The Coming Civil War

“Virgil,” writing for Breitbart, echos many of the concerns that have been expressed on these pages. Cultures often do not just go peacefully into the night. Rather, their dissolution is often accompanied by considerable unrest, if not just plain violence and civil war.
The United States is no stranger to cultural upheavals as anyone who recalls living through the 1960s knows. The Bill Clinton administration birthed the militia movement as some Americans became convinced that his agenda included such extreme leftist ideas as gun confiscation and the surrender of the sovereignty of the United States to supranational bodies such as the United Nations.
Yet a real civil war has been absent from this nation since the 1860s. This is something for which we should be grateful, yet we should not assume that another violent insurrection in our nation is impossible. When enough people get pushed past their “red lines,” things can turn very ugly.
low life imitates this sort of low art. The shooter at the Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, VA, one James T. Hodgkinson, was a social-media addict possessed by murderous anti-Republican fervor. More than just ideas having consequences, they are the birthplace of those actions that lead to sometimes terrifying consequences.
Virgil continues:

Just last year, Hodgkinson not only supported, but actively campaigned for, Bernie Sanders. For his part, the Vermont senator labeled the shooting a “despicable act,” adding, “violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms.”
Yet Sanders’ message doesn’t seem to have penetrated to all of his supporters. As Breitbart News noted,
A Facebook group called “Terminate the Republican Party” seemingly celebrates Wednesday’s assault. The Belleville News-Democrat reported that Hodgkinson belonged to this group.
Interestingly, this “Terminate” group is still on Facebook, boasting more than 13,000 followers.
So while we may never know exactly what triggered Hodgkinson’s crazed action—he was killed at the crime scene by better-aiming cops—it’s reasonable to surmise that the climate of violence he was drenched in had at least something to do with his actions.

His point is well taken. Immerse an individual such as Hodgkinson in a cesspit of hate such as the examples just given, and tragedy can be the result.

2. What To Do—Near Term
In the pithy words of the 20th-century sci-fi author Robert A. Heinlein, “An armed society is a polite society.” Not everyone will agree with that formulation, of course, but it’s worth recalling Heinlein’s further elaboration, which made a solid, if somewhat grim, conservative point: “Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life. For me, politeness is a sine qua non of civilization.” In other words, if we want good behavior—the linchpin of a wholesome society— then there must be consequences for bad behavior.
So it’s with this Heinleinian backdrop that we can recollect the famous phrase of the National Rifle Association’s Wayne LaPierre, uttered at a December 21, 2012 press conference just a few days after the Sandy Hook mass killing in Connecticut: “The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun.”

These are the sort of comments that drive the left to fits bordering on incoherence. But that didn’t help the liberals’ cause. Enough Americans got LaPierre’s message.

Yet evidently, a critical mass of Americans agreed with LaPierre. As we recall, even though President Obama had just been re-eIected by a wide margin, nothing came of the Democrats’ renewed gun-control push. Indeed, in the next national election, in November 2014, anti-gun control Republicans won a sweeping victory.

Continuing with the story of what happened at Wednesday’s ball practice:

So today we might think on LaPierre’s words—about the power of a good guy (or good gal) with a gun—as we consider the testimony of a survivor of the Alexandria shooting, Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX):

We’re blessed, but I want to tell you…these Capitol Police saved every one of our lives. We would not be here today if it was not for the thin blue line that the Capitol Police did. We owe it all to them.
Yes, let us praise The Thin Blue Line.

Virgil then goes on to consider advanced, high-tech tools that might someday become effective vehicles for deterring crime. We don’t have them yet, however.
Next he looks at potential solutions on a more long-term basis, correctly asserting that the ultimate deterrent to violence comes from a transition within the person, not from external forces, however essential they may be. While he ventures into the realm of the idealistic, his positions have merit.

3. What To Do, Long Term—the Lincoln Lesson
In addition to immediate security measures, we’re going to have to think, too, about what sort of society we wish to live in. After all, extrinsic technology will never be more important than intrinsic virtue. So if we can agree that people shouldn’t talk about harming or killing each other, then we should say so—and mean it.
Thus it was comforting to hear nice words, about healing and unity, from figures as diverse as President Trump, House Speaker Paul Ryan, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. And it was comforting, as well, to see this headline in the Washington Examiner: “Democrats turned a dugout into a sanctuary to pray for Republicans.”
And yet we can’t kid ourselves: Nice words, candlelight vigils, and hashtag campaigns, by themselves, won’t do anything to soften the hearts of stone killers.
In the meantime, as we have seen, the left is getting plenty pumped up on militant rejectionism that has a way of veering into violence.

This is correct. There will be a moment of obligatory bi-partisan remorse over what has happened, but the political issues and what are at stake will cause the length of any peace treaty to be measured in days if not in hours. Expect the vitriol we have experienced to return with a vengeance.
Virgil decries this situation and argues for a restrained approach. Whether he gets what he hopes for seem doubtful.

Still, maybe this would be an apt time to revive those conserving arguments about the value of cultural stability and good order.
After all, the danger today seems acute. As talk radio host Michael Savage put it in the wake of the Congressional shooting, “We are at a boiling point. There’s going to be a civil war.”
Maybe Savage is correct, although let’s hope not.

What does Virgil recommend?

Thus we come to the realm of basic civics; that is, how shall we behave in our country? And here, proper virtue is often more a matter of custom than of statute. As the great 18th-century conservative Edmund Burke put it,

Manners are of more importance than laws. Manners are what vex or soothe, corrupt or purify, exalt or debase, barbarize or refine us, by a constant, steady, uniform, insensible operation, like that of the air we breathe in.
Of course, in our own time, with technology that Burke never dreamed of, we’ve seen a new concern: the ideological spiking of online stories, or the burying of them in search-engine rankings. Once again we can say: Here’s looking at you, again, Silicon Valley!

As just mentioned, there is a strain of idealism that runs through Virgil’s piece that, while noble, seems a bit like wishful thinking. Perhaps we really are cynics. If so, we’ve had a lot of reasons to become such.

