Chronicle did relatively well in theatres with a smallish budget. Some of that success comes from Max Landis' script. Son of John Landis, Max paints a believable picture of three high school seniors and their trials and tribulations. However, a crystaline object grants them powers beyond their dreams. More changes occur as the film begins as a coming of age story that transitions into a superhero feature worth seeing.

Steve (Michael B. Jordan) is the popular kid with a wandering eye for the ladies. His greatest difficulty involves avoiding a beligerent girlfriend. Matthew (Alex Russell) is a fun loving guy with a crush on a local blogger. His approach to dating is a little awkward. Andrew (Dane DeHaan) is the most troublesome character. He has to deal...<br/>

Director: Robert Singer.

Writer: Sera Gamble.

Some supernaturally charged television series can age very well like cheese, and others should be discarded when it is starting to look moldy. With how mismanaged "Survival of the Fittest" went in showing who will live and who will die, maybe the boys should consider calling it quits. With Bobby Singer finally moving on, and Dean tossed into Purgatory, just how Sam will cope may be the focus of next season.

Castiel was with Dean when they confronted Dick Roman, and before dying, the Leviathan sent them on a one way trip back to Purgatory! The lone angel may not be able to protect a single Winchester forever. At least the old Cas that viewers grew to love is back. His trademark gravelly voice was sorely missed. Even his counterpart, the

demonic Crowley, shows he has always been heard but not seen.

Ever since this King of Hell revealed that he was captured by Roman, the Winchesters were more than cautious....<br/>

Sometimes injecting new blood into an old favourite, namely Dark Shadows, is not required. The original 60's show ages very well on its own; the 90's version looks like it was introduced to a market not quite ready for vampire fever, and the 2012 product? Twilight is over, and so should the vampire rest.

Tim Burton's directorial attempt at reviving Dark Shadows for a new generation is more like reinvigorating interest than to try something new. Not everyone will want to go delving into exploring the series mythos with the originals. Instead, what this film does is to combine almost everything supernatural plot-wise that defined the television show into nearly two hours.

Not all of them are properly introduced. All Burton did was put his trademark visionary stamp...<br/>

If you read reviews on Steven C. Miller's (Automaton Transfusion) latest, then you will read a lot of comparisons between The Aggression Scale and Home Alone (1990). However, the former is much more violent than the latter and this film fan was reminded of the recent adaptation of I Spit on Your Grave (2010). In both films, young folk are on the run from vicious men and those vicious men find out that youth should not be underestimated. Violence awaits the foolhardy. Overall, Ben Powell's script creates for a tense and bloody time, with some predictability the film's only detriment.

In case you have not heard, The Aggression Scale involves the arrest of a local mob boss (Ray Wise). He is accused of murder and he needs some stolen money to flee the country. Bellavance has no time for the justice system; he just wants his money. So, he sends off Lloyd (Dana Ashbrook), his loyal...<br/>

Hollywood has this fondness for developing what is well known, especially with huge moneymakers, into a movie. From books to comics, the board game world is not often touched. While they have yet to turn "Monopoly" or "Risk" into a viable plot, one particularly fondly played board game made its stamp with the moniker, "You sunk my Battleship!"

For this atypical popcorn action-adventure alien-invasion flick, the movie Battleship does not have a lot of originality.

The film centers on Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch), a slacker-bum who will have to become a hero. He also falls for the Admiral's daughter, Samantha Shane (Brooklyn Decker). When the aliens invade, they are conveniently separated and the two have to work together in order to save the world from this cosmic threat.

Watching this movie brings to the fore recollections of Pearl Harbour,...<br/>

All Dark Places is a mysterious thriller of love, doubt and clowns with killer smiles. Created by Nicholas Reiner (Remedy), All Dark Places takes a look at the strain in a marriage between Jamie (Stephanie Fieger) and Chris (Joshua Burrow). This strain is symbolized by a prose spewing clown who may or may not be a figment of the family's imagination.

