Ep. 5: Follow Your Heart, Listen to Your Brain

Steven talks about the possibility of moving to California.  He discusses his dream of following his heart to move there, but listening to his brain and weighing the challenges of moving.  Then the discussion begins about the risks and rewards of moving.  Is it worth it?  Why move now versus wait until later?

Figure out what your dreams are.  What draws you to those dreams? How do you justify them? How are you going to achieve them? Are they realistic?

Listen to what your brain has to say about your dreams and don’t shoot too far too soon. There is no reason you can’t reach your dreams if you make small steps to get there and keep your dreams realistic.  It may take time but you can reach all your goal and make your dreams come true.

Ep. 4 Nothing You Do Really Matters

There is 7 billion 46 million people on this planet and most of think we have the audacity to think we matter – George Watsky Tiny Glowing Screens Part 2

Why are you upset?

Does it really matter?

Do you think your life is tough? It may be, but there are a lot of people that may have it worse.

What if you lost everything in a natural disaster? You can replace belongings, so is it as bad as you may think?

Are relationships replaceable? Steven thinks they are and Josiah tends to agree.  It may be tough, but we can live without someone over time.  How many people did you think would be your friends forever from school or work, only to never talk to them again when you leave school or your job?

Don’t sweat the small stuff, when there are plenty of things out there that are much worse.  Don’t let a small 5 minute problem ruin the whole rest of the day.

It is all perspective.  Steven shares an example of stopping to help someone stranded on the side of the road in the rain.  For Steven, stopping was a small quick thing to do that didn’t have much effect on his day, yet it made the day for the man stranded.  He was extremely happy and grateful for the small quick stop that was minimal and had little effect on Steven’s day.

What if you were in that situation? Would you want someone to stop and help you, to show you they understand your struggle? Treat people how you want to be treated.  What if you needed help? Wouldn’t you want someone to stop for a minute to help you? So why wouldn’t you take a simple minute out of your day to help them?

Your attitude is key. Some of your problems aren’t as bad as you think they may be.

Ep. 3 Have you tried speech jammer?

In this episode we take things in a different direction and have some fun and make fools of ourselves.

If you haven’t tried speech jammer you should! We did and it was great! If you don’t know what it is, let me explain.  It is an app you can get for your phone.  You speak into the microphone on your phone and it delays the playback through your headphones.  It may not seem that hard, but when you try to talk and hear what you just said it tricks your brain into saying what you are hearing, making you repeat words.

Ep. 2 New Year’s Resolution

Even though it may be a little late by now, the point still stands.  How do you set achievable goals? What is a New Year’s Resolution and why do people make them?

Most people are trying to change a bad habit or make a positive change in their life.  For example, eating healthier or being more financially responsible.   A great way to achieve these goals is to set smaller goals along the way.   Don’t set yourself up for failure by setting too many goals or unrealistic goals.  If you want to eat healthier, set small goals maybe starting with each meal or each day and take it in small doses to reach the goal of eating healthier.  Josiah set a goal to eat healthier and lose a little bit of weight this year.  Steven also wants to eat healthier, but wants to gain a little weight this year.   Steven also talks about wanting to work more on a book he started last year and the interesting writing method he is using.

We also talk about a new podcast we are working on and what it will be about.

Season 2: The Greener Grass, Where You Want to be

Ep. 1 This is Random

The first episode in season 2 is a little random.  We don’t have a topic for this podcast necessarily, but rather a few funny things and an update.  First, we talk about the technical side of podcasting.  We also talk about getting our website and social media started, which has caused delays getting season 2 published.

We started recording season 2 and with this episode all the way back in December, but are just now publishing it.  Right now as you listen to this we have already finished recording season 2.  The reason being we have been taking our time getting our website and social media going making sure it is easily accessible as well as striving for the best possible audio quality with new studio upgrades.  So, when you hear us talk about not being on Itunes and only having 7 episodes on SoundCloud that was at the time of recording in December.  We currently are on Itunes, SoundCloud, and Sticher for your listening pleasure.

As our first season is titled “Testing the Waters: Welcome to Who We Are”….Welcome to who we are as we share our lives with you. 2 doods are two dudes who only have a few things in common, yet have managed to stay friends for 10 years. The glue that holds this friendship together is having a messed up sense of humor and similar “no shame” personalities. We decided to let the world in on the wonderful, magical, mystical, fairy-tale like thoughts that run through our minds every single minute. Steven brings the bachelor lifestyle to the podcast, while Josiah brings the tied-down lifestyle. Steven has too much free time on his hands, often getting himself in trouble in stupid situations, while Josiah is too busy working. Steven spends all his money on stupid useless things for himself that he never uses, while Josiah doesn’t get to spend his money. Together, somehow, Steven and Josiah make up the 2 doods podcast.