A civil war has begun.
This civil war is very different than the last one. There are no cannons or cavalry charges. The left doesn’t want to secede. It wants to rule. Political conflicts become civil wars when one side refuses to accept the existing authority. The left has rejected all forms of authority that it doesn’t control.
The left has rejected the outcome of the last two presidential elections won by Republicans. It has rejected the judicial authority of the Supreme Court when it decisions don’t accord with its agenda. It rejects the legislative authority of Congress when it is not dominated by the left.
It rejected the Constitution so long ago that it hardly bears mentioning.
It was for total unilateral executive authority under Obama. And now it’s for states unilaterally deciding what laws they will follow. (As long as that involves defying immigration laws under Trump, not following them under Obama.) It was for the sacrosanct authority of the Senate when it held the majority. Then it decried the Senate as an outmoded institution when the Republicans took it over.

It was for Obama defying the orders of Federal judges, no matter how well grounded in existing law, and it is for Federal judges overriding any order by Trump on any grounds whatsoever. It was for Obama penalizing whistleblowers, but now undermining the government from within has become “patriotic”.
There is no form of legal authority that the left accepts as a permanent institution. It only utilizes forms of authority selectively when it controls them. But when government officials refuse the orders of the duly elected government because their allegiance is to an ideology whose agenda is in conflict with the President and Congress, that’s not activism, protest, politics or civil disobedience; it’s treason.
After losing Congress, the left consolidated its authority in the White House. After losing the White House, the left shifted its center of authority to Federal judges and unelected government officials. Each defeat led the radicalized Democrats to relocate from more democratic to less democratic institutions.
This isn’t just hypocrisy. That’s a common political sin. Hypocrites maneuver within the system. The left has no allegiance to the system. It accepts no laws other than those dictated by its ideology.
Democrats have become radicalized by the left. This doesn’t just mean that they pursue all sorts of bad policies. It means that their first and foremost allegiance is to an ideology, not the Constitution, not our country or our system of government. All of those are only to be used as vehicles for their ideology.
That’s why compromise has become impossible.
Our system of government was designed to allow different groups to negotiate their differences. But those differences were supposed to be based around finding shared interests. The most profound of these shared interests was that of a common country based around certain civilizational values. The left has replaced these Founding ideas with radically different notions and principles. It has rejected the primary importance of the country. As a result it shares little in the way of interests or values.
Instead it has retreated to cultural urban and suburban enclaves where it has centralized tremendous amounts of power while disregarding the interests and values of most of the country. If it considers them at all, it is convinced that they will shortly disappear to be replaced by compliant immigrants and college indoctrinated leftists who will form a permanent demographic majority for its agenda.
But it couldn’t wait that long because it is animated by the conviction that enforcing its ideas is urgent and inevitable. And so it turned what had been a hidden transition into an open break.
In the hidden transition, its authority figures had hijacked the law and every political office they held to pursue their ideological agenda. The left had used its vast cultural power to manufacture a consensus that was slowly transitioning the country from American values to its values and agendas. The right had proven largely impotent in the face of a program which corrupted and subverted from within.
The left was enormously successful in this regard. It was so successful that it lost all sense of proportion and decided to be open about its views and to launch a political power struggle after losing an election.
The Democrats were no longer being slowly injected with leftist ideology. Instead the left openly took over and demanded allegiance to open borders, identity politics and environmental fanaticism. The exodus of voters wiped out the Democrats across much of what the left deemed flyover country.
The left responded to democratic defeats by retreating deeper into undemocratic institutions, whether it was the bureaucracy or the corporate media, while doubling down on its political radicalism. It is now openly defying the outcome of a national election using a coalition of bureaucrats, corporations, unelected officials, celebrities and reporters that are based out of its cultural and political enclaves.
It has responded to a lost election by constructing sanctuary cities and states thereby turning a cultural and ideological secession into a legal secession. But while secessionists want to be left alone authoritarians want everyone to follow their laws. The left is an authoritarian movement that wants total compliance with its dictates with severe punishments for those who disobey.
The left describes its actions as principled. But more accurately they are ideological. Officials at various levels of government have rejected the authority of the President of the United States, of Congress and of the Constitution because those are at odds with their radical ideology. Judges have cloaked this rejection in law. Mayors and governors are not even pretending that their actions are lawful.
The choices of this civil war are painfully clear.
We can have a system of government based around the Constitution with democratically elected representatives. Or we can have one based on the ideological principles of the left in which all laws and processes, including elections and the Constitution, are fig leaves for enforcing social justice.
But we cannot have both.
Some civil wars happen when a political conflict can’t be resolved at the political level. The really bad ones happen when an irresolvable political conflict combines with an irresolvable cultural conflict.
That is what we have now.
The left has made it clear that it will not accept the lawful authority of our system of government. It will not accept the outcome of elections. It will not accept these things because they are at odds with its ideology and because they represent the will of large portions of the country whom they despise.
The question is what comes next.
The last time around growing tensions began to explode in violent confrontations between extremists on both sides. These extremists were lauded by moderates who mainstreamed their views. The first Republican president was elected and rejected. The political tensions led to conflict and then civil war.
The left doesn’t believe in secession. It’s an authoritarian political movement that has lost democratic authority. There is now a political power struggle underway between the democratically elected officials and the undemocratic machinery of government aided by a handful of judges and local elected officials.
What this really means is that there are two competing governments; the legal government and a treasonous anti-government of the left. If this political conflict progresses, agencies and individuals at every level of government will be asked to demonstrate their allegiance to these two competing governments. And that can swiftly and explosively transform into an actual civil war.
There is no sign that the left understands or is troubled by the implications of the conflict it has initiated. And there are few signs that Democrats properly understand the dangerous road that the radical left is drawing them toward. The left assumes that the winners of a democratic election will back down rather than stand on their authority. It is unprepared for the possibility that democracy won’t die in darkness.
Civil wars end when one side is forced to accept the authority of the other. The left expects everyone to accept its ideological authority. Conservatives expect the left to accept Constitutional authority. The conflict is still political and cultural. It’s being fought in the media and within the government. But if neither side backs down, then it will go beyond words as both sides give contradictory orders.
The left is a treasonous movement. The Democrats became a treasonous organization when they fell under the sway of a movement that rejects our system of government, its laws and its elections. Now their treason is coming to a head. They are engaged in a struggle for power against the government. That’s not protest. It’s not activism. The old treason of the sixties has come of age. A civil war has begun.
This is a primal conflict between a totalitarian system and a democratic system. Its outcome will determine whether we will be a free nation or a nation of slaves.

