I came up with this idea after trying to find a way to dress up my curtains and then it hit me to create my own tie backs that gave the the window treatments a touch of primitive flare.

In this pattern I've included all the seasons to give a variety and the fun part is you can change them whenever you like. Included are; ice skates, watermelon, star, little primitive doll and a sunflower. I've have the sunflowers on my curtains right now since fall is here.

I think a set of these would make a great unique gift as well. Especially for someone that loves the country - primitive look.

The pattern is available over on http://www.patternmart.com/ at this link Here or in my Etsy Shop.

Whimsical Primitive Snowman Tags

Hi All!

I finally had a little time to finish up some new tags. Just finished up her and pattern now LOL! In any case, here she is. She can be made as a makedo or with legs. I've included instructions/template for both versions.

It's not very often I do Halloween themed stuff and when I showed my Mom this doll she was like "Ewwww! Luna Pier is a darling little waterfront town we have not to far from where we live and every 4th of July they have a festival of sorts. The entire town is like one giant garage sale. Fun stuff! Anyway, I was telling my girlfriend how I was peturbed at myself for passing up a salesman sample stove I saw at one of the sales. It was identical to one I already have so I guess I was trying to have a practical moment and resisted buying it. Well, I sort of kicked myself afterwards.

Anyway, so I'm browsing Craigslist today and saw this ad with this little mini potbelly stove and immediately emailed the owner. She said she still had it so I stopped by and picked it up on my way to an appointment. It's heavy cast iron and 8 inches tall. It's bigger than I thought it would be. Guess how much I paid for it?....$3 bucks! So getting this little gem sort of made up for my brain burp the other day of not snatching up the other little stove from the sale.

Not sure what it is about stoves that has me so captivated by them but I just love them! I have 3 full size ones in my house; one pot belly and two cook stoves. If my kitchen was larger I would love to have a real antique cook stove and a retro fridge (:

Anyhoo, I feel satisfied now that my obsession has been fed and have the little stove sitting on top of my antique sewing cabinet.

Getting back in the studio

Ahh, I am determined to get back into the studio sometime this week and finish up a couple new dolls I'm working on. It's been awhile since I put out a new pattern so that's one of my goals. I went out there and organized my supplies and cleared off my sewing table. So I have no more excuses LOL!

Those of you that have been waiting...watch for something new shortly (: Here's a sneak peek at one of them I'm working on. I've had so many request for new postcards. I'm glad you all enjoy them. They are pretty fun to send to friends and family in the mail. Just print them on cardstock, write your note on the back, address the front and add a stamp and pop it in the mail. These sort of have a touch of vintage whimsy to them and I really like how they turned out. I really love how they turned out and recently added them to http://www.instantprintables.com/

Just click on the image or "more info" button to see a larger view.

First we have my Vintage Bird Post Cards. I really, really love these! I printed some out on cardstock and used them as actual post cards. I'd like to try using them also for decoupage.

I had a request to create these cones using antique doll advertisements. These you can print onto paper OR fabric! The fabric ones are really neat.

Lastly, I scanned these antique children photographs to create this printable collage sheet. There are six individual photos and you can use each photo individually in your projects (they aren't overlapped on the printable). You can never have too many antique photos in my opinion (;

You all should of warned me!!

That I would fall so hard in love! These are little needle felted bunnies I created. They are on their way to a friend of mine in Canada. I had a lot of fun creating these. They turned out pretty darn cute if I do say so myself *grin*. I think maybe I'll work on some new ones. I don't know what it is about needle felted critters, but when you gaze upon one and hold it in your hand it's very difficult not to go "awww".

Have you seen that new Burger King commercial for the burger shots (those tiny little burgers), where the guy uncovers them and the girl immediately squeals because they are so cute? Ok, well it's sort of that same type of reaction when you see these little fellows. LOL!

Creative Times magazine

Isn't this a cool way to view CT. My husband is slowing working on chopping it up and burning it in burn barrel. I'm not a huge fan of Possums. For the most part they are pretty docile as long as you don't go up and try and touch them. They do have some vicious teeth. We were within 2-3 feet of him and he was just sitting there checking us out.

Anyway, so I go outside to look for something out in the garage and my neighbor is out there feeding him Ritz crackers. You can see she stuck some in the fence for him. She's the sweetest lady, an animal lover and the best neighbor. I do wish she wouldn't feed him as he may decide to stay and our Pugs might think he's a new friend and playmate...these things can bite and bite bad.

.

Driving Cross Country...wish us luck!

I'm sorry I've neglected you all. We have been so busy for the last few weeks working on my Mom's house and getting it ready for her. Here are some "before" pictures. It is such a darling little house! We went in and painted the entire inside and fixed things. It looks fantastic and like a little doll house. http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/20741389

I'm flying out to Seattle this Thursday and will be driving back to Michigan starting on Sunday, Jan 11th. The reason is my Mom is moving out here (YEAH!). This has got to be the worse time of year though but we have to do it. Last I heard the Snoqualmie Pass was closed West bound due to avalanche control. Looks like right now East bound is open. Here are some live pictures: http://wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/passes/Snoqualmie/ and a picture of the pass today.

We are going to take I-90 over. If we can just get passed all the mountain ranges we'll be golden LOL! Fortunately we are driving a car and not a U-haul truck.

In any case, I hope to be back home here in Michigan by Jan, 15th. So that's 5 days driving. But could be longer depending on the weather. I'm SO dreading this drive. I hate driving long distance...but will be worth it in the end. Wish us luck!

A little girls Christmas wish comes true

Break out the tissue ladies! It's freezing here so today I spent most of the day indoors and created a new tag set. Jilly Bean is based on my original. Isn't she sweet!? I love how she turned out. These tags are in 300dpi for excellent printing. MUCH clearer than shown in this sample image. Use them as tags, with your altered art projects, gift tags or scrapbooking. He is a very good house hubby that will do laundry, dishes, fold clothes and make minor house repair.

While I have become attached to him and do love him, I have decided that I have to part with him due to a blatant act of deception. No it's not what you think! But just so you know what you are getting I'll share the latest experience with you.

He knows how much I hate going to the dentist and over the years he has proceeded to trick me in more minor ways such as getting me to go on drives with him only to find that our destination ends up being at the dentist office. I've fallen for this trick a number of times. Simply baited by his charm. Well NO MORE!

But that isn't the worse of it. Today I had an appointment at the dentist to get a new crown after having broke one of my back molars. A simple procedure or so I thought that consisted of them creating a mold of my tooth so the lab could make me a porcelain crown. Well, there was nothing simple about it and the husband is guilty of NOT telling me of all what was involved, including but not limited to; shots of novicaine, drilling, making a mold, more drilling, more shots of novicaine, etc....you get the point.

You know what's worse than the fact that he didn't tell me or at least warn me about this procedure? That the dentist office staff and the dentist himself all had a $50 bet going on if I'd actually come in today for the appointment! I could choke my husband and was silently cursing him the first time the dentist fired up that drill. Do you all know that sound? I swear it's worse than fingernails on a chaulkboard.

My husband says I'm just a big baby and maybe I am but only when it comes to dentists. In any case, that was the last straw and he is now available for sale cheap to any unsuspecting, Oops I mean interested parties. I was going to put him on Craigslist, but thought I'd try my blog first.

Any takers? Price is VERY negotiable.
