I have a brand new 1984 Toyota Tercel with factory paint. Last I washed and cleaned my car aka "detailing" I used carnauba wax. I'm debating to send it to a professional "car detailer" to have them wash it and apply wax. Nope no wax anymore everything is "ceramic" this and that. "packages" range from a few hundred to a thousand for a complete ceramic package. Everything has "ceramic" in it. I thought ceramics are clay fired? Now these ceramic products promise everything under the sun. "lasts years" "extreme beading" etc.
Seems that the car cleaning industry has all these fancy terms to describe simple tasks.
"decontamination" instead of washing and cleaning the vehicle. "extraction" for vacuuming. They wanted extra for carpet "extraction' because my beloved Tercel is over 30 years old but I keep it clean.
Are ceramic coatings really ceramic? I see they apply it by hand - no clay firings in an oven or heat applied. They just apply (or the shop stated "install")  by hand with a cloth or sponge type applicator.

I'm not an expert in combat with firearms, but if I have decided to engage the gunman, I of course will be shooting to hit him.  But I will keep firing and firing as long as I am able to.  Even if I miss entirely, engaging him will deter him from focusing on trying to kill others.

Sustained fire will also save lives, even if you miss.

This from someone who never engaged in a live combat situation.  Take it for what it's worth.  I honestly feel that once I have decided to engage, this is how I would do it.

Whether I actually do or not will have to wait until it ever happens.  No one really knows how they will react once the bullets fly.

This is John Correia (ASP) post on the incident.  Lots of good points.  Very important to carry with a round in the chamber as even experts will forget to chamber in an encounter.  Lots of videos of defenders dying because their gun wasn't chambered.  No hits on the bad guy from 5 yards to 50 yards so practice under extreme stress - an audience watching you shoot solo, action competitions, and shooting under physical exertion (run, do pushups, etc before shooting).  Practice your support hand shooting along with support hand only reloads and malfunction clearing.  Lastly, consider your decision whether to get involved or not beforehand as you don't have time in an actual situation to figure things out.



Holy hell, I just got current on the Twin Falls, Idaho In n Out active shooting and there are several details that only came out in the last day or 2 that have been utterly and completely missed by the defensive training community.
The hero who didn't want to draw his gun, Austin Scott James, is a legit hero who should be applauded. He also, after being shot in the right shoulder and severing his brachial artery, drew his gun with his support hand and tried to engage the killer with it, but couldn't because he was carrying it with the chamber empty.
An unnamed woman in the fog of war was confronted by the gunman, ducked behind his car, and picked up the gunman's discarded pistol. The gunman had discarded the pistol because it malfunctioned, and she couldn't fix it. So she ran and tossed it.
The off duty Idaho State Patrolman is a hero who coordinated getting employees out of harm's way and is a hero. He also had a confrontation with the gunman at about 5-6 yards and did not get hits on that gunman, who then went on to shoot a Good Samaritan right next to the trooper and also kill two more people.

Last rumor I heard that some may have the Sage EBR chassis and some may have "National Match" conditioning. Anyone know if there ever was USGI double lugged receivers? Perhaps on team guns?