Huffington Post Calls To Put An End To The White Male Vote

The Huffington Post recently moved the PC football another couple of yards with an article calling for the right to vote to be taken away from white males for 20 or 30 years, and their wealth “redistributed,” to make the world fair. Nothing screams “fairness” like barring members of some demographic group you hate from having any say over their government or being allowed to keep the fruits of their own labor. It’s been the philosophy of power-mad dictators at least since the days of the Pharaoh. Problem is, after setting off the hoped-for Twit storm, HuffPo’s editors discovered that they couldn’t verify that the writer actually existed, so the post was yanked. But you can still read about it at the link.

One of the many logical flaws in the “progressive” PC movement is that in twisting themselves into pretzels to avoid offending anyone, they often inadvertently stick their heads up their rear ends and negate their own arguments. For instance, this “writer,” whomever it may be, couldn’t simply exempt “women” because that might offend transsexuals. So she used the term “persons in female-identifying bodies” (George Carlin would’ve loved that!)

So when she sent her stormtroopers to my door, I could just say, “I’m not a white male. I’m an African-American-identifying (see Rachel Dolezal), female-identifying person. Since I claim to feel black and female inside, you have to treat me as if I really were, and you can’t take away my voting rights or property.”

If she argued that she could tell I was obviously a white male just by looking at me, I’d call her a racist and a transphobe and demand that she not be allowed to vote. See how this works? Hey, if you can’t keep female-identifying white males out of the ladies’ room, then you can’t keep them out of the voting booth. Don’t blame me, you invented these rules. I'm just taking advantage of the loopholes. Or in this case, the loopy-holes.

A former Fresno homicide detective blasts A.P. for reporting that the Fresno shooter was shouting “God is great,” when what he actually shouted was “Allahu akbar.” That helps bolster the police chief’s claim that it was a hate crime with no connection to terrorism whatsoever (despite the ISIS-connected posts on the shooter’s Facebook page -- well, at least he didn't call it "workplace violence.") But while it’s an accurate literal translation, it whitewashes away a lot of context. This is what happens when the media take it upon themselves to do rough translations of reality into political correctness.

I don’t think Democratic Party leaders realize just how desperate their political situation is that they would bet their entire party’s future and their own massive egos on winning a special election for a single Congressional seat. But outside leftist activist groups got so carried away with anti-Trump fervor that they squandered nearly $8 million on the campaign of a neophyte candidate, Jon Ossoff, for a suburban Atlanta Congressional seat, and he still didn’t win, even with the Republican vote split between so many candidates (11) that voters could barely focus on his competition. Yes, it’s a heavily-GOP district, so Democrats are crowing that Ossoff did better than expected (48.3%), but “close” only counts in horseshoes. Ossoff still failed to crack the 50% threshold needed to avoid a runoff in June, when he’ll face the top Republican candidate, Karen Handel.

Ossoff may yet win, but it will be harder in June because Republicans will be unified behind one candidate. Also because it will be another two months beyond last November’s election. To be frank, most of the outside support for Ossoff was based on raw emotion: he has no political resume, and these activists knew nothing about him or local issues, they just wanted him to win as part of their ongoing temper tantrum over Trump beating Hillary (which he did, fair and square). Tantrums are hard to keep going at full throttle; eventually, even the most out-of-control two-year-old gets tired and falls asleep. And with each passing day, as Trump deals with Syria, North Korea, health care, jobs, taxes, immigration and other issues that adults care about, it gets harder and harder to give a flying fig about the fury of people who just can’t get over losing last year’s election.

If you think I’m overstating it, look at the approach Democrats took to energizing voters for Ossoff. It wasn’t based on his qualifications or vision (he had neither), but on sticking a thumb in Trump’s eye. Their major turn-out message was to show anger and defiance by electing a Democrat, any Democrat. In addition to the millions of dollars poured into ads (largely negative), they had Alyssa Milano driving early voters to the polls (because working people in Georgia always vote the way Hollywood celebrities tell them to). The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee ran radio ads featuring actor Samuel L. Jackson urging voters, “We have to channel the great vengeance and furious anger we have for this Administration into votes at the ballot box."

There’s a winning slogan: “Send me to Congress, so I can express vengeance, fury and anger!”
News flash: most voters don’t want their Representative to go to Washington and act like a hotheaded jerk having a hissy fit. They have real problems to worry about, like jobs, national security and their families’ safety. They want someone in Washington who will work across the aisle to represent their interests and see that they get back something in return for all the taxes they send in. How does it help them to throw away their Congressional seat on someone who promises to go to DC and block, obstruct and alienate the guy who can veto any bill that might do them any good? Besides, Hillary Clinton already tried the “spit venom” tactic. A study found that in the last weeks of the election, while Trump was talking about issues important to voters, her ads were mostly personal attacks on Trump. How well did that tactic work out? Again, I hate to remind Democrats of this but: Trump won.

I occasionally get criticized by fellow Republicans for giving advice to Democrats that might help them win elections if they listened to it. In my defense, I’m pretty certain they’re never going to listen to it. In his speech last night, after it became apparent that for all their spending and spitting, the Democrats had once again failed to win, Ossoff gave a perfect illustration of the utter lack of self-awareness of his own party’s flaws, which is their biggest electoral handicap. He melodramatically declared that “there is no amount of dark money, Super PAC, negative advertising that can overcome a real grassroots movement like this. So bring it on.”

To those of us who live in Reality Land, he just described why his own campaign failed to top 50%: because it wasn’t a grassroots movement offering fresh policies that people support; it was an attempt to stir up voters’ base emotions with negative ads paid for by dark money from Super PACs. Are they going to keep trying to stoke the anger machine forever by pouring millions into the run-off, and then into every Congressional election until George Soros is broke? It didn’t work in November, and despite the surge of leftist fury following the election, there’s already a growing sense of fatigue as more and more voters do what Democratic political activists just can’t seem to do: they’re moving past the last election and getting on with more important things in life. You know, the way grown-ups do.

