What's Good With Our S.A Artists!!!!!

2011-04-18T01:00:00.000-07:00

AKA Tops Metro FM Charts

I dont know how it happend but this guy some how managed to become my 1st favourite rapper in S.A.
I listened to his mixtape "24/7/366" without even skipping one track (lol).

AKA's single ''Victory lap”, has stayed at the top of Metro FM's Top 40 Charts for four consecutive weeks.
The hip hop song, which debuted on the charts at number 29, has competed for twelve weeks.
Released in November last year, the song has also been remixed by HHP, Tumi and Amu.

AKA says that besides the hard work of making sure that the music he releases is his best and a true reflection of himself, he also owes it to his fans from around the country who have been showing him great support and encouragement on all platforms. He says that keeping in communication with his fans and supporters on platforms like Twitter and Facebook “is important for any artist that is serious about his career and craft.”
His album "Alter Ego" is to be released this year, (im just not sure when) and im definately getting myself a copy.

JR Wins Tropika Island Of Treasure

As if the million rand deal he got from Vodacom wasn't enough, this nigga goes on to win another million on Etv's game show Tropika Island Of Treasure (lol dont get me wrong, im not hating on the dude).

The ''Show Dem" singer beat female rivals Thandeka Steenkamp, Dionne Song and Latoya Ragebult, to win the grand prize.
After the show, JR told reporters that his next step would be to promote his new single, ''Show Goes On'', which features Jack Parow and Die Heuwels Fantasties.
He added that fans can expect his new album in September this year.

This year's Tropika Island of Treasure was held on the exotic island of Phuket in Thailand, and the line up of celebrities included Bonang Matheba, Tatum Keshwar, Loyiso Gola, Khanyi Mbau, JR and Dionne Song.

Yep Its Wizzy F Baby and the F is for FRESH N FLY (lol). April's album review is none other than Lil Wayne's upcoming album "Tha Carter IV"

Lil Wayne's Carter series album sales are always high and besblee that Tha Carter IV is gonna sell.
In the summer of 2004, Wayne's album Tha Carter was released, selling 878,000 copies in the United States
Tha Carter II, the follow-up to the original Tha Carter album, was released in December 2005, Tha Carter II sold more than 238,000 copies in its first week of release, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and went on to sell 2,000,000 copies world wide.

Tha Carter III was released on June 10, 2008, selling more than a million copies in its first week of release, the first to do so since 50 Cent's The Massacre in 2005.

If Tha Carter IV isnt the most anticipated album for 2011 then i really dont know what is.

I dont know if this track is gon be on the album but i just heard it and liked it, so ya'll can download it too. Its a really FR3SH joint

GADGET OF THE MONTH

2011-04-18T00:46:00.001-07:00

Nokia is tryna bounce back into the Market since the BlackBerry invasion (lol), The Manufactures of Nokia will be releasing a new phone, Nokia X7.

The Nokia X7 was specially constructed for entertainment purposes as you can tell by its screen size, and when i say entertainment, i mean media that you have thought up of yourself – all original. With its 8-megapixel full focus camera (that seems to be the norm these days), it can deliver 720p video recording as well as a dual LED flash to help you take better photos in low light or dark conditions.

Don’t worry about making sure there is enough memory right out of the box – the Nokia X7 will ship with a 8GB memory card pre-installed, and if that is maxed out, you can always temporarily fall back on the 350MB built-in operating memory. You can also fit in your very own 32GB microsDHC memory card if the need arises.

Measuring 119.7 x 62.8 x 11.9mm (thinner at the edges), the Nokia X7 will tip the scales at 146 grams, where you will be able to enjoy 2G/3G network connectivity and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi support. Nice to know that Nokia has stuck to the standard 3.5mm audio connector for headphones which is what every good cell phone manufacturer should do. With a 1200mAH battery that has been rated for up to 450 hours of standby and 4.5 hours talktime on a 3G network, this seems to be quite the entertainment powerhouse. Too bad there isn’t 3D support on this, it would have certainly set it apart from the rest of the crowd.

Dance competition places focus on youth development, through Hip hop

2011-03-12T03:07:00.000-08:00

Hip-Hop has changed dramatically what was considered to be violent and an intimidating form of lifestyle. Hip-hop has become the mainstream or the default musical setting of the culture. As a result rap, graffiti & dancing are now used to sell everything from fast food to cars, brand marketing and used to gain access to youth in danger. Hip-hop has gone beyond being just about music, but hip-hop has actually become a brand, a lifestyle and an urban culture that almost everybody aspires to be associate with – even big corporate.

It is estimated that 80-percent of urban youth can be reached through Hip-Hop, which encompasses rap, graffiti, dancing and fashion. With that said Dios Mismo Entertainment cc, a youth-owned entertainment and events coordinating entity has surfaced the idea of an event that will be used to present the South African hip-hop market, preferably dancers, with opportunities of growth. This does not only pertain to growth in their dancing but growth in their spiritual, mental, psychological and professional facets of life. DA KRUMP FACEOFF is such an event, this is a dance competition that places it’s focus on the development of hip-hop dancers, whereas the aim of this event is that every dancer that competes in this competition will be challenged in every regard; psychologically, mentally, physically & professionally.

