Several doubts are being expressed over the tragic death of K Venugopal Reddy, an MCA student, in the Osmania University campus, demanding that the Centre expedite the process for Telangana state formation.
Though nobody had any doubt over the commitment of Venugopal for Telangana, his sudden death has raised many an eyebrow. However, nobody, including the police, dared to raise the issue fearing strong reaction from students.
First of all, Venugopal did not give any prior indication to any of his friends or brothers about his intention to commit suicide. Secondly, nobody knew from where he procured kerosene. It is also a mystery as to why he had gone to the Tagore Auditorium area where not a soul moves in that dreary night. Moreover, the body was found in bushes, rather than on the road.
There was a talk in hush tone as to why he had chosen the place, rather than the Arts College building where he would have highlighted the Telangana issue more. In fact, one is comparing Venugopal’s death with that of Srikantha Chary who immolated himself in front of everyone at LB Nagar a few weeks ago. The police did not utter a word, but booked the case as a suspicious death.

The way APSRTC managing director S S P Yadav increased bus fares makes one wonder whether the Rosaiah government in the state is functioning at all.

Yadav issued orders on the increase in RTC bus fare hike abnormally without even bothering to submit a note to either Transport Minister Shatrucherla Vijayarama Raju or Chief Minister K Rosaiah. The RTC, though an autonomous corporation, operates under the Transport department because the government releases grant-in-aid to the corporation regularly. The MD and the chairman are appointed by the government and whenever employees go on strike, they held negotiations with transport secretary and the minister; and if necessary, the chief minister.

But Yadav chose to care a damn for the chief minister and transport minister. After issuing the orders, he went to New Delhi and from there to Agra for a jolly trip. When the media questioned him, he simply said there was no need to inform the government. “I have the authority to take the decision in the interest of the organisation. My responsibility is to bail out the organisation from losses,” he said. All that he did was to deny his alleged remarks against Rosaiah, as reported by Andhra Jyothy. The daily reported that in the board meeting, Yadav said he did not want to see the face of Rosaiah, who had messed up the administration in the state after the death of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Sathrucherla described Yadav’s decision to hike RTC fare as unilateral and was taken without informing him or the Chief Minister. He said the chief minister would take a decision on this as soon as possible and will also take action against the APSRTC managing director. It clearly reflects the sorry state of affairs in the Rosaiah government.

Don’t be surprised if APTransco, too, increases the power tariff without telling Rosaiah!

Strange are the ways of the Telangana protestors. One fails to understand how by changing number plates they will get a separate state. Instead, that has been landing many in trouble since it is gross violation of the law and this illegal offense could lead to strict punishment.

Now, a new version has popped up in the Telangana camps. They say that folks like NTR jr, Nitin, Dil Raju, Venu Madhav, Sri Hari, Siva Reddy etc are proper Telangana people and it is heard that they have been approaching and applying pressure on these folks with a request.

They want these film folks to change their number plate from AP to TG just like how the T-leaders had done to their vehicles and forcibly did the same to few helpless vehicle owners. It appears Zee 24 Ghantalu, a subsidiary of Zee TV, has taken a completely pro-Telangana stand, much against the journalistic standards.

Zee 24 Ghantalu news head Sailesh Reddy, who hails from Mahbubnagar district, was once a beneficiary of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu. Now, he is pampering the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. He is now openly supporting the movement for a separate Telangana state. So much so some of the vehicles of this channel have changed their registration no. from 'AP' to 'TG' Incidentallly, it was this channel which gave a scrolling the other day, saying the TDP had decided to take pro-United Andhra stand. The scrolling came at a time when lakhs of students were holding meeting at the Osmania University. It caused a lot of embarrassment to the TDP leaders, who immediately condemned the news.

Heard that Chandrababu Naidu who was upset with the channel lodged a complaint with Zee TV chairrman Subhash Chandra. The management is likely to take action against Sailesh Reddy, say sources.