TRULY A WORTHWHILE READING - AMERICAN HISTORY

Before attending his inauguration ceremony at the Capitol on January 20, 2017, President Trump went to a private religious service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, across the street from the White House.

The service was led by the Baptist Rev. Robert Jeffress. This service was the only part of the entire Inauguration Day event that was not televised. Here is the transcript of Robrt Jeffress’ sermon:

President-elect and Mrs. Trump, Vice-President-elect and Mrs. Pence, families and friends, it’s an honor to be with you on this historic day.

President-elect Trump, I remember that it was exactly one year ago this weekend that I was with you on your Citation jet flying around Iowa before the first caucus or primary vote was cast. After our Wendy’s cheeseburgers, I said that I believed that you would be the next President of the United States. And if that happened, it would be because God had placed you there. As the prophet Daniel said, it is God who removes and establishes leaders. Today ─ one year later ─ God has raised you and Vice-President-elect Pence up for a great, eternal purpose.

When I think of you, President-elect Trump, I am reminded of another great leader God chose thousands of years ago in Israel. The nation had been in bondage for decades, the infrastructure of the country was in shambles, and God raised up a powerful leader to restore the nation. And the man God chose was neither a politician nor a priest. Instead, God chose a builder whose name was Nehemiah.

And the first step of rebuilding the nation was the building of a great wall. God instructed Nehemiah to build a wall around Jerusalem to protect its citizens from enemy attack. You see, God is NOT against building walls! And the Old Testament book of Nehemiah records how Nehemiah completed that massive project in record time—just 52 days.

Why was Nehemiah so successful in building the wall and rebuilding the nation?

I. Nehemiah Refused To Allow His Critics To Distract Him

Someone has said there are three guaranteed ways to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.

Any true leader is going to face criticism. President-elect Trump, you have had your share of critics from the day you announced you were running for President, but you’ve confounded them at every turn. First, they said you couldn’t win the nomination, but you ended up garnering the most votes of any Republican in history. Then they said that was a fluke, but you couldn’t win the election. And you handily defeated your opponent. And now your critics say you can’t possibly succeed in your agenda.

Nehemiah had his own share of critics. Two of his chief antagonists were named Sanballat and Tobiah. They were the mainstream media of their day. They continued to hound and heckle Nehemiah and spread false rumors while he and the Israelites were building the wall. At one point, they said, “Nehemiah, you need to stop the project and come down from the wall and have a meeting with us.” Nehemiah’s response was classic: “I’m doing a great work . . . why should I stop the work and come down to you?” (Nehemiah 6:3)

President-elect Trump, you, Vice President-elect Pence, and your team have been called by God and elected by the people to do a great work. It is a work far too important to stop and answer your critics.

II. Nehemiah Refused To Allow Setbacks To Stop Him

As you read through Nehemiah’s journal, you’ll find that he faced tremendous obstacles as he attempted to rebuild the nation: an economic recession, terrorist attacks from enemies, and discouragement among the citizens. But none of those setbacks was enough to stop Nehemiah.

Some years ago two sports commentators on television were discussing the late Hall of Famer Walter Peyton, the running back for the Chicago Bears. One commentator said, “Can you believe that during his career Peyton has run more than nine miles with a football?” The other commentator replied, “What’s even more amazing is that every 3.8 yards of those nine miles Peyton got knocked down by a guy twice his size! But he got back up every time and kept moving forward in spite of those bruising hits and hard knocks.”

President Trump, you, your team and your families are going to face some bruising setbacks. But remember. The true measure of a leader is what it takes to stop him. And knowing you, I believe it’s going to take a lot to stop you.

III. Nehemiah Sought God’s Help To Empower Him

Nehemiah was a gifted leader, but he knew he could not succeed without God’s divine help. And that is why as he began the great work, Nehemiah knelt before God and prayed: “O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant who delights in revering your name. Give your servant success today . . .” (Nehemiah 1:11)

Mr. President-elect, I don’t believe we have ever had a president with as many natural gifts as you. As you know, the reason I endorsed you within weeks of your announcement that you were running was because I believed that you were the only candidate who possessed the leadership skills necessary to reverse the downward trajectory of our nation.

And beginning with Vice President-elect Pence ─ a great and godly man ─ you’ve assembled an unbelievably talented group of advisers around you.

But the challenges facing our nation are so great that it will take more than natural ability to meet them. We need God’s supernatural power. The good news is that the same God who empowered Nehemiah nearly 2500 years ago is available to every one of us today who is willing to humble himself and ask for His help. God says in Psalm 50:15 “Call upon Me in the day of trouble I shall rescue you and you will honor Me.”

When President Ronald Reagan addressed the Republican National Convention in my city of Dallas in 1984 he said, “America needs God more than God needs America. If we ever forget that we are “one nation under God,” then we will be a nation gone under.”

President-elect Trump, you had a campaign slogan that resonated with tens of millions of Americans because it spoke to their heartfelt desire: “Make America Great Again.” May God bless President-elect Trump, Vice-President-elect Pence, their families and advisers. And may God truly bless the United States of America.

Just to throw a bucket of cold reality on the impeachment dreamers: to remove Trump, they’d first have to get the House to pass articles of impeachment. Thanks to years of unrealistic Democratic actions, Republicans control the House. But let’s imagine that actually happened. He’d then have to be impeached by the Senate. True, some Republican Senators don’t like Trump, and unlike Democrats, Republicans have been known to hold Presidents of their own party to some actual standards. Still, it requires a two-thirds vote. But as long as we’re fantasizing like Democrats, let’s imagine that happens, too.

So Trump is gone! Democrats rejoice! Until they realize they’ve just given us President Mike Pence. Okay, gear up your imaginations and let’s fantasize that they can impeach every Republican in the entire line of succession. That would require removing Pence, House Speaker Ryan, Senate President pro tempore Orrin Hatch, and the Secretaries of State and the Treasury. Finally, we get to an Independent: Welcome to the White House, Defense Secretary-now-President James “Mad Dog” Mattis! Wait, I don’t think that’s what liberals were dreaming of.

In fact, the Democrats are so far out of power that even if they could impeach Trump, Pence, Ryan, Hatch and a dozen Cabinet officials, it would just result in President Betsy DeVos.