The film's protagonist is Christian and the story follows him and his bad decisions. He is a struggling musician with a past full of alcohol fueled benders. He uses cocaine like it is going out of style and Chris' primary means of work involves shady business deals. All of these poor choices makes Jamie doubt Chris and their future together. A roaming clown also doubts Chris, but who is the clown and what does he...<br/>

Plenty of Portland, Oregon talent can be found in Cell Count, a film by Todd E. Freeman, also a native resident. Not only does the movie feature cast members who appeared in NBC's "Grimm," but it also showcases this director's other talents like penning a very thoughtful screenplay.

This movie is set to make its world premiere at the Fantaspoa, the biggest genre film festival of South America, in Porto Alegre, Brazil this weekend. Portuguese subtitles will be added and the directors of this show see tons of potential for this indie film. They are not alone. Among story analysts, they will find that Freeman crafted a product that will tantalize audiences in many ways.

Moody and atmospheric, The Theatre Bizarre is an anthology collection of shorts that journeys through Jacobean style surrealist fringe theatre. This opening narrative may not have the same circus charm as Labyrinth in "Manie Manie" (aka "Neo Tokyo"), an animated product from Japan, but the similar approach is certainly noticeable. Both products convey a sense of unworldliness, and thankfully there is a segment that explores the world through the eyes of a young child, a girl.

"Why are there no Walmarts in Afghanistan? Because, there is a Target on every corner." Sadly, this is as good as the jokes get in John Lyde's Osombie: The Axis of Evil Dead. This reviewer had some hopes that this film would be a little more comedic. After all, the source material involves Osama Bin Laden returned from the dead as a zombie. Unfortunately the film focuses only on some light banter between a squad of American special forces, who are sometimes strangely shirtless. The Osombie needed a devious plan to keep events tense; maybe then, the film would not have shambled about so much.

The film starts off in Pakistan at Osama Bin Laden's final hideout. The American squad goes in by helicopter and they face a horde of the undead. Osama has been playing biological scientist. One of the troops becomes infected and...<br/>

The stakes are high, and nearly everyone in Heaven and Hell is invested in seeing the Leviathans fall in "Supernatural’s" episode, “There Will Be Blood.” While those particular forces are doing nothing (to put themselves in danger), the Winchesters are doing everything. The brothers have a recipe to create a weapon that can kill the Old Ones, as they were once called. That also includes summoning up some old familiar faces from the roster and asking for a favour or two.

Crowley (Mark Sheppard) makes for a great return appearance, and Dick Roman (James Patrick Stuart) finally shines as the calculating villain that he is. In the opening act, he gives audiences a knowing look by breaking the fourth wall. Very rarely will this technique be praised, and it's a beautiful touch by director Guy Bee, before the series title splashes on screen.

When considering the number of months that have passed during this season, the Winchesters...<br/>

In the epic conclusion to "Monocyte," this chaos bringer is tightening the thread that connects life and death together. The silver chain has to be loose, than taut, and once that’s broken, the spiritual movement may finally begin. Monocyte can bring hope for the future of mankind. That is, if Grod or Moses will let him. These two individuals are the last men standing…

Some readers may think that Moses is a fool for standing his ground, but he is a prophet after all. The action is swift, and next, Monocyte goes to confront Azrael. Curiously the One-Eye never gets toe-to-toe against Grod, but to reveal all would be telling.

While this divine behemoth still waxes poetic in the safety of his citadel, even that is about to fall. The humans are rebelling.

Sometimes, the classics should be left alone and allowed to age gracefully. In the case of The Wicker Tree, the die-hards of the original The Wicker Man, expecting a modern take, will be disappointed. Ignoring the Nicolas Cage travesty, this re-imaging of the folk horror tale can be looked at in a different perspective as an analogy of how some missionaries from yesteryears may have been treated when they went out to preach the word of God to the new world.

That is, if converting cultures to a new belief system is considered a crime, the angels in Heaven should be weeping. Free Will is about personal choice, and the horror should come in dealing what results from it. For Adam and Eve, they lost paradise and a direct line to God when they ate from the apple.

In the case of a southern belle from Texas, Beth (Brittania Nicol), and her beau, Steve (Henry Garrett), they are...<br/>

Brandon Routh is one of those actors who shot up the ladder of fame thanks to Superman Returns. In Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, he's a sleuth, another comic-book hero, who tries to be slicker than oil. But he is hardly Dick Tracy as far as how this movie goes.