DA KRUMP FACEOFF (K.F.O) is constantly searching for alternative ways to challenge dancers in upgrading their dance capabilities and personal wellbeing- this is specifically why, DA KRUMP FACEOFF have established a partnership with a Cape Town-based national dance competition, where our event, DA KRUMP FACEOFF, will host the “dance your way to Cape Town” event, for over 100 Gauteng hip hop dancers , and the qualifying dancers will be taken to Cape Town to compete in July 2011, in the national dance competition, Big City Brawl, where dancers from Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town & port Elizabeth will battle it out in hopes of being crowned South African national dance champions. It is to our hearts content that we wish that this partnership will spark an immediate change in the perception placed upon hip-hop dancers and thus contributing to a generation of talent-intensive and dream-dwelling youth.

I strongly believe that for South African dancing to be recognized a great deal needs to be done in terms of grooming our dancers. Based on our observations, concentration is mostly on providing dancers with monetary gain, but there is a lack of tools and opportunities for growth.

And as part of DA KRUMP FACEOFF’s competitive advantage and social responsibility, we will provide those opportunities and tools for growth in the South African hip-hop dance industry, and thus embarking on a journey of total person development within the respective dancers and contributing to the lives of the youth, in establishing and nurturing their talents in dance and personal lives, including professional careers. And through quality control strategies, we aim to provide dancers with more than a platform to showcase their talents or offer them only a cash prize; we will provide them with mentorship programs, developmental seminars and dance workshops- with these development methods, we aim to equip dancers with power in mind, the strength of dreams, and the core-potency of a spiritual nurturing.

“K.F.O is more than a youth event, it is development...” this was said by Khanyisile, a wonderful lady from our Facebook page. This emphasizes that DA KRUMP FACEOFF is certainly more than just another dance event; we’re purposefully dedicated to the development of the South African youth, through their own language, Hip Hop.

This initiative will, gradually, be the foundation of improvement in terms of the level of competitiveness in the dancers themselves and their personal well-being. We will target the core of each dancer’s spiritual, physical, mental and professional facets and hence provide opportunities for growth, mentorship and development. .

DA KRUMP FACEOFF (KFO) “DANCE YOUR WAY TO CAPE TOWN”

Date: 16 April 2011

Venue: Christ Centred Church, next to Phillip Stadium, block L, Soshanguve, Pretoria

Time: 13:00 – 18:00

Entrance: R50 – Just by attending the event, lucky spectators stand a chance of receiving free Khuli Chana & Kwesta CDs.

Rihanna & Ciara Have a Twitter Beef

Can you image a cat fight between two of RnB's biggest star's Rihanna & Ciara? all sweaty and tearing up each others clothes (Lol). Well Rihanna and Ciara seem to have had a lil feud this past week on Twitter
It all started, when Ciara said that Rihanna "wasn't the nicest" on Joan Rivers' fashion show.

Apparently they ended up apologizin to each other.

What a way to seek for attention *5 STAR NOT FR3SH*

Lupe Fiasco To Move To Africa & Make Rock Music?

Lupe Fiasco's long awaited Laser's leaked on the net this past week and seems like people had alot of negative things to say bout it. In an interview with Kevin W. Reese from Hot 97, Lupe focused on the future.
When asked where he sees himself in five years, Lupe had a surprising answer. "Hopefully I'll be out of my traditional record deal, the record deal I'm in right now. Probably living in Africa somewhere, making rock music," he said. When pressed if he was serious Lupe laughed and said, "Who knows man? Who knows? I don't know."
The Chi-Town emcee then elaborated on his wish to be free of Atlantic Records. "Yeah, yeah. I would rather be independent, I would take that," he said, before adding that independence isn't the easy way out. "Independent comes with its own set of consequences, so that takes preparation. The same way you prepare to come into a record deal, you need to prepare to come into an indie situation because there is a lot of things you're going to lose taking that route."

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 2/27/2011

Its that time again when artists find out by a show of album sales whether the public loves their music or if people think what they are doin is just a complete flop

The four top urban artists were within 4,000 units of each other, approximately speaking. Bruno Mars' Doo Wops & Hooligans fell one spot, to #6.
Eminem's Recovery also went down one spot. Earlier this week, a bunch of leaked material hit the Internet from the late '00s, recording by the Aftermath Entertainment superstar. Rihanna's Loud climbed two spots, returning to its #8 from two weeks ago. Nicki Minaj held strong at #9 with Pink Friday.

What To Watch If You Havent Watched It!!!!!!!!

2011-03-06T22:13:00.000-08:00

Storyline
Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the son of LA's most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene – until his father (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father's more industrious and inventive employees, Kato (Jay Chou), they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. But in order to do this, they decide to become criminals themselves – protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets.

For some of ya'll that didn't know (like me) The Green Hornet was a television series shown on the ABC U.S. television network. It aired for the 1966-1967 television season and starred Van Williams as both the Green Hornet and Britt Reid, and Bruce Lee as Kato.

This Movie is a must see for all you action comedy lovers. when i went to watch this movie i really didnt expect it to be as dope as it was. I must say, It exceeded my expectations.

Bow Wow Disses Will and Jay in XXL Magazine

XXL: "you had a pretty good year. You did the acting and music thing pretty big. Are you tryna be the next Will Smith?"
Bow Wow: "..he did his little rap thing first. But to me honestly, Will wasn't like a real rapper. He was more like a gimmick. Then he zapped into get a TV show, and it was poppin. Then after that he was in Hollywood. So things with came easy for him. With me, I'm a rapper. I ain't with the whole coloful cornball-type things. That's just not my style.." “The only real rappers out there right now are ME, Kanye, 50, and maybe Jay. But Jay ain’t in it like that no more.” - Bow wow