Far be it from me to give liberals advice, but if they ever want to see another Democratic President, they need to give up these childish fantasies and tantrums, and start winning elections again by proving to the voters that they are capable of creating mature, intelligent policies that work in reality.
But then, I guess I’m the one dreaming now.

Odd, you’d think that with the existence of the Internet, it would be easier than ever for judges to access research materials, like previous rulings by the Supreme Court, or even a copy of the Second Amendment.
Apparently, from Seattle to Maryland, judges are now ignoring federal statutes, the Constitution and SCOTUS precedents and just wingin’ it. We’ll see how that goes over when these cases get to the Supreme Court. I hope the Justices reply, “Didn’t we already make this stuff clear to you?!”

A former Obama State Department official explains why Obama refused even to say the words “radical Islamic terrorism.” He adds that even a tweet from the United States government “saying the Islamic State is a distortion of Islam is not going to hurt the group. Instead, it will help its recruiting.”

It always astounded me how many times the previous Administration bent over backward to keep from “inflaming” ISIS or al-Qaeda and “helping its recruiting.” They had to close Gitmo because it “helped their recruiting” (which nobody ever found any evidence to support.) They called obvious terrorist attacks "workplace violence." They couldn't even call radical Islamic terrorists by their right name for fear it would make them hate us more and do something even worse.

While there was never any worry that the two planes were in danger of colliding in the skies, it is alarming that it could possibly have been even an option if the private plane pilot had chosen to. Is America really that inept at even the most ordinary of tasks in 2017, and if so, what chance would we have against the Russians if war did happen?
Flights anywhere near the president are often diverted and there are certain rules which apply to Air Force One that should have made this unthinkable. There is no way that anyone would even imagine that a scenario that puts a sitting president in such danger could happen so easily, and yet it did.
Pilot error or a controller error (no one would have noticed?) can cause these occurrences, which the industry calls “loss of separation,” but there are features on the Boeing jet that the president was in that would have told of such deviations to the pilots. Neither the Federal Aviation Administration nor the National Transportation Safety Board wished to make any comments about the incident at this time and investigations are ongoing.

Offical presidential protocols exist to keep Air Force One safe, but those protocols failed.

With so much at stake and so little information, it is very hard to not wonder what all of this means and where it leaves us in terms of security. There are a handful of ways that, in theory, such a thing as this could happen with Donald Trump in the skies, but none of them are good. To begin this, it could be that someone in our own government was allowing this.
This would be where Hollywood comes in with a terrible script that sees elites and those that hate Trump within the government or CIA trying to learn the workings of how the president travels or maybe even how to kamikaze him to the ground. Perhaps they snuck into the sky with no one knowing.
The only problem with this is that it is (at this point, who knows?) impossible in that hundreds, if not thousands, of air traffic controllers chart Air Force One with the above-mentioned protocols. If some secret hand within our government (or anyone else for that matter) found some magical way to get that many people to turn a blind eye to such a massive breach in logic then they would not have just flown by Trump since their chance will never happen again after this. So we can likely rule that option out.

Many people work in air traffic control towers so getting anything in the sky unseen close to Air Force One is impossible….right???

If this were the action of another nation or entity, what should America’s reaction be? This could easily be perceived as a threat. Such a scenario what also beg the question of how often this happens because we only know about this now due to the leaking of three people who won’t say even who they are. Does this happen a lot? If so, how can we stop it because Trump has more death threats already against him than the oceans have water.
Therefore, it can not be called “conspiracy” to worry about how a massive error or flaw in presidential security like this could happen. The private plane is lucky that fighter jets did not go rushing up and shoot the plane down before it’s pilot even knew that it had been locked. However we must now ask, did those fighter jets even get KNOW?

Could it be possible for someone in a private plane to kill Trump in a kamikaze style popular over 70 years ago with today’s technology? If so, how can this be fixed?

As news of this trickles in it will prove interesting to see just how this was allowed to happen and if it was done on purpose. If not, the look on the private plane pilot’s face when enough men in black were there to film a mafia movie showed up to greet him on the tarmac must have been hilarious. We may never know the whole story because to ever tell the whole story could put the president and Air Force One in even greater danger in the future, especially if there is technology that we don’t know about that allows it, or if we can not fix it. It is too soon to imply that private planes can have stealth technology, why that sounds as absurd as personal aircraft flying close to the…..oh, wait….
When every liberal with a laptop and a screen full of misinformation is tweeting about how they would like to kill Trump, see him dead, assassinate his family, and even murder his favorite quarterback, then it seems high time to consider more closely what is going on in the high skies because at this point, who knows what can really happen in the “real” world.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said he would “hammer” local officials if they resist federal efforts to deport immigrants in the country illegally, according to the Associated Press.

Texas Republican lawmakers are readying a bill that would allow for criminal charges against city or county officials who intentionally don’t comply. Any county elected official, such as a sheriff, would face immediate removal from office if convicted of official misconduct, AP reported.

The Texas bill is the latest sign some states are ready to comply with President Trump’s executive orders on illegal immigration. Trump also plans to enforce existing laws that should give him plenty of tools to pressure local officials who refuse to detain illegal immigrants.

Many of the cities that implement policies to frustrate efforts by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office are known as “sanctuary cities.”

Republicans are now pushing to break up the liberal ninth circuit court which is the most reversed court in the country. Republican Senators Jeff Flake and John McCain have introduced legislation to “carve six states out of the San Francisco-based court circuit and create a brand new 12th Circuit,” according to Fox News.
The argument that they make is that the court is too big, too liberal and too slow in resolving cases.

Schoolchildren in America got dumber under President Obama, according to a group that ranks exam scores worldwide.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development produces an exam administered every three years to 15-year olds in 72 countries. The exam tests reading, math and science knowledge.
The results? American schoolkids saw an 11-point drop in math and flatline scores for reading and science, Fox News is reporting.
For the first time, Obama’s America fell below the average set by the OECD and failed to crack the top ten in any of the categories.

As it stands now, according to the results, thanks to Barack Obama and his failed education policies, children in the Slovak Republic are better in math than Americans are.
So what were Barack Obama’s disastrous education policies? Or, is it possible, that in many cases, school districts, and schoolchildren, rise and fall regardless what the policy is from bureaucrats in Washington?

