i am detecting a pattern). i remember going through a time where i was very frustrated with communication, (and still am!) found a love for the written word again, and started being a whole lot more direct in what i ask for or commit to. it is a maturing of the soul when we realize what responsibility and integrity really mean. mean… see i find myself using that word so much more these days. what do we mean?

please… i don’t have time
i don’t have to rhyme this line

please… say what you mean
don’t speak in between the lines

i’ve thought this through
but between me and you
i decided not to

what do we mean by what we say?

we’ll be one of the few
authentic, honest, but new

like a wedding vow you
non-negotiable you

the lyrics:

i love you more than the good ‘ol days
you’re better than what’s been and all that will be

i love you more than my memories
i often can forget and hardly ever see

nostalgia only lasts so long
nostalgia can’t be the name of this song.

i love you more than the things i know
i’m probably maybe sure of all that i’ve been told

i love you more than history
agenda drives the facts and they run right over me

i love you more when you have your way
you ruin my routine and all i planned to say

here are the lyrics, intermixed with my explanation of what they might mean…

“in the grey skies, in the sunshine, partly cloudy with a chance of pain… something constant, something stable”

this is about my Creator. i regularly have the potential to fail greatly, but my Maker is strong and perfect.

“in seatle, arizona, needing something to dissolve the pain”

i do fail, and i do get hurt.
at first it seems like a mirror of the last verse, but really it’s not. this is a reference to coffee, and my using it as an escape from regular life.

“my endeavor is seeming shorter”

endeavor is my way of saying journey, and eternity ( sounds like “and ever” ) at the same time. i am getting closer to dieing so i have less life to waste, and every new day i live to make sense of my physical life alone, my view of afterlife shrinks.

“in the future, even further what will transfer all my honor?”

i want to live for something, and someone bigger than me. at the end of my life i want to be able to say my life was a tribute to the One who brought me into existence for eternal purposes.

“search for meaning, finding simple”

i want to matter, and i am learning that life is much more simple than i had originally anticipated. i feel like i have over compensated on cheap knowledge.

“every season marked by something new”

this repeated line is about how every new season God brings us into is marked by newness. i am learning to expect new things, and big changes i attempt to listen and follow what seems good and right.
