Well as I build my poker library, I would like some help in determining which book to get next. I have a few already, so let's get those out of the way. First, I have Super System by Doyle Brunson, considered the poker bible by many. I have read Super System, but I wouldn't say I've studied it so I'm not sure how much it's helped me. I found it at a used bookstore in good condition for less than half of what it costs new. In that same store, I also picked up Phil Hellmuth's Play Poker Like The Pros. The third book I have is Internet Texas Hold-Em by Matthew Hilger.
Not a very extensive library, but you have to start somewhere, right? I been thinking about Theory of Poker by David Sklansky. I've talked to a few people about it and they said it was pretty good, but to be prepared because I'll know more about pot odds than I ever cared to know. After that though, I'm not sure what to get. Harrington on Hold-Em? Tom McEvoy's Tournament Poker? I would love to hear your thoughts if you have read either one of these, or if there was another book out there that helped improve your game significantly.

Feel free to send me any suggestions.

Hansen v. Negraneau High Stakes, Huge Pot!!

I didn't get a chance to see any of the High Stakes poker on T.V. so I missed this hand. This is an unbelievable hand between Gus Hansen and Daniel Negraneau which results in a pot of almost $600,000. They start with small pairs (Gus 5s Daniel 6s)and they both flop trips with Gus trailing. The turn brings another 5 giving Gus quads and Daniel a boat. Daniel can't get away from the hand and loses almost $300,000. The clip is a little lengthy, but definitely worth it.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://2livecards.blogspot.com/2006/09/hansen-v-negraneau-high-stakes-huge.html' title='Hansen v. If I do decide to move, what should I do with the FPPs I have accumulated? I have about 2450 frequent player points and don't know if I should just cash them out for some merchandise or if I should let them ride in a tournament. I could buy a poker book which would at least let me walk away with something tangible. Or I could let them ride in a FPP tournament for a chance to make a buy in for a larger tournament like the big Sunday tournament at Pokerstars. With the way my luck and my play have been going of late, I'm leaning towards buying a poker book with the points. Hopefully my play will improve after reading the book.

Let me know what you think.

This is hilarious!

Can anyone recommend a good poker site?

I have played on Pokerstars for about a year now. After a good run, followed by an even worse run, I have decided it is time to look for a new poker site. Now I'm not going to jump on the conspiracy theory bandwagon about how all poker sites are rigged like some. Personally, I hope that these sites have better things to do then worry about how they are going to take money from a guy playing $0.50 limits and $5 sit-n-gos. I'm not blaming this bad run on Pokerstars. I'm sure it's the result of many errors on my part and a few bad beats. I do think it might be time for a fresh start though. I'm looking for a new poker site and would like your help. I have downloaded Partypoker and Bodog, but I have never deposited money or played on their free tables.