Barack Obama opposed private school vouchers – where parents receive taxpayer dollars to send their children to schools that are succeeding. Donald Trump has said he supports then.
Obama’s Education department was obsessed with making sure African American students and other students of color did not receive harsher punishments or reprimands than other school kids. They were also focused on limiting physical punishment of children at school altogether. That is not likely to be a central focus under President Trump.
Obama also demanded stronger regulation of for-profit colleges and universities. Many large, for-profit schools have shut down because of Obama’s enforcement efforts.

Last month, the Career Education Colleges and Universities association said for-profit colleges are ready to educate 5 million career professionals.
It put out a statement from former Speaker Newt Gingrich, calling on the federal government to stop targeting for-profit colleges. Gingrich was an early supporter of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
Instead of fighting for-profit colleges, Gingrich said the government should work with the schools to help Americans develop skills needed for good jobs and better pay.

The FBI has confirmed that they are investigating the violent UC Berkeley riots, with the cooperation of the university.
They’re specifically investigating one of the rioters was a university employee — Ian Dabney Miller, who bragged on Twitter about participating.

A spokesperson responded to the allegation, saying, “The campus is aware of the allegations involving someone who is a current member of the university’s workforce … UCPD is working in close concert with the FBI on an ongoing investigation into the matter.”

Strangely, the university is denying student involvement. Nicholas Dirks, the university chancellor, said that the riots were orchestrated by “armed individuals in ‘ninja-like’ uniforms, using paramilitary tactics.” Only one group has come forward accepting responsibility for their role so far. BAMN (By Any Means Necessary) is a liberal group led by Yvette Felarca, who expressed no regrets for the riot, saying that “the left has been far too timid for way too long.”

During the riots, Trump supporters were assaulted, innocent people were pepper sprayed, and the rioters set fires in the streets. Rioters also looted a Starbucks, and smashed ATMs and windows. Over $100,000 worth of damage was caused to the student union, and over $400,000 worth of damage was caused to the downtown area, according to the Downtown Berkeley Association.
The Berkely speech was meant to be the last stop on Yiannopoulos’ “Dangerous Faggot” tour. He says that he will return to give the speech despite the riots.

Donald Trump's Recent Executive Order On Immigration

In the last few days the Democrats have been creating political turmoil since President Donald Trump signed the executive order for a temporary ban of aliens from seven countries to enter the US during the next 90 days strictly for national security reasons.

These Democrats decry that this presidential executive order is inhuman, un-american, unworthy of a US president and unbecoming of a government representing the American people. They should know that there is already a law approved and voted by the US Congress known as the McCarran-Walter Act of 1952 which gives the US president the authority to deny entry to aliens who are considered potentially dangerous to the security of the United States of America. Who were McCarran and Walter, the authors of this Immigration Act in 1952? Both were high ranking Democrats, McCarran was the late Democrat US Senator of Nevada and Francis Walter was the late Democrat US congressman from Pennsylvania. And who was the US President when this law was passed in 1952? It was the Democrat President Harry Truman.

These Democrats should also know that in 1979 the Democrat President Jimmy Carter invoked this McCarran-Walter Act to stop the entry of Iranians in the US as he found out that seven thousand of them were in violation of their visas. A total of 15,000 Iranians were deported from the United States in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter and none of the Democrats voiced their objection then.

The first and foremost duty of the US President is to protect the security of the American people, especially in the present times of widespread unrest and violence by the murderous IS terrorists all over the world.

Michelle Obama Ashamed to Be an American - until today

I'm not exactly sure how much traction this story is going to get. It's all over the internet and cable news nets which could mean Mrs. Obama's statement that:

"[F]or the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction...”

...is a 24 hour phenomenon or this is a needle that can puncture Obama's balloon and bring him back down from his lofty perch as Messiah and Agent of Change.

After all, there are plenty of Democrats who agree with that statement. Most Democrats were not proud of the fact that we won the cold war or liberated Kuwait or even that two ambitious African Americans like she and her husband were able to attend ivy league schools, get jobs that gave them each a 6 figure income, and allowed them to pursue their life's ambitions.

The fact that Democrats haven't been in power when these things were going on has a lot to do with it. But beyond that, liberals wear their shame of America like a badge of honor. It is an identifying mark - a passport into the club of smart, hip, savvy leftists whose whining denials that they hate this country are usually disproved in some spectacular way - as in Mrs. Obama's statement above.

So it is not likely that Michelle Obama's revelatory statement on her lacking pride in America will hurt Obama in the polls. Besides, the candidate himself didn't utter the words although it will be fascinating to see how he avoids cutting his own wife off at the knees while maintaining his positive, upbeat, "liberals love America too" campaign.

For make no mistake. If the press gets any access to the candidate today (and press access is just starting to become an issue - with the press) he will be asked about his wfie's statement. If he fails to adequately address the issue, it will stay with the campaign for a while - a distraction, not a feeding frenzy that would destroy his candidacy.

6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.
7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.
8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.
9. 21 radio stations in LA are Spanish-speaking.
10. In LA County, 5.1 million people speak English; 3.9 million, speak Spanish. (There are 10.2 million people, in LA County.

It is also helpful to remember that less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare. Over 70% of the United States' annual population growth, (and over 90% of California, Florida, and New York), results from immigration. Also, 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

Such a deplorable and harmful situation has never existed before in the history of our American Nation and must not be allowed to continue.

That descriptive and funny line came to mind after I heard what first lady Michelle Obama told Oprah Winfrey last week in a TV interview. Because of Donald Trump’s election, she told the former talk show host, “We are feeling what not having hope feels like.”
She couldn’t prove that by the polls. A recent Quinnipiac University poll found that 59 percent of voters are “optimistic about the next four years with Donald Trump as president.” Sixty-six percent of respondents said they believed he would create jobs, 52 percent said they believe Trump’s policies will help the economy, 53 percent expressed confidence he will take the country in the right direction, and 49 percent think Trump will be either a “great” president or a “good” president.