Some fun can be found with this product, especially with the effects work, but these monsters do not try to stand out. The movie is just as good as The Spirit, and both are catering to a very select market. The colours used on the hero's costume makes for some simple motifs, but unlike previous films, it is not used to great effect. Instead, it is just a schtick, like how Clark Kent wore his clothes in "Smallville."

At the same time, this film does not offer up any good laughs, and the action is flat. The product does not have enough energy to make some viewers want to watch it to...<br/>

Whether you need arrangements to use as centerpieces for dozens of tables or bouquets for a bride and her bridal party to carry, you have several options. One possibility is silk flowers. You can find silk flowers for sale at many local and online retailers, but determining whether they are right for your event takes careful consideration. By finding out the advantages as well as any drawbacks can help you decide if faux is the way to go when it comes to floral arrangements for your big day.

Unlike real flowers, silk ones do not have any type of fragrance. For people with allergies or sensitivities, this can be a big plus. On the other hand, if you like the upsides of silk flowers but wish they did offer a pretty smell, you can have them scented, so they will seem almost real.

This reviewer visibly cringed when he read the title on the latest parcel to enter the 28DLA offices. The package was from Full Moon Pictures and the film inside was The Dead Want Women. So, immediately, you know you are in b-movie territory. Despite director Charles Band's 200+ filmography, he is essentially known, to this reviewer, as producing films that are meant to titillate male audiences (and some females). The barest of plots inhabit films such as Evil Bong and Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt. And The Dead Want Women is no different.

In the film's defence, the early scenes seem well rehearsed and the characterizations seemed thought out. However, it is a downhill slide from here on out. In the first ten minutes, there is a simulated sex scene involving two flapper girls and the scene just seems to go on and on. What is the point of this? And come on...<br/>

Kevin Tran (Osric Chau) is more than your typical overachieving honours student prepping for his SAT. In "Supernatural's" latest, "Reading is Fundamental," he'll soon be the Chosen One, and that’s not because of what he knows. It’s in what he does not that makes this episode an interesting watch. His world is turned upside down because of all the supernatural forces chasing after him, Winchesters included.

But if the angels have their say, he's going to become a hermit and will have to discover the Word of God. Ever since last season's purge, their numbers are few and they are still leaderless.

The return of the angels and demons in the last few episodes should come to be no surprise. Crowley will no doubt appear.

Ever since the Winchesters cracked the clay seal that they have stolen from Dick Roman, they unleashed some kind of cosmic force that needed a keeper (Tran). What they pulled out of the rubble was a mysterious...<br/>

6 Plots is an Australian filmed horror feature. This is also a teen focused horror film as seven friends leave high school for fun in the sun at an isolated cabin. Here, the drugs and alcohol fuel the party while making these seven friends an easy target for a mysterious killer. Chloe awakens to find her friends missing and a strange voicing urging her on. Her friends are hidden beneath the earth and Chloe must choose who lives and who dies. Will anyone escape?

This horror title has already released in Australia. However, a North American release date has not been fixed. For now, a concept poster is available with more bloody details to come, shortly.

If your zombie survival plan involved finding sanctuary on an island, then Dead Season might make you change your mind. Characters Elvis (Scott Peat) and Tweeter (Marissa Merrill) try this plan when the undead are unleashed across the continental United States. They head for an isolated island in the Caribbean, but here they are enrolled in a fight to stay alive. The residents, already there, only have limited supplies, so Elvis and Tweeter must make themselves welcome with machete and bat.

There should be a law banning first time feature filmmakers from using the found footage style of filmmaking. Otherwise, a film such as Area 407 aka Tape 407 is created. This film is basically eighty plus minutes spent with a fourteen year old girl holding a shaky camera. She and her friends love to scream into the microphone while capturing too many shots of people's legs. Keep the camera higher ladies. There is no music to accompany the film and all of the dialogue was ad-libbed over a five day shooting period. Most films are shot between 15 to 20 days, but not this one. Characters stumble through a weak script and Area 407 gets the much deserved Worst Film of 2012 nomination on 28DLA. And this is by far one of the worst films seen by this reviewer this year.
