meshed after having adopted a child. Though the famously quirky couple were no longer, Angelina's film schedule remained hectic. In 2003 she would play a rich-girl-turned-humanitarian in Beyond Borders, while 2004 promised a host of parts for Jolie, including a role in Oliver Stone's Alexander; an epic biography of Alexander the Great starring Colin Farrell, as well as a role alongside fellow Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow in The World of Tomorrow, and a turn as a tough FBI agent in Taking Lives. She has since adopted several more children and became involved with leading man Brad Pitt, who fathered her daughter Shiloh.

Mini Biography

Born in Mumbai, India, on 17th December 1972, John Abraham is one of the most successful male models in India. His father is a Christian from Aluva, Kerala, and his mother is a Zoroastrian Parsi. Being Catholic, his father added the name Abraham to his son John as a mark of respect to the first patriarch and progenitor of the Hebrew people in the Bible.

That name gave him a noted stand when he entered the modeling field. His revolutionary looks, macho body, baby smiles, and nice character made him the highest-paid supermodel in India. Being a hot star in the modeling world, he made his film debut in 2003. Not like usual Bollywood heroes who debut in male-oriented action features, he accepted the erotic and emotional Jism (2003). Unfortunately the film did not do well, but his work was noticed widely. Later the same year came the paranormal Saaya (2003) and romantic Paap (2003), neither of which did well at box office.

His first blockbuster smash hit came in the year 2004 when he played the antihero Kabir in Dhoom (2004).

"I don't have a problem being labeled a sex symbol though I personally don't feel very sexy about myself. There's no harm in my creating a niche for myself in a certain bracket."

"My greatest strength as an actor is that I follow my director's brief completely. The film is always the director's visual baby."

"I have no inhibitions when it comes to showing off my physique, but appearing nude on screen is out of the question. I don't need to resort to it and definitely not at this stage of my career."

Fardeen Khan

2009-09-29T16:29:00.002+06:00

Attractive and charismatic, when Fardeen Khan arrived at the acting scene he slipped into his roles easily. It helped that his family has been such a big part of movies. A tryst with cocaine and bad publicity later his fans saw less of him but with a good line-up of releases in 2009, he seems to be picking up where he left off.

Basics on Fardeen
Fardeen Khan was born on 8th March 1974 to Sundari and Feroz Khan. His father is an actor turned director. His uncle Sanjay Khan was also an actor. His cousin Zayed Khan recently moved into acting while his cousin Susanne Khan’s husband is Hrithik Roshan.

2002 to 2005 The movies that followed were average performers and some were outright flops like Om Jai Jagadish (2002), Khushi (2003), and Fida (2004). Bhoot (2003) and Dev (2004) were on the successful side.

2006 to 2009 In the comedy Heyy Babyy (2007) Fardeen Khan was seen with Aftab Shivdasani and Ritesh Deshmukh. The movie was quite successful.

His movies in 2009 are Qurbani, Dulha Mil Gaya, Acid Factory, Life Partner and Jai Veeru.

Ajay Devgan

2009-09-29T16:26:00.002+06:00

Shrouded in an air of melancholy and known for his reticence, Ajay Devgan has spun an allure that makes him stand out in the hustle-bustle of tinsel town, as an award winning actor turned director and producer.

His filmi kahani
1991-1995 Devgan made his debut in Phool Aur Kante opposite Madhoo, winning the Filmfare Best Debut Award. Most of his films, at the start of his career were packed with a generous amount of dishum-dishum, like Jigar and Vijaypath. Mahesh Bhatt’s Naajayaz with Juhi Chawla won him his first nomination for the Filmfare Best Actor Award.
1996-2000 In 1997, he moved away from action with the romcom hit Ishq, which also starred Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla and Kajol. In 1998, he appeared in the Bollywood remake of French Kiss - Pyaar Tho Hona Hi Tha with Kajol. This fell in line among some of the most popular films that year. The same year saw the release of Mahesh Bhatt’s Zakhm, which looked at communal issues in India. The film won several awards including the National Film Award for Devgan’s performance. His most talked about film in 1999 was Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in which he played Vanraj, a man who tries to help his wife get back together with her lover. He was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actor Award. He produced and acted in Raju Chacha in 2000, along with Kajol. However the film made an average hit at the box office.
2001-2005 His role as Bulwa in the major hit Lajja won him a nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor. Ram Gopal Verma’s Company in 2002 based on the underworld had Devgan playing Malik, a gangleader. His performance was praised. However he walked away with the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance and his second National Film Award for his portrayal of the freedon fighter, Bhagat Singh, in Rajkumar Santoshi’s The Legend of Bhagat Singh. In 2003, the audience feasted on films like Ram Gopal Verma’s horror flick Bhoot, Prakash Jha’s Gangaajal and J.P.Dutta’s LOC Kargil. This was followed by some diverse but remarkable performances in Mani Rathnam’s Yuva, in which he played a student leader and Rituparno Ghosh’s Raincoat, which was non-mainstream cinema.
2006-2009 Both his releases in 2006 became major hits. Golmaal, a-laugh-a-minute comedy and Vishal Bharadwaj’s Omkaara, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello. Year 2008 saw the release of U, Me Aur Hum, his directorial debut, in which he acted. He also produced and helped with the script of the film. The film received an average response and was partly inspired by 50 First Dates. The sequel Golmaal Returns, with Devgan playing Gopal, was a high-grosser. Next on his hit list is London Dreams, due for release in 2009, with Salman Khan and Asin.