Michelle Obama’s hubris that only her husband could provide hope, despite the unpopularity of his policies (his personal popularity remains high), may be why St. Paul cautioned: “Do not think more highly of yourself than you ought.” (Romans 12:3). Pride is the first sin, which leads to all others.
Anyone who puts faith in a politician to make his or her life better is worshipping a false god. Politicians can make your life worse by overtaxing your income, overregulating your business and conducting foreign policy in ways that put America’s security at risk, but the qualities that improve any life — a good education, strong work ethic, self-control, taking personal responsibility for one’s actions, obeying the law, developing good character — these are virtues over which government has little influence.

Politicians promote faith in themselves because it helps their careers and feeds their egos. When was the last time you heard a politician say only you can make your life better by the choices you make? Have you ever heard a politician say, “We are clearing the field of liberty as much as we can so that you have the best opportunity to succeed at whatever you believe your gifts qualify you for”?
If politicians started talking like that people might have more faith in themselves and politicians would see their influence and power decline significantly.

People hope for many things. Some people hope to win the lottery; others choose to hope in someone, or something, that can actually deliver. Hoping to win the lottery, or hoping a politician can improve your life, is a vain hope that can lead to disappointment, even cynicism.

A friend of mine once observed that humility is so light a grace that once you think you have attained it, you’ve lost it. Humility is the polar opposite of what Michelle Obama displayed to Oprah and what the president has mirrored during his eight years in office. Throughout his presidency, you might have thought the pronoun “I” was his first initial for all the times he referred to himself.
The Obamas could have offered real hope, especially in the hearts of African-American children, by leading the poor among them out of failing inner-city schools and giving their parents a choice of where to send them for a better education, which would have led to a better life.

They rightly sent their daughters to elite private schools, rather than bad D.C. public schools, but denied that choice to those less affluent, thus perpetuating a spirit of hopelessness in those voters who had hoped for something beyond a “let’s move” exercise program and a vegetable garden on the White House lawn.

Jane Fonda was on 3 times this week talking about her new book... and how good she feels in her 70's... She still does not know what she did wrong... Her book just may not make the bestseller list if more people knew.

Barbara Walters said: Thank you all. Many died in Vietnam for our freedoms. I did not like Jane Fonda then and I don't like her now. She can lead her present life the way she wants and perhaps SHE can forget the past, but we DO NOT have to stand by without comment and see her "honored" as a "Woman of the Century." (I remember this well.)

This is for all the kids born in the 70's and after who do not remember, and didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older brothers and sisters had to bear. Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the "100 Women of the Century."

Barbara Walters writes: Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but specific men who served and sacrificed during the Vietnam War.

Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American "peace activist" the "lenient and humane treatment" he'd received.

He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward onto the camp commandant 's feet, which sent that officer berserk. In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the " Hanoi Hilton"... the first three of which his family only knew he was "missing in action." His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and clothed routine in preparation for a "peace delegation" visit.

They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number on it, in the palm of his hand. When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?"

Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper.
She took them all without missing a beat... At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper...

Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day.

I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam, and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia; and one year in a 'black box' in Hanoi. My North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Banme Thuot, South Vietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.)

We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals". When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with her. I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received... and how different it was from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as "humane and lenient." Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched with a large steel weight placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She never did answer me.

.These first-hand experiences do not exemplify someone who should be honored as part of "100 Years of Great Women." Lest we forget... "100 Years of Great Women" should never include a traitor whose hands are covered with the blood of so many patriots. There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in blatant treason, is one of them.

Please take the time to forward to as many people as you possibly can. It will eventually end up on her computer, and she needs to know that we will never forget.

Old Lies

We expect to hear a lot of lies during an election year, and this year is certainly no exception. What is surprising is how old some of these lies are, and how often they have been shown to be lies, years ago or even decades ago.One of the oldest of these lies is that women are paid less than men for doing the same work. Like many other politically successful lies, it contains just enough of the truth to fool the gullible.
Women as a group do get paid less than men as a group. But not for doing the same work. Women average fewer annual hours of work than men. They work continuously for fewer years than men, since only women get pregnant, and most women are not prepared to instantly dump the baby on somebody else to raise.
Being a mother is not an incidental sideline, and being a single mother can be a major restriction on how much time can be put into a job, either in a year or over the years.
People like Hillary Clinton can simply grab a statistic about male-female income differences and run with it, since her purpose is not truth but votes. The real question however is whether, or to what extent, those income differences are due to employers paying women and men different wages for doing the very same jobs, for the very same amount of time.
We do not need to guess about such things. Many studies have been done over many years -- and they repeatedly show that women and men who work the very same hours in the very same jobs at the very same levels of skill and experience do not have the pay gaps that people like Hillary Clinton loudly denounce.

As far back as 1971, single women in their thirties who had worked continuously since high school earned slightly more than men of the same description. As far back as 1969, academic women who had never married earned more than academic men who had never married.
People who are looking for grievances are not going to be stopped by facts, especially if they are in politics. But where are our media pundits and our academic scholars? Mostly silent, either out of fear of being denounced as anti-women or because they have chosen to take sides rather than convey facts.
Nevertheless, there are enough scholars, including women economists, who have done enough honest studies over the years that there is no excuse for continuing to repeat a discredited lie, based on comparing apples and oranges. A book written by two women and titled "Women's Figures" shows the results when you compare women and men with comparable qualifications.
It is much the same story with black-white comparisons. More than 40 years ago, my own research turned up statistics on black and white professors who had Ph.D.s from equally high-ranked institutions in the same fields, and who had published the same number of articles.
When all these things were held constant, the black professors earned somewhat more than white professors. But, since all these things are not the same among black and white professors in general, there is a racial gap in pay that allows some to loudly denounce racial discrimination among academics.

Those who wish to check out my statistics can get a copy of my 1975 monograph, "Affirmative Action Reconsidered." It has not been updated because not all the same statistics will be released now. This is not unusual. Statistics that might undermine some other popular conclusions -- whether on affirmative action, global warming or whatever -- have been kept under wraps when other researchers tried to get them.
Too many people in the media and in academia abandon their roles as conduits for facts and take on the role of filterers of facts to promote social and political agendas.
In all too many educational institutions, from kindergartens to postgraduate university programs, students may never hear any facts that contradict the prevailing groupthink.
How many students taught by Keynesian economists will ever learn about the 1921 recession, when the Harding administration did nothing -- and unemployment dropped steeply as the economy recovered on its own?
There are many reasons why old lies, refuted long ago, are still heard every election year, and in all too many other years.

Many years ago, I was a member of a committee that was recommending to whom grant money should be awarded. Since I knew one of the applicants, I asked if this meant that I should recuse myself from voting on his application.
"No," the chairman said. "I know him too -- and he is one of the truly great phonies of our time."
The man was indeed a very talented phony. He could convince almost anybody of almost anything -- provided that they were not already knowledgeable about the subject.

He had once spoken to me very authoritatively about Marxian economics, apparently unaware that I was one of the few people who had read all three volumes of Marx's "Capital," and had published articles on Marxian economics in scholarly journals.

What our glib talker was saying might have seemed impressive to someone who had never read "Capital," as most people have not. But it was complete nonsense to me.
Incidentally, he did not get the grant he applied for.

This episode came back to me recently, as I read an incisive column by Charles Krauthammer, citing some of the many gaffes in public statements by the President of the United States.
One presidential gaffe in particular gives the flavor, and suggests the reason, for many others. It involved the Falkland Islands.

Argentina has recently been demanding that Britain return the Falkland Islands, which have been occupied by Britons for nearly two centuries. In 1982, Argentina seized these islands by force, only to have British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher take the islands back by force.

With Argentina today beset by domestic problems, demanding the return of the Falklands is once again a way for Argentina's government to distract the Argentine public's attention from the country's economic and other woes.

Because the Argentines call these islands "the Malvinas," rather than "the Falklands," Barack Obama decided to use the Argentine term. But he referred to them as "the Maldives."
It so happens that the Maldives are thousands of miles away from the Malvinas. The former are in the Indian Ocean, while the latter are in the South Atlantic.

Nor is this the only gross misstatement that President Obama has gotten away with, thanks to the mainstream media, which sees no evil, hears no evil and speaks no evil when it comes to Obama.
The presidential gaffe that struck me when I heard it was Barack Obama's reference to a military corps as a military "corpse." He is obviously a man who is used to sounding off about things he has paid little or no attention to in the past. His mispronunciation of a common military term was especially revealing to someone who was once in the Marine Corps, not Marine "corpse."
Like other truly talented phonies, Barack Obama concentrates his skills on the effect of his words on other people -- most of whom do not have the time to become knowledgeable about the things he is talking about. Whether what he says bears any relationship to the facts is politically irrelevant.

A talented con man, or a slick politician, does not waste his time trying to convince knowledgeable skeptics. His job is to keep the true believers believing. He is not going to convince the others anyway.

Back during Barack Obama's first year in office, he kept repeating, with great apparent earnestness, that there were "shovel-ready" projects that would quickly provide many much-needed jobs, if only his spending plans were approved by Congress.

He seemed very convincing -- if you didn't know how long it can take for any construction project to get started, after going through a bureaucratic maze of environmental impact studies, zoning commission rulings and other procedures that can delay even the smallest and simplest project for years.

Only about a year or so after his big spending programs were approved by Congress, Barack Obama himself laughed at how slowly everything was going on his supposedly "shovel-ready" projects.
One wonders how he will laugh when all his golden promises about ObamaCare turn out to be false and a medical disaster. Or when his foreign policy fiascoes in the Middle East are climaxed by a nuclear Iran.

The election was a complete repudiation of Barack Obama: his fantasy world of political correctness, the politicization of the Justice Department and the I.R.S., an out-of-control E.P.A., his neutering of the military, his nonsupport of the police and his fixation on things like transgender bathrooms. Since he became president, his party has lost 63 House seats, 10 Senate seats and 14 governorships.

The country had signaled strongly in the last two midterms that they were not happy. The Dems' answer was to give them more of the same from a person they did not like or trust.

Preaching — and pandering — with a message of inclusion, the Democrats have instead become a party where incivility and bad manners are taken for granted, rudeness is routine, religion is mocked and there is absolutely no respect for a differing opinion. This did not go down well in the Midwest, where Trump flipped three blue states and 44 electoral votes.

The rudeness reached its peak when Vice President-elect Mike Pence was booed by attendees of "Hamilton" and then pompously lectured by the cast. This may play well with the New York theater crowd but is considered boorish and unacceptable by those of us taught to respect the office of the president and vice president, if not the occupants.

Here is a short primer for the young protesters. If your preferred candidate loses, there is no need for mass hysteria, canceled midterms, safe spaces, crying rooms or group primal screams. You might understand this better if you had not received participation trophies, undeserved grades to protect your feelings or even if you had a proper understanding of civics. The Democrats are now crying that Hillary had more popular votes. That can be her participation trophy.

If any of my sons had told me they were too distraught over a national election to take an exam, I would have brought them home the next day, fearful of the instruction they were receiving. Not one of the top 50 colleges mandate one semester of Western Civilization. Maybe they should rethink that.

Mr. Trump received over 62 million votes, not all of them cast by homophobes, Islamaphobes, racists, sexists, misogynists or any other "ists." I would caution Trump deniers that all of the crying and whining is not good preparation for the coming storm. The liberal media, both print and electronic, has lost all credibility. I am reasonably sure that none of the mainstream print media had stories prepared for a Trump victory. I watched the networks and cable stations in their midnight meltdown — embodied by Rachel Maddow explaining to viewers that they were not having a "terrible, terrible dream" and that they had not died and "gone to hell."

The media's criticism of Trump's high-level picks as "not diverse enough" or "too white and male" — a day before he named two women and offered a cabinet position to an African-American — magnified this fact.

Here is a final word to my Democratic friends. The election is over. There will not be a do-over. So let me bid farewell to Al Sharpton, Ben Rhodes and the Clintons. Note to Cher, Barbra, Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham: Your plane is waiting. And to Jon Stewart, who talked about moving to another planet: Your spaceship is waiting. To Bruce Springsteen, Jay Z, Beyoncé and Katy Perry, thanks for the free concerts. And finally, to all the foreign countries that contributed to the Clinton Foundation, there will not be a payoff or a rebate.

As Eddie Murphy so eloquently stated in the movie "48 Hrs.": "There's a new sheriff in town." And he is going to be here for 1,461 days.
